The war in Ukraine 2025-06-27

Unusually low Russian losses despite the reported numbers being approximately at normal levels. *)
Are the Russians attacking more frequently but with fewer soldiers, making it harder for Ukraine to counter the attacks? Or is Ukraine up to something and underreporting to avoid giving out unnecessary information? Or is the reporting simply delayed? We will see if this is followed by continued low losses, or if the numbers start to rise again.

  1. Is there still a delay? Very clever play by Ukraine as usual and stupid massive suicide attacks by the Z Nazis!
All these vehicles, train sets with important supplies being taken out should mean problems for the regular soldier to get supplies and ammunition, right?
Drug-influenced fighting spirit does not lead to smart fighting units, does it?

    2. Pokrovsk direction 22:00 26/6 2025

Operational information as of 22:00 on 26 June 2025 regarding the Russian invasion

Since the beginning of this day, the Russians have attempted to break through our defences 39 times in the Pokrovsk direction in the areas of the settlements of Poltavka, Malynivka, Shevchenko Pershe, Myrne, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novomykolaivka, Kotlyarivka, Myrnohrad, Novoserhiivka, Udachne, Oleksiivka, Novoukrainka, and in the direction of Volodymyrivka. Fighting continues in six locations.

Defence forces are holding back enemy assaults, and the enemy is suffering significant losses. Today, 148 occupiers were neutralised in this direction, 80 of them irrevocably. Two vehicles, seven motorcycles, one howitzer, three unmanned aerial vehicles, a satellite communication terminal, and a UAV control point were also destroyed, and an enemy cannon was damaged.

    3. Yesterday, there were nine attacks by the invaders in the Kupiansk direction. Our defenders repelled enemy assaults near Golubivka, Kindrashivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Zelenyi Hai, and in the directions of Petropavlivka and Nova Kruhlyakivka.

Combat engagements in Kupyansk since mid-April

Losses reported by the 43rd Mechanized Brigade, located in Kupyansk. A bit low for nine battles…

  3. I have been warned about this before, but here is another one:

“Russia is preparing to attack in the Zaporizhia direction in the coming days: the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation Andryushchenko reports on the large-scale movement of enemy equipment and ammunition About 7 platforms with armored vehicles, including tanks and 40”

    1. They have read the blog and understood that the rest of Europe / NATO is at war with Russia before we are too far into the autumn (Zapad 25). This is when Russia attacks in southeastern Baltics. Where all trade with Russia is still stopped.

  4. It was already released yesterday, but now it has been confirmed (even though nothing is signed yet).

“Peru wants to buy Jas Gripen planes. This is confirmed by Saab’s press officer Mattias Rådström to Direkt, but emphasizes that no contract has been signed or any order finalized.

    – This is of course positive for Saab. We have been working on a deal with Peru, which has shown interest in Gripen, says Rådström without going into details.

Ekot reported this morning that Peru has shown interest in buying 24 Jas Gripen planes. The deal is valued at over 33 billion Swedish kronor and is expected to be completed in July.”

  5. 50 miles and we’ll reach Russia. Would have liked to see another 10 miles in range, guessing it’s HIMARS + PrSM they’re based on.

“The Swedish defense is in the process of buying long-range weapons that can reach targets inside Russia, writes TT.
Exactly which weapons will be purchased is not set in stone, but one of the systems the defense is looking at is the American Himars. The new range will be between 15 and 50 miles. Today, Sweden has weapon systems that reach up to five miles.”
    https://omni.se/sverige-koper-vapen-som-kan-na-mal-inne-i-ryssland/a/4BaLeE

      1. They are perhaps looking for something mobile like HIMARS, and who knows if there is any ammunition that reaches further?

A white paper probably needs to be written due to the lack of defense investments for several decades?
All parties become more or less involved.. 😀

      2. We should have a layered defense, right? A hard-to-penetrate outer shell and no regiments or deep defense. 5 miles would probably be enough as they thought back then.

    1. In a TT article, the Supreme Commander says that the system will not necessarily be placed in Sweden; Finland and the Baltics are mentioned as alternatives.

  6. Step by step, Ukraine is approaching EU membership.
“The European Commission supports the opening of the first cluster of negotiations between Ukraine and the EU. Kyiv has fulfilled its task – now we must act too, — Ursula von der Leyen”

    1. Is Almedalen really relevant today?

Seems to have become a meeting point for politicians, lobbyists, and C-list celebrities.

A rosé club for mutual admiration.

    2. The last time I saw something from there was when LW shared a picture of some participants’ shoes, that might say something about the level?

Otherwise, a panel debate has been held, organized by the Ukrainian hub.
Since some of you seem to have aversions to the blog devil, I better warn you, LW is participating.

I haven’t actually bothered to listen to any politicians, I have no idea what they may have said or not said about Ukraine.

Shoes? He might be just like a guide I had in Botswana, he carefully examined our shoes and when a Leopard glared at us a bit angrily, he said “I have faster shoes than you” 🤣

  7. Ukraine, as usual, has big plans to reclaim the country – is there anything urgent happening there this year?

Assuming they stop listening to Trump.

  8. ⚡ 365 TARGETS NEUTRALISED ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ On the night of 27 June (from 20:30 on 26 June), the enemy attacked with 371 air strikes:

    – 363 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of dummy drones from the directions of Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation (more than 200 of them were Shaheds); – 2 Kh-47 M2 “Kinzhal” aeroballistic missiles from the Ryazan region – Russian Federation; – 6 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea.

❗️The main target of the strike was the city of Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region!

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

💥 According to preliminary data, as of 09:30, air defence forces destroyed 365 enemy air attack vehicles – 217 were shot down by firepower, 148 were lost due to location:

    – 211 enemy Shahed-type UAVs (other types of drones) were shot down, 148 were lost/suppressed by electronic warfare; – 6 Kalibr cruise missiles were shot down.

Direct hits by enemy air attack weapons were recorded in 3 locations, as well as the fall of shot down weapons (debris) in 8 locations.

  9. Mr. Musk is having a tough time, as reported by Dagens Industri.

Furthermore, Reuters notes that Tesla’s share of the Chinese electric car market has dropped from a peak of 15 percent in 2020 to 10 percent last year, and further to 7.6 percent during the first months of 2025.

    1. Westley Richard

All foreign car brands suffer from the fact that the Chinese regime subsidizes domestic production. Car prices have plummeted in China. Western car brands face a huge challenge.

      1. Even internally, they have problems with price pressure from, among others, BYD, we will see how Xi handles this, the car manufacturer’s Evergrande.

The Social Democrats are selling their criticized lottery business, writes SvD. The reason is said to be that it is no longer economically sustainable. The Social Democrats confirm the information to TT. Since revelations about the party’s activities and the subsequent criticism, the government has tightened the rules for political parties to sell lotteries – something that has dealt a severe blow to the Social Democrats. From January 1st, they will be subject to a 22 percent gaming tax on their turnover and have therefore concluded that the business is no longer profitable, according to information provided to SvD. It will be sold on Friday.

    https://omni.se/a/zAo8yw

It will be interesting to see who the buyer will be.

Will it be a related company to the Social Democrats that buys it, will it be the gang criminals who handled the sales that are the buyers, or will it be some legitimate business?

We will get the answer today.

  11. I believe that it is no longer profitable when you can’t continue deceiving your customers…

“The Social Democrats are selling their criticized lottery business, writes SvD. The reason is said to be that it is no longer economically sustainable.

    1. Wasn’t it tough to pay taxes?

      Reality vs. posing.

Like when Magda gets grumpy about whether she should move from Nacka to Rinkeby a little tipsy

      1. We establish rules for everyone who wants to conduct lottery operations except for ourselves.
When we then get caught doing shady things and have to adapt to reality, we have such a damn bad business plan that we have to shut down.

And then there’s Budin, this pompous fool and numbskull, feeling sorry for S and everyone else is undemocratic?

        Damn the hypocrisy!

  12. Sweden
We can’t afford to shut down? But isn’t it precisely because one can’t afford it that one shuts down?
Granted, she also wants to contribute with money, but if one does that, then one wouldn’t have to shut down either, and then no stop law would be needed.
Sounds like early campaign promises, but we’ll see, the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats might join in.

“Ebba Busch wants to put a stop to healthcare closures with a so-called stop law. The party leader writes about this in Aftonbladet Debatt.

She writes that the regions are “dismantling hospitals and healthcare”. A stop law would have prevented 21 regions from closing hospitals and healthcare facilities that are needed from a national perspective, Busch writes.
    – We can’t afford to shut down healthcare in a situation where too many people have to wait too long for care and we have a serious security situation, says Ebba Busch to SVT before the Christian Democrats’ half-day event starts in Almedalen.
She says that the state should be able to provide more funding to the regions to avoid closures.”

    https://omni.se/ebba-busch-lag-ska-stoppa-vardnedlaggningar/a/1MaVWB

    1. Westley Richard

Ebba wants to shut down the regions instead of healthcare. There is probably a lot to gain from it at the same time as all healthcare cannot be administered from Stockholm.

  13. Sweden
She actually has a point, if you nationalize it, criminals cannot run the operations and make profits. Of course, they can find other ways to infiltrate. The risk, of course, is that the costs will escalate if nationalized, making it more expensive than what the criminals are grabbing, but maybe that’s a price worth paying to ensure the money doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. Besides criminals, for example, the HVB industry has also received a lot of criticism for poor quality and for mainly focusing on maximizing profits.
Nationalization might be a way to provide better protection for those in need (although it’s not a guarantee either).

“Dadgostar: “Welfare has become arenas for crime” – wants to nationalize operations

The Left Party kicks off its half-day during Almedalen Week by presenting a political news.

    – Welfare has become an arena for crime, and it is a betrayal of those who trust society. The government is unable to fulfill the mission of kicking out the criminals from the operations, says party leader Nooshi Dadgostar at a press conference.

She now says that the Left Party wants to stop new establishments and acquisitions of sensitive operations targeted by criminal actors. ”

Failure with our most vulnerable elderly and young

    1. Westley Richard

As soon as there is money being handed out so that politicians can avoid taking responsibility or to numb their conscience, there are criminals who steal it.

Completely convinced that we have the same problem in the green transition as well as in all aid both within and outside the country that is being distributed.

Politicians and authorities are too bad at setting requirements and just want to get rid of it.

Now there are new laws about caring for the young and everyone must apply for permits, we hope they have learned their lesson about who should not be allowed to operate.

      1. The problem is that one is constantly too trusting.
“That can probably be handled by the market. No, are they just after profits? Wait, have criminals taken over?”

One is so eager to privatize and avoid responsibility (as you are into) and one believes that the market will self-regulate.

One completely misses doing any form of SWOT analysis or risk assessment before making decisions.

    2. But it’s not privatized because it’s funded by tax money.

Not controlling it is IDIOCY but that’s how we’ve had it.

Criminals have infiltrated the entire civil society, by the way, I don’t believe nationalization will solve the problem we have today.

My thought is to review the tax deduction so it is sufficient for the core mission – that way, at least, the amount of money that can be embezzled is reduced.

Clearly, there is a surplus today since hundreds of billions disappear.

    3. To nationalize private businesses sounds like Russia.

Better controls, strict requirements for reinvestment in operations, veto for establishment in municipalities, and harsh penalties for those who do not comply.

Or we could ban all private involvement in the public sector. But then we should probably investigate all procurement that takes place regarding everything that is supposed to fill the school, healthcare, and care facilities.

      An example.
According to Widar Andersson, there are about 100 schools in this country that do not meet the standards and should be shut down. Approximately 30% are private. The Social Democrats know this! Chew on that……

  14. 15 soldiers in the ‘elite’ Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) surrendered to Ukraine after their unit was wiped out in their failed invasion of Sumy region. Russia’s large scale 2025 Summer Offensive on Sumy has failed so far.

  15. More long-distance attacks.

    🇺🇦🇸🇪

🇺🇦MoD Rustem Umerov: There will be more long-distance operations

Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov at the international defense industry forum in Kiev, October 1, 2024.

About two weeks ago, the decision was made to increase the number of long-distance operations several times over.

This was announced by Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov the day before during a meeting with journalists, as reported by a correspondent for Suspilne.

According to Umerov, the contracting of tens of thousands of new long-distance drones is already being prepared to increase the intensity and scope of the attacks.

The minister stated that last year Ukraine developed a plan for systematic long-distance operations and contracted several tens of thousands of long-distance drones (deepstrike), which made it possible to regularly carry out high-precision attacks on critical targets deep inside enemy territory.

All drone deliveries are made according to schedule, and the operations are carried out daily according to approved plans, he explained.

Ukrainian UAVs have caused Russia more than 10 billion dollars in damages since the beginning of the year – Syrsky

As Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky previously told journalists, Ukraine’s defense forces’ drone forces, together with other units, attacked a number of targets deep inside Russia between January and May 2025. According to preliminary estimates, Russia’s total losses as a result of these attacks exceeded 10 billion dollars.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the effectiveness of the DeepStrike operations is estimated at 1 to 15, meaning that for every dollar spent, approximately 15 dollars in losses are incurred by Russia.

On a makeshift patio right next to the harbor pool in Visby, Vladyslav and Malik are sitting. Neither I nor anyone else in Almedalen can fully understand the extent of what they have experienced and been subjected to. After an hour of conversation, I ask them if I can try to convey what they have told me, and they answer affirmatively.

“It’s why we have come here, to let the world know what we have been through,” they both say.

What they have come to Almedalen to talk about is their time as Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia. For two and two and a half years, respectively, they had to endure what would make every circle in Dante’s hell seem like a vacation. Malik begins.

“We were woken up at 6 am every morning. The day started with us being beaten with sticks all over our bodies, then we were forced back into the cell. Eight to ten people in each cell, monitored by a camera. From six in the morning, we were then forced to stand in an individual position completely still until ten in the evening. No one could move, no one could talk, no one could do anything. If a single person moved, stumbled, or in any way deviated, the door would open and everyone in the cell would be taken out for collective punishment. We received electric shocks and were beaten all over our bodies.”

When I ask how it is even physically possible to stand upright in the exact same position day in and day out, Malik answers:

“When you have experienced being first drenched and then attacked with a live current rod plugged into the wall socket, you will stand up until it’s the last thing you do. Some died, some lost their minds.”

Those who went crazy, as Malik puts it, disappeared. He continues:

“Russia will never send them back; they never want to show what has happened to these people.”

For two and a half years, this was every day in Malik’s life.

“They told us that Ukraine no longer existed, that the country had fallen, and that we would never be able to return. New prisoners of war were carefully placed in other locations to prevent them from providing updates on the situation in Ukraine. But one day, a recently captured Ukrainian soldier was mistakenly placed in their cell, who could tell the truth about what was really going on. Free Ukraine still existed very much, and Russia had been pushed back at the beginning of the war. It gave strength to continue enduring,” Malik concludes.

Vladyslav was placed in another prison and another hell. Here, the prisoners were forced to do hard labor, but given almost nothing to eat.

“We ate mice that we could find and catch, we ate soap, we ate everything we could get our hands on.”

I ask if they didn’t receive any food.

“Well, sometimes, but in small rations and food prepared in a way that made it almost inedible. We were abused daily; they sent their guard dogs to bite us. Sometimes they forced us into a small drying cabinet. Five people at a time were tightly packed into a drying cabinet, then they closed the door and turned on the heat until we almost lost consciousness. That’s how it went, day after day,” Vladyslav recounts.

When he was exchanged two years later, he had lost 60 kilos in weight, and half of the fellow prisoners returned with him had contracted tuberculosis.

The rest of us visitors in Almedalen will never fully comprehend what these two out of thousands of young men with similar experiences have endured in Russia. But we all have a duty not to turn a blind eye to what has happened and to understand what is at stake. This is how Russia treats what is usually described as a brotherly people. This is how Russia treats prisoners of war who, on paper, are protected by international law.

At the same time, in what sometimes feels like a parallel universe that we could call the Swedish administrative apparatus, we are still scratching our heads about questions regarding which officials in various government agencies’ personnel should, or should not, have combatant status according to international law. I’m not saying this to argue that international law is unimportant; quite the opposite. But it is evident that our categorizations would have very little significance for the assessments Russia makes in this regard because they blatantly disregard the entire concept of international law.

We need to focus on strengthening our capabilities in total defense because deterrence is what protects us from this insane barbarism. We do not seek conflict, but we will never accept being subjected to pressure or acts of war. We need to continue supporting Ukraine, both militarily and civilly. We need to help those who have been subjected to these horrors, and we must understand that what we are currently building in Sweden aims to protect us from this type of incomprehensible abuse.

Thanks to the Ukrainian hub in Almedalen for organizing this meeting, and thanks to Malik and Vladyslav for mustering the strength to tell the world. In the exhibition “Do not forget” at the Ukrainian hub in Almedalen, the brutal truth is displayed, including images of Ukrainians subjected to ruthless Russian torture.

    1. Herregud 😳

And he has still been among those who have been lucky as prisoners of war and can consider themselves fortunate.

This has been allowed to go on for far too long 😡

    2. Although I use Facebook daily, it’s just to check AFU’s latest reports and nothing else. Shared Bohlin’s post in my feed as soon as I saw it.

Got only one reaction. Don’t know if I should interpret it as no one reads what I write, or that none of my “friends” care about Ukraine. 🤔

    3. Russian bastards. 😡

Malicious parasites who thrive on sucking the joy and lust for life out of normal people.

There are probably people in Russia who are something we would call civilized, but the decay comes from the top.

They do not understand that for every prisoner tortured and every new war crime they commit, they themselves take one step closer to the edge, the fall will be hard.

    1. Those didn’t look like regular Palestinian demonstrators, almost all dressed the same way and well coordinated. No Palestinian scarves or flags, just a sign. Hope they managed to arrest some of them.

        1. There they look more like they usually do.

But it is weapons to Israel they were trying to stop, not to Ukraine.

Regardless, those who destroyed equipment should be put in prison.

          1. Westley Richard

The company does not deliver any weapons to Israel and has not done so for twenty years, they do not have a license to sell weapons to Israel, however, they have delivered a number of hundred vehicles to Ukraine which is now halted until everything is repaired.

            1. OIP Systems is owned by Israeli Elbit Systems so it’s not surprising that they attacked them without knowing who they were supplying to?

It’s not easy to find information about which countries they supply to, except that the CEO has now, after the attack, stated that they do not supply to Israel.

  23. The threats against Jewish targets in Sweden have increased significantly in recent days, according to information provided to Expressen. Among other things, the police have strengthened surveillance around the Israeli embassy.

According to the newspaper, the background is intelligence information indicating that Iran is trying to recruit Swedish gang criminals to carry out drone attacks against Israeli and Jewish interests.

    1. It’s time to stop being such damn cowards in this country.

If anything happens, it should be considered terrorism and heavily armed soldiers should be deployed. Shoot the bastards off our streets!

Then we turn a blind eye as the USA goes all in and sends the turban mafia to her hellish afterparty!

      What damn pigs they are!

  24. Israeli soldiers are ordered to shoot live ammunition at Palestinians queuing for emergency aid, even if they do not pose any threat. Several soldiers tell Haaretz about this.

The emergency aid stations are only open for one hour a day, and the soldiers are ordered to shoot if anyone starts queuing too early or is on the premises after closing.

“They are treated as hostile forces. There are no measures taken to control crowds, no tear gas. Just live fire with everything you can imagine,” says one soldier.

Another person describes it as the Israeli army’s ethical codes having “completely collapsed.”

  25. “Three people have been killed and 14 injured after a Russian drone attack on the city of Samar in the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine, according to a local governor as reported by several news agencies.

Recently, Russia has escalated its attacks on the area, resulting in more and more casualties, writes AFP. This is seen as a sign that Russian forces, for the first time since the full-scale invasion, are trying to establish a foothold in the city.”

  29. It is described as the “engine” of the US economy, and now it is declining. The country’s important consumption is decreasing for the first time since January, CNN reports. With inflation included, US consumption fell by 0.3 percent in May. If inflation is not taken into account, the decline was 0.1 percent in May. The drop may be considered marginal, but due to the great concern for a recession in the US, the market takes even small decreases very seriously. The country’s domestic consumption is crucial for the economy.

This can be compared to an increase in consumption in the US of 0.2 percent in April.
