If we are to start with something positive, UA has fought a refinery again now in Ryazan.

The fronts
\nRumored that UA has left the area behind the Sejm watercourse in Kursk or holds some dominant height right at the border \u2013 nothing reflected on the maps yet. FAB bombs are used extensively up in Kursk.<\/p>\n

In Northern Luhansk near Kupiansk it is the 1st GTA attacking but apparently only with infantry, which is interesting considering the unit type.<\/p>\n

At the Southern front we have discussed that RU is conducting reconnaissance and positional battles and preparing for an offensive, is 200,000 strong and has a number of VDV, Spetsnaz, reconnaissance, and marine infantry regiments. The units in this area have also not been fully depleted since 2023 and have had plenty of time to reform.

Now their offensive seems to have started and they have advanced significantly 8km deep west of Vuhledar. This can definitely be called a breakthrough and is at a front line that has been static since 2023.

Shaktarske and Novoukrainka are completely overrun, over a couple of weeks they have lost positions at the watercourse and then the communities that were the next line 8km deep.<\/p>\n

As the situation develops, my suggestion is to read Deepstate and the other maps as contested terrain is how far RU has come and when the map is updated, the area is lost. Sometimes there are counterattacks but right now these are fewer than what UA loses.<\/p>\n

In the past week there have been several small movements at the southern front but it is in the area of Vuhledar and west of it where the breakthrough has occurred.<\/p>\n

To put it in perspective, UA now holds terrain 15km deep in Kursk.<\/p>\n

What we see is that UA units simply cannot hold back \u2013 this is not visible on the unit maps but they are obviously low in numbers, poor in armored vehicles, there are rumors of ammunition shortages over at Selydove and they lack the artillery and CAS they had in 2023. The 72nd Mech had a long interview and it was not pleasant reading.<\/p>\n

All this is artificially created, the West has taken the position that we send what we can when it should have been that they must send what is needed. Everything exists in reserve stocks and unit sets but the West wants to manufacture new, get paid, and then send when it is manufactured. And they want to expand the arms industry at a leisurely pace instead of pouring in money.
\nYes, it’s great with 30 billion USD for the arms industry and 2-3 new weapons packages from the USA but it counts when the materiel is out with the units.<\/p>\n

Then there is a drone shortage and I don’t understand why if UA manufactures 4 million per year \u2013 why?<\/p>\n

The link below describes the situation well but it also describes RU warfare and how it relies on FAB bombs. The same FAB bombs that the USA with great effort has managed to maintain for Russia by stopping, for example, Gripen and F-16, or holding back LV.

And then some politician will not be able to hold back and exclaim “but Putin promised peace as long as we got Ukraine to the negotiating table but when we wore them down enough Putin blew us off”.<\/p>\n

Scholz is now also doing his very best to sabotage and I consider him either compromised or a prisoner in his party. And unfortunately it is him the USA has allied with.

My thought regarding the negotiations was that Ukraine would give up NATO membership and get something sensible in return from RU.

Sure, there were mines but never in the way we see in Ukraine and some mining here and there that was avoided.
\nI also believe that the mine warfare strongly affects how mechanized combat can practically be conducted and that it is something that will lead to changes in the handbook for killing Russians.<\/p>\n

Mine clearing should also get a renaissance going forward and identification of mines. I have thought about whether it is possible to map the mines with GPS coordinates with drones, like warm in the evening and visible on IR as we have learned.
\nThen release a mothership drone with hundreds of small drones that dive bomb all the coordinates and explode within a zone.<\/p>\n

Mine laying should also become a prioritized part of all defense \u2013 yes, the peace movements and environmental movements have made us use fewer mines just like with cluster munitions and somewhat surprisingly both have proven to work excellently in this war.
\nThermobaric weapons one hardly dares to even say the word for fear of being completely cancelled in the discussion but they are also good weapons if you can get drones to drop them.<\/p>\n

Somewhat simplified, the West, after various pressures from peace movements, human rights organizations, environmental organizations, and political parties that prioritize peace, has scrapped all these weapons.
\nRussia apparently has not listened to all these movements and thus still retains all these capabilities to unleash over Ukraine.<\/p>\n
