Britain is moving forces to the Middle East, including military aircraft, due to the violence, according to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose Foreign Minister David Lammy is reported to have been in contact with Iran.

– Our constant message is de-escalation, and therefore everything we do, all discussions we have, are about de-escalation, says Starmer.

Starmer further states that he does not rule out defending Israel against Iranian attacks, despite Iranian threats of retaliation against British bases if London decides to support Israel, according to The Guardian.

I have no idea who will demonstrate for the mullahs. Possibly the “white/Swedish” left 🟥, but that’s just to express hatred towards the USA 🇺🇸 and Israel 🇮🇱. The Iranian diaspora hates the mullahs and often supports Israel (I know several in that category myself). Arab Palestinian activists are Sunni Muslims (with a small shard of Christians), Shiites (like the mullahs) are considered the dirtiest in their world.

Since the system works so well, as in the USA.

Less sarcastically, I imagine a combination of systems. Where half of the seats are filled by “winner takes all” and half are compensatory mandates. Each member must represent a party, each voter chooses a candidate and a party (doesn’t have to be the same). For example, I might think that a certain Social Democrat would best represent my constituency and is lacking even if I don’t agree with the tax policy, and therefore check this person, but want the Moderates to have a chance at the compensatory mandates.

Iran is dependent on being able to export oil to China through that route, so they probably wouldn’t think it’s such a brilliant idea.

Attacking ships in the Hormuz would involve the rest of the Arab world that is dependent on the strait, as well as a large part of the world that is dependent on oil.

This could lead to a ground invasion in Iran, something Israel itself is not capable of.
