I agree, the system we have today is not optimal at all.

Currently, we do not have a major electricity shortage in Sweden even though the Karlshamn power plant has to step in now and then. We export more than we import over the course of a year.

The problem with nuclear power is that it seems as difficult to implement as solving the transfer problem. What I mean is that until we have it in place, only wind power (and solar power) can be relatively quickly expanded as needs increase.

I would also like to see an expansion of hydropower, what is possible. Even though it is not much, it is still clean energy. But then again, the issue is the transfer.

That’s how it is, there are many free services for this.

The problem is complex, it is not enough to build wind power in southern Sweden. There must be stabilizing power, such as hydropower or nuclear power.

Hydropower is difficult to expand in southern Sweden, so nuclear power or significantly increased transmission from northern Sweden, which has hydropower, remains.

Now nothing is being done, just a few PowerPoint presentations about the future smart grid.

Who will be the winners with a smart grid?

Among others, EON, which is hindering the expansion of transmission to the south.

It is time to revoke the concession for all grid owners as they do not act in the public interest. There is no reason for private companies to own infrastructure of national interest. Imagine if it were the same with the road network and we divided the country into different price areas depending on how much the roads were used, and we were forced to pay tolls as soon as we moved from one area to another.

We don’t hear about it anymore, although I admit I haven’t looked for information either.

Until we have a solution, we will be dependent on wind power and probably have to expand it (although no one will be interested when it’s going to be replaced anyway).

I guess we will see really high electricity prices in 5-10 years if nothing is done.

There is information that EON received 31 billion for the closure of Ringhals.

EON is a major electricity producer and the largest grid owner in southern Sweden. They earn immensely from high electricity prices and are not the least bit interested in receiving more electricity from north to south.

Swedish power plants disconnect and argue that the “market,” i.e., EON, does not demand higher transmission to southern Sweden.
