My day started with me taking my son to preschool and I was really happy that it was windy and raining\/cloudy because then it was a bit warmer outside, 13 degrees is a good temperature \u2013 so these days you actually like bad weather.<\/p>\n

Then I tried to log in to my electricity company’s website to check the bill as early as possible so I know the hit I\u2019m taking this month and can adjust the big grocery shopping at City Gross this weekend, but the login function had crashed. However, there was a big banner about electricity subsidies from the government and a link to their website.<\/p>\n

It has gone a bit quiet about it now that the election is over, I feel. Then I understand that it drives inflation but are we supposed to become like the UK where pensioners froze to death in minus three degrees in the 90s?<\/p>\n

Right now I\u2019m sitting at almost exactly 20 degrees and getting a stomach ache from the hissing in the radiators. I don\u2019t hear heat, I hear the rattling of overdraft on the account.<\/p>\n

Everything that was good is now bad and everything that was bad is welcomed \u2013 more rain, more wind, less showering, colder indoors. If it snows this winter you almost have to admit yourself \u2013 sledding or ski week is now Lucifer\u2019s punishment, a gray and rainy Sk\u00e5ne winter is the new black.<\/p>\n

More than 2 years ago it was 23 degrees indoors and you took slightly bigger December \u2013 February bills because you could afford it and the teenage daughter got to smell freshly showered Monday to Sunday, now you can hardly sit in the same room as her the day before the two-minute weekly shower and you\u2019ve bought a dozen fleece sweaters and sweatpants for the family.<\/p>\n

You know that pajama tracksuit that was popular a few years ago, my wife has dusted it off and runs around in it. It was a very odd garment but insanely good when the cold wind blows in the living room and ice starts to form over the TV.<\/p>\n

All because six nuclear reactors were shut down, why is responsibility never demanded in this country?
\nI was against it and yet here I am banging on the door when my daughter tries to wash herself properly and yells that showering after gym class worked perfectly fine when I was young and that she had been swimming on Monday and isn\u2019t that enough for the week, there is damn well 24-hour deodorant.<\/p>\n

Then I have a question I can\u2019t understand logically \u2013 we have to export X% every month according to the EU and we do so loyally.
\nOur representatives often say that we have slightly lower electricity prices than other EU countries so we are still the best (and warmest).<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t they completely miss that a Portuguese person uses 5000 kWh\/year and Johan No.1 25,000 \u2013 30,000 kWh\/year?
\nOur apartment in Portugal has an electricity bill of 100 EUR\/month in Dec-Feb and then 30 EUR\/month the rest of the year when it is used. If you\u2019re not there you just turn off the electricity and the grid fee is almost exactly 12 EUR\/month (that\u2019s for you Ellevio\u2026)<\/p>\n

Shouldn\u2019t we be compared based on the same annual cost, not the same electricity price?
\nThat\u2019s what I think and I think our representatives have negotiated terribly here.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The next profession at risk of burnout is probably customer service at electricity companies. The wait times are hours long and I\u2019m sure they\u2019re not getting any fun calls now, people venting or unloading their personal tragedies on them.<\/p>\n
