The US has clearly taken a back seat and I got the impression that SE, the Dutch, and Denmark have driven this hard themselves \u2013 all credit to all three.<\/p>\n

Norway, which has earned enormously from oil during this war, chooses to sell their F16s instead of sending them to Ukraine \u2013 they are starting to emerge as a focus candidate here but I may not have the full picture.<\/p>\n

The US could send thousands of Bradleys and Abrams and swarms of Tomahawks and F-16s but does not. They probably have their reasons and the EU has to step up instead.<\/p>\n

Also hysterically funny where he offered to give Belgorod back to the Russians for NATO membership.<\/p>\n

Everything is signal politics to Putin, so far he has even dared to board international sea transports in the Black Sea so the West has clearly not shown its claws enough.<\/p>\n

Instead, come up with a new list of Russians who should go to The Hague, find a few hundred billion more of oligarch money (which Switzerland seems to have done\u2026) and announce the war-winning weapons package that will never need to be delivered.
\nIt is in that black, dark hopelessness that palace coups are born and if they don’t happen maybe half a million newly mobilized choose life and march towards Moscow instead.<\/p>\n

All this is good.<\/p>\n

The bad thing is that Western media now seems to have completely capsized and reproduces the Russian narrative that is pumped out not only in its entirety but also writes their own versions of it.<\/p>\n

That gives Putin legitimacy at home because Russian media can only reproduce WAPO, CNN, NYT and so on and write that “the US intelligence service writes that”.<\/p>\n

How the US could now know UA losses when UA is the only one on site and says they are top secret \u2013 they should really explain that, I think.

Have now been involved in that R\u00f6pcke discussion for a while which has spread to others and they keep bringing up “read what independent WAPO writes, they are on site and not biased like Ukraine”, “read what NYT writes, high credibility”.
\nIt is a huge PR win for Russia all these articles. You can attribute quite a lot to these publications right now, they are doing Russia’s bidding whether they intended it or not.<\/p>\n

The same as that NATO spokesperson who thought Ukraine should give up land and felt misunderstood.<\/p>\n

Have none of these people had a real job where they learned that what you say has consequences?<\/p>\n

It came up a bit how fun it is to read the blog, we have all probably become more bitter the longer the war goes on. Not because the offensive is not going as it should but because the war as such continues in all its horror.<\/p>\n

My thought is that to maintain a high interest in the Ukraine war it must feel meaningful and a good debate climate probably contributes quite a bit to that.<\/p>\n

I have many times felt that it is not appropriate to joke and make fun in this absolutely dreadful war and Dengamle withdrew to his den for a while because he felt that too but fortunately came back. There have been others who have dropped out at times but appeared again, and there are a couple who are getting more and more bitter.<\/p>\n

But then I think that if the alternative is death and tears instead which the pro-Russians can immediately turn to drive their narrative and many get tired of it, it is better that the thread lives and spreads information about what is really happening on the ground in Ukraine in the way the thread works best.<\/p>\n

The Russian narrative seems to have the upper hand all the time, right now it is paraded in all Western media and Ukraine does what they can but how loud do their daily reports sound against CNN, BBC, WAPO, NYT and GP?
\nThis platform is quite unique in that pro-Russians do not manage to manipulate it and you don’t have to have left your parents’ basement and stopped playing Rise and Nations to understand that it is moderation in the early morning hours by LW that ensures this.<\/p>\n

In all other forums there are five shades of pro-Russians drowning all sensible communication in the higher school of manipulation that ordinary engaged UA supporters cannot handle.<\/p>\n

Have you noticed that UA is now pushing north of Horlivka?
\nThat means they are projecting a threat against Horlivka that RU must counter by sending defense there. With a bit of luck it swallows up a lot of available reserves.<\/p>\n

You should be very clear that Ukraine is doing what they can right now.
\nThey have gone all in and their most protected resources are clearing out defense systems right now and taking losses.<\/p>\n

The West is playing a high-stakes game because nothing is forever in Ukraine and Russian influence is simmering beneath the surface.<\/p>\n

I would never have relied this much on Ukraine being able to do the impossible if I were any Western country. I would have taken big safety margins and above all I would have sent a hell of a lot of missiles.<\/p>\n

Then we of course have the under-the-bus-China where under the bus means that they do not actively support territorial concessions or Russian victory, they dare not.<\/p>\n

But of course they supply Russia with as many weapons as they dare, we wrote a lot about this in 2022.
\nThat is another weakness from the West that they completely turn away from China’s active participation.
\nI think I understand enough to know that it is clear that Russia and China will keep going until it stops.
