Ukrainians, men and women, our defenders, the 36th day of our nationwide defense after eight years of war in Donbas is coming to a close. It is hard to believe, but March has already passed completely unnoticed, the flow of time is somehow not even recorded. Every day and every night for us have effectively become the same. One and the same day. One and the same night. And one task for everyone: to defend themselves. To protect the people, to hold back the invaders, to drive them out.<\/p>\n

Throughout this March and 5 days of February, the invaders have been trying to break in and establish themselves in our home from different sides, from the land, from the sky, from the sea. They crawl, they fly, they swim. They have as much evil as they have a thirst for destruction, which makes them seem not like people, but something from the other side. Some kind of monsters who burn and loot, attack and try to kill. Some kind of hellish chimeras. But when you are on your own land, everything helps you.<\/p>\n

The land itself, the rivers, and every person, every single one of our people, even those from whom we did not expect it before. We have endured many times more than the enemy thought. They said 3 or 5 days. They thought that would be enough for them to seize our entire state. And it is already 36. And we stand and will continue to fight, to the end. As long as strength lasts, as long as there are opportunities, so that not a single monster remains on our land.<\/p>\n

So that if there are chimeras, then they are native and kind ones who protect us.<\/p>\n

I am sure that for each and every one of you, it is extremely pleasant to read and watch news that our Ukrainian cities are gradually being liberated from the occupiers. This is true. Our armed forces, national police, national guard, intelligence\u2014they are doing great, they have my absolute gratitude. North of Kyiv, in the Chernihiv direction, and in the Sumy region, the expulsion of the occupiers continues.<\/p>\n

They themselves realize that they can no longer sustain the intensity of combat operations that they were able to provide in the first half of March. But we must also realize that for the Russian military, this is part of their tactics. All this is not just for nothing. We know their plans, we know what they are planning and what they are doing. We know that they are withdrawing from those directions where we are beating them, to concentrate on other very important ones, where it may be very difficult for us. Therefore, it is very important for everyone to show restraint. Restraint in emotions, restraint in experiences.<\/p>\n

We all want victory equally. All equally. But there will be battles ahead. A very difficult path still needs to be traveled for us to obtain everything we strive for.<\/p>\n

Of course, everyone should motivate our military as they can, motivate one another, support our defense. Whoever can, with likes\u2014parents, with a warm word, volunteers, with aid to the people and the state, with all the resources and opportunities we have, which exist in Ukraine. Restraint in emotions, readiness for struggle. Until we achieve victory. And proper motivation for our military\u2014these are mandatory elements.<\/p>\n

I am working on this, motivating them. Daily, as each of us does, as always before recording an address, I signed a decree on awarding our heroes, 136 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; I am grateful to each and every one.<\/p>\n

And today another decision was made regarding anti-heroes. Right now, I do not have time to deal with all the traitors. But gradually, all of them are receiving punishment. Therefore, no longer a general is the former head of the main department of internal security of the Security Service of Ukraine Naumov Andriy Olegovych and the former head of the SBU in the Kherson region Kryvoruchka Serhiy Oleksandrovych. Those servicemen of the higher officer corps who were prevented by something from deciding where their homeland is, who violate the military oath given in loyalty to the Ukrainian people regarding the protection of our state, its freedom, independence, will undoubtedly be deprived of their higher military ranks in accordance with Article 48 of the Disciplinary Statute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Accidental generals have no way forward, but to the real heroes from the Security Service\u2014the same absolute gratitude, as to everyone and every one who sincerely defends our state. Among the heroic employees, there are indeed very many; I thank mine.<\/p>\n

The situation in the southern direction and in Donbas remains extremely difficult, extremely. The invaders are directing their sick creativity toward the temporarily occupied areas of the Kherson region, trying to organize some of their incomprehensible structures there, trying to figure out how to consolidate their presence there. Of course, this is hopeless for them. The more they show their activity there, the more serious the losses of Russia itself will be in the end.<\/p>\n

Of the Russians themselves, for who else will pay for the occupation of someone else's land? Also in Donbas, in Mariupol, in the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops are accumulating potential for strikes, powerful strikes. We will defend, we will do everything we can to stop the occupiers and cleanse our land of their evil and senseless chimeras.<\/p>\n

I addressed the parliaments of our partner states today\u2014Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium; I felt full support, I am waiting for concrete steps. I called for further strengthening of sanctions against the RF, the aggressor must be pressed until the aggression is exhausted. I also spoke about this with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.<\/p>\n

We need more support from our partners precisely now, when the Russian military is concentrating additional forces in certain directions. In addition to sanctions, Charles Michel and I substantively discussed economic support for Ukraine, financing of priority projects, and the dynamics of our movement toward full membership in the European Union.<\/p>\n

Sanctions policy was one of the subjects of the conversation between the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, and Jake Sullivan, the US President's National Security Advisor. The US has introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia. We are grateful. It will prevent the bypassing of current sanctions\u2014and we are already recording such attempts\u2014as well as restrict the operation of sensitive sectors of the Russian economy and its defense sector. Let Moscow not forget that the sanctions policy will only continue and intensify.<\/p>\n

As long as there is no peace, sanctions are needed. Until Russia begins to invest as sincerely in the search for peace as it invests in the destruction of our state, sanctions will remain the only alternative.<\/p>\n

I also conducted today<\/p>\n

conversation with the President of Turkey, Erdogan. We spoke very concretely, in particular about the prospects for negotiations in Turkey with the Russian Federation, as well as about the creation of an effective system of guarantees for our state, about the security that we have always needed, and toward the real assurance that we have approached. I am grateful for Turkey's readiness to become a guarantor of security for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

And finally, both I and government officials have already spoken about the fact that the Diia state service has started accepting applications for compensation for the destroyed real estate of our citizens. The state will return to our people everything that the occupiers destroyed \u2013 houses, apartments. And the fact that in a few days 25,491 applications have already been submitted, the number of residents in these houses and these apartments that were destroyed, according to our calculations, is 63,471 people.<\/p>\n

But we know that more and more, significantly more, needs to be restored. So please tell everyone who needs it. About such a state program, an important program; soon the possibility to submit applications will also work offline, in CNAPs, in a mode familiar to many Ukrainians. No matter what, we all must think about the future, about what Ukraine will be like after this war, how we will live with you. Because this is a war for our future, this is a war for our lives, in which we have one path \u2013 to choose peace for Ukraine, to choose security for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
