Svenska kraftnÀt is starting a renewed procurement of strategic reserves for the winter of 2025/2026 today. Unlike the interrupted procurement last autumn, a new methodology for assessing the cost-effectiveness of bids when reducing the volume will be applied.

Regarding the previous procurement:

The procurement of a strategic reserve was concluded on October 7 this year without accepting any bids, as it was not possible to accept any of the bids received in the procurement according to the regulations.

If I were to guess, it has to do with no power reserve being procured for the winter. According to what was said at the time, it was because the required price was too high. Too high according to some EU regulation. This should be obvious to everyone. Either the regulation was misunderstood, which based on recent news seems to have been the case.
