Erdogan took the opportunity to lock up the leader of the opposition now that Europe is in need of Turkey’s support. The hope was that it could go a bit under the radar.

However, the Turkish stock market reacted very negatively, and now there are major demonstrations, especially in Istanbul.

In reply to Analytikern. Hm, I wonder what the ulterior motive behind that statement is. Nuclear power plants haven't been bombed because they are nuclear power plants, at least not yet. They could place American operators in the power stations and combined heat and power plants instead, so they would be useful.
