I think this is a good forum because it’s a black belt in everything, but sorry if this is OT and the blogger can remove it if so

,

The district heating company came back, the county administrative board can only give a decision this fall about the excavation (2 years since the application was submitted!) and they now have an investment stop in 2024 and don’t know if they can start connecting new customers in 2025, so we are looking at alternatives in a preparatory capacity. The county administrative board can also say no to laying the pipes due to historical land.

Geothermal heating was installed in 2007, Nibe Fighter 1112 which should be sufficient and two holes are drilled.

House 300m2

During winter, downstairs is 14 degrees due to reduced radiators.

When it goes below freezing, we get about 19 degrees upstairs.

Met a previous owner of the house who sold in 2017 and he said that downstairs was too cold so it’s not an old pump issue but also when it was newly installed.

When it reached -20 degrees, the heat in the tank started to drop significantly and the radiators became lukewarm and then after a few days when the outdoor temperature rose, the heat increased.

My interpretation is that it doesn’t heat up fast enough when it’s too cold outside?

Questions –

-What is the problem with it not being enough, the Nibe boiler is supposed to be replaced but are more holes needed?

-Can the system be topped up with a LVVP instead of drilling another hole?

There will be a wood-burning stove now before the cold season and if we can install solar panels we will do that but the house is Q-classified so I don’t know, but I want to try to figure out the geothermal heating first.

14:43

Upstairs we have it pretty perfect in the sense that there is never condensation on the inside of the windows or “damp” indoors and there are two small natural ventilation vents indoors so we haven’t thought about adding much insulation upstairs.

Then we have a convector fan running in the hall and have considered installing two more in the living room and one bedroom because it makes a huge difference.

Downstairs there are 12 double windows over two meters high and we have considered energy glass there but then we would have to have mechanical ventilation downstairs which we don’t have right now but I think it’s wired in so it could be built. I’m quite nervous about insulating too much and getting mold and moisture but yes, we need to do something.

Thanks for that 😀
