What can be done is to reduce taxes to zero on fuel and energy, including VAT, that feels quite Moderate and would probably lower the price level on everything else that is increasing in price as well?<\/p>\n<p>Hydropower is under investigation and some smaller hydropower plants feel that they cannot meet the new requirements, it would cost too much so it is easier to shut down.<br \/>\nIt was the same for the (power) heating plants in southern Sweden, I don\u2019t remember how many, but they got tax increases and closed. One such plant was probably shipped to Vietnam? It\u2019s not clear to me exactly how it happened other than that they got a tax that made them unprofitable.<br \/>\nSo it\u2019s not only nuclear power that is\/has been under pressure here, they are hitting all power generation except wind power and solar power it seems.<\/p>\n<p>Our new government could, for example, start by repealing all these insane decisions and then investigate what can possibly be restarted of hydropower, power heating plants, and nuclear power \u2013 save what can be saved after the energy mismanagement.<br \/>\nThen it\u2019s probably not a bad idea to have national energy efficiency campaigns but the question is whether it is with us residents that the most savings can be made. The example of the ICA store that halved the refrigerators and reduced the lighting was interesting \u2013 we can probably go to ICA in winter jackets and hats during the cold season and then they warm the fruit and bread?<\/p>\n<p>But as long as demand on the continent is endless, this probably matters little, one might need to understand that we use 5 times more electricity than a Portuguese or Spaniard and that one should not look at the price but the total cost\/month for a household. Our price perhaps should be half the EU average due to our cold climate and we get the right to regulate exports to keep that price?<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere around here maybe the electricity price will come down so it does not burden the household budget unreasonably much?<\/p>\n<p>Then I understand that we have a free market and that this price level is quite attractive for electricity producers but the question is whether one wants such a system for critical societal infrastructure. You could introduce cost price for healthcare too \u2013 cash for surgery, or tolls on pedestrian and cycle paths, why should it be free to
