What risks were there? 2014, young brothers from our village, with the same convictions as me, wanted to resist and did resist the Russian occupation regime, and decided to carry out an attack on the personnel. It turned out then that there were too many personnel, meaning a fight broke out, two were killed, one escaped wounded, and I was the fourth one in the village, and they just basically swept me up and imprisoned me. That is, they tortured me, I signed that I was with them, although I was not with them; I was sitting at home on the day the attack occurred, I was at my home. That's it, and I was imprisoned under the terrorism article. I thought, I won't wait until the village, I'll stop, pray peacefully, by the roadside without bothering anyone. I stopped, opened the trunk, stood by the trunk, I'm praying, and at the end I felt that someone stopped; I even thought to myself, is it possible that on this entire highway there was no other option for where to stop, other than next to a person who is praying. When I finished, they suddenly accelerated and drove away; I only saw that some Priora had passed. I went to the city, in the city my brothers and acquaintances told me that someone suspicious was hanging around my car, someone was hanging around, looking, peeking, looking underneath; I thought that something had been planted; if you've been marked, then they start the clock, the days, your time is running out, sooner or later you'll either be imprisoned or killed, so here you must preserve yourself to the maximum. We checked the car, there was nothing, and I went home. In my trunk, I had a box of small cucumbers for pickling at home. I was driving home, and at one of the traffic lights I saw it turn red, I saw in the mirror that behind two cars—meaning two cars are standing—the third and fourth cars pulled out of the flow and were watching. And my heart told me that it was for me. I started right on the red, they drove after me, we drove around the city for a while, roughly speaking; I tried to get away from them, but it didn't work, they cut me off, pulled me out of the car, they almost beat me to death there, a bag over the head, hands behind the back, they started putting something into my hands, meaning they pried my fingers open, put something in, stuffed things into my pockets. That's it, they found witnesses, their own people there, they had witnesses with them, they picked me up. In the car, there was a pile of cartridges, 5.45 from an RPK, one magazine, in the pockets of the jeans a grenade, an EVKA, and in the other pocket the primer lay separately. In other words, I am such a sick person that I drive with a primer separately in my pocket. And all this was the reason to, so to speak, detain me. Then they deliver me to the center for countering extremism, that is in Nalchik, they bring you in through the back entrance; if they bring you in through the front, then they have to record you—so-and-so entered at such-and-such time—but if they bring you in from the back, then officially you weren't there, into the torture chamber. They led me into their office and started torturing me, meaning they beat you, strangle you, attack you mentally, so to speak, use foul language, then they connect the electricity, the "hurdy-gurdy." Some endure longer, some endure less. At that moment I prayed that my heart would stop, so to speak. They didn't plant heroin, but some other drug; they stuffed it into my sock. I was wearing a sweater, and they stuffed a pen that fires small-caliber cartridges into the pocket. As if I were some kind of professional saboteur; no one questioned how I could have gotten all this, considering I had been released from camp only six hours prior. Instead of putting me in a regional prison and searching for where I got it from? And that was it; they tried to pin on me again that I wanted to join in Syria, to leave; they gave me 6 years. I served in many places across Russia; most recently I was in my own republic, and before that in the Saratov region, in Kazan, and in Orenburg; I served my first term in Chuvashia. In other words, if you are from the Caucasus and you are charged under the "Terrorism" article, they do everything they can to tear you away from home. Besides abusing you throughout your entire sentence, they also make sure you are as far as possible from your relatives; not everyone has the means to travel 3,000 kilometers for a three-day visit, so they transport everyone away—to the Far East, mostly Siberia—further away from home.

Speaker 4

So they are changing the places of stay; so, as I understand it, you were taken all across the territory of the Russian Federation.

Speaker 1

There are torture camps, special ones. If it concerns a Muslim, then in the Russian, how should I say, prison system is built to break a person, not to reform them; no one goes there to reform for their crimes, they go there embittered and come out broken. If, so to speak, this whole thieves' system, they break them through signatures and all that, but for Muslims, breaking them through signatures is not an option, they understand that, and what do they do? They lock them in the isolator on a permanent basis, starve them, beat them in the camps—that is, biased treatment. In one of the cases, I was in Chuvashia, and we had 10 people in the whole camp, Muslims, all like me, meaning all under the article, terrorists to them. And almost all of us went through the punishment cell—meaning you are released, I am brought in, and it's a constant carousel like that. Officially, a person has no right to be in the punishment cell for more than 15 days, but they did 15 plus 15, meaning you are in the isolator for 30 days. I served 30 days, came out, reached the camp, bought some things, and then one of the administration employees at the time comes and says, "Get dressed, you're going to the punishment cell." Right away. I started snapping at him, like, why did you release me then, I would have rather stayed there. And then there was one of the case officers, and I ask him a question, what do you want from us? Why are you picking on us? I say, well, just lock us up, we will sit there, why are you tossing us back and forth like this? He says, "Convert to Christianity, and we'll leave you alone." That is, to break a person's ideology, they pressure them on this; they consider themselves Christians, although they are clearly godless, and Christianity has no relation to it at all, and they even want to involve others in it—that's just on the surface, but otherwise, there is torture, abuse, and such.

When did you leave detention? In 2021, they discovered a disease in me, let's say, a bad one, it qualified for medical discharge, meaning I had the right to be released from the camp due to illness, they had no right to keep me in prison any longer; I was released, and literally 3-4 days after my release, summons to the departments began—again threats, etc. I went to Moscow for treatment, and while I was there, four of my close brothers were killed, tortured—first killed, well, it was just brutal, they gouged out their eyes, filled their mouths with mounting foam, this is a very well-known case from 2021 in our republic that occurred; I was fifth on the list. What we saw in Bucha also happens in the Caucasus; it's just that when it happens in the Caucasus, it's an internal Russian problem, nobody pays attention to it, but now Ukrainians have seen, unfortunately, what is happening and what kind of Russian comrades and neighbors they are; I realized that there are no options for returning, and I thought about Georgia, but there were no options for Georgia because it was compromised by South Ossetia, a sell-out country, it lay down before the Russians, and somehow a road opened, an illegal road to Ukraine; I paid about one and a half thousand dollars to guides, and without knowing what at all is happening here, absolutely nothing at all, I moved to Ukraine. I mostly didn't go anywhere, lived in one place and district, tried to work somewhere, do something, earn myself a piece of bread, but I understood that I would need to handle some documents in the future, in any case. And around December, we were among—there was a Muslim environment, there were three Crimean Tatars and brothers from the Caucasus, many of them. And we tried to, as it were, stick together. And one of the Crimean Tatars, Abu-Isa, he was the senior of the Crimea battalion then, he introduced us to one of the GUR guys, who said generally that in Russia, an attack will likely happen. If you want, there is an opportunity for revenge. I immediately made the decision for myself that I would not go anywhere if something happened. And many Caucasians made the same decision. So on the 22nd we met, I was at home. On the 24th, they called me in the morning and said the war had started. I took a backpack, threw my things in, closed the door, and only after two months did I get back into the apartment.

Speaker 4

Tell me everything, go on, where were you, in which unit did you fight?

Speaker 1

Initially, it was the Crimea battalion. And he helped us so that we could pass through. And from the first day, from the 24th until the end of the Kyiv operation, we were in the Belarusian direction. That is, KPO, Matyezhin, Severinevka—we worked there. We worked as intelligence, as a sabotage group. And if I am not mistaken, and my memory doesn't fail me, it was one of the SSO special units, though I don't know which specific one, and our group. That is, we entered in three groups and encircled the fire station. There were about 20-24 people in the fire station at the time. And the Russians had already dispersed around it. And I started moving to the side to peek at the fight going on there. Anyway, it stretches there. We were kind of sitting here, not having arrived [at the] flank, and a fight was going on a hundred meters away. And I was moving towards it, thinking maybe I could help with something. So I approach the hole, saw nothing. And next, a breach from a strike. Out of habit, I didn't put the assault rifle down, but came out from around the corner with the assault rifle. And opposite me, standing there 5-6 meters away, well, maximum 7 meters. It was a Wagnerite. He was confused. He didn't even understand what was happening. I just fired. He fell. We made a very big mistake that they took the body and didn't drag it away into the thickets somewhere. Because for reasons beyond our control, the operation failed. That is, we cleared [the area], the center failed, meaning one group bypassed, cut [them] off from the forest, well, from another forest, but the center failed, and we had to pull back. But we trod a little path that no one knew about. That is, there was a mined minefield there, we ran through it, as it turns out, and could enter there next time. But we killed that one there and he lay near the fence, which was mined; they knew there was a minefield there, and that no one would go there. And the next day, according to aerial surveillance, a Mavic was already flying, passing over, there were already dug-out positions, meaning they had already positioned themselves from that corner. That is, we made a small mistake, that they didn't hide the body. We were in Bakhmut until the end, until the very last, meaning we were among the last to leave Bakhmut, we already participated in urban combat, then the Road of Life, Khromova, we were there, at that time Kraken was clearing [the area], Kraken had just arrived there, they had fights, we worked a bit to the side of them, as it turns out. In 1924, there were two severe wounds in the group; Arab was wounded, and his leg was crushed, and my brother from Dagestan had his leg torn off near Klishchiivka; it was right after this that we moved to the Kharkiv direction, meaning we participated in the Klishchiivka direction too. We completely changed into uniforms and put armbands on. We made an agreement through the battalion so that they wouldn't look towards the village at all. So that their own wouldn't hit us. We carried out the operation. Four of us went in. And began to sweep. We passed by the Russian positions. They didn't even realize. They just kept going along with their own thing. And… with a face like mine. One of their own to them. That's it, we passed through. We reached the civilians. Instead of five maximum, there turned out to be nine of them. And our entry was through a minefield. It was all littered with OZNs there. Or via the road. We wouldn't have made it. We would have been spotted one hundred percent. Because from that side, from the Ukrainian side, that's how it worked out. But we came out of the forest from the Russian side. Only the minefield. We went in, nine people. Took them. Started leading them out. It turns out it was also through the minefield. The first person from our group passed through. The civilians started moving. Wherever the Russians went, there was the killing of the civilian population. They are still fighting in Africa. What business does Russia have in Africa, that they send their Wagner there and kill the civilian population. The same thing here. Then why do we need this meter of land, plus or minus? Right on it? Yes. We moved to the other side. If I'm not mistaken, the 96th brigade participated. The 95th. The 95th. We were introduced to one of the battalions, and we worked on their sector. Meaning, we would go in, do our job, and come out. Of the memorable things we did, there was a village. It was semi-encircled by us. That is, the Ukrainians semi-encircled it. And there was a forest that directly touched the village. And we were told that the Kadyrovites were in this forest, meaning in the village there were Kadyrovites, marines, and remnants of Wagner, meaning they remained there. And they fought back very hard. We have to give them credit; they really fought back very well. That is, there were attempts. And the SSO tried to enter, and the battalion itself tried to storm it. Meaning, they put up a decent defense. One day, we went in for reconnaissance. I don't know why we took so many weapons with us. Almost every one of us had a grenade launcher or an AT-4, something heavy like that. And the locals, who were at the position, said that there was likely a machine gun in that house. We had equipment. The distance was about a kilometer. We looked and saw a pillbox in the window. Actually a pillbox, a house. That is, we worked for them as a counter-sabotage group. We helped them in the Sumy region—an ideal place for crawling around. Especially since Sinezh was operating there at the time. That is, Sinezh would enter, terrorize, wipe out positions, and leave. In other words, they worked for intimidation. We joined the 117th brigade through acquaintances. Good guys. There are really combat-ready guys there. Despite what they say about the TDF, there are very combat-ready guys there. And we began counter-measures. That is, they enter, we look for them; we enter, they look for us. And from such a successful, so to speak, "fishing trip" of ours, they themselves admitted that they had two losses. Two Sinezh [members], they provided the names and surnames. We entered, laid mines, and a Sinezh group hit our mines, and they had two losses. They admitted this themselves on their channels. We worked in the Sumy direction; winter came. Well, winter forest, Madik, you'd be spotted in five seconds.

After that, we moved to the Donetsk direction, Serebryanka; we participated in Serebryanka. So to speak, unsuccessfully for us. Three outings, three of our cars were burned. We were evacuating the wounded there, helping, and we got surrounded once. We got out of it, thank God. We were in Slaviansk, at the base. And after that, the story of the 33rd OSH P is generally connected to the fact that we came here based on trust. We trust the commanders here. We have known these commanders since '22. Some since '22, some a bit later, but we know the commanders. We have the option to work with any, roughly speaking, structures in Ukraine, with any brigades that know us; we could have worked. We chose the 33rd OSH P because of trust. I know the commander and understand that if something happens, he won't abandon us. That is, he will help us, pull us out, do everything to extract the forces.

I began to develop the group more in long-range strikes. That is, we went to training; the guys trained for long-range drones, and for strike drones, and for reconnaissance, reconnaissance drones. That is, the 33rd OSH P gave the opportunity to train in things that I could not have obtained in other places. Yes, we know how to fight in the forest, we know how to crawl, but specifically for new equipment, so to speak, my group has a "Vector" aircraft that costs 300 thousand euros. What was relevant a month ago may now be completely irrelevant. We flew darts, on certain frequencies. That's it, now we have to re-flash or fly on other frequencies. That is, the war is evolving, and so the person must evolve. Infantry is good, you can't win a war without infantry, meaning the trenches must hold, but now it's mainly the sky.

Speaker 4

What combat missions are you and your people currently carrying out in the Hollywood direction?

Speaker 1

Strikes deep behind enemy lines.
