Ukrainians, Ukrainian women, our esteemed defenders. This day, April 1, the occupiers decided to mark with two equally unwise jokes. One such joke is upon the people in Russia. The spring conscription has started there, which looks traditional, but nonetheless differs from the usual ones. Because conscripts this year may be sent to war against our state, against our people. Therefore, this is guaranteed death for many very young boys. And although they are not our citizens, although they are citizens of a state that is warring with us on our land, it is still our duty as human beings to warn them.<\/p>\n

Warn every such conscript, their parents. We do not need more dead people here. Protect your children so they do not become thieves. Do not give them to the army. Do everything you can, as long as they live at home, in their own homes. All the truths about this conscription and about the fate of the conscripts will not be told to the Russians anyway, but if you can convey this truth to them, do so. And separately, I want to stop at the fact that the RF is trying to take people into the army in Crimea.<\/p>\n

This is a violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime, for which there will be responsibility and which is also an argument for the strengthening of sanctions against Russia. Therefore, I want to say to the residents of Crimea: Sabotage this story. At any stage. And if it does not work, then do not carry out criminal orders and, at the first opportunity, surrender, surrender to the armed forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

We will understand everything. You will live.<\/p>\n

The second very unwise April Fool's joke the occupiers played was with some residents of the southern regions of Ukraine, where Russian troops have temporarily entered. There, some gauleiters are being appointed, some temporary leaders, and they are also threatening employees of enterprises and government bodies who collaborated with these deceived appointees. My message to them is very simple.<\/p>\n

Responsibility for collaboration is inevitable. Tomorrow or the day after, this question is secondary. The main thing is that justice will be restored. Therefore, everyone who became a gauleiter can already arrange their residence registration somewhere in Rostov. And for cooperation with them or with the occupiers directly, there will be big problems. These are the final warnings.<\/p>\n

In the north of our country, the retreat of the occupiers continues. Slow, but noticeable. In some places, they are being driven out with fighting. In some places, they leave positions on their own. After them is a total catastrophe and very many dangers. This is true. First, bombings may continue. Second, they mine this entire territory. They mine houses, they mine equipment, even the bodies of dead people. Very many tripwires, very many other dangers.<\/p>\n

We are moving forward, moving carefully. And everyone who returns to this territory must also be very careful. It is impossible to return to normal life, as it was, even in those territories that we are returning. Returning after battles. One must wait more. Wait until our land is demined. Wait until we can assure you that new shellings are impossible.<\/p>\n

In the east of our country, the situation remains extremely difficult. Russian military are being massed in Donbas, and also in the Kharkiv direction. They are preparing for new powerful strikes. We are preparing for an even more active defense. We are using all opportunities. Both internal and external. Definitely. I emphasize once again, difficult battles lie ahead. Now it is still not possible to think as if we have already passed all trials.<\/p>\n

We all want victory. Everyone. But when it comes, everyone will see it. Everyone will feel that peace is arriving.<\/p>\n

Today I spoke with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, about the humanitarian situation in Ukrainian cities that are under shelling by the occupiers. Separately, we spoke about the situation in Mariupol, for which, I hope, solutions can still be found. Europe has no right to react with silence to what is happening to our Mariupol. The whole world must react to this humanitarian catastrophe.<\/p>\n

Today, humanitarian corridors operated in three regions: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia. It was possible to save 6,266 people, including 3,071 people from Mariupol. Separately, we are negotiating the evacuation of wounded and deceased soldiers, our civilians, all citizens, from the city. We are discussing this with the Turks as a mediator.<\/p>\n

I hope that in the near future I will be able to report on the details.<\/p>\n

Closer to the evening, I met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola; I met her in Kyiv. I am grateful to her for this visit, an important visit that demonstrates to some other politicians that courage at a time like now is one of the most important traits for a politician. We spoke about how to accelerate Ukraine's entry into the European Union. There are specifics. We also spoke about the supply of weapons and the support of this by European parliamentarians. And also about sanctions policy, about a deeper sanctions policy against Russia.<\/p>\n

Because if there is an embargo, then an embargo. If SWIFT, then for all banks. And if it is about the business of Russia, then not just a suspension of activities, but a complete exit of European companies from the Russian market.<\/p>\n

Traditionally, I signed a decree on awarding our defenders, seven servicemen of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection. Two of them posthumously. Eternal memory to all who died for Ukraine. Eternal gratitude to our defenders, our female defenders, and our spirit.<\/p>\n

Already tomorrow, April 2, Ukrainian Muslims together with all Muslims of the world will welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Sincere prayers, mutual forgiveness, and good deeds characterize this month. But in Ukraine, another virtue is added\u2014loyalty to comrades and to one's people in the battles for the freedom of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

In our war for independence, in which we will certainly win. We will certainly achieve peace for all our land. I sincerely wish peace to all, to all of Ukraine, to all people of the world.
