When Trump does something good (like when he imposed sanctions on India for buying Russian oil, which have now been lifted) or when one thought he would actually put pressure on Putin (but it ended up in TACO), I acknowledge it.

I also do not deny the positive side effects of his decisions, it is a great advantage that Russia’s and China’s influence in the world has decreased in connection with the US efforts in Venezuela and Iran.

At the same time, overall, Trump is completely devoid of morals and should never have become president (although it is not his fault, it is the American people who voted for him and the Democrats who could not present a viable alternative).

He proves his own unsuitability time and time again when he lies and enriches himself and his family and friends who donate money to his campaigns, or when he vindictively pursues those who are just doing their job.

Take something as simple as when he repeatedly claims that he will lower drug costs by 1500%. He is hardly so stupid that he does not understand that it is impossible, yet he continues to lie about it. So, he is consciously trying to deceive people. It would have almost been a mitigating circumstance if he instead were foolish enough to believe that it is possible to lower prices by over 100%.

Just that behavior alone shows that he has no scruples. A Swedish politician who would repeat such reasoning on several occasions would not remain in office. Then that example is just a drop in the ocean. Before the election, he would immediately release all the Epstein files. In the end, he was actually forced against his will to do it anyway. The list just goes on.

Last time he was president, it was probably The Washington Post that listed all his lies, they were over 30,000. If you have followed Trump and still believe that he is an honest person who only wants what’s best for everyone, I think you have completely failed to read him as a person. It also means that you have to interpret what he says and does based on that.

As for his abilities, with his many bankruptcies, he has also proven that he is not particularly skilled in anything other than agitating and getting parts of the population on his side. That is also an ability, and one must almost admit that he is skilled at it. If he had not become president, he would probably be in jail (so one understands of course that he made every effort).

The reason Republicans do not speak out is that those who dare to oppose him see their careers destroyed when Trump turns against them, and they are hopeless in the next election when MAGA votes for someone else.

Then there are, of course, those who despite all this still admire him; he manages to get his way, and many think that is all that matters.

However, with that said, when it comes to Venezuela and Iran, I have mentioned both the advantages and disadvantages and explained that I have mixed opinions about it. If you do not praise it unilaterally, you seem to be immediately labeled as a Trump hater (which, in a way, is quite accurate).

It is very rare, however, that I see any “Trump lovers” who even dare to admit that there may be negative consequences of Trump’s actions. I find it even more peculiar when it comes to Trump and Ukraine.

Seems completely impossible to admit that Trump should support Ukraine; instead, all criticism is immediately redirected towards Europe so that everything is the EU’s fault. How can it be the EU’s fault that the USA no longer provides Ukraine with the military support they could easily deliver before Trump became president?

First, it was that the USA had more important things to deal with; they have to take care of China, and besides, why should they care about a little shit war on another continent? Then they attack Venezuela and then Iran, suddenly it is entirely right for Trump to attack Iran as well, even though it is on another continent. Suddenly, the EU is stupid for not joining the war against Iran? Any negative aspects of the war are therefore not even up for discussion; such things are dismissed as polarized Trump hate.

Personally, I rather think that it is you Trump lovers who are blinded by your love; you need to dare to see beyond the surface and also acknowledge that there are certain flaws in his behavior and negative consequences of what he does.

By the way, credit to Johan No.1, who we all know is secretly in love with Trump. Despite that, he still dares to write that Trump behaves shamefully towards Ukraine (although it is often followed by Trump doing what is good for the USA).

Perhaps you would prefer me to stop writing? So this becomes just like Cornucopia, but the opposite, a site for unilateral praise of the great Trump? Maybe even Johan would like me to stop writing since I often analyze and criticize what he writes when I disagree or sense gaps.

If I stop writing, both Trump and Johan No.1 would be spared criticism.

Maybe it would be best for everyone to be rid of me?

Like Fylking, you would exclaim, “FINALLY!”

I just realized that you can also give feedback on my role here!

Trump has now brought Maduro and also his wife to the USA where they will stand trial.
At the same time, he has stated that the USA will take control of Venezuela and its oil.

Of course, this is completely irregular and violates international law, etc.
At the same time, in the long run, it may be the best for Venezuela (I acknowledge that there is a bit of cognitive dissonance in me, depending on where it ends).

Regardless, this is very bad on a global scale. The USA is showing its worst side and behaving much like Russia.
They grab what they want because they can. It will be difficult to protest against China if they actually choose to attack Taiwan, but one also understands why Trump does not want to stop Putin, he is not any better himself.

Will Greenland be the next target?

Perhaps this was not such a smart move by Trump either, he campaigns on the idea that the USA should not interfere in other countries and then he attacks Venezuela. But now maybe he won’t have to hear any more about Epstein? It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if he will be hailed as a hero or if he will face resistance.

Maduro has hardly been a good leader, and a large part of the country’s population has fled because he has oppressed the opposition and the country’s development has stagnated during his years in power. This is partly due to US sanctions, which have resulted in very few investments in the country and its oil production. China has made some investments in recent years, and Russia has also tried to gain influence, but more through selling weapons, etc.

It is impossible to know at this point how it will end for the people in Venezuela. Will the USA ensure that there are real democratic elections so that the people can choose their leaders themselves? Will their oil production be restored and contribute to the flourishing economy and improved quality of life?

It largely depends on how the USA acts. The risk, of course, is that we will see something similar to what we have seen before. The USA ensures that a US-friendly leader is installed who also, without any fuss, lets the USA take control of the oil. Colonialism 2.0 without the people noticeably benefiting.

So far, the USA has not taken over the country, and it may end up not going much further than this, but I assume that Trump’s statement regarding Venezuela and oil is serious, and the rest of the text will be about oil because that is what the whole attack on Venezuela is about.

US Oil Production

Today, the USA extracts almost all of its oil through fracking, where they drill into shale fields. It has almost become a truth that US oil production is very expensive, but that is not entirely true today.

During the years 2014-2016, OPEC attempted to eliminate their production by starting overproduction, which in turn led to such low prices that the idea was for the USA to be forced to shut down its extraction. They succeeded to some extent as hundreds of companies actually had to shut down. At the same time, the USA managed to significantly reduce its costs through technological development and mergers, and OPEC eventually had to give up.

Fracking is still more expensive than, for example, in the Middle East but is quite close to the cost of offshore oil rigs. However, they have a significant advantage when it comes to flexibility.
With fracking, new wells must be drilled continuously as they only produce oil for a few years. It is quick to drill new wells to increase production, and if a decrease is needed, they can simply stop drilling.
It is the opposite of other extraction methods, and increased flexibility makes it easier to match the market and thus achieve better profitability in the long run.

However, there are issues with export costs. The USA has increased exports every year, but even though they have expanded pipelines and some deep-water ports, the costs are higher for customers when transportation is included. This is one reason why the price of CrudeOil/WTI is lower than Brent.

The USA cannot charge the same prices as the rest of the world if they are to compete. Considering that fracking is somewhat more expensive, profitability is also somewhat lower.
Furthermore, the USA is currently at maximum capacity for its exports. Not in terms of production, but in terms of the ability to transport it through pipelines to the ports and also the ports’ capacity.

They, for example, have to use smaller vessels to transport the oil to larger tankers, and internally in the country, some of the oil is transported by tank trucks and trains, which is also costly.

Additional investments would be needed to increase exports, investments that cost money, further reducing profits. The price of oil would need to rise for the investments to be worthwhile (if they want to maintain the profit margin).

The USA exports just over half of its oil if we also include oil products such as gasoline, etc.
At the same time, they consume significantly more oil and oil products, and domestic production only covers about 70% of what they consume. They have been a net exporter for a few years, but still need to import.

One of the reasons for importing, besides consuming more than they produce, is the interesting fact that their refineries are designed to handle heavy oil while domestic production yields lighter oil. Therefore, refineries yield the best returns with imported heavy oil (like the one found in Venezuela). The major oil companies that own the entire chain thus sell some of their lighter oil to be able to import heavier oil.
So, there is a difference between oil and oil.

Trump has stated that he wants to see increased oil production “Drill baby drill,” and there has been an increase in 2025, but it is at the same level as it was in 2023 and 2024, so there is no significant difference. The capacity for both production and export has increased every year. There is still room, of course, to increase exports. At the same time, more bottlenecks have emerged, squeezing margins. The larger companies that own both refineries, pipelines, and wells fare better than others who are forced to buy more expensive logistics.

Continued growth will lead to reduced profit per barrel, so there probably won’t be any major rapid increases unless, of course, the oil price rises.

Trump’s desire for a significant increase shows that he does not seem to understand the industry.

Oil in Venezuela and What It Could Mean if the USA Takes Control of It

Venezuela is a marginal exporter with about 1% of the world market, and according to some reports, US efforts in Venezuela have led to a complete halt in exports. The insignificance of their oil exports is evident when one sees that the oil price has hardly been affected.

Due to the lack of foreign investors for many years, there is speculation about whether it is even possible to significantly increase extraction, as several experts believe that most of it has been neglected. China has invested some in the infrastructure (it will be very interesting to see how they will react if the USA is now going to take over the entire oil industry in Venezuela).

It will likely require a lot of investments to boost production while operating in a country that may become unstable. Additionally, if production is successfully increased, it will lead to even lower prices, reducing the USA’s own margins.

The larger oil companies in the USA, with the resources to make investments, will probably perceive it as too risky. Furthermore, they will be competing with their own oil production in the USA.

The companies that might be interested are those that currently only own refineries adapted for heavy oil, without any extraction operations. The question is whether they have the capital and if they truly want to get involved in Venezuela. Regardless, it requires Venezuelan oil to be cheaper than what they can buy on the open market. Considering today’s already low oil prices, it will be difficult to make it profitable.

If the USA simply takes full control and only pays a symbolic amount to Venezuela, there will of course be a greater chance of profitability, but then the extraction will not benefit the people.

If an increased production is initiated (which could take several years), it will compete with domestic US production, risking what OPEC attempted. It is not impossible that OPEC seizes the opportunity to increase its production. This could backfire against the USA and Trump if the industry feels threatened, leading to cutbacks, layoffs, etc.

So, in the short term, I don’t think there is much for the USA to gain from this. I believe that Trump has completely misjudged the interest from American companies to make investments at this time. He probably wants to show quick profits and generate revenue, but it could actually be detrimental to the USA.

However, this certainly provides the USA with many other strong advantages.

The USA gains access to a long-term oil reserve; fracking is not sustainable indefinitely, but with oil in Venezuela, they can secure oil for many, many years to come.

The USA may acquire a more systematic role where they actually gain such control that they can influence the market in the same way OPEC does, using it as a price weapon against other countries.

It prevents China and possibly Russia from taking control; the USA doesn’t need to earn a penny, just preventing others from doing so is a win.

Without even extracting a drop of oil in the coming years, they can gain significant advantages. However, all this would be at the expense of Venezuela.
I am somewhat doubtful whether the US Congress will approve this.

At the same time, this creates a major global power shift, entering a completely new era of uncertainty where dependence on the USA and their control over oil could affect everyone in the future.

I actually believe that these advantages are not what Trump is after (but what has prevented him from being stopped). He is quite impatient and probably prefers to benefit himself; I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts Trump Oil when he realizes that the oil industry is not ready.

What we can hope for is that Congress puts a stop to this and focuses on establishing a genuine democratic government. Once the situation stabilizes, Venezuela can attract companies willing to invest based on market conditions that benefit the country.

Already in 1984, the debate heated up regarding the navigation error track, especially between Ingvar Myhrberg (the submarine waltz 1985) who wrote for DN and on the other side stood Svenska Dagbladet and the officer corps.

Tommy Lindfors, who wrote below the surface 1996, also became involved in the debate.

SR has an opinion on the matter.

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/23956

U137 was a major political scandal where both Defense Minister Gustafsson and Prime Minister Fälldin almost pulled a “Tsunami 2004” and were unreachable when they should have been available – Fälldin survived, but the Defense Minister struggled in the media.

But it also had consequences for the Russians, the ship commander Gustjin was rumored to have spent 2-3 years in the Gulag and then there was a lot of vodka in an apartment in a suburb of Moscow. Several in the staff were demoted along with Avrukevitj – not sure exactly what is true there, a lot of rumors.

It was a completely unprepared navy that had to quickly put together what they had available to be able to adequately man some ships, submarines, and artillery batteries when a Russian submarine ran aground in a military protected area not far from Karlskrona, and during ongoing submarine tests in the vicinity.

There is much discussion about our coastal batteries and fire control radar, but what the Soviets were probably most concerned about was our heavy attack, “The Supreme Commander’s Club”. If that swarm had flown in and fired its missiles, that relief force of about ten ships would have needed to be rescued.

The general debate shifted from Soviet violations to also include NATO influence operations, to the point where the Soviets were not really violating us – fluctuating between no Soviet violations at all or that it was mostly NATO.

Below, SVT promotes its own documentary from Uppdrag Granskning 2006 about Hårsfjärden with the words “offensive submarines were from NATO”. It is a truth with modification that is beyond the scope of this article series, but don’t worry, we will come to Hårsfjärden in the future and SVT is bending the truth.

SVT is after all our state television and they should as far as possible stick to the facts, but when it comes to the submarine issue, they have had some difficulties with that.

They still write this under most of their articles;

If you have stuck to honest analysis in the debate, like MANA member Nils-Ove Johansson concluded that NATO was the one violating us with our tacit approval, which they certainly stretched quite liberally, but that it was the Soviets who were preparing for war with us – and that it was the Soviets who were our enemies.

If the Soviets had not prepared to attack us, the UK and USA would not have bothered to spend large sums spinning around in our archipelago in the small Baltic Sea.

As evidence of the above statement, we refer to what happened after the collapse of the Soviet Union when the calm settled and no submarines violated us for quite a few years – because the USA and UK had no intention of violating us but were just keeping an eye on the Soviets and wanted us to be vigilant.

Now in 2025, we have probably agreed that the USA is doing what is best for them – they are just like the bank, not your friend as we usually joke.

But the USA did not plan to invade us during the Cold War, it was the Soviets who planned it.

Some of the debaters who distinguished themselves in the overall debate focused on NATO’s violations and extrapolated over time to suggest that the Soviets never, or rarely, violated us.

Ola Tunander was influential and launched many of the theories that were picked up by others.

Swedish Radio

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/25263

Ola was a bit of a Trojan horse as he was part of the expert group that was supposed to clarify the submarine violations and since then has enjoyed accusing other participants, the government, and the armed forces of covering up and lying, where the trust position he was honored to hold became a good springboard. There are countless discussions between older senior officers and Tunander where they spar with the pen.

If you haven’t heard the name before, it doesn’t mean he is marginal in the debate, just that you haven’t kept up – google his name and you will see a flood of opinion articles, books, and participation in all sorts of contexts, this is a person whose opinions have made a big impact in the overall debate and contributed to how the citizens of Sweden over time perceived who was actually behind the submarine violations in our inner archipelago.

Now after 2022, it’s easy to see how Ola Tunander has positioned himself in the Ukraine war – then we have a receipt for how he stands with regard to Russia, right?

On the question – “Has Russia violated international law” when they invaded Ukraine, he draws the following conclusion,

https://www.globalpolitics.se/viktig-fraga-fran-ola-tunander-har-ryssland-brutit-mot-internationell-ratt-del-i

Some may think that Johan No.1 is extrapolating too far, but it is important to understand that since 2022 he has written remarkably much about the Ukraine war – for example, that it was not Russia that killed civilians in Bucha.

What Anders can definitely be held accountable for is that as an author, he has chosen to enhance Ola Tunander’s impact by often referring to him as a reliable source and giving credibility to his theories that the Soviet Union did not violate us.

Anders is a supporter of Ukraine in the ongoing war – no discussion there even if he may not be very engaged in that particular debate.

All the quotes above are what these individuals themselves have written on their open platforms, and I adhere to the quoting right and provide references – so I believe I am doing the right thing and nothing is distorted to fit a narrative I am trying to build – honest as a Catholic priest in Boston.

Some may find it amusing to read about NATO’s reprehensible actions and double standards.

Others may feel that it was humiliating for our defense personnel who risked their lives to defend the country of Sweden when the Soviet Union violated us in our archipelago.

I believe we are on the right track to set the record straight that the Soviet Union did not directly violate us during the Cold War and I don’t like it. History should be described as honestly as possible for the historical record – not whitewashed with an agenda.

This is what a senior officer who was active in the Blekinge coastal artillery during those years wrote to me on one occasion, it was an opinion he had also expressed in other contexts but I omit the name for safety reasons;

“What I find difficult to live with is individuals who still, with misleading claims, try to excuse/minimize the Soviet Union’s aggressive behavior during this period. Without putting the event in its historical perspective. Without sustainable factual arguments. Like you just did.

Even more difficult is to live with the fact that some take the liberty to publicly ridicule the incredibly demanding efforts that primarily the Navy personnel were subjected to during the 80s and 90s. Asserting our territory cost many shattered dreams, economies, relationships, and, indirectly, several comrades’ lives”.

The references I have chosen above are by no means the only ones in the debate, but they cover the entire argumentation and are good examples of the arguments put forward.

Why is this important?

U137 is the only singular event where one cannot dismiss everything as mudslinging and conspiracy, and alternative explanations had to be found as to why the Soviet Union/Russia was not a threat to us.

Today, Russia is doing exactly what the Soviet Union did during the Cold War – violations, sabotage, influence operations, and subversive activities.

Most recently, 15 drones over a Belgian army base that they discovered by chance when they were testing an anti-drone weapon.

But what do you constantly hear from the Russian side?

23 drones flying into Poland was a mistake, or maybe they were Ukrainian.

Drones over airports across Europe are definitely not Russian.

Russia never intended to attack Ukraine.

Everything is NATO’s fault.

“They’ve dusted off the Cold War manual,” you exclaim in surprise now, we’ve learned something new after three years of scouring johanno1.se where he just scams us on Swish.

With U137, the Soviet Union did the next best thing – navigation errors, faulty equipment, workplace accidents, or maybe drunkenness were suggested as reasons why the submarine ran aground. Choose whichever you like, they generously offered with a broad Russian grin.

Against the Soviet Union’s constant denials of all violations and the majority of creative explanations that journalists and debaters with large media platforms chose to promote, stood our defense personnel. They were just doing their jobs, didn’t have the same reach as the media, were hurt and insulted by unpleasant journalists – and in the end, they gave up in their attempts to seek redress.

The Armed Forces were completely abandoned, and the men who put in a tremendous amount of effort into debate articles against Ola Tunander are well beyond retirement age but feel that they must clear their names when they should be basking in Sweden’s appreciation for defending us against the Soviet Union.

Was it really wrong to try to make the Soviet Union look as bad as possible?

For almost four years now, we have been trying to talk down Russia in our discussion forums – the worse they look, the better.

Regarding U137, in my next post, I will show that the argument for navigation error is not reasonable – it is a matter of probability analysis and trying to show that the likelihood of that is too small, so the most likely scenario is that U137 accidentally ran aground on a covert mission.

It is also of interest to simultaneously demonstrate how much effort some choose to put into promoting a line that only benefited the Soviet Union, later Russia.

Already in the early 2000s, the line began to be strongly pushed that it was NATO submarines, but I only started to take a serious interest in this in 2015 – it was after I read Jallai’s website, of course, and had the same aha experience as everyone else.

My position at that time was that it was only NATO, and I found it sensational, I had been thoroughly deceived for the first and only time in my life.

When I found the Skalman thread (herring and mink), it took less than half a year before I understood that it was the Soviet Union that violated us – I changed my position because the evidence was overwhelming, you can actually follow in the thread how I slowly transitioned.

We also need to calibrate ourselves to the overall situation to better understand the motives.

In the early 1980s, the Soviet Union initiated Operation RYAN, which was a targeted information gathering effort to understand and receive warning of a nuclear attack from the USA.

It became somewhat of a self-reinforcing loop, and when the USA conducted the military exercise “Able Archer” in 1983, the Soviet Union thought, now hell will break loose – they were so paranoid and easily frightened after completely misinterpreting the situation.

You can google “Operation RYAN” yourselves, it is well described here actually, there are no guesses or speculations at all today.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_RYAN

The Soviet Union carried out increasingly aggressive war preparations – as these are not part of U137, you will have to wait for later posts to be completed, I know it can be painful but Zen monks have a special breathing technique for when my posts take too long.

Well, no one really denies this bigger picture, but the interpretation of the perpetrator that follows becomes intriguing.

An honest debater will confirm that the USA/NATO/UK were in our waters partly with the Navy’s approval, sometimes to train us, conduct influence operations here and there – and sometimes they followed sharp Soviet missions where they were exposed to fire since our Navy did not always have good intelligence.

But the offending party preparing for war with us was the Soviet Union – everyone else was here to try to prevent the Soviet Union, nothing else, and our defense forces did their best to make the Soviet Union look bad.

This is where the cards are mixed up by finding the occasions when it was a Western submarine and extrapolating to the point that the Soviet Union never violated us.

The next post will present the arguments for the U137 navigation error against the actual information we have so that you can judge for yourselves what is most credible.

All counterarguments are from official reports or open sources and verifiable.

Johan No.1 has no “confirmation from an anonymous source in the defense forces” to rely on like everyone else likes because we simply cannot evaluate that. Here, only hard verifiable loose assumptions apply straight into the wall.

The next post will leave you almost newly converted with a burning hatred towards the Russians and feel that you really want to give those damn Russians a piece of your mind today for their outrageous audacity to violate us back in 1981.

First a longer SVT reportage one year after the grounding – worth watching.

https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/LE9hl6WIP4o?rel=0&autoplay=0&showinfo=0&enablejsapi=0

SVT’s 2024 production “Whiskey on the Rocks” seems to have forgotten the above reportage and was not well received by those involved – they felt that the production played down the violation and promoted alternative theories.

The Armed Forces were somewhat ridiculed even though it was masked in comedy and they pursued the drunken sailor angle, which may be a bit more serious, after all, it is stated on the website that it is based on reality.

Then, a M. Fredholm has released a book this year that is supposed to put an end to all speculations – U137 did actually navigate incorrectly.

He is an FRA veteran and without having read the book since I am poor and cannot afford it, I understand from the link below that he bases his assumption on the fact that the first Soviet search effort was made where U137 had been the day before – around Bornholm.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/239770748.U_137_inifr_n_

Now that Russia has shown that they are similar wreck looters roaming around like a locust swarm in our geographical vicinity, I am considering whether we should start reconnecting to our country’s other major open wound after the Palme assassination (which is now healed) – the submarine intrusions in the 80s.

At least SVT and Fredholm found it interesting enough to make a TV show and write a book about.

What could be better than showing that it wasn’t misnavigation that caused U137 to run aground just to annoy SVT so they have to remove “based on reality” from the description of their program above?

So what really happened on that fateful night that ended with a Soviet submarine running aground in our inner archipelago in the middle of a military restricted area and revving up the engines?

The Soviet submarine U137 (S363) ran aground on a blind rock on October 27, 1981 at 19:57 right at the entrance to Gåsefjärden.

“Hold the line,” thundered Torbjörn Fälldin statesmanlike when he was eventually informed.

A dozen hectic days followed, ending with U137 being assisted in getting free, escorted to the territorial water border, and from there the situation de-escalated.

If one wants to be picky, the only thing we did was to return U137 to the Soviet Union, so we may not have appeared as Viking-like as Fälldin thundered – even though the Armed Forces were fully prepared to engage with what they had if needed.

16 coastal rangers stood for a few days trying to figure out how to take over the submarine, and their feedback to the command center was – forget it.

https://www.forsvarsmakten.se/sv/information-och-fakta/var-historia/artiklar/ordern-beredd-borda-ubat

Overall, the government and the Armed Forces acted very elegantly, although, just like now, we had managed to systematically disarm since the 70s and hit upon capabilities that would have been troublesome for the Soviet Union.

An absolutely sensational world news because it was now indisputable that the Soviet Union was cruising far inside our inner archipelago with a large conventional submarine and in the middle of a military restricted area,

The highly humiliating grounding occurred shortly after the end of exercise Zapad 81, which was a very large Soviet exercise in the Baltic Sea at the time, in which U137 participated.

Facts in the case;

U137 was moving in the area northeast of Bornholm before heading towards Sweden1.

A group from Oznaz2 was on board U137 along with an officer who was the chief of staff for the 157th submarine brigade based in Paldiski, a commander Avrukevitj.

U137 crossed the Swedish territorial water border about 30 minutes after nightfall, which was around six o’clock (sunrise the next day was around 07:00).

The military became aware of the violation at ten o’clock the day after.

The submarine was in an intermediate position and traveling at 8 knots at the time of the grounding at Torumskär3.

1. image below and is based on the submarine’s navigation log.

2. a Swedish translation of the Soviet investigation into the accident that Sweden had access to, posted on May 19, 2016 in the Sillar and Minkar thread on Skalman.

3. it now says Torhamnaskär on the maps, but Torumskär is the common name for the grounding location.

Nothing is guesswork as it is based on technical evidence, such as the navigation log and the Soviet’s own report on the major accident.

Information that may be useful to know;

A Whiskey in surface position requires a 4.55m freeboard according to available specifications.

Just west of Torumskär, the water depth is 14m, then shallows to 12m further in, and finally 6.7m at the innermost point.

The area is sparsely populated compared to other bays and fjords in the vicinity.

At this time, the area had war mooring places, which means that the water depth was probably greater than indicated on civilian maps – this is a qualified assumption from me, and for safety’s sake, we stick to the civilian map.

If one were to want to navigate a submarine into the area around the Karlskrona naval base, Gåsefjärden is a very well-chosen place in peacetime – you can look around on this nautical chart and switch to Google Maps if you’re bored at work. Not much settlement, no civilian fairway, no course change required to enter directly, and the water depth is acceptable.

https://www.skippo.se/plan

The definition of an intermediate position that U137 was traveling in – so it’s not fully surfaced, but a part of the submarine is visible above the surface. It should be noted that the draft will be deeper than in the surfaced position.

Protected objects in the vicinity of the grounding location;

We know that there was an FRA station on Utlängan, and according to a participant in the Skalman thread, the cable ran from the station up to the FRA facility in Lösen.

Gåsefjärden is located right in between the shortest distance.

The Karlskrona naval base was of course also in the broader geographical area.

Gåsefjärden was a war mooring place for the navy with a mine barrier and a guard post (since the battery at Tjurkö was unmanned, I guess the guard post was also unmanned).

I am very fond of this type of sources.

https://ka2samverkan.se/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/forsvaretoblekinge.pdf

There were several military targets in the vicinity – and in terms of what lawyers talk about, we have identified a possible intent since U137 was military.

Since U137 had operators from a special forces unit on board along with the chief of staff of the entire submarine brigade, it is not unreasonable to assume that the submarine had a mission beyond the ordinary.

If U137 had crashed into Utklippan lighthouse in surfaced position at full speed, I wouldn’t have written this series of posts.

So what did U137 do on that fateful night

The ship’s captain immediately claimed that the submarine had navigated incorrectly and found itself off the coast of Poland, east of Bornholm. This is to be supported by the fact that the first Soviet rescue efforts went to the area where U137 had been the day before.

This also seems to be what M. Fredholm’s book bases its assumptions on, but the Soviets initially contradicted themselves, so

The captain stated that he believed he was at Christiansö – the initial search effort was further east than that and as soon as the sun rose after sometime past seven o’clock, U137 must have realized that they were in someone’s inner archipelago and communicated it. The fact that aircraft were circling over a different geographical area several hours later is a poor argument to base an entire book on; below is a good summary of that track and why it is incorrect.

https://kkrva.se/u-137-intrang-ska-framsta-som-oavsiktligt/’

Before U137 began its journey towards Gåsefjärden, it traveled in silent mode in a “circular pattern” in said area. It is either a standard patrol pattern or similar to what planes do when waiting to land – I haven’t found any information on which one it is, although it is highly significant.

As the submarine approached the cliff’s lighthouse, it went into periscope depth and then into intermediate depth, making several course changes towards the cliff’s lighthouse.

The probability that they didn’t know what they were doing is probably nonexistent.

“The final course change before entering Gåsefjärden occurred at a point that can be determined precisely by the fact that the lighthouses Flöjten and Flundrebådan are aligned, while the light from the Utlängan lighthouse transitions from red to green sector.”

https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/U_137

The image below comes from the investigation SOU1995 and is based on U137’s own navigation log. The Defense Forces did a great job here; they received the log indicating that they were somewhere near Bornholm, but they started from the grounding site and worked backward – they reconstructed U137’s actual route because times and course changes were documented.

The Soviets probably didn’t anticipate that.

One initial observation is that during the day, the submarine operated in silent mode and then briefly surfaced to periscope depth.

As they approached Sweden after nightfall, the pattern changed, and they went to intermediate depth before grounding.

An altered operational pattern to begin with.

There are various speculations about why they went to intermediate depth, one being that they wanted to resemble a boat as much as possible in the dark – not too high and not underwater in silent mode. If they had been detected on radar, it might have been easy to dismiss them as a fishing boat perhaps; the navy suggests this as an explanation for why they didn’t detect U137 on the way in – but they also had some pressure to try to explain how they managed to miss everything.

Again – if U137 had continued to circle in silent mode in ever-widening circles and crashed into the Utklippan lighthouse, you wouldn’t be reading anything from me.

The Utklippan lighthouse, towards which U137 made course changes, is a 30m high structure that also stands on a height above the water surface – and moreover, it is within the area where U137 normally navigated.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utklippan

So what was the actual accident – did U137 drive straight onto land like amateurs, as we have all seen in the pictures of a submarine stranded on a rock with a tearful captain in the tower casting longing looks at the photographer and truly hating his life?

No, Torumskär is a shallow blind skerry, and there is a military fairway immediately west of the grounding site, and U137 made course changes precisely after the Utklippan lighthouse to enter the area directly.

U137 ran aground, and the energy propelled them a bit further, but it was a very small navigation error that led to the grounding – seconds and meters.

In fact, there are landmarks that the navy navigated by, and a week before the grounding, an officer sailing in the area observed that a landmark had collapsed, almost causing him to run aground on Torumskär himself.

We know that there were landmarks and a military fairway; whether a landmark collapsed depends on whether we consider the source reliable or not.

https://www.forsvarsmakten.se/sv/information-och-fakta/var-historia/artiklar/u-137-dagarna-nar-sverige-var-pa-randen-till-krig

We also don’t know if the Soviets navigated by them, but the landmarks were there in the area to navigate by if desired.

This brings us to the end of this post; the next post will focus on those who have become prominent in the debate, followed by weighing arguments against each other so that you can draw your own conclusion on whether U137 was an intentional violation or not.

Because that’s the important part – was U137 on a real mission or not.

Who claimed that everything was due to unfortunate circumstances – the Soviets.

Does Putin ever claim once a month that Russia never intended to attack Ukraine, that it’s all NATO’s fault, that he doesn’t want to conquer all of Ukraine, and so on?

The other day, thread participant Bal at johanno1.se reached a breaking point and got upset about the Russian environmental influence operation, you are reading the thread available in both Swedish and English.

No one is saying that we want to bring back the hole in the ozone layer or the acid rain – just that there are sensible things, there is a commercial fraud, and then there is a Russian influence operation simmering. When we shut down six fully functioning nuclear reactors, new electricity production needed to be built, right – good business for everyone except the taxpayers.

I was a bit inspired by Bal’s broadside and today I want to tell you about the submarine intrusions in the 80s where I myself commanded the destroyer Halland and the entire coastal fleet.

Since we now have the same situation with a very offensive Russia that has begun its sabotage, it is a bit easier for you to put it into context, I hope.

Sweden was politically and socially infiltrated by Russia, and no one really knew who they could trust outside their group of long-known individuals with something we usually call a verifiable CV when we hire. A deep blue faction to the right saw it as their highest task to protect the country from the Soviet Union, and they believed that they could stretch the limits of national security quite far. To the left, one was either far left deep red in Soviet solidarity, in the middle trying to balance realpolitik with the deep reds to the left, a bunch of defectors within their own organization, and then preferably survive the dark blues to the right.

The climax (or maybe low point) was a prime minister assassination, and then it gradually calmed down to a final major violation in the 90s where we chased away a Piranha – then and there, the Swedish submarine hunt was at its absolute peak and there was probably surprise that turned into full panic in the Piranha that was not supposed to be detected as it majestically glided over the seabed.

After Ingvar Carlsson took office, he was sleeping in the prime minister’s residence when two well-built men with short hair knocked on his bedroom window and waved before disappearing. The Prime Minister had just been shot, do you think that after that greeting, Ingvar dared to stick his neck out too much when whoever it was that wanted to influence him sent two operatives with the instruction to climb up on the roof, knock on the window, wake up the Prime Minister, and then wave friendly to him.

During the Cold War’s end, we had the world’s best submarine hunting as the Baltic Sea had been one of the hotter areas during the period, and we had received a lot of free training – but we started from almost zero and had to try to self-teach as best we could.

This meant that officers and employees at all levels tried to drive development forward with a limited budget, sometimes against political will and with an increasingly scrutinizing media.

Furthermore, the Armed Forces are a large pot of officers who all look suspiciously at any attempt by other officers to do something that would make them not look as good. Unless there is a war and the personnel pool is expanded with resourceful civilians, things usually continue in established tracks, and there are no problems in preparing for yesterday’s war.

The smallest mistake was on the 8:00 PM news for the whole of Sweden to see – you couldn’t get away with anything, and since mistakes happen all the time in an upward trend, there was a lot to criticize.

Allowing the navy to try to do its job in peace was something no one even reflected on, and when they tried to counter in the media by advertising their honorable work of protecting the country, every little effort was scrutinized in-absurdum. When they found something amusing like herring shoals or minks swimming around the microphones, it became the headline on the 9:00 PM news instead.

“Budget submarines” quickly became popular – the navy just wanted more money and made up the whole story. Everyone preferred to talk about mistaking minks for Russian submarines rather than our navy defending us against Soviet war-preparing sabotage according to the job description.

There are some highlights – one was when we were supposed to test an Italian submarine hunting torpedo that, after firing, made a wide turn and locked onto the ship that fired it, causing some panic on board.

It all started when a destroyer fired submarine rockets at a presumed offending submarine, and a damaged Polish submarine appeared just outside the territorial waters – or it signaled increased ambition from the Soviet Union and sent shockwaves through the Swedish navy.

Over time, we moved from trying to sink submarines to forcing them to surface instead, which worked sometimes but most of the time they managed to escape – which may have been a hidden agenda from some who advocated that approach, who knows?

When it all began, we were as poorly prepared as Poland is today in 2025 and tried to equip ourselves with patrol boats and minesweepers to create equipment that could see/hear underwater, detect hostile submarines, and intercept them. This was long before we almost got a clear picture of what lies beneath the surface that we are used to today – you could listen, and if you were close, try to see shapes deviating from the seabed.

At each incident, men in suits (or uniforms, I don’t know because on the destroyer Halland, we just sank everything so no one came) and all involved had to sign confidentiality agreements that they still consider themselves bound by today – I find it strange, but that’s how it is because we have tried to get witnesses to speak even anonymously.

Surprisingly few speak, and those who do try to be dismissed, and they often do not have the full picture. Yet, there were thousands of conscripts who witnessed incidents and had information that we would have liked to access.

For me, this is perhaps Sweden’s most important series of events after the assassination of Palme and something every journalist with a bit of pride should make it their life’s mission to unravel, but that’s not the case. After various journalists and media outlets concluded that everything was the USA’s doing, it’s dead.

Now my memory is a bit rusty, so there is a risk of a misstep as I write freely from memory.

I analyzed these violations in the Skalman forum for 3-4 years following the same principle as here – we have information from open sources to analyze and make reasonable assessments and put the pieces together.

Everything can be dismissed as “you have no evidence and are guessing,” but one never has indisputable evidence, and somewhere it is the assessment of reasonableness that matters. If one engages in honest debate, one will eventually arrive at a likely situation picture.

We did not have the luck as in the Ukraine war where Ukraine and Zelensky started talking, and we had our guesses confirmed almost immediately.

Everything was in a secret or quasi-secret archive where the latter means that you MUST say “no, it doesn’t exist” if asked.

Sometimes information was identified that we amateurs tried to declassify, but then that particular page was torn out when it was declassified – someone beat us to it. We guessed that others besides us were reading the Skalman thread and knew what we were looking for, so they hurried off to the archives. We had already done the work for them.

“If you look at the bottom of the page and see that they refer to the report *insert any report* and page 3. If we could get that declassified, we would know the nationality of the submarine that was sighted.”

After two months, Jan Björklund returns to the forum and announces, “I have been to the archive and got the report, but page 3 was missing.”

The Navy were like cowboys trying to learn submarine hunting, and it was a delightful mix of everything, for example, West German submarines were there as observers, and sometimes the Navy mistook them and tried to sink them.

Imagine the panic when the operations chief receives a call that the submarine he is about to blow to atoms is one of their own

On more than one occasion, there was a need for a hasty interruption of an operation, which those lower down the chain perceived as Palme wanting to release a Soviet submarine. An operation against a submarine that was interrupted coincided in time with a call from the West German embassy to someone in the government or high military command, can’t remember which. The picture arises from piecing together various pieces of information that occurred during the same period.

The USA and UK were our allies, and the Soviet Union was our enemy actively preparing for war against Sweden.

I have evidence (as far as one can go) of a psyops operation involving our very own Carl Bildt, where they used an Italian mini-submarine and blamed the Russians, so we were not entirely innocent. Do you think the newspapers were interested in that scoop?

First a book by a former British submarine officer describing a Russian mini-submarine that matched an Italian Maritalia perfectly – it was a section in one of the chapters, the rest of the book was good.

An article in SVD by a journalist who later became Bildt’s press secretary about how a Russian submarine violation with a submarine that was exactly like the Italian one would unfold, the journalist had probably managed to find the book, and the article came with a highly detailed illustrated image.

This type of submarine was probably also a category in the Navy’s classification of submarine violations – I remember it was called “valryggen,” or at least that it fit the description very well.

Then a violation in Töre where they now had a book and a newspaper article that already described the Russian submarine behaving almost as if it wanted to be discovered. Then the submarine hunt was abruptly halted just as they were about to blow the crap out of the vessel, and everyone left to the army’s great irritation, which apparently was not aware that it was a double bluff.

There were two very different violations in Töre over a few years.

Then Carl Bildt jumped straight into the debate and made a big deal out of it to discredit the Soviets, get more resources, and something else I’ve forgotten. There are transcripts of his speeches from the early 90s.

I have all the clippings for all of the above somewhere, so nothing is guesswork – everything is in print.

As is well known, I am intellectually honest and wanted the truth, so I immersed myself wholeheartedly in this mess and was quite disappointed when no one cared – I thought the media liked to dig into things that could be traced back with a whole chain of evidence.

Hårsfjärden was Russian submarines with West Germans following and Swedish efforts dropping depth charges on everything they could find: wrecks, West Germans, Russian submarines, and the seabed. In addition, there are many confirmed violations, damaged Russian submarines, and surfaced Russian submarines (even if the latter is just words and we haven’t seen any film or photos of it).

The only thing I haven’t been able to find is the Russian dry submersible that left tracks on the seabed. We found a diving robot on tracks and a dry vessel that could possibly have track equipment, but there was no photographic evidence.

The tracks of the diving robot did not match the seabed tracks.

We don’t know exactly what they used for the seabed tracks, but that was my “smoking gun” – if we had found it, we could have linked the Soviets to the violations with the width and design of the tracks, as the tracks were well documented. A fingerprint, in essence.

I talked a lot with HI Sutton, who tried to gather information through his Russian sources and a guy who had a robotics zoo but later died in a motorcycle accident, unfortunately – we all came up empty.

We know they had diving hatches on Whiskey, dry submersibles with good range, launched sonars from the torpedo tubes, and had track-carrying robots for seabed work.

There were war preparations in our naval bases, coastal forts, and mine lines where mines were moved or cut off. They were supposed to enter through the archipelago, and one of the tricks was to violate further north or south with a submarine so that our submarine hunt would be drawn there, allowing the main force with the actual mission to slip in unnoticed.

Where U137 ran aground, there was an FRA listening station a few islands away, and their cable ran right nearby – I proved through empirical lab tests that the U137 grounding was not an accident but deliberate and a small mistake at the end. Many others said it was drunkenness.

The whole side that knew about it is bound by confidentiality agreements through the secrecy pacts, and those who were higher-ranking officers are starting to die off now.

Conscripts who were there can tell puzzle pieces but rarely the whole picture – and many choose to remain silent.

You never know who is spreading disinformation either; I have caught SÄPO trying to disseminate disinformation in the debate at least once.

And then you have a whole cadre of researchers like Tunander and other debaters who pushed forward all sorts of false leads.

I have a particularly strong dislike for the magazine Filter because I thought they wanted an honest debate before I understood their purpose. I was lured there by someone in the forum I trusted and fell right into the trap – they are, along with the devil, among the worst, rattlesnakes without a rattle so you get no warning.

At one point, authors latched onto the NATO track – for example, Jallai, and I am still angry with him after a discussion that ended with his not-so-honest words “I lean towards everything being NATO.” It sold many books, and even though the shame stings, I know the champagne and bundles of dollars probably soothe it, unfortunately, that bastard

They weren’t minks or herring schools – they were Russian submarines. Of course, there were minks, herring schools, seabirds, seals, and fish in the water too, along with the Soviet submarines, but it wasn’t them violating us for warlike purposes

There were also NATO submarines in the archipelago, but we didn’t try to sink them.

Minks do not try to start wars, they do not steal underwater mines or microphones placed under the water, and they also do not leave traces on the seabed as if a large excavator had been circling around at the bottom near our underwater mines located at the entrances to our inner archipelago.

The crew of U137 was not recklessly drunk, they were a few seconds (3sec – 8sec) late in making a final course change, which led to them running aground. They probably hadn’t been drinking either because Gugi had a four-man group on board along with a very high-ranking officer from the home base – I would guess they were sober.

Nevertheless, the media and our writers have managed to push out that image to the citizens of Sweden, so most people now believe that it was all a major American influence operation, and on the occasions when it couldn’t be covered up because a whole damn submarine ran aground – then it was by mistake, all the equipment was defective, or they were completely drunk.

If you try to engage in the discussion, you’ll have Tunander or Magasinet Filter coming after you, who are paid to talk you down while you’re sitting in your free time trying to get the truth out. Jallai has already won over everyone with his books, so no one is interested in the Soviet violations anymore.

One of the malicious disinformation debaters even pushed the theory that the CIA had equipment to remotely hijack U137 and ran it aground when they hijacked the steering with some secret equipment that only the USA had access to, radio waves or microwaves.

This was during a time when the Soviet Union believed that the USA would go to war with them – the early 80s were a very tense period because the USA did not realize that the Soviet Union seriously thought they would start a war and provocatively behaved as they always do.

During that time, the number of violations in our archipelago escalated, especially during the autumns when it was most difficult to identify submarines – they moved around in the storms and the equipment available couldn’t see/hear through different layers.

There are various players in this mess – one was marked with an S who wanted to protect his party, another was the navy that wanted to cover up their mistakes, a third was a Russian/Soviet influence operation to exonerate the Soviet Union/Russia, and a fourth was a Western influence operation marked by Carl Bildt in at least one instance.

It’s difficult to find the truth in all of this, but for me, it shows how dangerously effective Russian subversive activities are – they can rewrite actual history even though the truth is right there in front of you, impossible to miss.

They can also win wars like in the Vietnam War.

Then they can bring down countries like South Africa (which arguably deserved it), and it was also the Soviets who created the Israel-Palestine conflict, even though today Israel makes it easy not to like them.

Now, South Africa is a bad example because they got what they deserved, but after the government fell – how many of the groups that protested against Apartheid care about the country today?

They have had enormous problems with xenophobia against immigrants from neighboring countries and outright pogroms. Women are in danger, and crime is rampant – but no one cares.

In 1967, when things started to calm down, the Soviet Union deceived Egypt and Syria into believing that Israel would attack Syria – they falsified aerial images and other information.

In 1973, when Syria almost pushed Israel into the sea, it was with new Soviet equipment, and Israel had to make do with what they had.

The only reason Israel exists today is that they are as tough as Ukraine because just like with Ukraine, the Soviets managed to make the West very passive, but they underestimated how poorly the many Arab armies fought and how many Israelis chose life.

My guess is that if Israel were overrun and disappeared, no one would care about Palestine anymore, but that remains just a guess.

In Syria, Russia bombed everywhere to trigger refugee flows to Europe – the goal was to kickstart the refugee flows to Europe in 2015, which probably exceeded expectations.

Just as they tried to trigger Ukrainian refugee flows to Europe by bombing cities to pieces. The only problem they have is that the Ukrainian refugees learn the language and work, but they have tried to carry out Ukrainian and anti-Ukrainian attacks to stoke hatred – progress has been slow, only Poland really took the bait with its history with Ukraine.

It’s easier when they pay MENA migrants to decapitate an elderly woman in Europe, that stirs up emotions.

Burning Qurans in front of mosques or rubbing them with bacon – that has also worked very well for the Russians.

A year or two ago, some people with Russian contacts were arrested for painting anti-Semitic slogans on synagogues in France – swastikas and other symbols. During the Cold War, we now know that some neo-Nazism in West Germany was (partly) Soviet spies with felt-tip pens.

Do you remember those 2600 pro-Russian traitors that the FBI had a list of, where only 600 were in the USA?

Have you heard a single name from anyone in Europe?

Russia is a world leader in subversive activities, and many countries have lost their sovereignty or other things to this toxic knife.

Right now, it is aimed at Europe, it is a state priority, with political parties or politicians on its side, as well as gangs, numerous influencers, and the criminal clans who are also on the payroll.

In addition to spies and numerous sleeper agents who took the money and are bought off. There are parliamentarians in established parties all over Europe who receive Russian salaries.

We are poorly prepared, and Russian subversive activities are on a significant increase.

In my adult life, I have seen the political parties to the left of center shut down 6 nuclear reactors and invest everything in renewable energy in Sweden despite loud protests from experts. I also see how wind power operates at a significant loss and how electricity prices became very high, now just uncomfortably oscillating.

Do you remember when electricity prices skyrocketed across Europe for a few years – imagine if we had kept our nuclear reactors running until at least 2035, we would have become the Dubai of the Nordics with the revenue from that export.

All criticism of dismantling Europe’s best electricity production, which was also fully paid off, was met with “are you a climate denier?”

And it was only a few years before our extremely electricity-intensive arms industry needed to scale up because Russia attacked Ukraine, something they had planned for a long time

The same across Europe – shut down predictable electricity production, make yourself dependent on Russian gas, and build a huge amount of unpredictable electricity production.

Then I sat in the front row when we were about to shut down our hydroelectric power and followed the debate that was stopped at the last second – I never understood why hydroelectric power was bad for the climate, and you don’t either because it wasn’t. It was the electricity production they were after, and it was the most important after nuclear power because solar and wind power are highly variable, but hydroelectric power is controllable.

Spain shut down its power plant dams and is now facing huge floods that everyone blames on the climate, but which are actually due to the disappearance of the dams as regulating functions.

The roll-on/roll-off port in Gotland without explosive boxes – another modern classic that is difficult to explain away.

Or Swedish peace in 2025 when we decided not to defend ourselves against invasion and then turn the traffic signs as a defense for peace in our time if we are invaded – they sit on TV and pronounce these words after three years of war in Ukraine.

I have heard Amnesty and the UN accusing Ukraine of the war for a long time, only to turn around and dutifully accuse Russia, while downplaying all Russian abuses.

Or a Germany that is so politically paralyzed that they dare not send even helmets in the first year – and then we know that half of the STASI got jobs in West Germany post-unification.

The military were climate deniers when they did not want to give Russia a hidden advance in the Baltic Sea from Kaliningrad with a lot of wind turbines that just happened to be located right where they would have been the best cover for Russia.

Or shutting down our cement production, our farmers having had a hell of a time for many years, that we should not have mining, and finally restore agricultural land to wetlands.

Uncultivated land is not a problem – only cultivated land should be restored to wetlands a few years before we enter a global conflict.

At the same time as we become dependent on Russian gas and oil without any protest from environmental movements (maybe you can shake some up), Greenpeace even marketed Russian gas as “clean air gas” or something similar.

Not everything is black and white, but anyone who does not see Russian fingerprints all over this is more than just naive. It is mixed with ideologues, those who want to protect the environment, career politicians, companies seeing good business, and overbought traitors.

Just as Russia managed to spin the narrative that submarine intrusions were an American influence operation or explainable mistakes without any intent when it could not be denied that the submarine belonged to the Soviet Union.

But when we try to make the world a better place, an absolutely enormous number of GRU employees in Russia are working tirelessly to crash our countries, coming up with all sorts of plans, some working well, some excellently, and some not at all.

During the Cold War, over 80% of the KGB budget went to this because the payoff was huge for a small price.

Nuclear winter scared us so much that we should not have nuclear power, but when nuclear-armed Russian submarines or cruisers enter the Baltic Sea, you don’t hear a peep from the usual suspects.

Or a modern classic – we all had these agreements against cluster weapons, thermobaric weapons, and mines, all of which have now been used by Russia in the war against Ukraine and have worked excellently. The best weapons of war.

We were heavily criticized and banned and scrapped these weapons, but Russia has kept everything in huge stockpiles, and none of those who criticized us went after Russia at all – completely silent.

Did we negotiate them away just for ourselves

Do you know what has also been completely silent from peace and environmental movements – that Russia in Ukraine has used prohibited weapons throughout the war, polluting, causing environmental destruction, and committing Ecocide. Perhaps they have commented on it dutifully.

Or crimes against humanity, violations of international law, and all the heinous murders, rapes, tortures, mutilations, castrations that the sexual sadist-murderers engage in.

Again, Amnesty and the UN have dutifully condemned it when they had to. The Red Cross, when inspecting the Mariupol prisoners they promised to protect, reportedly stood and laughed at them in the cell doors according to released prisoners.

And the Mariupol prisoners who have survived have had an absolutely terrible captivity – the Red Cross persuaded Zelensky to capitulate in exchange for protecting the prisoners, which they never bothered to even try to do.

Peace movements and some debaters in Sweden have also tried to initiate a discussion that would lead to a ban on “killer robots,” by which they meant drone weapons. The drone weapon is the game-changer of 2025, and if you don’t have this weapon, you will be overrun.

Do you understand now?

By the way, do you know why Russia always tries to incite rabid communists, preferably at universities, to carry out armed revolutions?

Well, because that’s how Russia fell in the Russian revolution, in the late 1800s communism was a bit of a trend and it really took root in Russia, especially at universities, and then the country was doomed.

They use their own country’s fall as a blueprint for what they are trying to do with us.

Today, it’s time for a domestic political post, and there are ten million strong opinions about such matters in Sweden

My big hobbyhorse is that the tax collection is a social contract and that none of our 8 parties really respect it or see it as such.

However, the Tidö team has a little more respect than the parties to the left of center because the whole business idea of that gang is based on bribing citizens for more votes.

We have –

-almost the world’s highest taxes.

-among the world’s highest welfare.

So, if someone tells you that you should pay more taxes, they themselves have no budget discipline – why should you pay for it out of your own pocket?

If you don’t have the world’s best welfare when we have the world’s highest taxes, you are paying for someone else’s poor budget discipline, or for something else your money shouldn’t go to – why should you pay for it if it’s not the basic idea of the social contract?

“But SJ,” someone immediately shouts, and yes, it’s a good question how Ukraine’s trains can work better than SJ in the country with the world’s highest taxes and eternal peace.

If you don’t live in total security in the world’s most gender-equal country that has come a long way in letting the state take care of the monopoly on violence, it’s due to a lack of respect for the security that previous generations have built up.

Or that criminals simply see it as low-hanging fruit because the consequences are non-existent – I think it was 6% of thefts that are solved now, and if you avoid the prison sentence by simply not showing up at the gates on the day of incarceration, no one has time to chase you.

But if you live in the country of Sweden, you don’t need to commit crimes to survive – you have food, shelter, healthcare, transportation, and education guaranteed for you. If you commit crimes, it’s because you want to, and can, commit crimes.

The whole discussion about the lack of youth centers, opportunities, money is dishonest.

When I lived in Angola – do you think everyone there was criminals, or was the country largely law-abiding hard-working people trying to support their families – they have none of the welfare we have, and especially no youth centers.

This, in a rough way, summarizes where we should be in Sweden in terms of what we should get for the money we pay in taxes and the country our parents have created and handed over to us.

The next point is that our elected officials should pursue policies for the majority society (THE TAXPAYING CLASS REGARDLESS OF ETHNICITY) because they are the ones who pay for the whole country.

Then we should have a commitment to those in need in the country and a little outside, but the fat cats at Forum CIV are absolutely not in need, for example, they have just found a way to have a better standard of living than those who pay their salaries, which is upside down.

Forum CIV is one of the extremely many constellations created to steal your money.

Politicians themselves are starting to detach from the ground in terms of salaries and benefits, not to mention the EU, which has become a money-sucking monster where one goes to earn big money from all the different allowances one can get if they have a lack of morals, which apparently almost all EU parliamentarians have from right to left.

I laughed so hard when some of our EU parliamentarians after the election took a picture from the train station and said, “now we’re going to Brussels,” only to then take a taxi to Bromma and fly down instead.

Almost on par with the influencer who wrote about flight shame after the assignments she got when she was on the plane to Mallorca, and on other social media posted about her vacation instead.

Most authorities, state and municipal operations, and actually private companies have also fallen victim to being hijacked by administration, HR, and finance that have grown exponentially. When I started working as a consultant in the UK, it was the engineers who were the ones providing and we were treated like gods. All managers were old engineers, and then HR, Admin, and finance were just a support function that had to put up with us.

Now in 2025, all organizations are administration-heavy, and often they tell you how to do your job without understanding what you actually do – you are the provider and they are the consumers in the organizations.

The only company I’ve worked at in the last 10 years that functioned well was actually Royal Haskoning, still privately owned, and it was full-on cowboy there.

Here, one could make a huge cut in an unnecessary expense that is also counterproductive wherever they reign

The overall point I want to make is that if you are a net contributor to the country – privately employed in a company or in any other way bringing in money to the country, you should have the best standard of living.

Those who live on your tax money should never have a better standard of living than you; if they do, someone has managed to confuse the cards to benefit themselves from what you have created.

And those who otherwise live perhaps entirely on the money you pay in taxes should be grateful for your help, sincerely grateful.

Now, that’s not the case at all, almost the opposite – a well-functioning working family with a house, car, dog, and children in sports who are doing well in school is almost a red flag for everyone living off their tax payments when it should be exactly the opposite.

And yes – I used that as an example, but it applies to all providers in whatever constellation they have chosen to live in, and whatever gender identity they have chosen to have.

Below is a digression, admittedly.

I think everyone who wants should gladly support whoever they want – for example, I have had a significant social commitment in Angola since 2006 that has cost way too much now when you start thinking about saving for retirement and realize how much you could have had if you hadn’t spent the money there, which is a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things, of course, since the country has a large proportion of poor citizens hunting for food.

If we get to keep more – can’t those who want then donate from their salary through monthly donations to causes they want to support?

Especially those who wag their fingers at the rest of us – they can donate 50% of their salaries, I have the list of names.

It seems like a lot of people think aid is good, so the money will come in anyway?

I have been doing it for years, for example, but instead of my hard-earned money going to high salaries, it goes directly to those in need.

Some countries have solved it that way.

Many who empty the treasury because they can, Jens Nylander, the Waste Ombudsman, and other political parties constantly highlight the irregularities.

But since crime pays, there are rarely any consequences.

I believe that Europe is heading towards worse times and that everything will deteriorate due to Russian and Chinese destabilization that they have been preparing for already for 10-15 years.

Perhaps it’s necessary to think a bit before we completely crash, or maybe that’s what’s needed to reset the system?

Some countries have introduced a “flat tax” and then are very restrictive with deductions, so in the end, high-income earners probably pay their share anyway because they can’t tax plan away everything like low-income earners can’t. When we had the highest taxes before the turn of the millennium, the “zero taxpayers” were kings in the buddy club.

Something that the M party has refused to implement is full tax exemption up to a certain amount – 250,000 SEK, for example.

It would do infinitely much for low-income earners, and surprisingly many countries have it.

Then, of course, we should have a referendum on a binding list of what the tax revenue can be used for, and if there is a surplus, it is returned to those who paid the tax.

This binding list is constitutionally protected and can only be changed over two electoral terms.

With a small space in appropriate places to increase where it is believed it may be needed.

Think about the constant problems we have with the school, for example – if we had fully funded municipal or state schools and then private schools where you have to pay to enroll your children, the problems would be solved quite quickly – state schools do not care about grade inflation because they do not think in terms of business, and the private schools only have paying students for academic excellence.

Or basic research, which is currently deprioritized – if it gets on the list, it will receive funding again.

The defense may have just been showered with funds, but that’s because there is war.

It has been a long time since our big companies were created, and we need to return to a business-friendly climate again.

Everything goes in cycles, and we can definitely have a positive cycle again if we just think, but for a political party in Sweden today to campaign on taxing citizens harder, then they have completely misunderstood the social contract we have with them, or they simply do not care because they do not need to.

This is not a general jab against S but it is important that the issues below are discussed because the likelihood that S will be the party forming the government after the 2026 election is quite high.

M is performing terribly right now and it will surely get worse when they realize that they are in trouble and must quickly work through the business community’s wish list even faster, an accelerated timetable simply, but they can probably handle it.

S has had a messy congress and there is division, but it seems that all our parties have that, and I have a separate post coming up about politics in general.

However, S has refused to come to terms with its approach to extreme political Islamism and they simply must do that because it goes against everything they claim to stand for as a party – just because the French brought it up doesn’t mean it’s new information, just an opportunity to discuss it again.

Extreme political Islamism is NOT synonymous with Muslims in any way, even though SD always makes that connection. The extreme Islamists themselves scream that any criticism of them is criticism of all Muslims – do not fall into that trap because it is done with the purpose of avoiding legitimate criticism.

SD has done everyone a great disservice by starting to target Muslims as a group in general, and even more recently starting to spout “preserve Sweden Swedish” and other statements that polarize the debate climate and allow the group of extreme political Islamists to seek refuge under that.

Extreme political Islamism is an -ism and not compatible with our values regarding gender equality, sexual orientation, anti-racism, legislation, our morals and ethics, and much more that makes Scandinavia considered the best countries in the world to live in – and that we are at the top of all international ranking lists.

This -ism is very offensive and expansive, the ultimate goal is to take over the host country and become the dominant political power one small step at a time. They always advance their positions so concessions are actually completely pointless as the goalposts never stand still.

The Muslim Brotherhood is being banned in more and more countries in the Middle East and through subsidiary organizations or different fronts, it is de facto them that S has allied with.

Saudi Arabia has just allowed women to dress as they wish, and if any male acquaintance of theirs has a problem with that, he can show up at the nearest torture center for a chat with MbS.

Iran is also heading towards a breakthrough.

Extreme political Islamism is in full retreat in the Middle East – it is simply not 2025 material but something you throw out with the bathwater where you can.

It is widely known that S, through the Brotherhood movement (later Faith and Solidarity), has let these forces in through the back door straight into the inner circles – it happened in the late 90s and the document came out after 2010 at some point so no conspiracies at all or guesses, these are undeniable verifiable facts.

Even the fact that these groups can be traced back to the Muslim Brotherhood is verifiable, even if S likely had no idea about it back then, but by 2015 they should have known at least.

https://www.expressen.se/nyheter/s-lovar-att-samarbeta-med-sveriges-muslimska-rad

Why – S began to fade somewhat because they had been too successful. The working class had nice villas and didn’t feel that traditional S issues were their top priority anymore, where they dug into entrecote with bearnaise sauce.

S then fell for the deception of “the Muslim voice” – representatives who claimed to represent all Muslims in Sweden and generously promised their votes in exchange for favors.

https://www.gp.se/ledare/muslimska-brodraskapet-ar-redan-har.fddbabd7-bd65-46b0-ae3a-64661f56a427

The deeply unethical, and illegal, act of selling votes for influence is not even part of the overall discussion so we skip that part.

Something quite spicy is that S did not actually gain “the Muslim voice” at all by letting Islamists into the inner circles – it failed, possibly with the exception of the 1995 election.

“Muslims” are just like “Christians” not a homogeneous group at all – there are secular ones, those who go to prayer once a year, those who are believers in different ways, and then there are radical elements who overinterpret everything.

There is a not insignificant number of Muslims living in Sweden who have fled to Sweden from extreme political Islamism – they are not very keen on a repetition of that in their new homeland and it is mainly the women who have taken up that fight, as mentioned below.

The group of extreme political Islamists is small but very vocal, and while all other Muslims go to work, are busy with family, and paint their houses on weekends, this group has the time and audacity to claim to speak for the group and make plans to advance their positions in Sweden at the expense of democracy.

The decision was poor by S and they have not dealt with this at all – and with that decision in hindsight, we may understand some of the more serious missteps, but unfortunately this is ongoing, as their congress clearly showed.

For example, there was a significant internal conflict in S when Peter Weiderud defended that Muslim representatives in the Brotherhood had removed LGBT (now LGBTQ+1) from protected groups. They must be given a head start, was the message to the LGBTQ+ community.

The votes were more important than S’s fundamental values, plain and simple.

https://www.svt.se/opinion/weideruds-fordomar-mot-muslimer-leder-till-diskriminering-av-hbt-personer

We have gone through a few stages in Sweden where extreme political Islamism aggressively tried to advance their positions but were pushed back.

S followed the agreement and we had the period with representatives in positions of trust, the Green Party had a minister who resigned, and S had them in various positions in the organizations where they also had to resign.

Everyone had to go because they were caught red-handed not standing up for the values we have in Sweden and that S stands for – sometimes it was women’s rights, sometimes LGBTQ+, sometimes they associated with anti-Semites and terrorists, and sometimes it was just gross corruption and crime.

The organizations they worked within did their best to smooth things over until it was no longer possible, and they left.

A modern classic was to refuse to shake hands with women and that debate still seems to be going on today in 2025, which is quite surprising – and we seem to be losing it now that the discussion is whether it is discrimination to require someone to shake hands

The important thing for S here did not seem to be the type of people they appointed to positions who could bring about change from within, but that they followed the agreement. The fact that S was publicly criticized did not lead to any reflection at all apparently.

So here in 2025, I am actually surprised – they know the consequences and that they did not get “the Muslim voice,” but they do not address the problem. Has the problem taken too strong a hold in the party?

Then maybe you remember the hidden cameras in mosques that clearly showed that prominent representatives, looked up to, urged visitors not to follow Swedish laws and did not stand up for our values regarding equality and equal treatment.

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/5109930

Now it’s a bit messy but I think that around five years later, 25 independent schools were closed that had stated that they had the profile – Muslim orientation – and today we have two left. All the founders needed to do was to open the school, enroll students, cash in on school funding, and educate the students in the Swedish school curriculum.

The independent school reform is a damn scam that deserves harsh criticism as trust was everything and control was none, but for today’s exercise, it will be these schools – we have many more actors in the large tax-funded scam, but this group took it a step further.

The schools had promising student numbers but then things went downhill – corruption and fraud, not following the Swedish school curriculum, teaching religion beyond what was allowed, segregation and discrimination where girls were kept separate from boys and did not receive full education, and then the icing on the cake – they hired ISIS returnees in the schools.

The schools also radicalized children from a young age, which is absolutely life-threatening – Sweden can probably forget about integration if schools do their utmost to counteract all forms of integration for groups that are supposed to be integrated.

Unfortunately, the ISIS returnees were probably seen as an asset to the schools, which says a lot about the plans they had for the children.

Below, there is a warning that they have backed off from starting their own schools but are now trying to take over existing schools instead.

https://www.expressen.se/ledare/sofie-lowenmark/sa-gor-islamister-for-att–ta-makten-over-skolan

Going through this over time, it is clear that the legal system and the majority society (the taxpaying group regardless of ethnicity) have in several instances fought back when the extreme political Islamists aggressively tried to advance their positions.

But at the same time, the Social Democrats have only retreated, regrouped, and then opened up the next door for these anti-democratic elements. Just like everyone else, the Social Democrats see what is happening but put the agreement above all else.

France has tried to reintegrate ISIS returnees’ children with psychologists, and the conclusion was chilling – they are not re-integrable even after years of very extensive support efforts that far exceed what is long-term possible.

Not the most pleasant conclusion that there are ten-year-old children who are already radicalized beyond repair to integrate them into the majority society – what do you do?

What probably carries the highest risk in the Social Democrats’ embrace of extreme political Islamism is precisely that – the radicalization of children.

It is in the interest of the extreme political Islamists that their target group does not “Swedishize” and integrate because then they disappear into the majority society and their power base erodes.

This group is perhaps the biggest saboteurs of integration attempts we have in Sweden, and the Social Democrats have supported them since the 1990s.

These traveling salesmen of votes for the Social Democrats also want maximum polarization in society – because then they become more relevant. They are about as good as the Sweden Democrats at polarizing.

They are often high-status citizens in their group as religious representatives, which is then intertwined with the criminal clans and gangs that can act as moral police in particularly vulnerable areas and maintain a conservative view on women’s and LGBTQ+ rights as well as aversion to the majority society (the taxpaying group regardless of nationality).

Nalin Pekgul has been warning about this for years – for example, that women in these marginalized areas cover their heads because otherwise they will be targeted, and the Social Democrats ostracized her.

Khakabeveh in the Left Party was also ousted when she wanted to fight, the defender of goodness Sjöstedt who got rid of her for that audacity.

And Ann-Sofie Hermansson who became a garbage collector when the Social Democrats crushed her in Gothenburg.

All of them tried to stand up for women’s rights throughout Sweden and according to the programs of their parties, but they were burned from within their own ranks. There is a contradictory relationship within the parties that they cannot handle.

I can understand that women take the lead in the whole setup because the extreme political Islamists are extremely misogynistic, and there are many examples of women being sacrificed when they tried to fight against the extreme Islamists who are advancing.

Then the kicker – they are often financed by foreign powers in many cases, and in their attempts to take over the public space, they receive funding from third parties for large constructions and the bribes needed.

As a first step, the Social Democrats should immediately address this issue because it is directly anti-democratic and goes against everything they claim to stand for. They have let werewolves into the chicken coop and passively watch the bloodbath through the chicken wire.

It is never possible to completely prevent radical elements, but one can make it as unattractive as possible so that as few as possible turn to them – do we really need to fund them with our tax money to take their place in the public space?

If they have a central, well-funded, high-status gathering point vs. a dull basement that smells of mold, it probably makes a difference in membership numbers and they are drained of recruits.

Now labor movements in half of Europe have started to prioritize integration at the top of their party programs, including the Social Democrats, but they must address this double standard because it is contradictory.

One can choose to turn a blind eye to this and label it as, for example, “Islamophobia” or racism, but what is being played with in Sweden in 2025 is then the welfare society’s existence or non-existence – what has made Scandinavia so unique.

What do you think about a campaign slogan for 2026 from a party left of center saying “Integration is discrimination” – we are not quite there yet, but soon.

No country in the world can have a welfare society paid for by citizens who are increasingly taxed when it starts to be significantly diluted, and where large groups also disdain those who pay for the whole party and build parallel societies with tax money.

What will ultimately happen is that the group in society that pays for everything will fight back and keep more and more of their earned money, pay for their own welfare, and those who have no money will get nothing.

If you look today at how unemployment looks in different groups and who the vulnerable groups are in schools, it is quite clear that we will have a sharp ethnic class marker in Sweden as soon as we remove the welfare system, right?

That, if anything, will create ethnic tensions in the country.

https://www.tv4.se/artikel/5dniKuP44GD2mqsw2BJYT2/majoritet-av-elever-i-svenska-som-andrasprak-foedda-i-sverige?utm_source=tv4.se&utm_medium=shared_link

The alternative is that the group wanting to milk those who pay for the whole party more and more successfully reaches 50% and can do as they please, but that has also been tried in various countries and then things can go downhill really fast.

Today with the EU, Swedish companies and those with attractive skills can move fairly quickly if someone tries to tax them to death, and then there will be less money in the country. It might work for one term and then the consequences will come. The old pragmatic Social Democrats understood this – the question is whether the new Social Democrats understand it.

A low-hanging fruit is that one will have to start paying for university education themselves, then better schools will start charging more than today, and then healthcare and security.

I don’t know all the ins and outs of the Social Democrats, but I guess that Magdalena Andersson represents a more sensible policy and that those challenging her now are the left-wingers, so we’ll see how this ends and if the Social Democrats manage to balance it.

I will return, as mentioned, with a fairly broad critique of most parties, but when one goes back and reads about this issue, it has flared up intermittently since around 2010 but has not been possible to stamp out.

The Social Democrats have been the enablers, even though they have known about the consequences that have been absolutely devastating for integration in the country and have taken us to where we are today.

I apologize for the unrelated content (not related to the Ukraine war) on a weekday – I didn’t dare to post the post below that I’ve been working on for a week because they were my own (qualified) guesses, but now the text below from Blankspot came, so I feel like I can move on.
https://blankspot.se/uppgifter-ud-diplomat-och-kurdisk-aktivist-offrades-i-byte-for-medin/

There is a group in Sweden that always has big opinions on how inhumane the rest of us are – even though all we do is work, take care of our families, and not offend anyone. Collectively, we are all guilty, often through original sin, and the solution is usually seen as throwing money at it – and in between, these individuals, with their big opinions, have made a career out of criticizing others.

The best hypocrites are those who have fought so hard for the poor in society that they unexpectedly became rich in the process, and then engage in tax planning in their private companies to try to pay the lowest possible tax – which then doesn’t go to the needy in society they claim to fight for.

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/6224493

ETC is one of those finger-pointing groups and they have also had one of the most unethical setups for media support (which is saying something), but now it is quite clear that they are aiming to become a voice in the ether, and we will hear much more from them in the future. Before their renewal, the concept was to tank subsidies, but now they are growing rapidly with +25,000 paying subscribers.

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/6998675

The media had already linked the Kurdish representative who was arrested in Gävle with the Medin case, so I was not the first to make that connection – and it is a shining example of the aforementioned group not practicing what they preach. Stay tuned for a thorough critique of Tidölaget for those interested.

The government has denied (lied!) that there is a connection, but the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Kurdish groups are concerned about the government’s actions, suspecting that Turkey’s agenda has been carried out behind closed doors.

https://www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/efter-sapoinsats-i-gavle-koppling-till-medin-fallet-dementeras

https://www.expressen.se/nyheter/sverige/efter-sapo-tillslaget-mot-shiyar-ali-och-diplomaten-samtidigheten-forbryllar

Did you know that Medin was arrested in 2015 and that the Kurdish representative who was recently arrested in Gävle had information about his release back then? At that time, Syrian soldiers who had been captured by the Kurds were released so that Medin could go free.

https://www.journalisten.se/nyheter/frigivne-journalisten-joakim-medin-landar-i-sverige

The other diplomat from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs who was arrested also testified in favor of the arrested Kurdish representative in a trial in Sweden in 2023-2024.

Apparently, it was a money laundering trial, and he was acquitted. When was it in time, you might wonder – wait, it’s coming below.

Gripne diplomaten försvarade kurdledaren i rättegång

It is clear that the other arrested diplomat from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Kurdish representative in Gävle can be linked – and that there are previous connections to both Turkey and Medin.

By the way, Turkish media has now revealed the name of the Swedish diplomat who was arrested and has connections to the Kurdish representative in Gävle. Do you know the name of the person from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs who was arrested?

Why does Turkish media know this if you didn’t, if it has nothing to do with Turkey?

Johan Medin went to Turkey fully aware that he was a major critic of Erdogan and that journalists were being arrested. At the time, I scrolled through his blog, and he is a fierce critic of the dictatorship in Turkey – he is not wrong at all, and I am also a big supporter of the Kurds’ struggle for freedom.

Medin’s employer, ETC, had no security in place for him – he traveled without press credentials as a private individual and took the main entrance instead of sneaking in – the rest is history.

His wife was about to give birth, he is relatively young, and Turkish prison is a very unpleasant institution, but after 51 days, he was released. He seemed to have avoided the extra treatment that The Guardian describes below – which is very good.

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2013/jun/10/turkey-history-sexual-violence

Cases like these usually take their time, but the government acted decisively. Davit Isaak, Schibye (who started Blankspot), the NATO decision – all are examples of when it takes a long time, and I thought it would take at least a year.

At least Sweden’s ambassador to Turkey was surprised.

ETC, who caused all this through substandard risk management, has not praised the government at all.

Instead, they praise Jonas Sjöstedt, who is now a highly paid Member of the European Parliament after apparently getting tired of living in the ambassador’s residence in Vietnam – it was only of interest because ETC praised him and did not discuss his private life.

ETC also praises the lawyer who wrote a 200-page report that no one read.

I checked their website just to make sure they didn’t hide any tribute to the government that I could be thrown in the face.

https://www.etc.se/nyheter

Praise everyone except those who did the job.

ETC hyllar alla utom regeringen för Medins frisläppandeNu var detta ETC misstag och dom borde vara lite ödmjuka
— Johan No.1 (@johanno1.bsky.social) 2025-05-17T16:45:08.005Z

Ulf Kristersson spoke with Erdogan, and so did our Minister for Foreign Affairs. Do you think Jonas Sjöstedt has spoken with Erdogan? Or the lawyers – do you think they have spoken with Erdogan?

https://omni.se/kristersson-har-talat-med-erdogan-inga-eftergifter/a/0VdQ90

It is not very common for our government to go all-in to save a private individual – after the 2004 Tsunami, the initial reaction was “they have to manage on their own,” for example. It was a streamlining of departures after that, and a well-deserved electoral defeat followed the crisis management, which was so bad that it actually went down in history books.

Others who are imprisoned abroad rarely have the sitting Prime Minister’s help – do you remember that family with children who were thrown into a metal shed in the Maldives during COVID – I actually followed them daily, and it ended happily, but it was apparently close to going wrong. Aftonbladet took full responsibility for them, and some journalists followed that family and helped as best they could – Kudos .

I wrote some praising emails to AB when it happened.

https://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/y323vg/radslan-gjorde-oss-starkare-som-familj

We all remember how Erdogan stood and laughed at the NATO membership, as soon as there was going to be a vote, someone in Sweden had written something derogatory about Turkey – and then a Quran was burned.

So… a few days before Medin was released, a prominent Kurdish opponent of Erdogan was arrested by SÄPO in Gävle, and the suspected crime is “serious unauthorized handling of secret information.”

The crime is as follows –

“that someone improperly acquires, promotes, provides, or discloses information about Sweden’s defense – about defense facilities, weapons, stores, imports, exports, manufacturing methods, etc. – or about any other matter of significance, if it harms Sweden’s security to reveal the matter to a foreign power.”

It is not espionage as the requirement is to intend to convey the information to a foreign power.

Säpo’s raid was prepared – a DHL courier with some telephone repairmen nearby. Since the Thyberg scandal exploded a few days earlier, it became a bit chaotic, but if you prepare a raid with a DHL courier and telephone repairmen, it presumably has a longer lead time than the Thyberg scandal, so there is no connection to that.

SÄPO was probably quite satisfied that this was initially linked to the Thyberg scandal.

It doesn’t take much imagination to understand how this happened or how…

Zoom out now and consider the overall criminal situation in Sweden, but SÄPO is putting all its effort into a Kurdish representative who, by the way, was also indicted and acquitted during the NATO discussions.

But now he will be dragged through the courts again – almost as if the legal system is being used as a tool to harass individuals, the 80s are knocking and want to join in.

What he may have revealed about our defense that is not widely known, I am very curious to find out. Have we been exporting to the wrong side in some conflict again, and it’s top-secret embarrassing – worth following up on that criminal accusation anyway.

But this is something the group with all its moralizing doesn’t want to discuss at all apparently – they don’t want to praise the government for acting decisively, and they don’t want to connect the Kurdish representative in Gävle with Medin’s release.

It’s a bit like choosing to push ahead in the lifeboat queue when the boat is sinking – Medin and ETC let another person take the fall so they could save their own skin.

I don’t know how I would choose if presented with this dilemma and the alternative was to share a cell with 14 people who did unspeakable things to me daily for a few years – so I leave it at that.

The government has been pragmatic – the man has surely committed crimes despite being acquitted last year.

Medin is surely relieved to avoid being disgraced daily and to see his family again.

The moralizing elite with all their moralizing turns a blind eye to this because it doesn’t fit into their usual narrative that they like to hammer us with.

I bet a month’s salary that Shiyar Ali will also be acquitted this time. Anyway, he doesn’t seem to be prone to escape because he was released on the same day despite the extremely serious crimes he committed.

How often does one get caught in a sting operation by SÄPO posing as telephone operators and DHL couriers – it must have been a very serious crime on the penalty scale because the police barely investigate rapes and murders anymore, “lack of leads”…

By the way, Shiyar Ali was already upset in 2022 that Sweden agreed with Turkey to extradite 33 people to Turkey so that we could finally start the journey towards NATO membership – sacrificing a few for the greater good of all.

What makes it all a bit more spicy is that Medin was helped by the same Kurdish representative back in 2015, and his career has been built on advocating for the Kurds, and ETC really stands up for the Kurds’ cause as well.

But when it comes to choosing between being subjected to extreme treatment in a Turkish prison for a few years or seeing the family again, then the choice apparently wasn’t that difficult – clash with reality.

Sacrificing a few so that many, preferably children, can survive is the constant dilemma. Unfortunately, it is never acceptable, and no one has the right to make such a decision about another person.

There is right and wrong, and sometimes it’s black and white – ETC, Medin, and our government have committed a great injustice that is also not morally compatible with how ETC and Medin perceive themselves and earn their living.

It is also criminal to use our legal system in this way, and those who made the necessary decisions should resign.

And the government has formally confirmed that there is no connection between Shiyar Ali and the Medin case.

I don’t see how they can sweep this under the top-secret archive, so the government has knowingly lied when they are not allowed to, which is also a reason for resignation.

Our government seems to have made a habit of harassing the Kurds to appease Turkey, so they are keeping up appearances, one could say.

I hope that ETC, Medin, and our government are thoroughly scrutinized for this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if ETC comes out in a week with a slightly polished version where our government is severely condemned in the Shiyar Ali case.

By the way, do you think the opposition will go after the Tidö law with a blowtorch for this or hush it up – they would have to sacrifice ETC and Medin in that case, right?

Shiyar Ali lives in a small house on the outskirts of Gävle, was a self-employed restaurateur, as well as being involved in trade unions, Kurdish affairs, and politics. Covid seems to have hit hard on his business(es), and the last time he was convicted, he resigned from his political position within the Center Party and the restaurant/restaurants seem to have gone bankrupt. The timeline is not entirely clear.

And now they are after him again – a 61-year-old who is already down.

I actually don’t know Shiyar Ali any closer than this, but even the quick-to-judge flashbacks seemed to think that the last time he was arrested, it was obviously a job ordered by Turkey as well.

Second time’s the charm – the real image of Sweden.

An open goal for the opposition, what are they waiting for

If I have had time to put this together – what is our established media except Blankspot doing

The birth rate has decreased, we hear all the time, and I always think about how we grew up – for girls “don’t get pregnant” and a lot of help to protect themselves.

For boys “don’t get your partner pregnant”, and a lot of help to protect themselves.

Early pregnancies were bad, you were a bad person if you had children early.

Then you were supposed to build a career before having children, and women were not supposed to stay at home with children.

It was preferable to have a house before having children as well, and you get less and less for your salary.

The solution to the demographic problem became immigration, and we had a huge peak in 2015, but we are still talking about the same problem since too few entered the workforce – so that didn’t work either.

Then, when you finally have children, it is extremely expensive with sports and everything children should have – not many have five children because they can’t afford it, and as a working family, you don’t get much additional support beyond child benefits.

Then came the “fulfill yourself and get divorced” wave – it was trendy to get divorced, and you were supposed to save in a bank account so you could get divorced.

Society has not made it particularly attractive for many to become parents, and apparently we need 3 children per family to prevent the population from decreasing.

And then divorce has been encouraged.

Instead of putting families with children on a pedestal, they are considered somewhat annoying in public spaces.

I have a couple of reactionary suggestions here –

-give working families a 25% tax reduction (on income tax) per child until they are 15 years old, I believe we would have families with four children faster than you can say pregnancy.

-give everyone who has a child 150,000 SEK in a birth gift.

-allow working parents, one parent at a time, to reduce to half-time with maintained salary until the children are 12 years old.

-give everyone who wants to engage in sports clubs as coaches the right to reduce their working hours to 75% with maintained salary.

-make preschool and school attractive and have different levels.

Expensive, you say, but having 900,000 unemployed is quite expensive too, they do not support themselves and thus cost money, and now that became somewhat of a consequence of trying to solve the problem with skewed demographics, right?

Or to speak plainly – the cost of crime against welfare systems and criminality, 150 billion SEK was apparently “significantly underestimated” according to some CEO recently.

Or the enormous waste of money on things that are fun – Northvolt’s bankruptcy cost us 80 billion SEK.

I find it very difficult to understand why Sweden constantly chooses poor alternatives to try to solve its problems.

Families with children are the future – they are the ones who build a country, period.

It should be attractive to be a parent, and there are plenty of studies showing which ages are biologically best, and it’s not when you’re over 40 and finally can afford the townhouse.

What do people argue about the most in a relationship that is okay – probably money?

The background to the conflict in Pakistan and India, what the conflict could mean for Ukraine, and a brief comparison between the countries.

BACKGROUND

In 1947, British India was divided into two independent states: India and Pakistan. The division led to extensive violence and migration, largely due to religious affiliations. Jammu and Kashmir (Princely state) had a Muslim majority but was ruled by a Hindu maharaja, and they chose to join India after being invaded by Pakistani tribes.

This triggered the first war between India and Pakistan in 1947–1948, resulting in a ceasefire negotiated with the help of the UN, and establishing borders in the form of a Line of Control (LoC), dividing the region between the two countries.
Despite this, both India and Pakistan claim the entire Kashmir region even though it has been divided between them since then, and despite several attempts to mediate between the parties.

India and Pakistan have fought several wars since the first one.

1965: A war over Kashmir that ended in a stalemate.

1971: A war resulting in Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan.

1999: The Kargil Conflict, where Pakistani soldiers and militant groups infiltrated Indian positions in Kashmir.

In addition to these, there have been several border skirmishes, diplomatic crises, and terrorist attacks by militant groups.
Some of the groups involved seek independence from both India and Pakistan, while others want the region to unite with Pakistan.

Hizbul Mujahideen: One of the oldest and most influential groups, aiming to unite Kashmir with Pakistan.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT): A Pakistan-based Islamist group responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks. They have been active in Kashmir and are linked by India to several terrorist acts.

Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM): An Islamist militant group from Pakistan responsible for several attacks.

The Resistance Front (TRF): A relatively new group, believed to be a front organization for Lashkar-e-Taiba or a breakaway group. They have claimed responsibility for several attacks in recent years.

Thus, the situation in Kashmir has been tense for a long time, with numerous terrorist attacks carried out in the past:

In 1989, an organized armed uprising began in the Indian-controlled part of Jammu and Kashmir. It started with peaceful protests and discontent among the Muslim population but quickly escalated into militant uprisings.

From 1990 to 1996, violent clashes took place, leading to almost the entire Hindu population (Kashmiri Pandits) in the Kashmir Valley being forced to flee.

In 2001, the Indian Parliament was attacked, which India claimed originated from Pakistan. This led to a serious escalation where both countries mobilized troops along the border.

In 2008, over 270 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Bombay (Mumbai) over four days. India blamed Lashkar-e-Taiba, with support from the ISI (Pakistani intelligence agency).

In 2016, the so-called Uri attack took place on an Indian military base. India accused the Pakistani group Jaish-e-Mohammed and responded with targeted attacks on Pakistani territory.

In 2019, a suicide attack in Pulwama killed over 40 Indian soldiers. Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility. India responded with airstrikes on Balakot in Pakistan – the first time in decades that Indian aircraft attacked inside Pakistan.

From 2023 to 2025, The Resistance Front has carried out several minor attacks and targeted killings of Hindus, local politicians, and Indian soldiers.

Other factors contributing to the conflict besides Kashmir

Religious and ethnic tensions between the Muslim majority in Kashmir and the Hindu-dominated Indian state.

Political alienation – many young people in Kashmir feel marginalized by India’s central government.

Economic underdevelopment in certain parts of the region.

Militarization and police abuses, including allegations of human rights violations, leading to radicalization.

External influence, especially from Pakistan, which India claims funds and trains militant groups.

Water resources
The Indus River system consists of six major rivers: Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej. Several of these have their sources in Indian-controlled Kashmir and flow into Pakistan. Pakistan is highly dependent on water supply from India for both drinking water and agriculture.

In 1960, an agreement called the “Indus Water Treaty” was signed with the World Bank as a mediator. The agreement mainly stipulated that:

Pakistan gets exclusive control over the western rivers: Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab.

India gets control over the eastern rivers: Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej.

India can use the western rivers for non-consumptive purposes like hydropower, as long as it does not reduce the flow to Pakistan.

The agreement is considered very successful as it has been upheld for many years despite the conflicts, but this time India seems to have chosen to partially violate it (if the available information is accurate). Some more extreme voices in India want to completely discard the agreement. This would pose enormous problems for Pakistan.
Water resources have not been a basis for the conflicts before, even though India has previously threatened to cut off the supply.

The relationship between India and Pakistan is undeniably complex. Historical events naturally influence it, as well as geopolitical interests, religion, and to some extent, water supply for Pakistan.

CURRENT CONFLICT

In April 2025, the conflict escalated with the attack in Pahalgam, an Indian-controlled tourist resort. 26 people, mostly Hindu tourists, were killed. The group The Resistance Front (TRF) initially claimed responsibility but later retracted it. India accused Pakistan of supporting the attack, which Islamabad denied.

In response, on May 7, India carried out “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine sites in Pakistan, including locations in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad, which India claimed were terrorist infrastructure. Pakistan reported that 31 civilians were killed and 57 injured in the attacks, stating they had shot down several Indian fighter jets and also fired artillery.

Recent reports suggest that India and Pakistan engaged in an aerial combat involving 125 fighter jets.

This escalation has led to a serious diplomatic crisis, with severed diplomatic ties, closed borders, and restricted airspace. International leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, have expressed concern and called for restraint.

HOW DOES THE CONFLICT AFFECT UKRAINE IN THE WAR WITH RUSSIA?

It is difficult to make a comprehensive analysis, as much depends on how it unfolds, whether it escalates into full-scale war or de-escalates.

One immediate impact is, of course, the shift in focus, with the media now reporting more on the new conflict than on the Ukraine war.
This could lead to Ukraine being forgotten, especially among private individuals, which may reflect in reduced donations.
If the conflict escalates, there is also the risk that major aid organizations shift some of their efforts.
Diplomatically, the India-Pakistan conflict naturally receives more attention today.

If the recent events lead to full-scale war, the countries will likely start competing for available military resources, both in terms of weapons and ammunition. This may affect Ukraine more in terms of ammunition than Russia, which, along with North Korea, seems to have a relatively good supply. Ukraine is more dependent on external partners, who may choose to deliver to either India or Pakistan.

China is close to both Russia and Pakistan and may intervene and threaten India.
India, on the other hand, claims neutrality regarding the Ukraine war but could choose to support Ukraine if China gets involved. India does not directly supply Ukraine, so it may not have a significant practical impact. However, India may see China as a significant threat and decide to align with Russia to prevent Chinese involvement.
The USA, on its part, will also be drawn into the conflict if it chooses to support India, in which case Ukraine may also receive support from the USA. Although US support is minimal at the moment, the mineral agreement is recent, so we cannot predict what may happen.

The oil price is at risk of rising, as it usually does in conflicts, which will benefit Russia.

Unfortunately, the conflict is likely to benefit Russia more than it benefits Ukraine. So, for the sake of the populations of India and Pakistan, and for Ukraine’s part, we must hope that full-scale war does not break out, or if it does, that it will be short-lived. It is not far-fetched to suspect that the attacks that initiated the conflict were orchestrated from Russia, but considering all the years of unrest and terrorist attacks, it may have been only a matter of time.

FACTS ABOUT INDIA AND PAKISTAN

Military Capacity and Nuclear Weapons

India
Military personnel: Approximately 1.4 million active soldiers.
Nuclear weapons: ~130–140 nuclear warheads.

Pakistan
Military personnel: Approximately 650,000 active soldiers.
Nuclear weapons: ~140–150 nuclear warheads.

Both countries possess nuclear weapons; the difference is that India has a “no first use” doctrine that, at least on paper, prevents them from striking first. Pakistan lacks a similar doctrine.

International Alliances and Relations
India
USA: Strategic partnership, especially in defense and technology.
Russia: Historical defense partner, although ties have weakened in recent years.
Japan and Australia: Part of the Quad cooperation to counter China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

Pakistan
China: Strong ally, particularly in economics and defense.
Saudi Arabia and Turkey: Key partners in economic and military cooperation.
USA: Former close relations, especially during the Cold War and the war on terror, but today the ties are not as strong.

Demographics and Economy
India
Population: Approximately 1.46 billion (2025).
GDP per capita: Estimated to be around 2,382 USD (2025).
Economy: One of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with strong sectors in IT, services, and manufacturing.

Pakistan
Population: Approximately 240.5 million (2025).
GDP per capita: Estimated to be around 1,365 USD (2025).
Economy: Facing challenges such as high inflation, indebtedness, and dependence on international aid.

Recently, Channel 4 in the UK released a documentary, Groomed – a national scandal, where relatives of those convicted in “grooming gangs” are exposed for actively campaigning to discredit the victims and trying to provide “redress” for those convicted, causing some uproar in the UK. The program featured chat logs where the relatives discuss the victims in extremely derogatory (sexual) terms, and one can almost understand how this could have happened in the first place when reading what the relatives wanted to do to the victims – the irony…

The open wound of the “grooming scandals” in the UK, where efforts were made for a long time to smooth things over, has been covered sufficiently by the BBC with many reports for a comprehensive view. The link below provides a good summary of the events from Sky.

Consider that it is 12-13-year-old girls who have been gang-raped hundreds of times, tortured, prostituted, forced into drug addiction, and held captive, so the crimes are absolutely extreme on the scale. A conservative estimate is 4000 victims, but since just the town of Telford had 1000-1500, there is likely a significant number of unreported cases.

https://news.sky.com/story/grooming-gangs-scandal-timeline-what-happened-what-inquiries-there-were-and-how-starmer-was-involved-after-elon-musks-accusations-13285021

With a bit of luck, this might be resolved now, and above all, accountability should be demanded, which the UK still has – compensation has previously been blocked by various authorities, but in this case, millions of pounds per victim should actually be paid.

As a parent of girls, I must admit that this would be an absolute nightmare if one ended up in this situation as a parent – imagine your child being torn apart in front of you, and the authorities do everything NOT to stop it, allowing it to continue without your ability to intervene.

I believe that the reluctance had a lot to do with the political climate in the country at the time – if one tried to address a grooming gang and its ethnicity around the turn of the millennium, it was one’s last moments before one’s career died.

The reporter who is widely recognized as the person who brought the issue to light faced resistance initially, but had a boss who chose the truth – and if his boss had been a coward, it would never have been exposed at that time.

The UK is quite complex – you all remember the absolutely ENORMOUS scandal in the Catholic Church, which involved the priests’ relationships with minors that the Vatican tried to cover up for as long as possible.

But then came the orphanage scandal in Ireland and the UK, which was no joke – children in orphanages were sexually tortured and murdered by the staff.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/may/20/irish-catholic-schools-child-abuse-claims

We lived in the UK from 2016 to 2019, and our son was young, so we were required to have visits from home visitors. We avoided it until we moved, but it is high risk – the municipality sends a person to evaluate the parents, and if they find serious irregularities, the children can be taken into custody. Of course, they don’t say anything while they are there, but they write a report, and one day the police knock on the door and take the children.

The reason is adoption, and social services can receive significant under-the-table payments for facilitating the adoption of children taken into custody.

The weakness in the system is that the report from home visitors is almost 100% of the evidence and enjoys the highest trust – social services naturally need approval from the court, but they rely solely on the report and take everything as truth.

If, as a parent, you try to challenge the removal that was done under the pretext of being urgent, you have the authorities against you, who in this case do not want their business exposed at all and do their best to undermine you.

The funny (or not so funny…) thing is that they prefer migrant families with a weak position in the country, and when we started to investigate after becoming suspicious, we found Facebook groups of Portuguese parents who had joined forces to pursue legal action to try to get their children back and be able to move back to Portugal.

Honestly – if a social worker shows up at your home on a Saturday morning at 8 o’clock, with two small children running around, and you and your partner have just argued about what to do during the day, how many criticisms do you think you would receive?

I usually value personal integrity highly and can get quite upset about intrusions into it. If I had started to be questioned by a home visitor in my own home, the likelihood is high that I would have reacted defensively – the report would probably state that as a father, I was aggressive and perceived as very threatening, and then it would be extrapolated to the safety of the children or something

A common thread in all three incidents above is that the victims and their parents have consistently been hindered by the justice system and social authorities, and both the victims and their parents have had their lives taken away from them – they are like empty shells after this if they haven’t taken their own lives.

Regarding the Catholic orphanages, millions of children went through these institutions in the end

In the case of grooming gangs, 4000 is considered a conservative figure. Now that Musk has intervened in the debate, if one mentions 250,000, there are accusations of listening to him, but there are certainly many cases, one can probably assert with certainty. The figure of 4000 is from the Conservative task force, which over 12 months arrested 550 perpetrators and rescued 4000 children, so it is grossly misleading.

Child removals are also on an industrial scale in the UK – just the Portuguese group of devastated parents was quite large, and it is estimated that around 30,000 children are taken into custody annually in the UK.

Note that only 300 adoptions annually involve parents in the UK with children from abroad, but 3000 adoptions annually are from children taken into custody, so over 10% are adopted from that group.

In Sweden, out of 3500 cases, it is 25-50, so only 1.5% at most for comparison.

And the central issue – all those in the dock manage to stall endlessly and then receive ridiculously low sentences, except for some scapegoat who gets caught.

I would argue that all three examples are symptoms of an underlying problem where there is a complete inability to protect minors in the UK as promised, and where the authorities in many cases are enablers if not perpetrators.

Anyway, when we lived there, we chose to be very cautious because we felt that something was not right, there were undercurrents in society that one could sense but not see.

Sexual abuse of children is also increasing in Sweden.

It also seems that around 35% of the abuses occur in the home, and considering how actively the 65% that occur outside the home have been tried to be concealed, my conclusion is that as far as possible, children should NOT be taken from their families – which I believe is Sweden’s current policy?

You can provide support, yes, but taking children into custody doesn’t seem to be a good idea. Sweden takes custody of 3,500 children annually, with 18,000 in foster care. So, 0.0035% of the population is taken into custody annually, compared to the UK’s 0.0044% – slightly over 30% more in the UK.

Then you have all the missing children – at some point there were about 700 in Sweden, 70,000 in the UK, and 700,000 in the USA.

In Germany, 100,000 children disappear every year, and in Europe, it’s 250,000 – you can quickly see that the number for Europe is likely underestimated, as the UK should be closer to 130,000, and it’s not very likely that Germany and the UK account for all missing children.

Perhaps this shows that we have some control in Sweden, and I think that as a constantly moving family, we always have to deal with schools and municipalities when we move out – one needs to be on guard.

Reflect on these numbers and then think a bit about how the children in orphanages and the vulnerable children in the UK are doing – one can actually wonder how those 130,000 who go missing in the UK each year are faring.

It feels like we have a bigger problem than we want to admit here in general, even though not all missing individuals remain missing, of course – those who have been raped hundreds of times by grooming gangs did come back home, for example.

When, finally, after a journalist refused to give up, a larger hidden problem area is exposed, the number of vulnerable individuals always skyrockets, and the crimes are utterly extreme.

In Sweden, we have our very own “grooming scandal” where home care staff subjected users to sexual abuse for a long time, and municipality after municipality was/is not the least bit interested in investigating the extent of the problem – and in several cases, caregivers’ misconduct (sexual abuse) was known without the municipalities taking action.

In Uppsala, apparently the entire elderly care committee resigned after the scandal, which was welcome even though a certain party refused for a long time, you can probably guess which one.

The manager was under investigation for a crime but got the job just before everything exploded – unclear if they resigned?

https://www.unt.se/nyheter/uppsala/artikel/var-misstankt-for-brott-blev-chef-i-uppsalas-aldreomsorg/jowp9m7l

Södertälje also wanted to check the criminal records of all employees in home care and childcare to protect the users, but the Parliamentary Ombudsman put a stop to it – deemed a discriminatory measure.

How is that discriminatory you might quickly think – if no crime has been committed, nothing happens, but if one is high-risk for the elderly, they are not allowed to continue working. Whose integrity is more important, perhaps the Parliamentary Ombudsman should consider.

Now that we have reached this point, some have already prepared a comment that “these are isolated incidents and not a sign of a larger problem in Sweden,” so I post below –

If you now consider the case of Vera in Uppsala, who repeatedly called the responsible authorities in the municipality and informed them of what had happened, but they ignored her and continued to send the man there – how large do you think the unreported cases are

The municipality naturally did its best to prevent the problem from becoming widely known in the media, but once it was exposed, they took action – but it took a persistent journalist who had the time, energy, determination, and could work on this during paid working hours.

Our children and elderly are the most vulnerable people we have in society, and it’s hard to say anything other than that we don’t succeed completely, but we have done better than the UK.

The more I read about this, the more convinced I become that the role of the family must be strengthened and supported. Even in the sense that parents should have more time for their children and parents themselves.

If I work and have no time for my children and parents, society pays someone else to do that job. Wouldn’t it be better if I had that time without being financially penalized during the periods in life when it’s needed – with young children and very old parents?

Yes, there are children and elderly without families, but many countries seem to have an overreliance on the state taking care of their own rather than through families.

In cases where an issue has gained attention, it’s often journalists with strong support behind them who can, during paid working hours, do thorough groundwork and then get it published on a major platform that is picked up by other media. A scoop on johanno1.se stays on johanno1.se – it won’t earn any awards.

The investigative reporters are hindered, and in cases where their employers deem the subject too sensitive, nothing happens.

Reasonable assumption that there is a large unreported number.

All the very elderly who are demented?

Reasonable to assume there is a large unreported number.

The authorities compiling the statistics only go by confirmed cases.

Reasonable to assume there is a large unreported number.

What is interesting in this context is that I have only highlighted misconduct in things that are supposed to function.

In Sweden, 26,000 sexual offenses are committed per year, and children are three times more likely than adults to be victims. Considering all the above pointing to an unreported number – it’s a reasonable assumption that there is an unreported number here too?

A group I could imagine has an unreported number is sexual offenses in close relationships in whatever constellation it may be where it can go on for many years before the victim leaves.

Many of the convictions for child rape are also hundreds of rapes over a couple of years before it’s exposed, but it’s just a tick in the statistics, I guess.

When I lived in Angola, I wanted to save money, so I settled in the middle of the ghetto (museque) without telling my employer so I could save most of my monthly allowance.

I hadn’t completely lost it, so I ended up in a house in an area where old war veterans lived, armed of course, and the area probably had lower crime rates than the Vatican. No criminal with an ounce of survival instinct set foot in that area.

But I learned a lot, and when the social safety net was non-existent, the community reshaped itself to take on that role.

Yes, they would throw gasoline and tires on murderers, pedophiles, burglars (because they often killed), and set them on fire. Crime was low, so children were relatively safe, and they looked after the elderly in the family.

It is directly embarrassing that a poverty-stricken residential area in Angola populated by old war veterans takes better care of their oldest seniors and children completely free of charge than we do when we pay a lot for it, but maybe that’s the problem. They solve it within the family and the community, and we try to do it at a national level with a great deal of trust and no background checks?

Can’t we as taxpayers demand that this works?

By what right do authorities and politicians always try to cover up as soon as it gets embarrassing – because that is consistent in all the examples I have mentioned. Instead of directly going after the perpetrators with a pitchfork, the victims and their parents are suspected, or everything is dragged out in a bureaucratic long process ad absurdum hoping it will disappear.

In the UK, they have even gone so far as authorities and the justice system actively opposing compensation to the victims after ten years, which I find strange. Then one really goes to the extreme to not do the right thing.

Labour also initially torpedoed a national inquiry that would have the power for officials to testify under oath, to instead become local regional investigations which apparently did not have the power to compel officials to testify under oath – making it much more difficult, right?

But now they have also delayed the diluted proposal for so long that the opposition now saw their chance to start hammering on them.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/apr/10/yvette-cooper-grooming-gang-inquiries-misinformation

So this is 2025 and already in 2011 the first alarms came, it is a national trauma and the government is doing its best 14 years later to not fully investigate this – when the overarching accusation is that authorities and the justice system have tried to cover it up and avoid addressing this for all these years.

Which is a massive betrayal to all the thousands of victims, one must say.
