Ukraine and world daily update 7th May 2025

Ukraine drones all of Russia again – given that it is the 6th May and nightly drone swarms all over the place, how sure is Putin of his precious parade right now 😀

Russia is the instigator behind a fair bit of the unrest in the world and those of us who lived through the Cold war recognizes that they have merely dusted off that old playbook and reinvented themselves just a little to fit.

For example, 7th October 2023 that ignited middle east (again) has Russia’s fingerprints all over it, and Chinas too as they helped to build Hamas tunnels.

The Palestine-Israel conflict was pretty much invented by Soviet – or they seized an opportunity rather and then never allowed it die out.

Syria started the Yom Kippur war that ended in their defeat after Soviet lied through their teeth to Syria that Israel was about to attack – they simply felt they had no other option than to rush a pre-emptive strike to save themselves.

Our round of “1968 protests” are the anti-Israel demonstrations over the past couple of years with university occupations and the lot – exactly how Soviet did during the Vietnam war and these protests are at least guided by Russia.

Vietnam war…

US was mildly speaking not performing at its best but history as it has been presented to at least us in Sweden has been a bit misleading –

Vietnam ended up divided with two governments when the French eventually left. North Vietnam did not settle for this and started a war against the ethnic vietnamese government of South Vietnam – they were the defenders. US got roped in and escalated their presence but largely did not cross the 17th parallel into North Vietnam with land forces.

Atrocities carried out by US was exceeded by the north Vietnamese side. The US left and lost and too was the north Vietnamese that broke the truce and continued as soon as US left.

Or South Africa that absolutely deserved an end to their Apartheid-regime but it was Soviet drumming up the support for ending this among university students in the west and the subsequent boycotts absolutely crippled the south African regime.

Russia did not do this out of compassion for the majority population of South Africa but for dominance in Africa – Soviet had other motives.

Today Wagner are in over half of the countries in Africa killing, raping and instigating civil wars – Russia is not your friend and among the worst of the predators.

And they did it again a few years back – the anti-colonial movement have completely pacified the leaders in the west so nobody will interfere as Russia is now spreading out over the African continent in a cloud of murder and plunder.

What stood out to me when I watched something about the Vietnam war was that when US decided to go after the Viet Cong bases in Cambodja then all-out anti-war protests erupted in most US universities – when it hurt Viet Cong then the peace protests kicked in overdrive – a reasonably strong link to suspect Russian involvement.

And as soon as US left and North Vietnam steamrolled the south, nobody cared anymore 🧐

I remember the “Vietnamese boat refugees” from when I was a kid but in Sweden that was presented as US being responsible for those, not North Vietnam.

The other bit was Kissingers catastrophic negotiations in 1972 – pretty similar to Trumps peace negotiations in the Ukraine war, until he gave up 😀

Russia identifies division and internal conflicts in countries and ignites and amplifies it as much as they can. During the cold war +80% of KGB budget went to this as it was low cost and yielded amazing results – they could win wars and take over countries without firing a single bullet.

In Sweden they have armed the gangs and supplied them with drugs to sell and the know-how.

An added benefit of their activities are of course making a sh1t-tonne of money on the side.

The Ukraine-Russia war is a clear-cut war for independence from a vial oppressor, that is also one of the worlds last colonial powers – worthy cause for the world to rally against but the grass root movement is not there.

In this war it has been governments doing the right thing and citizens-movements been largely absent – have you seen anti-israel or pro-ukraine protests in your city over the last couple of years?

Russia is incredibly good at what they are doing, they even managed to instigate a difficult discussion on the colonial past in the west to pacify us so they could re-colonize Africa again in recent years 😶

Wagner proudly released a movie a while ago where they chopped up live prisoners with axe on the tarmac in a country in Africa – do not recommend anyone to watch that…

Russia are now trying to topple Israel the same way as they toppled South Africa through sanctions, and they are trying to get us in west to abandon Ukraine as they got US out of Vietnam.

Same playbook different year.

Merz in Germany had a splash of potential russian intervention when he did not get elected as chancellor – Russia thrives in narrow-majority situations as they always have someone anonymous they can bribe but a vote is a vote. It eventually got sorted out.

In Romania they played safe and pocketed both the extreme left and extreme right – much as they have done in most of Europe.

Brexit was a Russian operation and in hindsight – 2015 came as a god-send for the brexiteers, and that also had Russian finger prints all over it.

Russia is in a war with West and they are actively destabilizing Europe as we speak.

The murder candidates, they bribe politicians, they threaten others into submission – this is a priority for the Russian state and they got plenty of budget for it.

In Sweden it has been revealed that they have links to organized crime so they got both the money and the means to threaten without having to send anyone in from Russia – domestic work force already in place.

Their sabotage is now covering most of Europe and it is increasing.

When is it enough?

If Trump now has pivoted on Ukraine this is important for Europe – we MUST sort out our eastern border before the global conflict takes off.

If we do not do that, we risk a new cold war which was an absolute pain to live in btw.

Grab that half dry leave with holes in it hanging from the burnt olive branch – be the grown up in the room and focus on making sure that Ukraine have the support to win this.

If we finally after three years manages to do this right the global conflict will largely be fought in the pacific and not in our (European) backyard.

  1. Good morning!
    Russian losses in Ukraine 2025-05-07

    • 1270 KWIA
    • 14 Tanks
    • 3 APVs
    • 71 Artillery systems
    • 124 UAVs
    • 1 Cruise missile
    • 131 Vehicles & Fuel tanks

    Glory to Ukraine!

  2. AFU: “In total, during the past day, 171 combat encounters were recorded.
Yesterday, the enemy launched four missile strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements with the use of four missiles, as well as 96 air strikes, including dropping 187 controlled air bombs. In addition, carried out more than 6,400 shelling, of which 109 were from jet systems of the salpovogo fire, and deployed 3267 kamikaze drones for the impression.”
  3. Russia continued its nightly attacks, targeting civilians as usual. Kyiv was apparently the main target tonight. Two dead and five injured, but as the rescue operation progresses, there is a high risk that these numbers will increase.

“Direct hit on a multistory residential building in western Kyiv. Another couple of big bangs as I write this – a really furious Russian/Iranian drone attack on the Ukrainian capital. Hasn’t been this noisy since… 13 days ago (April 24, big missile attack on Kyiv).”

“Two dead and five injured in Kyiv (four of them children) – these are the consequences of the Russian Federation’s nighttime attack on the capital’s civilian infrastructure.”

  4. Kadyrov wants to resign, and according to rumors, he wants his 17-year-old son to take over. There have been some earlier reports about his faltering health, perhaps those rumors have been true and he feels that he doesn’t have any strength left.

“Ramzan Kadyrov has asked Vladimir Putin to leave his post as the leader of the Russian republic of Chechnya, writes Newsweek referring to the state-controlled newspaper Chechnya Today.

    – I hope that my request will be granted, says Kadyrov.

The statement comes after the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta reported that Kadyrov wants his 17-year-old son to take over the leadership.”

“Ramzan Kadyrov requested from Putin his resignation as the head of the Republic of Chechnya. This is an earthquake within Russia‘s political system.”

    1. Tjetjenien’s “dictator” asking for permission to resign?! MMUUUAHAHAHAAA
What a damn trash! Kadyrov! YOU ARE NOT A DICTATOR! YOU ARE A RIDICULOUS SHEEP!!!

  5. Ukraine once again sent drones towards Moscow last night. Unfortunately, I have not seen any indication that they have reached any targets. The mobile network is shut down and residents are forbidden to report, but information usually gets out anyway. We’ll see if anything comes up during the day.
Regardless, it increases the nervousness in Moscow ahead of the ninth!

What exists are some videos where you can hear or see drones. There are some posts in yesterday’s thread, but here is an example.
“On Russian Telegram: Booms in Moscow ❗️ Explosions continue in Odintsovo district” https://bsky.app/profile/beefeaterfella.bsky.social/post/3lok5l7fq6s2m

  6. The conflict between India and Pakistan escalated last night. Exactly what has happened is difficult to say as there are many rumors spreading. India is said to have attacked nine targets with missiles.
At the same time, Pakistan claims to have shot down several Indian fighter jets, but at least some of the videos and photos circulating on social media have turned out to be old.
We will see if the picture becomes clearer during the day.

“At least 26 people are reported to have been killed and 46 injured after Indian military attacked nine targets in the part of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan. This is reported by Pakistan’s army chief according to Reuters.

Pakistan claims to have shot down Indian military planes, and Pakistani sources tell CNN that three of the planes were Rafale fighter jets, which the channel says are valuable assets for the Indian Air Force.”

Yesterday, the defense forces 🇺🇦 hit 10 areas with a concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, a station for electronic warfare, a radar station, four UAV checkpoints, four artillery systems, one checkpoint, and two enemy 🇷🇺 ammunition depots with air force, robotic forces, and artillery.

    1. Thank you! 👍

The number of conflicts decreased quite a lot, especially compared to the year before, but today KWIA also retreated somewhat. At the same time, it is still high compared to a few weeks ago.

  8. If evidence emerges that this is true (must probably take much of what comes from Hamas-controlled areas with a grain of salt), it will not earn any brownie points for Israel, but it will hardly result in anything other than condemnations. Nor did much more than condemnations come from the rest of the world when Hamas carried out the terrorist attack on the seventh of October either. 🤷♂️

“A total of 31 people have been killed and dozens more injured in Israeli attacks on a school in Gaza, according to the civil defense in the Hamas-controlled area. The school housed people who had been displaced during the war.
The attack took place during the night towards Wednesday. Israel claims that the attack was aimed at a “Hamas center” that had served as a weapons depot.
Authorities in Gaza state that over 2,300 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel broke the ceasefire nearly two months ago.”

    1. Fighting against Hamas is like playing cards against someone who cheats, but you must not cheat yourself because then you’ll get shit for it. This is a difficult balancing act.

I fully support Israel’s response for October 7th. Wipe out the bastards!
Hamas are cowardly scum who hide among civilians and use them as shields. HOWEVER, Israel cannot behave like Russia and bomb everything civilian that they “think” contains military targets.

    1. These conversations have gone under the radar. The media doesn’t quite keep up with all the twists and turns. It’s clear that the USA, as the consumer society it is, needs Chinese goods. Could a halving of imports from China be a goal? Otherwise, China has markets in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America and still manages.

      1. A halving could probably be a reasonable goal, but it would need to happen in the long term, perhaps over a period of 5-15 years and maybe sector by sector with clear plans on how it will be done.

High tariffs, and above all the uncertainty they entail (especially when decisions change so quickly), are not a good solution. Right now, many are simply stopping imports because it will not be possible to sell the goods at double the price or more. (Many have the entire production in China or all components are Chinese and they only assemble themselves.)

Perhaps Trump is starting to realize that tariffs are not working, on the other hand, there is a new proposal for 100% tariffs on films so I’m not really sure if it has sunk in yet.

The tariffs have of course surely worked as a strong scare tactic.
It may of course lead to the US getting a slightly better deal than before, but the problem remains.

The US is one of the richest countries in the world with high wages and expensive production.
Even if the US manages to bring back production, it will be about as expensive as it is now with tariffs from China, if not even more expensive.

The trade balance will be difficult to address. How do you force low-wage countries to import from the US? They can’t afford it.

The EU could of course take on importing slightly more than before, maybe also China, the UK, Canada, and a few others, but hardly in any decisive volumes.

I believe that the costs of the tariffs and the lost trust in the US will cost them more than the deals they can get to.

        1. Westley Richard

It is not easy to bring back production that has been moved abroad. Knowledge of mass production has also been lost, while the Chinese have streamlined their production so that it is often far superior to what it was in the USA.
Looking at the cost breakdown for a pair of Nike shoes priced at $100, it often looks like this:
          Labor $10
          Materials and manufacturing $15
          Shipping and customs $5
          Marketing $10
          Nike profit $10
Retailer costs and profit $50, this is in the best case scenario, many shoes are sold at a discount.
What happens if we move production to the USA, labor costs may increase by $50, but manufacturing costs will surely double as American manufacturing equipment must be purchased if available at all, and production facilities for leather tanning, sole casting, thread twisting, etc., must be established.
The retailer must also increase their markup by 50%, ultimately resulting in shoes becoming as expensive as a pair of Trickers or Crocket & Jones. Suddenly, shoe sales will plummet, and few will be able to afford to keep up with fashion trends, which may be good for the planet but will have economic repercussions.

          1. Over 95% of all clothes in the USA are manufactured abroad. However, a 100% tariff will still make it cheaper to import than to produce in the USA.

  9. If the UN looked different and had a bit more backbone, perhaps the world would listen to Guterres, but as it is now, who really cares about what the UN says, regardless of whether they are right or not? The UN is completely toothless today and may well be seen more as a pure humanitarian aid organization.

“UN Secretary-General António Guterres is concerned about the Indian military’s attack on Pakistan-controlled areas in Kashmir. He urges both countries to show military restraint, writes The Guardian.

    – The world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan, says a spokesperson for the Secretary-General.”
    https://omni.se/varlden-har-inte-rad-med-en-militar-konfrontation/a/yEdmRa

Trump, on the other hand, has the power to do something about it if he decided to, but he does not make any appeals. He just hopes that it will blow over on its own as quickly as possible.

“Donald Trump was informed of the Indian attack on Pakistan-controlled areas in Kashmir before a press conference on Tuesday.
    – It’s a shame. We just heard about it, says the president according to international media and continues:
    – I just hope it blows over quickly.”

    1. Westley Richard

It is interesting to see how the UN has degenerated in recent years, not only as an organization but also in the consciousness of Swedes. The UN was highly ranked in Sweden, Sweden bribed its way to a seat on the Security Council in 2017-2018 to rule the world with feminism. It didn’t turn out very well, and now it is Saudi Arabia that controls the UN Women’s organization. The fact that a lot of scandals have emerged, such as collaboration between the UN and Hamas, hardly increases trust. The UN is surely needed in some form, but it needs reform, which is probably not straightforward. Organizations that rely on contributions are usually not keen on extensive reforms unless it means an increase in funds.

  10. Unfortunately, Crude Oil is on the rise, currently at 59.8 (+1.22%).
I wonder if this is a reaction to the upcoming talks between the USA and China.

    1. Yes or that a general economic upturn is expected. Many underdog countries in the world have become richer and consume more energy. And they are buying cars, washing machines, frozen food, diapers, and microwaves. I think it is this demand that is behind the price increases on food that Sweden and other countries are experiencing right now.

      1. Well, there is probably a lot of truth to that. Global trade partly leads to the distribution of wealth in countries where production is cheap, but after a while, it evens out and when they achieve a better standard of living, their consumption increases. However, I believe that pricing depends a lot on other short-term factors such as increased production, etc., but in the long run, we may perhaps see a continued rise.

Admittedly, oil is being phased out more and more as an energy source for heating and vehicles, but it won’t be easy to replace it when it comes to the production of plastics, etc.

            1. Westley Richard

The Earth uses more energy to cool buildings than to heat them. Over 90% of the oil is burned, either as fuel, directly for heating, or to produce electricity that can be used for cooling or heating. 5% goes to plastic and 5% to chemicals, lubricants, etc. My figures may be a bit old, it’s been 15 years since I left the plastics industry.

          1. When it comes to plastics, it was just one example of other products than fuel and heating.

If a country becomes richer, consumption is likely to increase not only of plastic but also of chemicals, solvents, pharmaceuticals, asphalt, etc. where oil is part of the base.
Overall, today it may only be around 25-30% but could probably increase in the future.

          2. Has a background in the oil industry. Back then, the focus was on actively increasing the share of more refined products where the profitability is significantly better. At the expense of less sales of fuel as well as heating/cooling.

May sound strange to many ears but a number of oil companies support/drive electrification.

            1. Interesting, but it’s probably not so strange after all if you think about it.

Oil is limited and will eventually run out. If it can be refined, it yields higher returns and then one probably doesn’t want to waste the resource by burning it up.

  11. I can’t help but agree with Biden in this case!

“Former President Biden slams Trump’s Ukraine stance, calling it “modern-day appeasement” of Russia.

“I just don’t understand how people think that if we allow a dictator, a thug, to decide he’s going to take significant portions of land that aren’t his, that that’s going to satisfy him,” Biden said in the interview which was broadcast on Wednesday and the BBC said was recorded on Monday.”

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/former-us-president-biden-accuses-trump-appeasement-russia-2025-05-07/

  12. Just as one started to hope that Trump had forgotten about Greenland, this pops up:

“US intelligence agencies are being urged to step up their collection of information about Greenland, according to two sources familiar with the matter for The Wall Street Journal. The purpose is said to include identifying individuals in both Greenland and Denmark who support Donald Trump’s ambitions to take control of Greenland.

According to the sources, a classified message was sent to several US agency heads last week.”

  13. They probably realize that a nuclear war would be devastating for both sides, but doomsday statements of this kind certainly attract a lot of attention. That’s not to say that the conflict isn’t serious; if it escalates and both sides bring in additional partners, it could spiral out of control enough even if no one resorts to nuclear weapons.

“The violence between India and Pakistan in Kashmir signifies a dangerous development, and the warnings of a nuclear conflict cannot be dismissed,” writes Daily Telegraph’s Samuel Ramani in an analysis.

The risk of the conflict escalating is greater now than in previous confrontations between the countries, claims Ramani. The water agreement that has deterred the countries from war for more than 60 years has been terminated by India. Furthermore, the leadership in both countries have different reasons to escalate rather than calm the conflict.

“This conflict takes the risk of an apocalyptic war between nuclear powers to new levels,” he writes.”

  14. Somewhat unexpected.

“The Green Party and the Left Party are unusually praised by Sweden’s largest conservative and liberal editorial pages today.

Both DN and Expressen support the Green Party. During the party leader debate, it was only Amanda Lind who responded that the price of gasoline and diesel must be raised to meet the climate goals. DN’s editorial page refers to several weighty investigations and asserts that the other parties seem to be engaging in self-deception. Higher prices are required, even if it is likely to annoy large groups of voters.”
    https://omni.se/ledare-hoj-bensinpriserna-eller-lev-i-sjalvbedrageri/a/jQEkPz

    1. Of course, there will be no noticeable price increases with the current government. Many of the core voters on the right side want low gasoline prices regardless of what any investigations may say.
Possibly if surveys are conducted indicating that the majority of the population actually supports it, but I don’t think they do.

        1. 😀

The question is what the majority thinks, would like to see more opportunities to express opinions on specific issues rather than just voting for parties where you agree on some issues but not on others.

Especially when there are many promises that parties cannot implement because they still do not have their own majority.

Of course, many seem to identify with the parties they vote for and agree on most things, but I hope that is not the majority.

            1. The difficult part is to implement it in a simple enough way so that it becomes accessible to everyone. It would probably be quite easy with a digital service, but of course, there are many disadvantages to it. Risk of cheating, not everyone is digitalized, many would not want to use it for the risk of their vote being revealed, etc.

However, if it was used for issues and not parties and mostly as a clear guidance, maybe it would work quite well anyway.

              1. Westley Richard

The problem is that we would get governments forced to implement decisions they are against. Then we miss flexibility and we are forced to take into account a 40-year-old referendum where half of the eligible voters have been replaced and the rest have changed their minds. Imagine if we had voted no on NATO in the 60s, what debates we could have had today about changing that decision.

                1. If we could vote on specific issues in every election, we would avoid the issue of repeated referendums, so it wouldn’t be a problem.

I’m not sure if it’s better to have a government that pushes through its own agenda rather than caring about what the majority wants.
You get votes and win the election based on one issue, then you push through a bunch of other things that people don’t really want, but the main issue was more important in the election.

If we could vote on the specific issues, maybe nuclear power would never have been shut down.

When people started to worry about immigration, it would have had an impact much earlier than it would take for the Sweden Democrats to gather enough voters so they couldn’t be ignored.

When parties need to form a coalition government, it becomes harder for individual parties to engage in blackmail and push through their demands, which may only be supported by a few percent of the population.

The risk I see is that there could be short-term decisions if it turns out that people change their minds back and forth, although I don’t think it should be a problem.

                2. Westley Richard

Interesting thought that I should further explore, unfortunately I’m a bit busy so I will address the topic another day.

      1. Calm down! Now you’re mixing up MP with V and bringing in H and H into the discussion.

But I think your idea isn’t so bad.
“Introducing a fuel tax that goes directly to Hamas and Hezbollah”
So not the idea itself, but that they should run for election with it, then none of them will likely get over 4%. 😂

This is locked so I can’t see it, but if they’ve written something, it’s probably here:
        https://www.expressen.se/kronikorer/viktor-barth-kron/getingbetygvinnare-och-forlorare-i-svts-partiledardebatt/

        DN:

          1. Ah, so that’s where you found it, I was searching around on Expressen.

Yes, yes, but MP had at least a point, albeit about the wrong thing! 😂

On the good old days, you could send them to Australia, we need to find a new continent where both the USA and Sweden can dump those who are difficult to deport.

        1. Hasn’t Musk proposed it already? He could surely get huge grants from the American government to carry it out! 😀

Damn, I read a sci-fi book that I can’t remember the name of now.

There they took and genetically modified and operated on Russian prisoners (it wasn’t really Russia but some future variant of the Soviet Union) so that they could survive and work in the oxygen-poor environment on Mars (they had already started terraforming but hadn’t progressed far enough for humans to survive).

  15. “On May 9, documents will be signed in 🇺🇦Lviv on the creation of a special tribunal that will be able to administer justice regarding the Russian aggression – foreign ministers of dozens of countries, Ukrainian leaders, and the Council of Europe will arrive in the city.”

  16. “Why Russian Shahed explosive drones increasingly evade Ukrainian air defenses and reach Kyiv In recent months, Russia has adapted its use of Shahed drones, employing swarm launches, radar decoys, and higher-altitude flight paths, Texty analysis shows.”

  17. Not quite how I imagined it would go when inserting attack divers.
Admittedly, the defense forces write this about attack divers:
“Your main task as an attack diver is to scout and carry out sabotage, in ALL conceivable environments and climates.”
    https://jobb.forsvarsmakten.se/sv/utbildning/befattningsguiden/gu-befattningar/attackdykare/

So someone more knowledgeable than me might not have been surprised by the Russians’ route of attack:

“The “Spartan” unit had fought off all kinds of Russian assaults – infantry waves, armored vehicles, motorcycles, and even buggies. But this time, the Russians managed to surprise even them.”

  18. For those of you who do not believe in Baltikum 2025.

Iran will have been attacked, India-Pakistan in full war, and probably China has done something too.

Things are starting to heat up to say the least.

    1. Well, you are absolutely right that things are starting to heat up more and more.
I saw that Pakistan has now given the military the green light to respond to the attacks from India.

“Pakistan’s military forces have been given the green light to respond to the Indian attacks in Kashmir, according to a statement from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office, which Reuters has seen.”

It will be interesting to see how China handles the situation. Russia seems to be on India’s side and the USA is hesitating as usual. Does this affect Taiwan or any other small islands?

      1. Taiwan is quite far from Pakistan and India, they shouldn’t get involved unless China takes the opportunity and does something foolish of course. There are no islands directly off the coast of Pakistan (even though it’s not that far to Oman) and also not along the coast of India towards Pakistan’s direction.

There shouldn’t be anyone else affected as long as it stays between India and Pakistan.

  19. OT, but it was quite interesting anyway.

“Amazon has developed a new robot that can sense and pick up items in warehouses, reports Wired. The robot, called Vulcan, is capable of handling around 75 percent of all products in the company’s warehouse and is already being used in a couple of cities.

Several Members of the European Parliament also urge Sweden to increase pressure on Turkey.

An American fighter jet fell overboard from the aircraft carrier Harry S Truman in the Red Sea on Tuesday. The incident occurred during landing. The two pilots ejected and survived with minor injuries. This is the second time in a week that a plane has fallen off the ship. Last week, a fighter jet fell during towing when the vehicle towing it lost control. In December, an American plane was shot down over the Red Sea by the American aircraft carrier USS Gettysburg due to a communication error. Two months later, Harry S Truman was involved in a collision, leading to the commander being fired, according to the Washington Post.

Chance is more successful than the Houthis.

    1. Poor quality. Poor judgment. Poor recruitments. I also think about the helicopter that was flying too high in its course and collided with a passenger plane over NYCity. The USA has problems on many levels. A country in decline. A hoodie culture.

Trump is trying to do something about it when he attacks DEI but he is the wrong person. And the train has probably already left.

  23. The RU sabotage wave is now in full swing in Europe – suggesting that they have plans for more and do not intend to de-escalate, right.

  24. Give me the right to state that Ukraine left Kursk due to pressure from Trump.

They have now made their third comeback in the area when the USA made a 360.

    1. If it had been political pressure from Trump, they would hardly have stayed, for example, at Tyotkino, but would have withdrawn completely from Russia.

      1. I mean, everything will collapse when Russia attacks the Baltics no later than autumn.

But… we know that Ukraine has a hell of an offensive strategic reserve.

And we know that RU has the same.

So when it’s busy in the Baltics

        That’s when Ukraine strikes.

A few million dead Balts will have to be collateral.

        1. Westley Richard

The Russians are in panic ahead of their parade and have been forced to regroup their air defense so that large parts of their strategic locations lack protection.
An attack on the Baltic/NATO would put them in the same situation, NATO has no problem striking towards Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kaliningrad.
Moreover, with a Ukraine having a large reserve, I don’t think Russia would dare to approach the Baltic states so soon.

    1. Do you think the Baltic scenario applies even if there is no ceasefire/peace agreement between UA/RU?

I think that as long as the war is actively ongoing in UA, Putin won’t dare to open a new front precisely because UA might see an opportunity then.

The alternative would be if agreements are made, RU enters the Baltics, and UA then chooses to break the agreement. But UA usually wants to abide by the agreements made.
