The first thing I thought would happen was that they would remove VAT, it hits pretty hard when prices are this expensive. It\u2019s not a subsidy but we get to keep our money. Has been done in many countries.
\nThe tax is almost irrelevant at prices like these so if you have to choose one, it should probably stay?
\n50 \u00f6re\/kWh in electricity support can also be ignored, almost an insult, it wasn\u2019t me who shut down 6 fully functioning reactors and it\u2019s not me who exports but I pay.<\/p>\n

Then it is probably urgent to start thinking about shutting off the export tap but what worries me is that in Jan-Feb we apparently have import needs in previous years and if we shut off the tap we probably get no imports?<\/p>\n

But\u2026 maybe 25% reduced electricity consumption and closed industries means we manage on our domestic production?<\/p>\n

Very clever \u2013 tough lobbying so the state shuts down its regulating power so the market collapses and electricity companies can make 10 times the profit without any investments. Hats off to those lobbyists because they have achieved the impossible.<\/p>\n

A sluggishness one could introduce would be to leave decisions to those who know?
\nWe don\u2019t have political rule in Sweden but the shutdown of nuclear power was political rule to get to the point where they could vote on it, the reports, firing Vattenfall\u2019s CEO, bringing in new board members etc.
\nThis electricity crisis is entirely created by politics and moreover against most experts\u2019 and knowledgeable people\u2019s advice, and now we are left with the bill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, I think you already have this with most \u2013 schoolchildren eat more school meals, electricity consumption has decreased 25% in households in SE4 (worst affected) and restaurants and entertainment have crashed and the construction sector is heading straight into the wall + Willys and Lidl are doing very well \u2013 people are saving it certainly sounds like \ud83d\ude03<\/p>\n

During COVID most probably gave up foreign travel and bought holiday homes instead but today it\u2019s almost impossible to own a villa if you have a mortgage.<\/p>\n

Your last point is probably the most important, forget 21 degrees. We are down to 18 degrees now and it works. Half the house has 15 degrees.
\nMy last measure will be to divide the remaining half into two \u2013 75m2 with 18 degrees and the seldom-used rooms like kitchen, toilet etc. will also go down to 15. We can separate the living room and two bedrooms.
\nThat will probably be the last thing I do in Sweden because if we get there it will probably be moving to Portugal permanently, it will be mutiny.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If you have no redundancy or regulating power, you simply don\u2019t have it.<\/p>\n

Every little glitch in the curve results in unaffordable electricity prices.<\/p>\n

I understand that many think you have to manage on your own and it\u2019s a bit funny that everyone who hasn\u2019t installed solar power is now freezing but you probably have to think about those up north with -30 degrees and no daylight for months, there you either have to pay up or freeze to death and the solar panels on the roof don\u2019t really help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There are quite a few taking positions for \u201ctheir party\u201d in this discussion.
\nI see no point in that, the previous government failed miserably and the current one is starting weak.
