    1. Thank you! 👍

Still most intense in Pokrovsk but activity seems to have increased quite a lot in Toretsk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka.

    2. Interesting that there were so many KAB, 253 in total, while none were reported yesterday.

I interpret it as the availability of KAB being the limiting factor, and that after a day with fewer, more could be released. If this is correct, it should go back down to around 170 in a few days.

  2. As of 22:00 yesterday, the losses in the Pokrovsk sector were as follows:

According to preliminary data, 289 enemy combatants have been neutralized in the Pokrovsk sector, 135 of them permanently. In addition, Ukrainian troops destroyed seven armored combat vehicles, one artillery system, 11 vehicles, five UAVs, a UAV control center, a portable electronic warfare station, eight motor vehicles, and damaged a tank, five vehicles, and two motorcycles.

  3. Last night, Russia attacked Odesa.
First, there were reports that they were preparing the attacks:
“Russia has reportedly deployed 6 missile carriers to the Black Sea—total volley up to 46 Kalibrs, monitoring groups say. Stay vigilant. Air raid alerts may follow.”
    https://bsky.app/profile/noelreports.com/post/3lne26lkbu22j

Within an hour, the first videos showing some of the results emerged:
“A series of powerful explosions rocked Odesa. The city is under a massive attack by deadly Russian drones. A large fire is raging in one of the areas.”
    https://bsky.app/profile/kyivpost.com/post/3lndyumxwwk2f

So far, only three injuries have been reported, but the material damage was greater.
“Russia launches mass drone attack on Odesa amid Kyiv’s call for civilian infrastructure ceasefire. The attack targeted a residential building in a densely populated neighborhood, according to local authorities. At least three people were injured.”
    https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lnea6gqa7s24
    https://kyivindependent.com/russia-launches-mass-drone-attack-on-odesa-amid-kyivs-call-for-civilian-infrastructure-ceasefire/

    1. Odessa has been targeted many times, both separately and together with other cities, I want to remember. Now it seems like the Russians have gone all-in to damage/terrorize the city. The city should be a candidate for effective LV, if not already.

      1. Yes, I think so too. We simply have to wait and see how the peace agreement is received and hopefully also see what it actually contains.

  4. Maybe a bit unfair to say that the EU is just watching, but I really understand that the desperation over what is happening makes many feel just that way.

“About 50,000 Ukrainians are missing, and about 10,000 are in Russian captivity,” – Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Cases Dobroserdov. EU – just watch.”

  5. We have already seen posts about declining car sales in Russia, including a decrease in the import of Chinese cars. Here is another one pointing to a 50% reduction in domestic cars.

“The Russian demand for domestically-made cars has dropped by about half, AvtoVaz CEO Maxim Sokolov told journalists on April 21, underscoring the challenges of the Russian automotive industry.”
    https://kyivindependent.com/russian-car-market-faces-50-drop-in-demand-ceo-warns/

  6. Wondering how long Netanyahu will manage to stay in power? He has a knack for holding on no matter what happens.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to use the domestic intelligence service Shin Bet to monitor political opponents. This is stated by Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar in a written statement.
Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that Bar’s letter is “full of lies”.”

  7. It can’t possibly be that simple, that Trump is currying favor with Putin to get another Trump Tower, can it?
Can he really be bought so easily?
Regardless, it’s interesting to see what the Russians are willing to do to strengthen their positions.

“The political leadership in Russia has discussed giving Donald Trump the opportunity to revive plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, sources tell the independent Russian newspaper Moscow Times.
After Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, the Kremlin instructed its officials to analyze how relations between Russia and the USA could be repaired. One proposal was to revive the skyscraper plans.”

  8. “Japanska investerare sålde av mer än 20 miljarder dollar i internationella obligationer när Donald Trumps tullar skakade marknaderna tidigare denna månad, – FT ❗️Japan håller 1,1 biljoner dollar i amerikanska skuldebrev över offentliga och privata sektorer!”

  9. Trump is investigating, as we have previously written, whether he can dismiss Fed chief Jerome Powell, but in that matter, he doesn’t even seem to have a majority of Republicans on his side.

“The Fed must remain independent,” Republican Frank Lucas reiterates in an interview with Axios. He leads Congress’s working group on the central bank and tells the news site that both parties support the Fed’s independence.
“I have great confidence in President Trump, but he will not be president forever, and we must act for the future.”
    https://omni.se/republikanen-han-kommer-inte-vara-president-for-alltid/a/jQj0mn

    1. Westley Richard

We might as well have a vote and decide who gets fired first, there are many candidates besides Powell.
      Hegseth
      Rubio
      Bessent
      Lutnik
      Waltz
      Musk

    2. IF he were to have honest intentions, closing the FED would be a big deal.

It’s the fraud of the century.

      BUT I don’t think he does 😁

  10. Don’t believe that it was only aimed at Trump but the US believing population. It spread well also images from some Russian Easter fair. All to make the Russians appear as believers, peaceful people.

“The 30-hour long ”Easter ceasefire” declared by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine was a PR stunt with Donald Trump as the intended recipient. This is what France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in an interview with France Info, according to Reuters.”
    https://omni.se/frankrike-putins-paskpaus-var-skadespel-for-trump/a/93Apql

  11. Some numbers, but maybe a bit early to report, seems quite volatile so far today.
    USD -> Ruble, 81.5 (0.40%)
    USD -> Euro, 0.869 (+10%)
    Yuan -> Ruble, 11.17 (0.37%)
USD -> Yen, 7.3 (0%) Doesn’t seem to have opened.

    Crude Oil, 63.37 (+1.54%)
Unfortunately, it continues to rise from the bottom at ~59.5.

  12. Luxembourg and Iceland donated equipment worth almost €2 million to Ukraine:
    🔹 3,288 access points of various models;
    🔹 500 routers;
    🔹 460 charging stations with solar panels;
    🔹 872 phones.

  13. Congratulations to those of you who invested in gold at the beginning of the war!

“Gold extended a blistering rally to rise above $3,500 an ounce for the first time, as concern that Trump could fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell triggered a flight from US stocks, bonds and the dollar, – Bloomberg”

  14. “In the Kharkiv region, near Kupiansk, soldiers of 2nd Operational Battalion captured an enemy infantry group attempting to gain a foothold in their area of responsibility.”

Picture of six prisoners of war.

  15. Probably an effect of Trump’s approach to Russia.

“On Russian Telegram: Zara planning a comeback, as expected. Zara, Bershka, and Stradivarius may return to Yekaterinburg in nine months, Mash writes. Inditex purchased 30% more goods than usual, with an eye on the Russian market, after reducing purchases by a third after 2022.”

  16. “Putin suggests Russia open to direct talks with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled he is open to bilateral talks with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky for the first time since the early stages of the war.

Speaking to Russian state TV on Monday, Putin said Russia has “always looked positively on any peace initiatives. We hope that representatives of the Kyiv regime will feel the same way”.”

    1. Well, now it’s possible to talk to the illegitimate Zelensky. Previously, he has been ignored by Putin. Putin sees and feels that the cat is starting to smell. Declining resources on the battlefield, a declining economy at home, declining production resources. And now Ukraine has started to get its F-16s up and running. It doesn’t look good for the Russians. Putin is starting to become humble. But can 20% of Ukraine really be an acceptable outcome? Which Russians will live in the new Russian Bakhmut?

      1. Speculative of course:

I suspect that Trump’s peace proposal is completely in line with Putin’s agenda. Putin’s statement that he is now ready to talk to Zelenskyy is just a show for the public to make him appear as someone who wants peace.

When Zelenskyy cannot accept the conditions, everything can then be blamed on him and Ukraine as “unreasonable warmongers”.

Then it becomes easier for Trump to put pressure on Ukraine to force them to accept the agreement and also to strengthen ties with Russia “Russia and Putin really want peace and an end to the war, they are not our enemies so we should cooperate with them.”

Putin probably just wants to push through the agreement and is of course playing along so that it will eventually happen.

        1. Yes, we’ll see if there is any substance to the claim that UA is prepared to de facto relinquish about 20% of its territory. See above. But I believe UA considers themselves to have momentum right now and that RU is hanging by a thread, to use a boxing term. Fight on, Ukraine!

          1. I myself find it very difficult to believe in those rumors. In that case, Zelenskyy’s trust in Europe must be really low, or Trump has already conveyed threats to Zelenskyy about how he will act if Ukraine does not sign.

  17. Of course one wants it to go faster, but what do you think? Would a coordinator help?
Perhaps it could be the opposite, that it means an additional instance that everything has to go through, only causing it to take even more time?

“The Social Democrats do not think that Sweden is building up its stocks of defense material fast enough. To address this, the party wants a special coordinator to be appointed, reports TT.”
    https://omni.se/s-vill-ha-samordnare-for-inkop-av-krigsmateriel/a/B0Xxq0

    1. Nah. The government has the ministerial council at its disposal. If progress is slower than desired, I believe the government has the tools to identify deficiencies and address them. Coordinator is probably more of a political move than something that would create momentum.

    2. Westley Richard

      Political statement to be visible.
The day before yesterday, one wouldn’t buy anything.
Yesterday, it was decided that one would buy.
      Today, one hasn’t bought enough.
Tomorrow, one has bought too much.

      1. It seems to constantly be the role of the opposition to complain about everything instead of coming up with constructive suggestions 😂

Although this time it was of course a suggestion, then the question is how constructive it was.

    3. As both Lynx and Westley are suggesting, I suspect the same thing, that it’s a political move and that it wouldn’t add anything.

    4. It is extremely much from the opposition now.

My top lid went for “we should have Europe’s lowest energy prices.”

The combination of that and decommissioned nuclear power they skipped.

      1. There was a discussion on Studio 1 with Hallengren and someone from the government regarding criminals exploiting personal assistance. Hallengren said it was a failure of private healthcare, etc. blah blah blaaa.
When she was then asked what should be done, there was not a word about banning private healthcare, but rather tightening controls.

The Social Democrats had 8 years to ban it, but they know it would have made the voters turn on their heels.

        Hypocrisy!

Just like the above proposal, all hot air.

  18. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “black widows” have simultaneously allied themselves with the officers who ensure that those who survive a couple of visits to the front are forced into direct combat attacks?

Perhaps that’s why we see soldiers crawling or jumping forward with crutches at the front?
They have a “black widow” and an officer waiting for their bonus payment?

“Outraged patriotic bloggers and the tabloid press in Russia are warning the country’s soldiers about scams from so-called “black widows” — women who seduce and lure the fighters into marriage so they can collect their death benefits if they are killed fighting in Ukraine.”
    https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-black-widows-scam-soldiers-death-benefits/33390012.html

  19. Russia intensifies push in Kursk, Sumy border areas as Ukraine holds line, Syrskyi says. “Intense fighting continues in Sumy Oblast in areas near the state border, as well as on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi wrote.

Sumy Oblast, in northeastern Ukraine, borders Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorodoblasts, making it a critical front line in Russia’s full-scale war.

Syrskyi said that Ukrainian forces “have once again thwarted the enemy’s offensive in this area with their active actions,” preventing Russian troops from executing their operational objectives.

    https://kyivindependent.com/russia-steps-up-assault-on-sumy-oblast-kursk-border-as-ukraine-holds-line-syrskyi-says

  20. Russia using Easter ceasefire to prepare assault in Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian military says. Ukrainian units in the Kharkiv Oblast have maintained a strictly defensive posture, responding only to direct Russian attacks to defend troops and hold the line, according to the Khartiia Brigade.

Russia “is actively using the so-called Easter truce to amass personnel,” the brigade’s press service said.

“There is a very high likelihood they plan to use this pause as a pretext to resume active offensive operations.”

    https://kyivindependent.com/russia-using-easter-ceasefire-to-prepare-assault-near-kharkiv-khartia-brigade-says

    1. It can be added that Sweden had a number of large mountain facilities for the production of explosives and ammunition until the turn of the millennium. Of course, the facilities were state-owned. The last ones were dismantled around 2010. One of the facilities (Jämtland) is now a ski tunnel.

So it is possible if one wants to. But one probably has to abandon the idea that these facilities will arise through some kind of private market actors taking action and building huge mountain chambers for production and storage. The state probably needs to pay for the investments and operations.

      1. Yes, preferably that, as those who least need it probably don’t have to place substantial orders over several years so that the investor knows it will pay off.

  21. “Russian drone strike on Kherson during funeral injures 4, damages hospital. A Russian drone attack on a funeral procession in the Kherson city center around noon on April 22 injured four people and damaged a hospital, local authorities said.”
    https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lnfizh6ll22h

“Terror in Kharkiv today: At least 12 strikes by Russia hit 4 districts of the city. 3 people are reported injured so far, according to the mayor.”
    https://bsky.app/profile/noelreports.com/post/3lnfjcgtbes22

  22. “A representative of Hamas tells AFP that the group has sent a delegation to Cairo where new talks about a possible ceasefire in the Gaza war are ongoing. According to the source, ‘new ideas’ to reach an agreement are on the table.

BBC reports, citing sources, that mediators have presented a framework for a ceasefire extending five to seven years ahead.”

  23. “It is not worth setting a tight timeframe for when Russia and Ukraine can agree on a ceasefire, says Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

On Wednesday, representatives from Ukraine, Europe, and the USA are set to meet in London to try to find a proposal that can be presented to Russia.”

  24. “Sweden, Lithuania, Finland, and Norway plan to jointly procure “several hundred” Combat Vehicles 90, internationally known as CV90.

    – The joint procurement will accelerate deliveries, reduce costs, and benefit our defense industrial ties,” says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) at a press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas.”
    https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/nordisk-baltiskt-kop-av-flera-hundra-stridsfordon

  25. Vietnam has apparently managed to negotiate with the USA.

    -F-16 and some other things.

    -something else, like Starlink.

    -Trump resort.

      1. Yes, seems to be a large depot.
The Russians deny that it was an attack, blaming a fire that occurred because safety instructions were violated.
So now we know it was an attack! 😂

    1. Then they better hurry up 😂😂

Joking aside – this is coordinated with Trump unfortunately and probably gives Putin the stability he needs in Russia 😶

  26. “En elitrysk militärenhet rusar nu i full fart framåt för att inta ukrainska positioner. Och kryckorna? De är bara till för att dölja deras spår — inget annat.”

    1. I believe and hope!
If Trump’s patience runs out and he starts backing away from the so-called peace negotiations, blaming everything on Ukr, they don’t need to hold back any longer.

  27. The USA will soon compete with Russia over whose economy will crash first.

“The risk of the USA entering a recession this year is now 40-45 percent, according to Citis chief economist Nathan Sheets, as reported by Reuters. The reason is that the economy will be affected by Donald Trump’s tariffs.”
    https://omni.se/a/KMALzX

        1. He has made his initial move. It probably didn’t turn out so well. He is so American. Thinks he can fix everything with optimism. Nothing is impossible, like. To ally with Putin and try to take over Ukraine was a major misjudgment. I think he is probably a nice person but has poor judgment when it comes to foreign policy.

    1. He is probably sitting there, devising a dreadful revenge on Powell, who is disloyal and out of his reach. He didn’t manage to drive the dollar down enough with the tariffs, so now he’s trying with the central bank. If he manages to put it under his command, there will probably be trouble.

  28. Regarding the arsenals, well, 12 are empty, right?

One had collected in the remaining 8 or whatever it is, and 3-4 are now blown away.

    Large quantities of ammunition disappearing…

    1. Fram i Natten

And some staff you can trust ☠️

Well. Nothing to see. Just a regular grass fire.

A bit fun to cancel the fireworks and instead beat the big drum.

Vomit next. Practice for the parade??

      🛩️ 💥🔥☠️☠️☠️

        1. Strange that it works as it should for me, but I’ll have to see if there’s anything that can be done.
Swish themselves are a bit bad at explaining how the link should be structured.

      1. Received a message about an incorrect link in the Swish app yesterday. Now I’m trying again and this time I got a message that Swish isn’t working with my bank due to technical issues, so the link is okay. I’ll try again later.

    1. I have tried to simplify the link now.
I have tested that it works on Android and iPhone but it might still be problematic for others.

Appreciative of feedback in that case!

    1. That’s exactly what it is, and apparently Europe is involved because we’re talking about a peacekeeping force.

Ukraine says they’re not giving up land, but de facto that’s what’s happening.

If we end up here, Europe’s security in the vicinity will be significantly worse.

    2. But damn, how bad, like giving a morning-after pill and a patch to a battered rape victim and saying we turn the page and forget about this.

  29. Trump lowers tariffs against China without having talked to China – interesting move.

Showing weakness towards China is probably not a very smart move.

  30. Excuse me if this is a bit off topic. I’m trying to organize my thoughts on what is happening in society, both in Sweden and the EU. A good way for me to do this is to write, so I apologize for using this forum again.
Because in society today, completely insane decisions are being made, but why?
I watched a documentary about how a Farawayland country invested hundreds of millions to influence decisions in the EU. If they are willing to do that, how much money are countries like Russia, China, and Iran investing, just to give a few examples? 100 million in the bank account of an EU politician is peanuts in this context. Paying 20 politicians the same amount to push an agenda is still a small sum.
No, I don’t think the EU is completely corrupt; the fact that they haven’t gone full Trump regarding Ukraine is evidence that the EU construction, which can be likened to a dam, still holds but is under significant pressure.
So, what has happened and is happening? Europe’s enemies are looking for cracks to exploit. They gladly delve into issues that are important to a minority of the population. People who are more emotionally driven tend to engage in such issues out of pure reflex.
The media largely consists of emotionally driven individuals, which is why the media attention has an impact, further widening the cracks in society.
It’s good that there are emotionally driven people; I believe that a society governed solely by number-crunchers would also be a disaster. A mix is best.
When Swedish emotional officials interpret EU texts like a fan interprets the Bible, I too have thought about Swexit, but that’s exactly the intention behind the actions.
Look at it this way. Out on the plain, a herd is being chased by wolves. Together, the herd is strong, so the wolves have two options. They can either split the herd (EU) or drive it to a cliff where the herd falls (regulations and laws).
    Regardless, the wolves win.
The EU construction must be strengthened with the above in mind and quickly, or the wolves will have a feast.
