Even tonight Ukraine attacked, but not as intensely as yesterday. It’s still early so we probably have to wait a few hours before more detailed reports come. Here are some posts from tonight.
“Area just south of Odesa is being heavily attacked right now. From Lymanka south, through to Chornomorsk, the drone swarm attack is underway. Explosions are heard.”

Near Odesa, locals film smoke and complain of the fumes of what they say is likely paints burning. This is exactly where I said the previous attack was taking place – in the Sovinʹyon (Sauvignon) district, south of the city.

“Sloviansk in free Donetsk has also been hit tonight. Russian drones attacked the city. There were probably 4 hits, no official news yet,”

Time to forgive Russia? Is he completely crazy?
“Slovak FM suggests forgiveness for Russia, calls for dialogue to end Ukraine war. “Let us return to respect for international law and seek ways to communicate with the Russian Federation,” Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said on June 29.”
https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lss2l5wdys2h
The question is whether Fico believes in religious forgiveness or if he is a charlatan. Slovakia is a strong society where religion has gained greater importance after the fall of communism, which Fico has taken advantage of in his campaigns where he has portrayed that he was raised in a strict Catholic home. This has not been able to be verified, however, it is verified that Fico stated he was an atheist when he applied for membership in the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia in 1980.
So, Fico is an old pro-Russian communist who jumped from one extreme to the other on the political horseshoe.
We should start delivering consequences to Hungary and Slovakia.
They are directly EU-hostile and have sabotaged everything around UA an entire war.
I think Putin has counted on greater consequences than this by now.
“According to intercepted communication between high-ranking officials in Iran, the American attacks last weekend seem to have been less devastating than expected. This is reported by four sources with insight into the American administration to the Washington Post.
The conversation that the USA has obtained was intended to be private. Several Iranian government officials speculated on why the American attack was not as extensive as they had anticipated beforehand, according to the information.”
Notoriously difficult with “anonymous source in the Pentagon”
But yes – Trump wants to shine and always lies if necessary.
“Donald Trump is considering forcing the journalists who reported on leaked intelligence information regarding the US attacks on Iran to reveal their sources. This is reported by The Guardian.
Donald Trump has called the reporting false and unpatriotic.
“You go up to the reporter and say: This concerns national security – who gave you the information? That’s how it has to be done. And I think we will do that,” he writes on Truth Social, according to The Guardian.”
Maybe one should only report on things that the administration has approved in advance?
It would be easier that way, I think?
You can’t be a dictator if you don’t control the media, so this is a step in the process.
Canada withdraws digital tax on American companies. This is to reach a trade agreement with the USA, several news media report.
Canada’s Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne stated in a release that Canada is lifting the digital service tax to achieve a “mutually beneficial trade agreement with the USA.”
It is also stated that Trump and Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney “have agreed to resume negotiations with the aim of reaching a settlement by July 21, 2025.”
“NATO’s Article 5 is not open to interpretation. That’s what Sweden’s Supreme Commander Michael Claesson tells GP after Donald Trump, ahead of the summit in The Hague, said that it can be defined in different ways.
Claesson says that there is no ambiguity, and that Article 5 means that an attack on a member state should be seen as an attack on all. When asked if Trump’s statement could be exploited by, for example, Russia, he responds:
– Yes, to a very high degree.
In connection with the statement, Trump said that he would provide “an exact definition” of what Article 5 means at the meeting, but it never happened.”
USA does whatever they want anyway
Yes, that’s of course BUT it’s still damn stupid to sow doubt, there are more member countries and for example if your prophecy is fulfilled and the Russians test article 5 in connection with Zapad 2025, it would be sad if everyone just picked their navels and looked in another direction, because according to Trump, you can interpret it as you wish.
Jo Trump’s statements are well timed for the balt-attack 🧐
He gives an unclear answer, as usual.
I don’t think he will let the USA respond to article 5 if it doesn’t benefit his interests. So in the Baltics, I don’t think there will be any American boots on the ground, possibly they could extend to intelligence, maybe some air support..
If Russia were to attack England, then maybe the USA would come to the rescue, or Hungary and Slovakia. The rest of Europe, I don’t think he cares that much about. The EU is a competitor, so in his world, it wouldn’t be a disadvantage if we were to have some problems.
But what happens if a country, for example, does not comply with Article 3?
The phrase “one for all” is often forgotten in the expression “one for all, all for one,” and that is probably what the USA has been complaining about for at least a couple of decades now.
Ps, alternatively, “one for all” can be interpreted as “USA for all”…
What happens if there are little green men then like during the Crimea annexation?

then we in the West are waiting for more information, just like the TV/streaming series “Conflict” now on TV.

MXT: When logging in, it would be nice to end up where you were on the page. Now you end up at the top and have to scroll down to where you want to comment. Annoying but not a big problem. Is this easily fixable?
Good idea!
I always check the “Keep me logged in” box and then I almost always log in to the actual administration interface first, so it rarely happens to me, but you are right that it IS annoying. Especially late in the day when many comments have come in and you may not even remember roughly where in the feed you were when you intended to comment.
The current behavior is according to WordPress’s built-in standard, but there should probably be a solution for it. However troublesome it may be, it depends on whether it is possible to hook in or manipulate the redirection that occurs after logging in (as it is now, you end up on the right page anyway).
I’ll look into it and see if it’s relatively simple; if it looks like it will take several hours, I might skip it.

On the night of 30 June (from 22:00 on 29 June), the enemy attacked with 107 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of dummy drones from the following directions: Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation, Gvardeyskoye – TOT Crimea.
❗️The main direction of the strike was Donetsk and Kharkiv regions!
The air attack was repelled by aviation, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Johan, how was it, are you in Portugal now or did you miss the lovely warmth?

Returns – halfway there right now 👍
Halfway there on the flight?
I remember when I arrived in Rome once during a heatwave there, going directly from the plane’s comfortable AC-regulated environment right out into the heat, a bit of a “climate shock” to face 35-40 degrees of heat.
Heat is one thing, scents another, airplanes have very low humidity, about 20%, which makes scents almost disappear. You barely notice that the person next to you has overused their perfume purchased at duty-free and immediately had to test it. When you then disembark the plane, especially directly on the tarmac, you are struck by all the scents, especially when it is hot and humid.
😳
He means halfway so he probably has 23.3 degrees?

Now they’re thinking that NATO funds should go towards bridge construction?
If I remember correctly, they have already tried to secure funds from the EU to build that bridge and it seems that large sums have been embezzled and disappeared in connection with planning and design. (Unclear if the EU has contributed at that stage). They have been contemplating that bridge since the 60s and a major concern is that the mafia will benefit the most from the construction, but now it actually sounds like it will happen, although it’s insane if they are going to count it as NATO rearmament to reach 5%.
“Italy wants the expenses for a huge bridge between the mainland and Sicily to be counted towards NATO’s new defense spending target of five percent, reports Politico.
Italy is one of the countries in the alliance that spends the least on its military. The bridge is seen as an easy way for Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to accelerate the expenditure increase to five percent of GDP, with an already planned expense.”
https://omni.se/italien-vill-bygga-rekordlang-bro-for-natopengar/a/1Mad7l
Now 1.5% will go to civil defense, including the construction of bridges. Politicians are cheering and will outdo each other in grandiose plans for building bridges and more proposals that we don’t understand how they are related to preparedness, just wait 😮 Politicians can be creative when waving money so there will probably be a lot of strange proposals.
If it were military ports or airports (and connecting roads) one could understand it, but a bridge that they have already planned to build and apparently budgeted for…
Is Sweden being a bit creative, maybe the costs for Slussen can be counted as part of the NATO expenses?? 😂
That something is already budgeted and decided I do not see as a problem, it concerns a large part of our defense.
Then if that bridge is important I do not know.
But isn’t Sicily a bit like the Gotland of the Mediterranean?
Maybe we should build a bridge to Gotland? Will that win votes?
If it is budgeted and decided as a regular construction project and is not classified as a defense expense, but suddenly needs to be accounted for as such in order to reach 5%, then it is still quite remarkable.
All prejudices about Italians are true
That they have small shoes?

Russia has gathered 50,000 soldiers around the regional capital Sumy in northern Ukraine. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal. The troops are located about two miles north of the city.
The newspaper writes that Russia is using its manpower advantage to put pressure on Ukraine in more and more locations along the front, and that Sumy has become a new strategic target for Moscow.
General Oleksandr Syrskyj, Ukraine’s top military commander, says that Russia’s goal is to “wear out” the Ukrainian soldiers.
Russian forces attempted another mechanized assault on Stepova Novosilka (Kupyansk axis) but were repelled by the 43rd Mechanized Brigade. Despite repeated claims of “control” over the village, five times last year alone, Ukrainian forces continue to hold the line there.

A government must take into account foreign powers even if they do not agree and cannot engage in activism in foreign countries. Especially if both countries are members of cooperative organizations such as the EU and NATO.
Members of parliament and EU parliamentarians have a freer role.
The opposition is well aware of this but sees an opportunity to attack the government for not doing anything, and if they had done something, Sweden’s reputation would have been damaged.

Church-Russian revolt: what lies behind the high-profile political arrests in Armenia
FRIDAY, 27 JUNE 2025, 09:40 — YURI PANCHENKO, EUROPEAN TRUTH
On 25 June, there were some pretty big arrests in Armenia. The authorities said they uncovered a network that was planning a “violent takeover.”
Among those arrested were several priests of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) and even Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who was the leader of the anti-government protests involving thousands of people that took place last year. And this is just one component of the very acute political struggle currently underway in Armenia.
The day before, Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan, who is of Armenian origin, was detained. The issue of nationalising the strategic company Electric Network of Armenia, which is part of his holding company, is currently being decided.
At the same time, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan entered into a fierce conflict with the leadership of the Armenian Apostolic Church, demanding the resignation of its leader, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
All these events appear to be part of a single scenario and are directly related to the upcoming parliamentary elections, which are scheduled to take place next year.
However, a number of questions remain unanswered.
Or perhaps, on the contrary, this is simply an attempt by Pashinyan to crack down on the opposition in advance and guarantee his victory in the next elections? And what impact could these events have on Armenia’s foreign policy? The “sacred struggle” for power “Law enforcement agencies have prevented a large-scale and sinister plan by the ‘criminal oligarchic clergy’ to destabilise the Republic of Armenia and seize power,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan posted on Facebook on 25 June. And while the official statement from the Armenian Investigative Committee was not very specific, the Civic publication soon revealed the coup plan allegedly being prepared by the opposition. According to this plan, the coup was being prepared by the opposition movement “Holy Struggle,” which had been fighting the authorities by legal means, primarily by organising large-scale protest rallies. According to the investigation, representatives of the “Holy Struggle” were going to form about 200 strike groups, each consisting of 20-25 people, primarily former military personnel.
On that day, strike groups were supposed to carry out a series of terrorist attacks, which would lead to an “uncontrollable situation” in the country. The Investigative Committee indicates that about a thousand people had already been recruited for this purpose. What was supposed to happen next is not specified in the plan. However, it is very telling that the plan published in the media includes a point about the possibility of organising “a gathering of all key actors in a neutral country with the participation of representatives of the Russian side”.
Fourteen people have been officially declared detained. Subsequently, by decision of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction, they were remanded in custody for two months. Among those detained is Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, former head of the Tavus Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. He is certainly one of Pashinyan’s most powerful opponents. Last year, it was the Tavush region, where demarcation work began on the border with Azerbaijan, that became the centre of large-scale anti-government protests. Archbishop Bagrat became the leader of these protests. He subsequently resigned from his position as head of the diocese, but received special permission from the Catholicos to enter politics and announced his ambition to become the new prime minister.
