Ukraine and the World Daily Update May 9, 2025

Someone who opened a subscription on Substack wrote that “freedom of speech should be preserved,” which I thought was very kindly written and thought-provoking.

We are currently experimenting with johanno1.se and Substack as you can see, and also sitting essentially voluntarily and writing daily – something we want to continue because we believe we have something to convey now as we are moving rapidly towards a global conflict.

MXT has reached a milestone as he can now purchase a translation program funded by donations to the site, which he is very happy about – all his posts will now be posted in Serbian-Croatian.

As we follow statistics, we see that fewer people are reading English posts, and as mentioned, we have now taken action with a serious translation program and will see if we can bridge with it. When I post heavy Swedish problem areas, there are always some on Substack who leave in a fit of howling and arm-waving – and many choose not to engage in the discussion at all on johanno1.se – because there are victims in all of this, should one then avoid the subject so they can continue to suffer in silence?

Municipalities and Englishmen obviously think so, but I think one should address it – so they come on weekends and you can blame it on having been at Gröna Lund if you want to use that excuse. The media just highlighted organized crime and the clans, so then I got confirmation that we are not completely off track. Or it’s starting to become a discussion that is hard to avoid now, I guess, before they manage to infiltrate even the media and silence them.

A mix of posts is coming, so please stay tuned and don’t be too light on your feet (I initially wrote “lättfotade” before realizing it has another meaning as well 😶) because then you’ll miss out on things that will be talked about in the break room. If you read the posts and find them valuable, a free or paid subscription on Substack is valuable to me as it becomes a distribution list in a very changing world where one jumps between platforms every few years apparently – continuity. I’m now fiddling with Ghost just three months after I opened Substack…

On johanno1.se, the comment section is the great reward (just as intended) and those of you who have found your way there can see that MXT is pulling a heavy load, also voluntarily, but he seems to be having fun with a couple of real enthusiasts no one has forgotten 😀

A forum is always a group effort, and if you want to have a discussion, johanno1.se is the place for it if, like me, you are about to burst from everything that is happening and need to vent – and the level of comments is also very high every day. Yesterday, for example, you learned about India and Pakistan – who would have thought that when you woke up around 10, had a pick-me-up, and shuffled over to the computer?

We immediately decided that there MUST be a high ceiling on johanno1.se, and to date, we have not banned anyone, and we have not had any quarrels – even though some have made it their life’s mission to criticize Trump apparently. I think that stands out compared to other platforms where one can hardly speak up before being kicked out, no names mentioned no one forgotten 🧐

Today is Friday fun on johanno1.se, by the way, at 18:00:00:01 – I just say don’t miss out at your own risk because Bruce Willis’ grandchild will read a fantasy tale, and Wesley Snipes will try loose snus on a livestream.

What is happening in the world now is that we are on our way to a full global conflict, so what started as support for Ukraine is now turning into gathering information, analyzing, and trying to describe the world’s developments interestingly so that it reaches where we are heading at rocket speed.

I started in 2022 to analyze raw information about the UA war that I received from sources that began posting on Twitter. Step one was to calibrate correctly with the sources, and then we got started.

If one refuses to read finished analyses and relies entirely on available information that one analyzes oneself, I discovered that one is more accurate than the well-paid experts who are stuck in explanatory models and tied to the mast of their previous (incorrect) analyses. Those of you who have followed for a few years know this very well – I think the first major scoop was Lysychansk, but already in the first week of the war, I condemned Russia and then a united media still shouted about “three days.” You can look at those posts on “the other blog,” by the way, before you get kicked out.

Since 2024, I was probably one of the few who believed in the UA offensive, and in the fall of 2024, I shouted that Ukraine could retake the country – which they also planned to do, but the USA started throwing sand in the engine right away.

So you can be absolutely sure that Ukraine has offensive plans here in 2025, but Trump has managed to ruin surprisingly much in a short time, even for him…

What I underestimated for far too long was the absolute foul play of the USA, although we guessed quite right there too, it has been shown in hindsight. And then the sluggishness in Russia – that has surprised me immensely, Putin has clearly gained total control over the country, and you have to give him credit for being a great statesman even if he ends up on the wrong side of history and will not be remembered in the history books the way he intended.

When new focus areas arise, I must first find the sources and not jump on the psyops…

Therefore, today there will be another in-depth analysis in Swedish so that everyone reads it and no one has to walk around with their head hanging because they cheated their way through the English B-course – it will be about China, Trump, and the whole 360-degree turnaround which is almost dizzying for me – I had given up hope.

Just like with Ukraine, the media is completely wrong about the USA and Trump as usual, but one can’t really blame them (yet) because I had also delivered my final analysis about Trump’s Ukraine war fiasco, and some thoughts on how he intended to conduct his domestic policy going forward.

The analysis about Ukraine came first, after direct attacks on Ukraine, and then after 2.5 months, I felt we had a solid foundation to also dare to discuss his domestic policy, which is a slight deviation from what I think I really want to cover.

But things move fast in hockey, very fast – and one must be pragmatic 😀

And… domestically in the USA, the psyops are at 110 degrees, so there is a risk of going wrong if one is not careful. I’m still pondering whether this thing about DOGE leaking to the GRU actually holds true because it was part of the analysis.

Everyone should be judged for their actions, and we did that correctly until a few weeks ago because then Trump had absolutely humiliated Ukraine and double-dealt with Putin so that the whole peace negotiation was rigged – it was painful to see. Especially for those of us who had hoped that he would reconcile with the Bidens and the USA’s damned “de-escalation strategy” and stop hindering Ukraine from winning the war.

“It can’t get any worse” was immediately proven wrong.

But the first thing Trump did when he took office was to confront China – if you read that post, the whole timeline was there, and it was ten times more than we had discussed before, I discovered to my great surprise – he had really been active, and the media apparently had been sleeping on the job. China responded immediately by stating that they would be present on May 9th, and now today Xi Jinping arrived for the first time since 2015 and stabbed the very small Putin in his oversized platform shoes, forcing him to stand on his toes to reach up.

China is also participating in the parade with troops, and the message is VERY clear – “we have chosen Russia’s side 100% in the upcoming global conflict” – this CANNOT BE MISUNDERSTOOD.

We know today that the USA has tried to curry favor with Russia so that they would join forces against China – that was Biden’s whole game plan, even though he laid down a lot of smoke to try to hide it. We must conclude that years of betrayal towards Ukraine were worth nothing, which was not exactly unexpected…

In addition to this, Trump tried, what he thought, was a violent blow against China in the form of a trade war for big men, which turned into a monumental fiasco because he swung at everyone at once – and it was the USA that almost went down on its knees when the bond market really shook.

What Trump did was to continue driving the USA’s formal line of trying to confront China, and in Panama, he would forcibly move China, and also in Greenland – and isolate them economically.

The plan was ambitious, but it backfired when he was loading the dueling pistol.

Because China has advanced its positions – in Panama and Greenland, among other places.

But since Trump has a knack for irritating absolutely everyone, there was an international outcry, and the USA’s bond market almost collapsed due to his actions.

Something has happened in recent weeks because the USA has made a complete 360-degree turn on the Ukraine issue, and early signs indicate that they fully support Ukraine.

The Kerch Bridge is a big deal – Biden absolutely banned it, but Ukraine has now fought against it, and that can only mean that Trump has given the green light for Ukraine to receive deliveries and make weapon purchases during this period.

The White House blames everything on Hegseth, unexpected 🤣🤣

JD Vance, whom I have a very low opinion of as a person, is also trying to backtrack as best he can.

The USA has also done something that Biden never did – given Ukraine permission to buy important equipment on contract from manufacturers in the USA. Biden just said a flat no to that.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/01/trump-administration-readies-first-sale-of-military-equipment-to-ukraine

So why, and most importantly – isn’t Trump still in Putin’s pocket or being controlled with an embarrassing hotel film according to a unanimous media?

An event that is a likely puzzle piece was when Trump in the Vatican asked the arm-waving garlic-scented Frenchman to calm down and then sat down with Zelensky himself – this was likely the first time Zelensky reached Trump as a person, and he probably took advantage of the opportunity as only a cunning Ukrainian can 😀

My respect for Zelensky is starting to become embarrassingly great now, a bit like when you had rock posters on the wall as a teenager (you couldn’t put up Samantha Fox posters in Okej magazine…), for this giant is single-handedly changing the world every day, and no other leader has managed to reach Trump (yet). Now, like all great leaders, he will lose the election as soon as the war is over and be rejected by his own, but no one can take this away from him. He could have retired rich in Italy and written his book already, but he’s accelerating at 110 km/h and starting to look more than a bit worn out.

Back to the subject after a bit of idol worship –

One group we must not forget is also the MIC who want to sell weapons, but they have been screaming for months now.

Trump was probably more easily wounded by the bond market shaking and his long personal meeting with Zelensky, but that’s probably not all…

You all know how China exploited Trump’s “tariff war,” and it’s hard to blame them for scoring an open goal – they totally torpedoed the fashion houses, stopped exporting to the USA, didn’t take US phone calls, cut off many strategic products to the USA, and probably more that we don’t know about yet.

Everyone dismisses that China has stopped exporting critical minerals and metals to the ENTIRE WEST, but they have – and it’s a strategic move also aimed at us in Europe.

China was and is ready to fight, not just with the USA but with the entire West.

If we rewind the tape, everyone should be judged for their actions – including China. But now China has shown its fangs, so there is no longer any discussion about what they plan to do.

But it didn’t stop there – China recently conducted a massive exercise against Taiwan and invaded and occupied an island in the South China Sea that belongs to Vietnam.

We also know that they have allowed Chinese volunteers to fight in Ukraine and now they are also providing light weapons to Russia – Ukraine has reported this.

And China has approved the whole North Korea situation, recently declaring themselves strategic partners with Russia in the Ukraine war (11th AC is probably on the way unfortunately…) and China had a Special Operations Forces company on exercise in Belarus in the summer of 2024.

The world’s media has declared JD Vance as el diablo after first the Pope died and then there was war between India – Pakistan a week after he visited India – everything was JD Vance’s fault.

The media damn well better start sharpening up because now it’s serious, and they should at least try to deliver sensible analyses if they’re paid to do so 😡

(even if Ron isn’t media).

The USA likely has zero interest in the interstate war between Pakistan and India that is currently ongoing.

Pakistan is friendly to the USA, and the USA visited India instead and tried to sell them the crown jewel of their equipment – the F35, but India chose Rafale instead. You can surely read a lot into that, but one interpretation could be to try to get India to reconsider?

India attacked Pakistan with a poor excuse, and there is now full-scale interstate war escalating where Pakistan is still responding.

My guess is that China is behind this with Russia – but that China is the driving force because they have an interest in destabilizing India.

China does not want manufacturing to move to India, and after India clearly chose the side of the USA in the upcoming conflict when they saw their chance to become the new production hub like China, war broke out immediately.

This is a bit like Russia’s conflicts in Africa – the most fragile state formations that only need a little push to be overthrown into ethnic cleansing and severed hands.

We don’t know exactly how things unfolded, but I’m putting my money on China.

I also believe that this has made Trump realize that China is now ready to start its journey towards global conflict – it’s serious, and the playtime must end.

China has prepared well – a manufacturing industry that is HUGE and can easily shift to the arms industry. They apparently build a royal navy every other year – a significant naval buildup is underway.

They have a monopoly on critical raw materials for the arms industry where Europe imports 100%. A product that is 99.9% complete is not finished, and China controls far too many of those different 0.1% for Europe.

The USA is slightly better off than us as they never believed in “eternal peace.”

So what will happen in the future?

First, Europe needs to decide what WE should do, whose side do we want to be on, AND how should we handle the Ukraine war. So far, we have done far too little too late.

Regardless, I believe there will be war, everyone except the media is starting to understand this now, so Europe MUST CHOOSE A SIDE, and then we must understand that we need to send our daughters and sons to war.

China is the enemy, and the USA is our ally, even if Trump is difficult to like as a person.

If we miss the opportunity to support Ukraine and secure our eastern border by the fall of Belarus, we have only ourselves to blame – then we have a new Cold War. Russia and China are planning to pacify Europe with Russia’s subversive activities and the invasion of the Baltics.

The invasion of the Baltics is guaranteed unless Ukraine delivers some deadly blows before that, rip off the band-aid.

Iran must be dealt with, or else Israel will likely fall in the upcoming war, the West will have to choose between Iran and Israel.

Europe should promptly establish ties with suitable countries in Africa and offer them fair trade contracts.

Defend Svalbard.

This world war will primarily be fought in Asia if Europe does everything right in the coming years or so – I believe we can demand that of our elected officials because we pay them very well.

China is probably only months away from starting to send heavy weapons to the Russian side in Ukraine – we are right on the brink of it now.

China wants a Europe preoccupied with the Ukraine war and invaded by Russia in a corner so WE ARE PACIFIED.

Then China wanted a prolonged war for the West so that our weapons stockpiles decreased, and China has only sent North Korean materials so far.

Because China now intends to begin its global escalation with the hope of defeating the USA – that’s their endgame.

What will happen, which is obvious, is that the USA and China will pound on each other in Asia, which will be devastated, where China cannot reach the USA and the USA cannot reach China. And then they will get tired, and if we look at previous conflicts, this will take about five years.

But we will get here – we will have our time’s global conflict, and it is quite close now.

Europe and the USA made a mistake by not allowing Ukraine to win the war earlier because it would have stamped out our time’s global conflict. Those who have read the posts know this from before.

On several occasions, it was very close, but Europe and the USA had consensus for far too long on not provoking Russia.

The idiots thought they had time – which we have said they do not, the longer the time, the higher the risk has been our mantra.

If Europe manages to solve the Ukraine issue reasonably well, we will not have a war on our doorstep per se and can instead focus on the arms industry and assisting the USA in the upcoming war, as well as protecting Africa.

But we must ensure to resolve the Ukraine war fairly soon.

Biden did everything wrong, and Trump also started completely wrong, but if he changes his mind now at the last minute, it might be enough.

Do you know what Trump just did – a trade deal with the UK 😶

For the UK, it has been a disaster to never get this, they have lived a dwindling existence under Biden and Trump 1.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/uk-us-trade-deal-trump-starmer-timeline-how-b2747117.html

Do you remember an attempt I made to describe how Trump/USA took an initial hit to get the shakes going but then moved the risk abroad so others took the hit – preferably China?

When Trump was at his worst, I also dusted off the old truth that the USA does not want a too strong Europe – the Cold War was an excellent control for the USA over Europe, and Biden has treated us in this way, so the red thread in the strategy has been there.

It seems that the EU also decided to be the adults in the room and offer Trump 50 billion USD with counterpurchases to make the trade deficit disappear, and then everything was fine for Trump, it seems like everything will be a win, even pesetas 🤣🤣

https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/eu-sets-out-95-bln-euro-countermeasures-us-tariffs-2025-05-08

Now with the war in India – Pakistan, the upcoming war with Iran, and oil stoppages in MENA for Iran (or someone else…) sinking a large tanker in the Strait of Hormuz – do you think the USD will become a safe-haven currency again for the world?

When Russia attacks into the EU – do you think the USD will become a safe-haven currency again in the world?

As you know, I believe that and that there are a few steps that have not played out yet, even though all the comments were unanimous in saying that I was completely wrong 😀

Regardless of all this – Trump has now stretched out a slightly wilted, unpleasant-smelling leaf on an otherwise burnt olive branch and with a broad Trump grin, says that we should take it, and at the same time give him a site for the next Trump Tower.

And we absolutely should do that because China and Russia are OUR ENEMIES, and the USA is our ally in the global war that is now inevitable.

With the sharp teeth that China has just shown, Europe must immediately back away from China and start putting political pressure on them fully aware that it will end in interstate war.

So today we will get our first sharp calibration regarding Trump – is he out there saying that ceasefires must be respected and no one should drone the parade, or does Ukraine have a party trick that will enhance the experience for the participants 🧐

Putin has threatened with Oreshnik against Kiev, and if I know Ukraine correctly, they are well prepared for it. They might bomb silos with drones perhaps.

Ukraine has been ravaged, and its population desecrated – they have nothing to lose.

Over the years, we have described the atrocities in detail, and one almost winner was the journalist whose body was returned tortured and without a brain, eyes, and throat or something similar…

Ukraine intends to bring down the country of Russia – they have increased the pace of liberated (executed) war criminals, they drone Moscow daily, they drone all targets they can reach, and if they can, they will drone the parade.

They will try to execute Putin if they can because Putin has tried to kill Zelensky 10 times already, and poisoned Budanov.

All that has slowed down Ukraine is primarily the USA but also Europe – Scholz was a brake for a long time and Macron before he changed course in January 2024.

If Trump has lifted Biden’s ban list and Europe is serious, THEY SHOULD let Ukraine fight in the way they see fit.

And a bonus could be that if Russia collapses, China will retract its claws even though I think it’s too late now – the ball is already in motion.

The irony of “I will disarm and give you peace in our time, I am Gandhi,” to Trump becoming one of the major war presidents is not lost on anyone, I hope – Trump will go down in history as the US president when the third world war started – for better or for worse, so far mostly for the worse.

I also believe that China is making a big mistake but we are not there yet.

Now you finally have the chance to show appreciation to MXT and his work on the website and then the daily (well…) yellow posts – IT has installed a donation button on johanno1.se, if you look around a bit you will see a QR code and a paypal.

There is also a donation page for Ukraine on johanno1.se with links to Swedish Rescuers, drones 2 ukraine and other organizations we have learned over time are legitimate and dare to donate to.

On Substack – there is still a chance to follow and become subscribers if it feels more right to go that route which some have done.

China’s exports increased by 8.1 percent in April, despite Donald Trump imposing trade tariffs of up to 145 percent last month. According to Bloomberg, an increase of 2 percent was expected. The exports generated a surplus of $96.18 billion, a slight decrease from March but far above the $89 billion expected according to Trading Economics. However, trade to the US decreased significantly, by 21 percent year-on-year in April. But exports to the EU increased by 10 percent and those to ASEAN countries surged by 21 percent. On the other hand, imports decreased by 0.2 percent, marking the third consecutive month of decline.

    https://omni.se/a/wgGkxG

This concerns China’s exports; US imports normally have a lag of a couple of weeks due to logistics and placed orders. In the short term, it seems that China has not been harmed by the trade war.

    1. China is preparing itself. They manage without the USA. Their toys and leisure items, among other things, are sold in many markets in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. But also in Sweden. Pay a visit to Biltema or Rusta.
Take a company like Xiaomi that not only sells mobile phones but also electric sports cars and electric scooters. It’s a bit of the same thinking as the older conglomerates from Japan and South Korea like Mitsubishi.

When Johan brings up Samantha Fox, there is a nostalgic leap in the reading. There was no poster on the wall above the bed, but many Samantha copies still passed by, there was a time when all girls were supposed to look like her.

The attention from guys who couldn’t behave probably became too much for her, so she switched sides and got herself a wife.

  3. I hope the new Pope Robert Prevost can calm the enormous polarization in the world. As it is now, people are against elites. BRIC countries against Western countries. Women against men. It doesn’t look good. What sets us apart becomes more important than what unites us. All fueled by the media that fuels the anxiety. Yes, the word anxiety has become a favorite among headline writers.

I sense a slightly new tone in the media about the new pope. Even here in Protestant Sweden where we have always detested the Catholic. It seems to be time to find a new wavelength that is reconciling and bridging. It is hopeful.

  4. What a lovely start to the day it turned out to be!

I was on site quite early, thinking I’d do some maintenance before you visitors show up.
The Astra theme (and a few plugins) have been updated to new versions.
First, I installed everything in the development environment without any issues.

Then I did the same thing here on the site.

Astra then suddenly thought it was a good idea to discard all the theme customizations and reset everything.

    Perfect!
I’ve never experienced that before, it feels good to gain new experiences of another way problems can arise!

It’s not possible to just roll back a backup because then everything done since last night disappears.
I’ll have to set up the database from the backup, figure out where Astra stores its settings, and just export and import.

But before that, of course, I tried all the other tricks available, but of course, none of them worked.

Thanks, Astra, for making me spend two hours on this! 👍

To the rest of you, I apologize if the site looked terrible for a while!

      Sure, it’s wonderful with upgrades.
As soon as something has become stable, an upgrade comes that resets and makes it unstable, and after some years, you are forced to buy a new computer/mobile phone because of these damn upgrades.

      1. Well, it’s a hassle.

WordPress websites are generally a pain to keep updated. Besides WordPress and the theme, you usually have 5-20 plugins, and there are updates all the darn time. In 98% of cases, it goes well. Usually, when it doesn’t go well, it might be something simple, but then there are times when it goes really haywire.

You’re also dependent on what’s running on the server. I have some clients who don’t host with me, and they handle everything themselves (except when things go really wrong or if something needs to be developed).

Suddenly, their website has crashed completely and only shows an error message because the web host has changed the PHP version, which is not compatible with the website because the clients haven’t updated. Or they are good at updating but are running a slightly older version of PHP, so when they update, it crashes because some plugin has stopped supporting the older PHP version.

It has happened that you end up in a Catch-22 situation where some plugins only work with older PHP but not newer ones (and there are no updates), and at the same time, there are newer plugins that don’t support the older one. It’s impossible to make it work no matter which PHP version you try, so you have to start switching to older versions of the plugin or update the code yourself in the plugin (which, of course, will be overwritten the next time a new version comes).

    2. Received a DM from a worried visitor who said he was redirected to symaskiner.se

But good that you had to work for free for two hours on a Friday – then you know you’re alive 👍

A Hungarian military espionage network has been uncovered in Ukraine. The country’s security service, SBU, reported this on Telegram. Two individuals who were previously employed in the Ukrainian military are said to have been recruited by Hungary’s intelligence service. They have now been arrested and charged with suspicion of high treason. “Their task was to gather information about the military security in the Transcarpathian region, search for vulnerabilities in the region’s land and air defense, and study the socio-political opinions of local residents,” writes SBU on Telegram according to SVT. Hungary has not commented on the arrests.

Orbán still dreams of the Hungarian empire.

Perhaps it’s time for Europe to take a stand.

    1. It’s more than just Wesley – the Hungarian Defense Forces were in mobilized mode in 2023 and ready to enter Transcarpathia has now emerged.

  8. Great post Johan! 👍
(Yes, except for your kind attitude towards Trump of course! 😂)

Now we have both a Pakistan/India conflict initiated by China and September to worry about.
I don’t think it will play out myself.

I believe China is content with flexing a bit and supporting different sides, I don’t think they want open war where they themselves participate even if they won’t back down if it comes to that.
Similar to the trade war. They respond, but don’t initiate.

But we’ll see, maybe WW3 is upon us soon.

      1. When it comes to Pakistan-India, I mean escalate so that more countries get involved and China, among others, get actively involved. I have no opinion on how far Pakistan and India themselves are willing to go.
It could very well be a full-scale war between them, as they have had four wars since 1947.

  9. “Ryska medborgare har anslutit sig till organisationen av luftdelen av paraden den 9 maj och lanserar hemgjorda drönare någonstans i Moskva-regionen. ❗️Videon annonseras av källan som “Morgonhälsningar från Vladimir-regionen i Ryssland””

  10. “Ukrainas PHOENIX obemannade systemsregemente i arbete: en rysk stridsvagn, ammunitionslager och ett dussin ryska lastbilar förstörda.”

    1. I suspect that it is a conclusion he has drawn himself. I have not seen anything about them expressing themselves.

However, of course, there is a lot written about how Europe is now trying to avoid American weapons or weapons with American parts to prevent the USA from being able to stop the usage.

Logically, they should be a little nervous of course, and it would not be strange if they tried to influence Trump.

We’ll see if Johan can find any source when he wakes up!

  11. Not so many KAB and also low for artillery!

AFU: “In total, 193 combat clashes were recorded during the past day.

The enemy launched one missile and 18 aviation strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements, applied one missile and dropped 32 KAB. In addition, he carried out almost 4,000 shells, 67 of them – from jet systems of amphibious fire, and deployed 2659 kamikadze drones for impression.”
  12. Awkward story about Thyberg.

“The new national security adviser Tobias Thyberg, who was introduced by Ulf Kristersson (M) on Thursday, is prevented from starting work. DN reports.

The newspaper writes that they have seen a picture ‘of a sensitive nature’ that appears to depict Thyberg.”
    https://omni.se/sakerhetsradgivaren-stoppas-timmar-efter-att-han-presenterats-av-kristersson/a/dR1zVX

“Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson regrets the situation after Tobias Thyberg’s resignation as national security adviser.

    – This is serious, withholding information that would have been crucial for a security clearance is, as everyone understands, serious, it is a clear conclusion that he cannot have that job, I regret the situation, says Kristersson to TV4 at a regional defense meeting in Oslo.
To Dagens Nyheter, Ulf Kristersson says ‘it is a system failure that this information does not come to light’.”
    https://omni.se/kristersson-det-har-ar-alllvarligt/a/GyLJr4

    1. Thyberg has been an ambassador in Afghanistan before. He is apparently married to another man. Someone has saved a picture that Thyberg posted on a website for homosexuals called Grindr and sent it to DN and the government office.

    2. Westley Richard

Completely unbelievable that he could slip through and actually believed that his images wouldn’t surface sooner or later. Damn clumsy of Thyberg not to decline when he had a skeleton in the closet, now he can hardly continue as an ambassador. Kristersson should have made it very clear to those who handled the recruitment that it couldn’t go wrong after the previous security advisor. Is he surrounding himself with idiots? Those who have conducted the security clearance and handled the recruitment should be dismissed immediately.

      1. Nja. I perceive it as there being a homosexual overrepresentation at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as well as a social democratic (party membership is important), since at least the 1970s. However, sexual orientation is not of interest in a security check if the person is open about it, is in a committed relationship (partner/married), and sticks to it. Political views as well, as long as they do not conflict with the interests of the Kingdom of Sweden. – What happened 10-15-20 years ago may therefore be outdated, even from a security perspective.

My conclusion is that the image is “explicit” (like genitalia in a body opening) and he knows there are many more. => This can go on for a long time and the media can revel in it. More of a media damage than a security damage.

Therefore, minimizing damage means a quick resignation. – Does anyone smell the scent of Russian influence?

        1. Westley Richard

At least feel the smell of Margot Wallström who reshaped the Ministry for Foreign Affairs into something that needs to be cleaned up. No Russians are needed to sabotage an authority, just a naive set of values.

        2. Of course, I don’t know what kind of pictures they are, but I’m inclined to agree with you. If he himself posted them, they shouldn’t work for blackmail.

If he had been smart, he would have released them himself right away and said something like “I don’t see the problem, didn’t think you were judged for your sexual orientation here in Sweden and could never imagine it would have any security implications.” But as I said, I don’t know what kind of pictures they are… Regardless, it would have come out long before.

Now you get the feeling that someone is waiting until now just to cause a scandal.

    3. The most fun part is that our parties to the left of center are only for LGBTQ+1 when they are not Moderates 🤣🤣 Have seen an enormous flood of comments from that direction about his scantily clad pictures on Grndr.

Unfortunately, he has not been open about the skeletons in the closet (was he married and had an account on Grndr?) and then he is sensitive to influence from the Russians.

    1. Westley Richard

Good decision by Starmer to put pressure on the shadow fleet.
More questioning about his decision yesterday to buy planes from Boeing for 100 billion. What is he going to do with them? British Airways is now owned by a Spanish company that is listed on the stock exchange in Madrid and London. Did he intend for them to buy the planes?

  13. Good that you’re returning to Swedish, Johan! The jokes and the vivid language just get so much better!

Filip and Fredrik tried with a podcast in English a few years ago hoping to make it big in the USA, Japan, or wherever it might have been. It was shut down after a few months, I remember.

YES, what an excellent comment section we have here on the yellow wall!

      1. I now write in Serbocratian but the translation program changes everything to Swedish! 😂
(I wonder where Johan got that Serbocratian from. 🤷‍♂️)

    1. The band Imperiet, Kent (and many other bands) have also tried to release records in English in hopes of making it big in the USA and the rest of the world, but the success did not come.

  14. The public sector is losing more and more in quality with each passing year. Talents are moving to the private sector. I myself have worked for the state for many years, but my contacts with the Companies Registration Office in a case last year made me wonder about the level of education and knowledge of Swedish. Add decision templates of the copy and paste type that end up wrong.

  15. Thank you Johanno1, there is a lot going on as they say. India Pakistan is a real long runner and flares up periodically unfortunately. There are of course other players with different interests that they are watching over, but I don’t think we can call this conflict a proxy war. Not least because Moscow has positioned itself behind both China and India in different ways while China sells weapons to Pakistan at the same time as they have Moscow as their backyard.

Then I don’t think September will play out, Moscow has too much to lose in such an operation and China probably prefers to be on the other side of the world if it happens.

China, yes, their trade seems to be quite unaffected in the short term, but of course it could be different if their more technologically advanced exports decline too much. It cannot be replaced by squeaking plastic ducks or rubber shrimps.

Then I don’t think Israel is next in line at all. The Palestinians now have a solidly bad reputation throughout the Arab world due to strategically stupid decisions. For example, they were granted refuge in Jordan, which ended with them attempting to assassinate the King of Jordan. When Iraq invaded Kuwait and prepared to invade Saudi, the Palestinians under Arafat took a stand for Iraq. Etc, etc, while Israel is seen as a reliable trading partner that can be trusted even on security issues. It is probably no coincidence that Hamas started the conflict just as Saudi and Israel were about to establish diplomatic relations.

And as we can see, Israel is striking against Hamas and Hezbollah, both of which are Iranian-backed, which is appreciated by the other countries in the region who do not want Iran to gain influence in the region.

So I believe that Israel has a free hand when it comes to combating Hamas/Hezbollah and that the outcome will be something like an economic free zone in Gaza where one or more Arab states will administer and maintain security.

    1. The spaces between were the 70s and a smaller screen mystique 1999.
      Slightly higher stakes today, presumably?

Yes, Gaza will be something like that because the West is keeping quiet. Should be settled already.

Lebanon seems to have Hezbollah under control.

Russia’s economy has an expiration date and Ukraine can now drone 2700km into the country.

Either RU has thrown in the towel or they are increasing the stakes – what are they known for doing?

In Ukraine, increased stakes lead to nothing.

North Korea’s 11AC will probably go on the defensive along the border with UA.

    2. Westley Richard

Saudi apparently has economic problems which sounds a bit strange. Their entire economy is based on income from oil and they have very little other sources of income. 2/3 of the population are employed by the state, not because the state has that need but because there are few other jobs and the regime does not want them wandering aimlessly on the streets. I believe that Saudi is more dependent on a good relationship with Israel than we think. The Israelis could help develop the economy to not only rely on oil revenues that can vary greatly.
Right now, the Saudi budget is in deficit which a higher oil price could alleviate, the problem is that many OPEC countries have sold significantly more than agreed, which has pushed prices down. In the end, MBS had enough and decided that OPEC had to increase quotas even if it meant lower prices so they could sell more and increase revenues. At the same time, the lower oil prices were a punishment for the countries that had sold more than they should have.
The Arab countries are quite tired of Iran’s proxy warriors who do not contribute anything but only sabotage the economy. Israel has probably been given quite a free hand to clean up in Gaza without sabotaging future trade agreements.

  16. “Orban’s Hungary is launching an unprecedented hate campaign against Ukraine, – DW The situation in Hungary looks as if the authorities have borrowed the “hate campaigns” from George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984”.”

  17. The American Vice President JD Vance urges India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions in the border province of Kashmir, several media outlets report referring to an interview on Fox News. According to Vance, the USA, however, will not intervene and cannot control the countries.

  18. The ten countries within the defense cooperation Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), which includes all the Nordic countries, support the US demand for an unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, writes TT.

    – We need a ceasefire first, an unconditional ceasefire that must be monitored and respected before entering into negotiations on the major issues to achieve a long-term peace, says Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who is currently hosting a JEF summit.

  19. Oops, that was a sudden change of pace… I wonder what it could be due to?

“The American administration is working on soon receiving a first group of white South Africans who have been granted refugee status, according to information provided to the New York Times. While virtually all other refugee admissions have been halted since Donald Trump took office as president, white South Africans from the minority Afrikaner group have been welcomed as they are reportedly subjected to racist persecution in their home country.

According to the NYT, it often takes two years or more for people fleeing war and disasters to be allowed into the USA, time they are often forced to spend in various camps. In this case, the South Africans have not had to wait more than three months.”
    https://omni.se/usa-nara-att-ta-emot-vita-sydafrikaner-som-flyktingar/a/LMEXdx

    1. When it comes to the South Africans, it’s true – they are under enormous pressure in South Africa now.

But yes, suddenly the doors were wide open when everyone else is supposed to go out 🤣🤣

But don’t we also do that when we list a country as in need of protection and then it becomes a fast track in?

  20. Another recruitment that has been made without a proper background check.

“Concerned voices are raised when a new pope is elected. Pope Leo XIV is already accused of protecting individuals who are said to have committed abuses within the church.

During his time as the highest leader in the Catholic diocese of Chicago, he provided a sanctuary in church properties to a pastor who had abused children, something that The Pillar previously reported on.

He is also accused of covering up three abuse scandals involving Peruvian women within the church, as reported by Newsweek.”

    1. Like this – it’s impossible to find a candidate who hasn’t been involved in it 😀

The best they can do is to choose someone who at least wasn’t a perpetrator.

When that scandal exploded in the early 2000s, the whole damn priesthood was involved, almost

      1. I believe he was chosen because the Vatican is afraid of tariffs.

They first tried to choose Trump three times but there were too many who felt that it was going a bit too far so there was a black-out on that. Then it remained to vote for an American.

  21. After watching the parade, I am now convinced that Russia will start de-escalating and not come up with more mischief in the future – that was really what the parade projected.

    1. I feel very curious about this insight, could you please develop the reasoning a bit? Feel free to extrapolate as much as you like, of course! 🙂

  22. Feels like Trump’s perception of what is reasonable is not reasonable.

“A reasonable tariff level against China is 80 percent, writes US President Donald Trump on his platform Truth Social. It is ‘up to Scott B’, Finance Minister Scott Bessent, he continues before the countries’ tariff talks this weekend.”

  23. Miniature aircraft carrier for FPV drones.

“GUR showed a new unmanned “drone carrier”. — capable of carrying four containers with ready-to-launch FPV drones; — its platform can carry from 500 to 3,000 kilograms of various types of weapons – air, surface, underwater; — NATO AI and the latest technologies are combined in its control systems.”

  24. It turned out pretty much as we guessed – a display of strength and marching soldiers were taken from the strategic reserve along with all the new hardware dedicated to it.

Remember the parade when the tanks that participated were knocked out in Ukraine two weeks later 🤣🤣

The fact that he managed to get 29 countries to attend is a signal as good as any that Russia is no longer a pariah. No one wanted to come the first year…

Compare with 2023 when things went worst for RU

  25. I have some difficulty with BTR and BMP if they are older with just a new weapon station or the latest, but surely a company of Armata rolled by?

    1. Troll dough kneaders in that case, the engine compartment is apparently too small for a regular engine and the one they chose is about the universe’s worst and most unreliable engine. Ever.

    1. Bag-in-box with a pretty good Rosé. Strawberry and Pineapple flavor. Alcohol, as we know, contains energy. Haven’t eaten since the pizza last night.

      1. Reminds me of when I in my youth tried making my own wine.
Found a ready-made kit that seemed easy.
Didn’t read carefully, but it wasn’t exactly grape juice, instead some flavor additives.
There were hints of both pineapple and coconut, etc.
Took some bottles to a party. The wine was then named HubbaBubba wine after the old chewing gum.
Well, well, we did get drunk, at least.

  26. Have opened with a couple of cans of cider and mixed drinks at the liquor store. A bubbly pink drink with an indeterminate taste. But 5.8%, which is OK.

  27. Maybe one could see it like this instead?
The USA has to digest that Europe is the USA’s ally. We are more powerful than them if you count all of Europe and not just the EU. We have better living habits, better bike lanes, and more beautiful women. They have bigger cars, okay, and are better in the advertising industry (Google, Facebook), but things like that can change and are largely about access to capital, where the USA has had a positive spiral. Every positive spiral becomes a negative one when the tides turn. So it’s a bit bitter for the USA to crawl to Europe when they happen to be at war with China, but they have to swallow their pride.
Europe can fairly easily hold the line against Russia if we commit to it, and receive help from the brave Ukrainians. When Russia starts to disintegrate into republics, some will join the China bloc and others the Western bloc. Overall, the Ural Mountains will likely be the main border.
With a number of pro-Western republics between Europe and China, and victory in Ukraine, Europe’s most important role is to become the new major arms factory for the USA. We have the metals, such as the Norra Kärr mine, and it’s only a few government decisions away from being able to start when the will is there – we saw yesterday how well it went with cement extraction on Gotland when there’s a desire.
At least one can dream now as cold beer is on the way and then brandy on top of that.

      1. Did you edit?
Have discovered that if you first write and then edit, the code is misinterpreted and the paragraphs disappear.
        You have to redo them.

        Have not found any solution.

Perhaps one of the reasons why IT is hated and falls below the 4% threshold in all surveys.. 😪

      1. No, a discovery of rare earth metals that environmentalists believe will poison Lake Vättern even though it is an open-pit mine and it still wouldn’t be any greater danger if one dumped the whole discovery into Lake Vättern. They seem to prefer sending their sons and daughters to the front lines in tanks made of recycled soda cans, one must assume.

    1. I’m a bit into it too even though I’ve only reached the point where Trump turns and we are the adults in the room.

The USA will definitely need our help in the power struggle with China.

A good Friday post DJ, now one dreams away that Russia breaks up into some new countries and Putin ends his days deep-marinated in gasoline hanging by his feet in a gas station

  28. Warm welcome to Friday fun – unfortunately Bruce Willis’ grandchild realized it was Friday and had to go to a party, and Wesley Snipes googled what loose snus is and backed out like a coward.

We usually have celebrity visits with some shows every Friday, but not this week – next week will be full of action again. I have had to ask quite a few people to control themselves and wait for their turn – for example, Steve Martin is only available in July but he is trying to push himself forward and he is being dishonest, trying to say that Harry Belafonte canceled and sending SMS from an unknown number that looks like it’s from Harry “I am sick and cannot come, book Steve instead.”

Apparently, 65% of Swedes are hanging out here early on Friday evenings now, but MXT has bought more server space.

I have also invited the USA (formal invitation), so if you see anyone speaking strangely, try to make them feel welcome – give them a long can.

(If the language is similar to Serbo-Croatian, it’s just MXT using his new translation program, so use laughing emojis so he thinks you’re laughing with him).

The USA will learn Swedish tradition, and all they really need to learn is Friday fun, right?

I’ve heard that onions, lemon, and avocado are all good for getting in shape, so now I’m just eating those three chopped and mixed for lunch for a month to see if I can reach the beach by 2025 this time.

However, we can’t escape having a few long cans on Fridays – there has to be a limit to healthiness – down here, the best you can find is Stella and that’s good enough.

I just checked the weather where I live, and global warming has really hit hard – 5 degrees at night 😶

As a poor wanderer in the lower class, I wonder when the hell global warming will reach southern Sweden so I can stop using the heating in May 😭 I’m starting to feel cheated by the climate activists who have been promising this for at least 10 years now.

This one is so funny that I have to share it – Putin is trying to trick Xi Jinping into having tea, but he clearly has been through this before and manages to avoid it 🤣🤣🤣

If you thought I hadn’t found funny movies, you were wrong, they are funnier than ever 🤣🤣

    A monkey having fun

Or frog fights, who would have thought it could be hysterical, but it is 😂😂

If the frogs didn’t make you laugh to death, a drunk squirrel is still pretty funny

We’ll end with the sleeping dog

  29. 🍷Spanish wines and French, serious and worth taking seriously. Portuguese too if you think about it. Italian wines seem to be a mix of good and bad.

🥃 is always 🥃. Cheers tmf!

    1. Fentanyl is thus becoming a key issue?
      Not 145 percent tariffs? 🤔

“When the USA and China meet in Geneva this weekend to negotiate down the sky-high tariffs, Xi Jinping’s top security official is participating. Several sources with insight to the Wall Street Journal report that Wang Xiaohong’s participation in the meeting only proves one thing: that fentanyl is becoming a ‘key issue.’ That assessment is made by Yun Sun, a China expert at the American think tank Stimson Center.”

  30. That Google chose to agree to Trump’s proposal to change the name of the Mexican Gulf to the American Gulf has not been well received in Mexico, and now President Claudia Sheinbaum announces that they have sued the company. This is reported by AFP.

    1. Putin is really the worst 😡

He gets his damn fireworks over the parade so now he’s going to bomb Ukraine to pieces as a thank you.

Have we really not learned yet after three years…

  31. Back to wine – a bottle of Periquita with a black label cost 4-5EUR in Portugal a few years ago.

It was among the best I’ve ever tasted and now they have gone up in price.

There’s nothing better than a cheap bottle of wine that tastes good 😀

    1. Golden void, speaks to me.
      Denying my reality.
I lose my body, lose my mind,

Is there something wrong with me
I cannot hear, I cannot see
        Down a corridor of flame

Actually something for Putin to experience.

        1. Down a corridor of flame.

Yes, Putin needs to stand there naked before his own singularity as far away from the event horizon as possible so that the rest of us can be rid of him!

  32. – Greenland, now you have the chance to finally get special status!
    Greenland:
    – What?

“American officials are currently working on a plan to offer Greenland special status. The plan involves Greenland signing an agreement on free association, a so-called “compact of free association,” Reuters reports.”

  33. First of all, a big thank you to Juan Number One & Mats Extrudo for your work on this new abode. Greetings!

I really love reading the flow of ideas from Juan. It’s truly “out of the box” and not at all unlikely.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is this Zapad exercise. Ukraine is blocked from NATO by Trump … and surely also by Fico & Orban.

So what about JEF then? Isn’t it true that this gang would like to see Ukraine join in?

Perhaps they promise to send a whole battalion of drone specialists if things heat up.
The quid pro quo from the rest of JEF may – in the short term – not be reciprocal, but these countries should not miss the opportunity to, for example, gain on-site experience of how modern frontline warfare really unfolds in Ukraine.

    1. Johan No.1 has long been talking about JEF as an alternative for Ukraine, and I believe he is actually onto something there and that it could be a way forward. Not only for Ukraine’s part but also for other parties in terms of knowledge transfer and access to experience and soldiers with experience in modern times.
