Now the Nordic countries have written their own statement which was a bit more forceful and more to my liking The EU was too cowardly. Today I have committed a crime and tried to get some input on the Baltic states in another thread - many good answers but some "they would never dare" or "we'll crush the Russians in two days". We must be able to discuss the difficult issues - if nothing else, Ukraine has suffered greatly for over +3 years for us. We must have self-awareness and be self-critical, Ukraine has made a couple of big mistakes when we in the West forced them because we thought we were Superman. If we are to be able to pave over that sh1tty country someday, we need to be a bit more cunning actually - after all, it takes two to tango.

Yes, you are right, that would be a strong coalition, and probably more decisive.

A NorthEU. I think England would gladly join that, there was a shortage of craftsmen after Brexit, as it became harder for the Poles to enter.

Europe does not believe in itself, Europe has not had to make decisions that risk ending up in war since ww2, except for England, and the Falklands War.

The USA, or the UN, has made those decisions for Europe.

This has the potential to become so much bigger than any peacekeeping effort in the Middle East or the Balkans, and now we cannot rely on either the UN or the USA, we must handle it ourselves.

And NATO, what happens if Russia attacks a country that has soldiers in Ukraine? What about Article 5 then, if the country is already a belligerent party in Ukraine? I know of at least one major country in the West that will not participate in that case, maybe not otherwise either.

These are complicated matters, and the coalition of the willing must be 100% united to fight to the end. For Europe, it is a decision that cannot be revoked once it is made. The risk of escalation is enormous, and Russia can strike anywhere, but Europe cannot retreat, only strike back harder...
