Analysis Trump 24 April 2025

Today I have to try to figure out Trump because now we have enough to see the patterns – have some ideas in the end.

I have already delivered the final analysis on the Ukraine issue, but here I am trying to find the motivations in general.

Trump has denied Ukraine to buy weapons for 50 billion USD from American companies, and the Pentagon is starting to get tired of Europe supporting Ukraine so fully – they even went to Europe to put some pressure but Macron unexpectedly managed not to be talked down.

Russia did not receive any trade tariffs and the peace negotiations are a sad affair in general where everything is completely rigged in favor of Russia. Kursk has not been mentioned at all and Ukraine left the area days before the first peace negotiation (politically!) but that little pocket Russia holds in Kharkiv is a bargaining chip mentioned in the proposal – – equal treatment is naturally absent.

Trump praises Putin as soon as he gets the chance and at the same time he is condescending towards Ukraine, wants to colonize them, and does his best to destabilize Zelensky domestically.

DOGE provides passwords to the Russian intelligence service giving them access to top-secret databases, the Russians also received new legitimate email addresses for the purpose.

While Trump absolutely spits and hisses against China, has been very harsh towards the EU, and crashed the relationship with all of the USA’s biggest trading partners within a few weeks.

Then we had Biden’s non-escalation doctrine towards Russia that Trump continues – but he intends to start a war against Iran, and if necessary also China, which is in line with Biden’s policies.

So Trump is the President of the USA and has survived the trial by fire in the form of everything being tried in the USA to bring him down. He is generally considered to be pro-Russian already so nothing can change his situation if further information were to come out on that issue.

So if Putin has compromising material on Trump, it’s presumably worthless?

Trump’s family has all the money they need now after the latest pump-and-dump stock market fraud, the family’s meme-coins, 5-million-dollar dinners, and his Truth social where he quietly sells the shares. Trump is likely good for a few more billion at this point in the game.

Not to mention all the suitcases of dollars under the table for all the deals he will make for those who pay – other countries or the elite. Vietnam was the first, in their efforts to engage in fair trade with the USA, they also fast-tracked the approval of a Trump resort in the country. Trump is definitely a president for sale just like all the others.

Trump has his guys at the FBI and CIA now, which could of course change, but he is legitimate and currently has no threats of imprisonment hanging over him. He has 4 years and after that, if he has managed to make the USA better, maybe the GOP will still be in power?

So Trump doesn’t need Putin for security or money either.

So exactly WHAT is going on here – what is driving Trump who is not known for his strong ideology or for never betraying his pals directly?

What I have guessed is that –

-The USA wants to go after China before they become too strong.

-The USA wants to keep Europe in check so WE don’t become too strong.

-The USA wants Russia as an ally against China, and for Russia to keep Europe in check through perhaps a cold war.

For the Cold War was the USA’s best years.

And then I believe the decision to strike Iran has already been made.

But this could have been resolved in the same way Biden did it, and Obama and the Clintons before him. These presidents managed to mesmerize us in Europe to the extent that we complied with everything and there was a somewhat united front against the threat, which is China.

The situation as it has developed goes far beyond that now as the USA is in the process of replacing its Western allies with Russia, a gas station run by a criminal clan.

And they are about to crash their dominant position and the special status of the dollar, which could have consequences that no one dares to guess at this point.

Why then?

The USA could probably have gotten the EU on board against China sooner or later through some sinister diplomacy.

The EU is not at all in order yet, not even with a knife to our throats are we doing the right thing now at the eleventh hour. And historically, we have collapsed like a house of cards at the slightest stress test – our infantry, which is so much better than Ukraine’s according to everyone, held out for weeks the last time.

And we couldn’t handle Yugoslavia at all.

I am actually not getting a grip on this,

-One thought could be that Trump et al. are planning to crash the USA on behalf of Russia – but why?

Trump is filthy rich and has it very good, why would he suddenly become a left-wing communist and binge-read Marx, and Russia is no longer communist – they are a criminal clan that happens to have a country.

And we see how Trump treats Ukraine, the man has zero empathy and would colonize his own grandmother if given the chance.

It is impossible that he would have high regard for Russia and its citizens – it is more likely that he is using them for another purpose.

DOGE has been caught providing passwords to secret databases to IP addresses in Russia as we wrote above.

“Forensic evidence” exists. This is worrying because it suggests that Trump’s administration is definitely selling out the USA to Russia. I don’t think this is smoke and mirrors or an influence operation from the Democrats because there are too many whistleblowers and they have presented evidence to Congress/the Senate several times.

It is VERY difficult to escape the fact that Trump’s administration is playing both sides with Russia and DOGE’s betrayal was orchestrated by Musk, and Trump is fully involved.

Trump is now pursuing exactly the policy he intends – nothing can be blamed on anyone else, he has a majority everywhere up to the Supreme Court.

So Trump and Elon are fully aware that passwords have leaked to the Russian intelligence service.

And DOGE has also made large dumps of top-secret information that no one knows where it is – but we can guess 😃

Russia has essentially fallen as a country due to their major mistake in the Ukraine war, but Trump and Elon are behaving like convinced communists during the Cold War – WHY THEN 😡

Trump has managed to evade everything and now there is AI, so if a film of him in a hotel room with a twelve-year-old emerges, it’s just “fake news” and it will die out in a week.

Putin HAS NO COMPROMISING MATERIAL ON HIM.

I can understand if RU would have Elon Musk in a financial bind.

But Trump?

He has all the means he needs now – he is free.

Yes, he had almost the entire USA against him and now also the whole world, but he could have corrected the mistakes as Biden did and been praised instead?

He had quite decent popularity figures when he took office, and even all the way up to the Supreme Court, so there was his chance to do everything right and there is plenty to draw from Biden’s well because just like in Europe, our elected officials have mismanaged things for quite a while since the times have been too good.

It didn’t start off completely wrong with border controls, and then he wanted to broker peace and become our time’s Gandhi, defense budgets were to be halved, the USA was to withdraw so fewer of these colonization and predatory capitalist wars. Trump would simply make the world a much better place to live.

But after two months, everything went wrong, and now he is well on his way to crashing the USA, and he has made the USA a pariah in the entire West.

Everything is always connected – with DOGE and the treatment of Ukraine, it is extremely clear that Russia has a special position where Trump favors them at the expense of the USA.

I am ready to start looking for alternative explanations – I could understand if he does what, for example, Israel asks of him considering his family connections, but why would they want to crash the USA – the only country guaranteeing their survival (even though Israel is behaving more than questionably right now).

Or is Trump doing the bidding of a new group of “oligarchs” who want to tear down in order to build up and hopefully end up on top – an elite’s revolution to rotate at the tax account?

One should not exaggerate the gray eminences behind the scenes pulling the strings – in Russia, Putin simply took down the elite, arrested the country’s richest man, and then took control of everything. Yes – one could argue that he was the gray eminence and the strongest, but he had a background as a bullied rat with a prostitute mother, as far from an elite as one can get (I’m not judging the mother’s life choices, just that she was not a privileged elite!).

Yes, when our politicians are like in Sweden, a group motivated with ample means can control and manipulate quite a bit, which we see in the various moves by the Moderates right now, but in the USA, Trump has also reached the softest and most sacred parts. If there was a gray eminence that could not be challenged, Trump would never have been able to go as far as he has, for the elite’s playing field is well on its way to changing in the USA.

It just becomes strange speculations about it all, but I actually can’t see it – that Trump would be afraid of some hotel video or be so loyal to his best buddy Putin that he willingly crashes the USA?

However, such crises are great opportunities for new ambitious ruthless actors, and old royalties can fall – maybe we should look at who is on the rise and who is falling in this mess?

Or is it as simple as Trump himself trying to bring down the current power structure and aiming to become the dictator of the USA?

Trying to be a Hitler, plain and simple?

It would be a bit sad if we were heading in that direction because once again there will be enough people jumping on that train, and then Europe can forget about the alliance with the USA.

Upon reflection, maybe that is the logical explanation for what he is up to here?

He wants to trigger a really severe recession in the USA in order to bring down the current power structures and snatch everything for his own group – just like Putin did?

But instead of waiting for the right moment, he is creating it himself.

It shouldn’t be a smooth transition because those in power today should at least organize some form of defense?

The weakness of democracy and all that…

Unfortunately, I have to conclude this – Trump is trying to seize absolute power, and it is best done in a heavy crisis. I read a bit about Hitler before this post, and Trump is actually following all the steps Hitler took. Just like in Germany, there will be enough people ready to jump on the train.

What should follow then is the arrests of opposition and influential figures in an attempt to further consolidate his power.

And external wars, of course.

Musk is a classic SA story – a disposable item.

From the ashes will rise a final circle close to Trump, and those we are used to will one by one be imprisoned or expelled.

And DOGE has done the groundwork for them, as they have now snatched the CIA, FBI, and others’ archives of compromising material on influential figures in the USA, and Russia has probably received it to prepare for the influence operations that Trump can then act on legally?

DOGE acted swiftly after January 20, so it is likely that the authorities did not have time to hide information.

What Trump needs Russia for is to further consolidate his power in the USA, that is my conclusion.

I think I should post this in English as well and try to get some input from people in the USA on Substack and see what they have to say.

Quite a staggering thought actually, but it has happened before and it will happen again, so the likelihood that this is what Trump is up to is probably greater than any compromising material or that he admires Putin.

I wrote before Trump took office that we needed a couple of months to read him, and so far we have clearly been able to assess in the Ukraine area, but now I think the overall picture is starting to become clear.

Very strong reasons for Europe to resolve the Ukraine conflict IMMEDIATELY and then position ourselves for what is to come – it’s a bit of a survival mode right now…

Aron Flam is joined by Bard who has a very good analysis of the situation (Flam doesn’t get a word in edgewise which is funny in itself)
    https://poddtoppen.se/podcast/1073859670/dekonstruktiv-kritik/alexander-bard-trump-ar-ett-fiasko

Trump is a failed businessman who sees the presidency as the ultimate businessman. He now believes he can achieve anything in his little bubble, even if it means the US crashing.

    1. Word duel between Sweden’s most verbal and talented individuals Aron Flam and Alexander Bard. Judeo-Aryan meeting, says Alexander Bard. Unrestrained and worth listening to!

      1. It becomes a bit uninteresting in the middle when they get into religion (unless you are specifically looking for that discussion), however the ending is very interesting.
RU will not deploy any nuclear weapons against Kiev, you don’t destroy what you want to have. However, against Warsaw, as Poland has promised to never fall into the clutches of the axis powers of evil again and refuses to be bullied by RU.
Is Belarus in a bad position after UA? Yes, why not. It’s easier to intervene there if you have already infiltrated their military.
Many interesting thoughts that would never come up otherwise.

  5. Found a good lady who is an expert (researching) authoritarianism.

If we add my father-in-law Aulis Aaarnio who worked with democracy, added with the help of Wittgenstein and von Wright, democracies need stability with laws and rules to function.
So how do you combat democracies – Well, you attack with disorder and that’s when the truth gets overshadowed. Then you point out that democracy doesn’t work and present that an authoritarian leader makes things work better through lies! That’s the playbook of fascism!
You create a new “seemingly” order where the truth has no place, but is replaced with a created reality (see Putin, see Hitler). That’s the playbook Trump plays with and he has always lied to assert himself. Every time he opens his mouth, it’s a lie and he doesn’t care because then we resort to threats!
Pretty easy to see through if you listen to Abbey!!!
Thank goodness for the EU, Ukraine, and Zelenskyy, Mette, Stubb, Kallas, von der Leyen, Pål Jonsson, and a few more! Leaders who know what they’re doing!!
NOTE: Johan, sorry, you have to become a minister first before you make it onto the list, even though you’re damn good!!

    1. Just like that, and the fact that Trump has had his sights set on dictatorship has been quite clear for a long time.
He admires Putin for managing to concentrate all power to himself, and surely receives advice and help from him in return for Trump helping Russia with Ukraine.
That thing about disorder fits well, to be in the borderland of the illegal, and gradually move the boundaries by populating the legal system with loyal employees. In the end, it is he who decides what is legal or not.
I suppose we will soon see arrests of political opponents due to tax offenses or “threats to national security.” Probably it will happen in the shadow of, for example, the war against Iran.

  6. The maritime traffic from China to the USA is down 60% in just a few weeks.

Not only tariffs, but the cost of docking Chinese ships in an American port is now 5 million USD.

And then there’s the package cost as well, at 75 USD per package.

    1. Culture Eats Bad Strategy! If you threaten and are met with strength, it won’t end well! So one should handle #fcktrmp and #fckptn!

      1. Jo China is coming out on top so far 😀

A little bit worried about what it means for China when they discovered how easy it was – if that country gets hubris, it could probably get lively

    2. So far, there are probably quite a few orders remaining where the buyer does not get out of the contract, or it concerns factories in the USA that in turn have orders where it will cost them too much to break them, so they choose to fulfill them.

I guess we’re down to 30% in a month or two.

  7. Drone swarms towards Russian targets and Russian retaliation with Kalibr against civilian targets including Kiev.

    High civilian casualties.

What has been taken out in RU during the night?

    1. Ukraine is fighting to take out vital military targets!
#fckptn fights “as he can” by trying to oppress the Ukrainian people!
      #slavaukrainii

    2. Ukrainian drone strike hits Russian drone factory over 1,000 kilometers from border, military claims. The strike, carried out by Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces in coordination with other branches of the military, targeted a plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, the General Staff said.

⚡️ Rubio, Witkoff reportedly clash over easing Russia sanctions; Trump admin denies.

Trump officials are debating the possibility of lifting sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and other energy assets as part of peace efforts in Ukraine, Politico reported, citing sources.
    https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lnk3quhlwc26

Does the USA believe that NS2 will flourish just because they want to lift their sanctions?

There must also be a functioning land connection with a German government that approves this.

    1. 😂 Yes, oh my, one can wonder how they think. By the way, does the USA have sanctions against NS2? In what way then, they surely won’t buy any gas through it even when it was working?

    2. Lammis watching ruzzian empire go BOOM

I saw this about Nordstream: https://www.intellinews.com/comment-could-the-us-strike-a-deal-to-restart-nord-stream-gas-pipeline-376316/?source=bulgaria But I also remember that “someone” recently brought it up (I think it was Konstantin in “Inside Russia”, can’t find it now) who dismissed it as a Kremlin-planned rumor because it just suddenly appeared, without any source reference, and the opening of NordStream would directly compete with American LNG exports.

  9. Does anyone have any thoughts on Trump’s role through Project 2025 and why he acts the way he does? Unfortunately, I haven’t had the energy to delve deeper than superficially into the content of Project 2025, but it seems more and more to be the actual handbook behind most of the Trump administration’s choices. Thus, it also appears that Trump is just the figurehead and it is other project members who actually control the overall agenda. However, the actions regarding Russia do not seem entirely logical to me, and I can’t quite understand what in Project 2025 would drive Trump in that direction. So, please enlighten me! 🙂

    1. Well, I have chosen not to jump on board with project 2025 for the simple reason that it was the opposition that screamed bloody murder, or the future opposition 😀

Now that we have the results, there is probably reason to scrutinize it closely.

    2. Flurrevuppen

Clipped from agenda 2025 chapter 6, state department:

      * One school of conservative thought holds that as Moscow’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine drags on, Russia presents major challenges to U.S. interests, as well as to peace, stability, and the post-Cold War security order in Europe. This viewpoint argues for continued U.S. involvement including military aid, economic aid, and the presence of NATO and U.S. troops if necessary. The end goal of the conflict must be the defeat of Russian President Vladimir Putin and a return to pre-invasion border lines.

      * Another school of conservative thought denies that U.S. Ukrainian support is in the national security interest of America at all. Ukraine is not a member of the NATO alliance and is one of the most corrupt nations in the region. European nations directly affected by the conflict should aid in the defense of Ukraine, but the U.S. should not continue its involvement. This viewpoint desires a swift end to the conflict through a negotiated settlement between Ukraine and Russia.

      * The tension between these competing positions has given rise to a third approach. This conservative viewpoint eschews both isolationism and interventionism. Rather, each foreign policy decision must first ask the question: What is in the interest of the American people? U.S. military engagement must clearly fall within U.S. interests; be fiscally responsible; and protect American freedom, liberty, and sovereignty, all while recognizing Communist China as the greatest threat to U.S. interests. Thus, with respect to Ukraine, continued U.S. involvement must be fully paid for; limited to military aid (while European allies address Ukraine’s economic needs); and have a clearly defined national security strategy that does not risk American lives.

Regardless of viewpoints, all sides agree that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is unjust and that the Ukrainian people have a right to defend their homeland. Furthermore, the conflict has severely weakened Putin’s military strength and provided a boost to NATO unity and its importance to European nations. The next conservative President has a generational opportunity to bring resolution to the foreign policy tensions within the movement and chart a new path forward that recognizes Communist China as the defining threat to U.S. interests in the 21st century.

      1. Flurrevuppen

        Endnote individually:

        Thus, with respect to
Ukraine, continued U.S. involvement must be fully paid for; limited to military
aid (while European allies address Ukraine’s economic needs); and have a
clearly defined national security strategy that does not risk American lives.

  10. If we assume that Trump is aiming to become a Hitler 2.0, it somewhat aligns with that Project 2025. Not an impossible scenario, but I don’t think it explains why he is cozying up to Russia. Russia doesn’t really have anything that the USA truly needs. Sure, cheap oil and gas, but burning bridges with Europe over that won’t benefit the US economically. It could be that he simply wants to ally with other dictatorships, but then he should have reached out to North Korea and Hungary as well?

A more logical explanation is that he wants Russia on his side against China, regardless of the cost to the USA. If he wants to crash the USA, breaking ties with Europe is a good way to go, which will accelerate the economic decline of the USA.

He has also received help from Russia both with the election campaign and financially with Russian investors, etc. He must have promised something in return, so I believe that could also play a significant role.

I don’t believe in compromising material, but it cannot be dismissed by simply calling it deepfake. If the Russians post carefully selected negatives where the authenticity can be verified by selected parts of the US media and of course by other authorities, and at the same time the content is really serious, I think that could be enough to make Trump do whatever he can for Putin. It might be interesting if he fails to satisfy Putin’s dreams of a Russian victory, sorry, I mean peace. If Putin feels he isn’t getting what he wants, he might use compromising material to create a crisis in the USA.

Then we have the combination of all three above.

It’s also evident that he likes Putin, but I doubt that alone is a sufficient explanation.

    1. It has been said a few times that the USA under Trump wants to do business. Trump is a businessman. Wars that are ongoing harm the markets. Especially when wars are on Europe’s doorstep, over in Eastern Europe. Such wars should be ended at all costs. If it requires slaps, pressures, and threats or unholy alliances like the one with Russia, then it’s worth it even if it seems counterintuitive. The USA has lost its way here. Trump’s very own poor judgment is behind the rapprochement with Russia. Nothing else. He has gained too much power within his own circle. That’s how I see it. He is pushing away his friends in the free world. One must be able to distinguish friends from enemies.

      1. The basic idea of stopping the war is not wrong in itself, and as you write, it may actually be important not to disrupt the business, and then he doesn’t care how he gets there.

However, I find it incomprehensible that he doesn’t understand the consequences (economically and in terms of trust) of favoring Russia in relation to both Europe and Ukraine.

    2. Maybe Trump needs Russian expertise to be able to take over the USA completely?

After all, he doesn’t have the CIA and FBI on his side for things like murder, and somewhere incriminating information must leak from, as well as the “know-how” on how to take over a country?

    3. Flurrevuppen

      Quote
“but then he should have reached out a hand to North Korea and Hungary as well?”

      But hasn’t he done that?
No one really knows exactly what he talked about with Kim last time?

And Orban has definitely been in his circle for a long time.

2017 Poland was governed by law and justice closer to Trump.
I get a feeling that Trump doesn’t care about countries and their citizens, only about who is currently in power.
He cares about who owns the property, not about the tenants to simplify it all.

    2. Once again, he is a narcissist.
Those who were in power back then and did what he liked are no longer around, so Poland is now uninteresting.
A narcissist exploits people until they no longer need them or receive more focus than the narcissist themselves. Look at Musk.

  12. Good that Zelenskyy is standing his ground, but he hasn’t realized that Trump unfortunately doesn’t care about previous agreements or statements (he loudly complained, for example, about the trade agreement with Canada that he himself helped arrange the last time he was president.)

“Zelenskyy posted a 2018 Crimea Declaration from Mike Pompeo, secretary of state during Donald Trump’s first term, which said: “The United States rejects Russia’s attempted annexation of Crimea and pledges to maintain this policy until Ukraine’s territorial integrity is restored.”

  13. Bal posted this the day before yesterday, but it ended up being published after yesterday’s post so probably not many people saw it. I think it’s worth reading (and discussing) by more people so I’m posting it again.
(Hope you don’t take offense BAL?).

“Excuse me if this is a bit off topic. Trying to sort out my thoughts on what is happening in society, both in Sweden and the EU. A good way for me is to write, so once again excuse me for using this forum.
Because today, society is making completely insane decisions, but why?
I saw a documentary about how a Farawayland country invested hundreds of millions to influence decisions in the EU. If they are willing to do that, how much money do countries like Russia, China, and Iran invest, just to give a few examples. 100 million in the bank account of a EU politician is peanuts in this context. Paying 20 politicians the same amount to push an agenda is still small sums.
No, I don’t think the EU is completely corrupt, the fact that they haven’t gone full Trump regarding Ukraine is proof that the EU construction, which can be likened to a dam, still holds but is under great pressure.
So what has happened and is happening? Europe’s enemies are looking for cracks to exploit. They gladly delve into issues that are important to a minority of the population. People who are more emotionally driven have a tendency to engage in such issues out of pure reflex.
The media is largely made up of emotionally driven people, which is why the media attention has an impact, which in turn increases the cracks in society.
It’s good that there are emotionally driven people, I believe that a society governed by accountants would also be a disaster. A mix is best.
When Swedish emotional officials interpret writings from the EU like a fan interprets the Bible, I too have thought about Swexit, but that is exactly the intention behind the actions.
Look at it this way. Out on the plain, a herd is being chased by wolves. Together the herd is strong, so the wolves have two options. Either they can split the herd (EU) or drive it to a cliff where the herd falls (regulations and laws).
    Regardless, the wolves win.
The construction that the EU consists of must be strengthened with the above in mind and quickly, otherwise the wolves will have a feast.”

    1. I believe that both we in Sweden and within the EU have been very naive when it comes to corruption and that it is something we must start working hard to counteract. We are quite good in Sweden, for example, at complicating public procurement to counteract nepotism, etc. It causes problems but unfortunately is necessary, but there are so many other areas where the risk of corruption is very high.

      1. Westley Richard

Despite all the rules, there are plenty of former politicians who make big money on deals that look dirty, Göran Persson, Anders Sundström, etc. the list can be long and there are politicians from all parties. The difference is that our politicians report their income to the tax authority.

        1. That’s how it is, of course. It probably stops a lot when it comes to those who procure in the authorities, but politicians and others who are more loosely connected to various decisions etc. slip through.

It’s not foolproof, also leads to high additional costs and procurements that discriminate against smaller companies, and it’s probably often the case that it results in the least suitable getting the assignment. In addition, authorities learn to tailor the procurements based on those they want to get the assignment. It also destroys long-term planning, where new procurements are forced despite the current supplier being established and everything working as it should.

    2. I sense a criticism of an EU that engages in self-harming behavior with all the permit and environmental assessments. Europe is losing competitiveness. We are becoming poorer. Our leaders are more administrators/technocrats than leaders. Like our own Ulf Kristersson. All changes take a very long time. Dekonstruktiv Kritik with Aron Flam and Alexander Bard address this in their podcast. See above. The topic is underreported in our mainstream media. It’s fortunate that there are new alternative media outlets.

      1. Bureaucracy and regulations are of course also a major problem, when it becomes too detailed it increases costs, on the other hand, there are many scary examples of how the market behaves when there is no control at all. Just focusing on money and competitiveness (= completely free market) would probably ultimately lead to a worse society.

At the same time, it should not go too far in the other direction, and in many cases, we have probably ended up there, and the more regulations, the more bureaucrats and the longer lead times when it comes to change.

      2. The podcast “The Last Meal” has made an interesting observation in the latest episode with Martin Kinnunen. We often blame the EU when in fact we are very good at making things complicated ourselves. When you hear him, SD (Sweden Democrats) doesn’t sound like a “climate denial party” but actually has a very sober approach to Environmental Goals and Environmental Legislation.

        For example,
Composting garden waste became “Now we can’t light bonfires! Damn EU” when it was us who made it complicated. The EU has no objection to burning if it is a better solution for the individual municipality.

          1. Yes, or perhaps rather the lawyers who are supposed to help interpret the rules. They are terrified of giving advice that later turns out not to be restrictive enough and that could result in the client/employer being fined.

I’ve heard of some situations where lawyers have made interpretations that have led to completely absurd nonsense, contributing to unnecessary cost increases and significantly worse solutions, simply because they have interpreted laws and regulations so incredibly restrictively that it’s ridiculous (and in some cases due to lack of knowledge in the subject matter).

    3. Today, only the state pays a criminal organization for your wife’s company for a lecture she just started with, which is two hours of surfing on her phone in a meeting room she received half a grand for and does twice a month.

No one cares and the tax agency just wants to collect the tax.

  14. Robert Calvert

    Interesting Trump wall today.

I don’t think very highly of Trump and all the plans ahead.
Sure, there’s Project 2025 at the core, but beneath that core lies the old-fashioned QAnon. And QAnon, in turn, stems from Russia’s best influence campaign ever.

    This is what I believe:
QAnon was created by the Kremlin to destabilize the USA primarily, and as a possible bonus, to rupture the West and NATO. We might as well give the Russians credit for being well on their way to achieving this.

But QAnon took on a life of its own, began to metamorphose on its own, with self-added conspiracies and theories. It lost the Russian view of which direction each new step in development should take. To put it mildly, QAnon became a self-playing piano monster that made its way through American society and politics on its own, with no other direction than against everything the USA stood for.
(Well, they said in the Kremlin, it’s not turning out so bad after all…)

What we see today is the figurehead Trump who is supposed to carry out what Project 2025 has in mind, which would then be to correct the world according to the QAnon model: to give us The Great Reset.
Preferably by enriching ourselves in the meantime.

Unfortunately, the deep thinkers within QAnon live in a very simplified world of black and white, and as we all know, that’s not how the world we live in works. That’s why everything is currently backfiring for the American administration.

    1. Has the same line, the USA is currently governed by ideologues who unfortunately are noticeably disconnected from the reality they are supposed to relate to.

      1. Westley Richard

At the same time, many “experts” express that the administration lacks an ideology and is governed by a desire to align with Trump and satisfy his whims.

    2. Oh my God – I followed Qanon from the beginning.

There was FBIanon, CIAanon, and many others, but with Qanon, they hit the mark and it had a HUGE impact.

After maybe 1-2 years, I could confidently say that it was a Russian influence operation, and I have it as such.

      Absolutely enormously successful, almost untouchable.

  15. Ukraine probably had a slightly weaker economy than Russia (e.g. slightly lower GDP per capita) but in terms of area and population, they were about one third of Russia.

Admittedly, Ukraine also had widespread corruption but not at the same level as Russia with its siloviks, oligarchs, and mafia-like rule.

Ukraine is a democratic country and on the path forward (if they had avoided war since 2014, they would have had a bright future and surely would have been part of the EU by now).

I am quite sure that it is much easier to trade with Ukraine (in peacetime) and make good deals compared to Russia.

Certainly, when it comes to Russia, it is possible that he may receive large sums under the table from them, but at the same time, there are many more in Russia who want a piece of the pie, the question is whether there is so much to gain. Trump also wants the US to increase coal and oil production, is it then sensible to favor one of the biggest competitors if we only consider the economy?

Trump may manage to strike a mineral deal with Ukraine, but it is probably too late now since it didn’t get finalized before the peace proposal (that’s why he was in a hurry), but that’s probably the last thing he does in Ukraine in that case.

He has probably angered the rest of Ukraine’s population so much now that the US will not be welcome as long as Trump is president.

When Trump chooses to fully align with Russia, he is thus burning all bridges with Ukraine, a market that in terms of population size encompasses almost 10% of the US population and where there is a great need for investments in many areas.

When it comes to economy and business, which should be Trump’s strong suit, I find it very difficult to understand his choices.

    1. Well, there isn’t much that is logical in Trump’s behavior.

This may have to do with Zelensky refusing to give Trump dirt on the Bidens when he asked before the 2020 presidential election.

    2. It’s probably hard to understand; he has never liked Zelensky, and as someone pointed out, he equates the leaders with the country. He doesn’t care about the population, nor about laws and norms, only strength (masculine), respect, services, and favors between the leaders count.

I don’t think we should try to find logic in what he does. Logic and thinking about consequences are not his strong suits. This is not politics he’s involved in. It’s probably more primitive. A bit like a group of gorilla males fighting over females and territory. The ones best at shaking the trees or waving the biggest stick win.

There are certainly enough examples of primates also working together, in a similar way to Trump and Putin when faced with a common threat, like a hungry lion.

If one considers China to be the lion, it explains a lot. The young upstart Zelensky is quarreling with the other old silverback that Trump’s gorilla wants to help him defeat the lion, and it’s not working out. The fact that the male, Putler, whom Trump has chosen to ally with, has both toothache, incontinence, and kidney stones, and could soon be taken down by the young Z, is not something he believes. He has known Putler for a long time, and they have helped each other in times of need before.

  16. Have you finally ruled out multi-dimensional chess? Otherwise, today’s bid (including Crimea, the remnants of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia) is also something that is likely to meet resistance in Russia. What is the risk that despite Trump’s envoy’s anchoring with Putin, the proposal, which from Ukraine’s point of view is unacceptable, may still be rejected by Moscow?

  17. I believe it is hopeless to try to discern any well-thought-out plan or strategy behind Trump’s actions at all. Everything points to the fact that the man is so stupid that the IQ scale only becomes relevant at the decimal level. Just look at how he justifies the tariffs. Trump paints a picture of the idea that through the tariffs, the USA will suddenly transform into a fantasy image of an idyllic American 1950s. Where happy, strong workers drive off in their Ford cars to the big smoking factory while a Colgate-smiling wife hands over the lunchbox with a mayo-dripping American Dagwood sandwich. In Trump’s fantasy, all men have jobs and all families have a high standard of living. However, one does not need to be a professor of economics to understand that Trump’s ideas are pure rainbow fantasies. Today’s high material standard of living is based on cheap labor in Asia, i.e. imports. If everything is to be produced in the USA instead, either prices must rise or wages must fall. In both cases, the standard of living in the USA decreases. Trump, however, seems to genuinely not understand such simple connections. There is no other explanation for this than that he is severely stupid. Probably the same goes for Russia. Trump has heard that Russia has some valuable natural resources. “I want those,” thinks Trump, imagining that it’s easily done with a smart business deal. But since he is incapable of more complex thinking, he is completely unaware of the total price for a “deal” with Russia.
Then there may be other hidden individuals behind the scenes with a more elaborate agenda, such as lowering the dollar, crashing the US economy, or China’s. Such a plan is surely more complex. A first step could be to create chaos. In that aspect, Trump is only a perfect tool. A total idiot with grandiose self-perception and boundless power. What could go wrong for someone wishing for total chaos? What plans will take over after Trump’s total destruction remains to be seen…

    1. But how does DOGE’s conveying of passwords to GRU fit into this?

Or the recent attack on Iran?

Or the fact that JD Vance was just in India and three days later it’s almost war?

      1. I don’t know. It’s so desperately difficult to see that there is any well-thought-out plan or strategy behind the actions of the Trump administration. Trump behaves like a primitive gangster using bribes, threats, and violence as pressure tactics to achieve what he wants. He then follows the same simple manual as when he did “real estate deals” in Brooklyn: threaten the intended buyer/seller appropriately and bribe some authority figure, and the “deal” is done. It’s a one-step plan that doesn’t require any alternative courses of action. Trump probably can’t imagine that the big world works in any other way. “I want Greenland, the Panama Canal, China’s manufacturing industry moved to the USA, a new regime in Iran, and peace in Ukraine,” thinks Trump. How? Threats, bribes, and violence, how hard can it be, thinks Trump. Can’t passwords be a good bribe for the GRU, a military attack be a Trump-appropriate act of violence to remove those he doesn’t like in Iran, and encouragement of chaos in India be a threat to keep India in check? That this could then lead to consequences that trigger other reactions that in turn can… I don’t think Trump has thought about that.

      2. Now I’m throwing out some theory here.
The passwords to help the trumpet take power through influence and extortion of opponents, just as you wrote, Johan.

Attack on Iran, in order to
        – Help Israel
        – Raise the oil price to help the Russians, assuming their own production of Shahed is underway.
        – Raise the oil price to make drilling at home profitable.
        – Raise the oil price to lower the economy in China and Europe, and force us to buy more from Russia or the USA.
        – It might also have something to do with the Suez Canal and ship traffic from China to Europe, possibly, maybe…
        – I don’t think it’s Trump’s idea, he wouldn’t think that far ahead.

I have no comment on Vance’s visit to India yet, but there was probably a terrorist attack in Kashmir against a lot of tourists. Could it have been by Iranian-backed terrorists?

  18. When Trump stopped NS2, it was with a certain view to selling American gas to Europe. What does Russia have to offer the USA that the USA doesn’t already have? Europe has so much more. The USA’s overwhelmingly largest trading partner.

    1. Thinking along the same lines, from a business perspective, I can’t see any advantages in joining forces with Russia, other than trying to distance them from China. But I don’t understand that either, the only thing China does is trade oil and gas, etc. Instead, Trump could put pressure on China to fix the trade balance by buying more oil and gas from the USA?

    2. Westley Richard

I believe that Trump has some dream that an American company will own NS2 and that they will be able to sit and regulate how much gas Russia can sell and how much the EU can buy. Then he can practice extortion on both sides. Trump has also expressed a desire for the USA to own the gas pipelines that go through UA.

      1. So…..who blew up Nordstream then?
The USA would neeeeever do such a thing, many claimed. Even I had a hard time seeing the benefit of it at that particular moment.
        I’m not so sure anymore.
It could damn well be anyone with knowledge and equipment.

        1. Westley Richard

NS1 where both lines were blown up was owned by companies in the EU. NS2, which has never been put into operation and where only one line was blown up, is owned by Russia.
Who would have benefited from NS2 being put into operation instead of NS1?
I find it hard to believe that the Americans under Biden’s leadership would have blown up NS.

  19. Johan wrote yesterday:

“That’s what I’ve been trying to reason about that always attracts a lot of unfounded criticism – that he does what is right for the USA and maintains his popularity.

Just look at the bottom figures for other presidents to understand that he still has quite strong support.”

Trump’s Approval when it was written was 41%.

Personally, I believe that the reason he hasn’t fallen further can be explained by the fact that he has a solid core of MAGA supporters who have invested themselves emotionally in him and will not abandon him easily. I don’t think he will drop below 30-35% regardless of what he does.

But let’s look at how the ratings have been.
Some presidents are mentioned multiple times because they have served multiple terms.
The ratings apply to the time they were president (not during election campaigns).
Trump’s current period figures are of course not included.

    Highest Approval rating
Looking at the list and sorting it with the lowest figures (thus the worst values) at the top, we get:
    1. Trump 49%
    2. Biden 57%
    3. Nixon 67%

    13. Truman 87%
    14. Bush 89%
    15. Bush 90%

Trump tops the list and has never been above 50%, thus not having the majority of the population’s approval.
Biden is second worst and has not done that well either, but still had a significant majority on his side.

    Lowest Approval rating
    1. Truman 22%
    2. Nixon 24%
    3. Bush 25%
    4. Carter 28%
    5. Bush again 29%
    6. Trump 34% (there we probably find his core supporters)
    9. Biden 36%
    12. Obama 28%
    13. Roosevelt 48%
    14. Eisenhower 48%
    15. Kennedy 56%

So Trump is at 41% today. Here we see that only three others have had better worst approval ratings, so he is doing quite well so far, even compared to his previous figure of 34%. At the same time, it can be noted that almost all presidents have periods where most people really dislike them.

    Highest Disapproval
    1. Bush 71%
    2. Truman 67%
    3. Nixon 66%
    4. Trump 62%

    6. Biden 59%
    15. Kennedy 30%

Both Trump and Biden have poor ratings, although some have done even worse.

    Lowest Disapproval
Here we sort in reverse order to find the worst.
    1. Trump 45%
    2. Biden 37%
    3. Clinton 20%
    4. Reagan 13%

Then there are many in single digits.

So, there have never been fewer than 45% dissatisfied with Trump.
Biden has not done particularly well compared to others, where there is a significant gap.
It is worth considering that Biden has been president at the same time as Trump’s core supporters have been active.
It is not impossible that this may have affected his ratings.

    Conclusion
I have to agree with Johan that 41% so far must be seen as a fairly good level IF we compare it to the very worst results that other presidents have received at some point during their terms.

However, I cannot agree that he is maintaining his popularity when only 41% are satisfied and when it has steadily declined since he took office.
He actually started with a few percentage points above zero while he was below that last time. So, he had a better starting point now than last time, yet after about 90 days, he has dropped below the approval rating he had at 90 days last time.

He hasn’t even been president for 100 days. Even though Biden is one of the worst-rated presidents in terms of approval, he was still at around 55% at his lowest during his first hundred days.
That’s ~15% higher than what Trump is at now.

If we base it on popularity figures and see it as an indication of doing what is good for the USA, I can’t agree that this is what Trump is doing. He seems to be the worst so far and worse than himself (his previous term was the second worst).

Of course, he can do what is best for the USA even if the population doesn’t understand it.

    1. Westley Richard

There is one thing that stands out when comparing these surveys over time, and that is that the number of undecided voters has decreased. Nowadays, everyone has an opinion, and the world has become black or white, which means that the number of dissatisfied and satisfied voters is significantly higher than 20 years ago.
This is also reflected in the numbers.

      1. Perhaps that’s why voter turnout has generally increased somewhat recently, even though the latest was lower than the previous election.

    2. When it comes to 100 days – no one factors in that he has absolutely hit the ground running.

He is extremely polarizing so the group “don’t care” is almost zero which stands out significantly.

Now he is not interested in this before the midterm election and then the presidential election and probably has a plan to get around it anyway 😀

What SHOULD worry is as you write his 35% MAGA fanatics because if countermeasures are needed against demonstrations, the MAGA militia is probably a good group to mobilize.

  20. Now the American and Russian intelligence services are also getting into bed with each other.

“Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service, says he wants to have a meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe. This is reported by Reuters, referring to the state Russian intelligence service Tass.

Naryshkin says he had a “constructive” phone call with Ratcliffe and would like to follow up with a personal meeting “at some point.””
    https://omni.se/ryska-spiontoppen-jag-vill-traffa-cia-s-chef/a/lwjQGe

  21. “Two Swedish Jas 39 Gripen planes carried out a live NATO mission and identified a Russian signals intelligence aircraft over the Baltic Sea, Swedish media reports.

‘We were in the right place at the right time to accomplish the task,’ says Anders Gustafsson, head of the Swedish contingent in Poland, in the press release.

According to Gustafsson, this is ‘a milestone in the history of the Air Force.'”

    1. I asked the defense forces if they shot down the plane and peppered the wreck with anti-aircraft fire – haven’t received any answer yet

  22. “Donald Trump shares Vladimir Putin’s worldview – and wants to emulate him. That’s what the president’s former advisor Fiona Hill says in an interview with Sky News.

She says that Trump wants to govern the USA in a similar way to how Putin governs Russia, and that it is the first time that the USA has a president who wants to create a “hyper-personalized presidency” with control from the top to the bottom. The leaders have a “shockingly similar worldview,” she argues.

For her, it is also clear that Trump wants to have a close relationship with Putin.”

    1. Just as I suspected, Putler is helping Trump consolidate his power, but wants favors in return to help take Ukraine and divide Europe.
Love is starting to bloom, damn it…

  23. “The US government strongly reacts to the EU’s billion-dollar fines against Apple and Meta. In a statement on Wednesday, the White House called the sanctions a ‘new form of economic extortion’ and warned that the US will not tolerate them, reports Reuters.”

  24. “Chinese exporters are expected to turn their backs on the USA as tariffs squeeze their already thin margins.

Jenny Huang is a salesperson at a Chinese curtain manufacturer whose customer base is 90 percent in the USA. She told the news agency that they will stop exporting to the country until the tariff situation eases.

    – When the tariff was raised to 125 percent and then 145 percent, people decided to stop because you will die faster if you insist on staying in the USA.”

  25. Thank you Johan no 1 for perhaps your most important conclusion so far. I fully agree that Trump’s plan could be Hitler 2.0. Historically, we have difficulty learning from the past, and it is the same this time. The unlikely risks happening once again. What Trump has already accomplished and is trying to accomplish cannot be overlooked. Everything is moving very quickly because it is not intended for there to be a new election in the USA, why would he risk someone else stopping what he wants to do? It is extremely important that you also spread this in English text. Europe must wake up, and the only possibility to stop this may lie in a popular uprising within the USA. Scary to say the least, and this is not something to take lightly. Many good comments in today’s analysis.

    1. I spread and will start following this with a little more interest as a real Fanta Fuhrer in the USA could become lively.

Yes, there is certainly full speed in the comment field 😀

        1. Almost. A tedious copying and pasting back and forth because the translation plugin splits it up into every damn paragraph!

If we aim to use more English, I will probably switch to a plugin that costs a bit of money but where you can use it to translate everything and paste in the whole shebang.

  26. To any English-speaking visitors:
    Welcome!

Just want to let you know that it works fine to write in English. Even though most posts are in Swedish, most of us have no problem reading and writing in English.

  27. Strike on the temporary deployment point of the Russian Armed Forces. 🔥 Everything was destroyed. In particular, 7 vehicles burned down. Ammunition warehouses and dugouts burned down. There are dead and wounded.

  28. “Enligt preliminära uppskattningar lagrades cirka 105 000 ton ammunition på området för det 51:a GRAU-arsenalen: artillerigranater, Iskander, Tochka-U, Kinzhal-missiler, samt ammunition för luftvärnssystem.”

  29. Thank you johanno1, an interesting choice for today’s wall.

Kakistocracy is the word that I believe summarizes the American administration. The shit circus is the vulgar version in the definite form.

I stick to my assessment of Trump as an arrogant and not excessively curious or smart person. For 40 years, he has claimed that global trade exists to deceive the USA and that tariffs are what will make the USA rich and powerful.

Tariffs are what he believes in, and I am convinced that he will continue with his tariff walls, even if they are now “only” at 10%. When the dollar loses value and US securities become more expensive to issue, he will blame others/the world.

I also believe that he and his kakistocrats are convinced that Russia is the remaining remnant of old Europe with (as maga perceives it) healthy Christian values. The rest of us are destroyed by rainbow-colored liberals, a common object of hatred for maga and Russia. There is a value community between maga and what maga believes is Russia.

The Trump kakistocracy also displays classic bully behaviors when it comes to sitting on and humiliating those they do not like.

We will be fined in various ways by the USA due to fabricated debts, a bit different every day.

Now Trump thought that cowardly liberal Europe would immediately start dancing to his tune, but that has not happened – instead, the major countries have been clear that they now consider the transatlantic link to be almost broken. They have begun a massive rearmament and will buy European products first. All capitals have declared that they will never recognize Ukrainian territory as Russian. The EU has stated that they will not lift sanctions against Moscow as long as Russia is on Ukrainian soil.

On the trade side, Europe is deepening ties with other continents, including China – everyone wants trade, no tariffs.

Why is the USA doing this..? Kakistocracy is my hypothesis, they push ideological ideas and when they encounter resistance that does not give way, there will be a rant on Trump’s social media where blame is placed on various things that are always elsewhere.

Now Trump knows that he will not get Ukraine or Europe to back down. So they will soon abandon the Trump peace project. Ukraine will be smeared by Trump, but it is logical since maga would never swallow anything else.

It is an open question what will happen with support in general. Congress is bipartisan for Ukraine, which suggests that Trump will leave it be and instead intensify the quarrel with Canada. He probably cannot afford to conflict with Congress after all.

Or maybe he doesn’t care and will end the sanctions he can. Then the rest of the West will be embarrassed because our sanctions will remain, including swift of course. And that will also reflect on Congress, which has not changed its positions on the Ukraine issue. A shit circus as mentioned.

    1. Thank you, now I learned a new word!
I am inclined to agree with you, and then kakistocracy is a fitting term!

Canada or Iran may be the ones in the crosshairs after Ukraine, and for the latter, it may even be taken literally.

    2. I don’t think that democratic USA will be able to resist, but we will probably get confirmation of this already by 2025 because things are moving fast.

  30. Well written Lynx. The Trump administration is in a cultural war with the rainbow-colored Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Quite rightly so. I believe the Western world will disappear like the Roman Empire if there is no reformation. The alternative is an economic collapse a la the Great Depression of the 1930s. But with greater social unrest.

Personally, I would like to see a return to a liberal classic of the 1970s. The Western world worked well back then. Economic liberalism but no identity politics. For those unfamiliar with the concept of identity politics, you can search on Wikipedia.

    1. I understand what you mean, there are strong objections to the ideas underlying identity politics. The problem with kakistocracy is that it destroys relations with the rest of the Western world and paves the way for a backlash that is now gaining momentum with the various foolishness of the Trump administration. It simply becomes even more difficult to have a reasoned discussion about these phenomena than before (and it was already quite polarized). And it becomes easier for the Democrats to not address even the worst abuses.

      1. I can only agree. When the four years with Trump are over (if he stays that long), the Western world will be even more adrift than today. It all feels sad.

      2. There is of course a lot of truth in what you write. It can lead to even more entrenched positions where one doesn’t even want or dare to discuss issues raised by the other side.

    2. Identity politics feels like a rather broad concept. That people within a group together try to improve their situation is something we will probably never get away from. It is also not possible to claim that there is no discrimination and thus there are improvements to be made. As with most things, it is about finding a reasonable level and not dismissing all equality work just because some aspects may seem exaggerated.

This is from today, and perhaps not an example of discrimination, but it shows that women still are not treated as equals by everyone here in Sweden:

“A lay judge at Södertörn District Court is asked to leave his position after several in the court have complained about inappropriate behavior. On one occasion, he is said to have called a court reporter ‘the maid’ and on another occasion, he is said to have called a court clerk ‘little lady’, reports P4 Stockholm.”
      https://omni.se/namndeman-sparkad-kallade-kollega-for-pigan/a/dR9r3O

      1. Absolutely right MXT, what I find toxic about identity politics is that it tries to address this by simply put 1) grouping everyone together and 2) solely focusing on innate attributes like gender or skin color to then implement quotas so that more people with attribute X are “represented”.

I believe that it is the individual who should learn to accept others and have a good attitude, regardless of our innate characteristics. The solution cannot be to focus on innate characteristics when what we really strive for are values.

        1. This is an area that we could almost have an entire post about. Could lead to interesting discussions.

I agree that grouping people together too much can lead to completely unnecessary polarization.

However, I’m not completely against quotas if done on a smaller scale.

Take for example the issue of board positions, which are still predominantly male (and Swedish) dominated (even though it is slowly improving). How can we even get women interested (and thereby also become skilled) in industries if they see slim chances of even getting a job? The same applies, of course, to immigrants. Allowing a small part to be quota-regulated will pay off in the long run, because it’s not wise to shut out large parts of the population just because a bunch of guys are comfortable with themselves. And how will they get used to working with women and immigrants if they themselves don’t realize that it’s actually an advantage to have people with different perspectives?

Especially in entrepreneurship and ultimately in boards, things will change, both immigrants and women are damn driven and ambitious, but I couldn’t come up with another example off the top of my head.

Unfortunately, you have different opportunities depending on your skin color or gender.
It would be nice if everyone could overlook that and, as you write, focus on values instead, but we’re not there yet.

So the question is how to solve these problems? Or should we ignore it and hope it resolves itself?

      2. Was that the best example you could find of discrimination in Sweden?

One big problem we have in Sweden, by the way, is that when one starts to feel threatened, tolerance disappears. It only works as long as groups feel they can afford to be generous.

Today, unfortunately, many groups probably feel disadvantaged in all camps.

Comparing it to all the countries I’ve lived in, Sweden is an absolute wonder of tolerance.

        1. No, that just happened to pop up on Omni today. It wasn’t the best example but very fresh!

What do you think, do we not need to do anything about discrimination because we are already the best in the world at being tolerant?

        2. I think that older, overweight players without ball sense are discriminated against in the selection for the national football team. But I am patient and bide my time.

  31. “In the financial markets, no brand can be compared to the US Treasury bonds… We are putting that brand at stake,” says Ken Griffin, founder and CEO of Citadel, one of the world’s leading alternative investment firms, from the stage during the Semaphore 2025 World Economy Summit in Washington, as reported by Fortune.”

    1. When the bonds started being sold off, I heard through the grapevine that it was American funds that initiated it.

It’s worth pondering, the USA has a gigantic national debt but it had not yet affected the interest rates on the loans that the USA takes out to finance it. But now we see that Trump’s policies increase the risk for all investors and thus the USA’s costs for borrowing for the national debt.

  32. If I understand this correctly, it is the turn of the USA or perhaps rather Russia to respond after Ukraine has made changes to the peace agreement (or is it about the mineral agreement?).

“A new peace document after the meeting in London is on Trump’s table. Everything that contradicts our Constitution cannot be in any agreements, – Zelensky. Other statements of the president:

▪️Today’s missile strike is an attempt by the Russian Federation to put pressure on the United States

We were attacked, we were occupied, many children and adults were buried alive. This is a big compromise that we are ready to sit down at the negotiating table with terrorists.

We removed everything that does not comply with our Constitution from the agreement with the United States on minerals.

▪️If Russia declares that it is ready for a ceasefire, it needs to stop mass strikes on Ukraine, because the Ukrainians will lose patience.”

    1. I guess it turned out to be a rather short document. Perhaps so short that Trump’s attention span is enough to read through it.

We’ll see now if Trump starts rambling about the absence of cards again, on his “untruth antisocial” platform.

  33. 227 have responded to the survey and about half have answered like this to the question of whether they believe there will be a peace agreement:

NO, the USA withdraws all support to Ukraine, stops exports, and benefits Russia, removes sanctions, and resumes trade.

So far, there is nothing contradicting that this will be the outcome.

We’ll see if we are right, if “Power of the crowd” applies to us who are here!

  34. Previously, there were no major problems, but now that his beloved peace agreement is threatened, he suddenly thinks that Putin should stop the attacks. Still nice that he didn’t accuse Ukraine.

“US President Donald Trump writes on Truth Social that he is “not pleased” with Russia’s latest attacks on Kyiv.
“Not necessary – and very bad timing. Vladimir, stop!” he writes.
At least nine people were killed and over 70 were injured in a major Russian missile attack on Kyiv on Thursday morning.”
    https://omni.se/trump-om-ryska-attackerna-vladimir-sluta/a/GyA59q

    1. When he starts sounding like Uncle Barbro towards Moscow, I interpret it as directed towards the stomach. It could be a sign in the sky, and if so, maybe Trump will be satisfied with barking and leave the sanctions in place (as well as the leadership support).

But of course, I want it to be that way, so my hypothesis has a lot of bias ;).

  35. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ordered all Pakistani citizens to leave the country after the attack in Kashmir, reports AFP.

Modi has promised to punish those responsible for the attack in which 26 civilians were killed. He has accused Pakistan of backing the attack and supporting “terrorism across the border.”

    – India will identify, locate, and punish all terrorists and those who support them. We will chase them to the ends of the earth, Modi said on Thursday.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has said that any threats from India against their sovereignty will be met with “strong responses.”

  36. A bit ironic that it’s now pro-Trump accounts that are being silenced when they criticize Musk.
I’m pretty sure that’s why my regular posts (if not more retweets like they do with, for example, the loss report) only get 50 – 150 views (with 10,500 followers).

“Several right-wing profiles that criticized Elon Musk in December suddenly received significantly fewer views on his platform X, reports The New York Times. In some cases, the reach almost disappeared.

Despite promises of freedom of speech, Musk has hinted that reach may decrease for those who are blocked or silenced by influential accounts, including his own. One of those affected, the controversial right-wing commentator Laura Loomer, estimates that she lost around $50,000 in revenue during the period she was suspended from X Premium, she told the newspaper.”

  37. India – Pakistan is escalating rapidly now.

Pakistan has closed its airspace and India’s aircraft carrier is heading towards the country.

The quick-witted realize that JD Vance visited India a few days ago after killing the Pope, so some mischief is definitely afoot.

I honestly expected India to sit out this global conflict but my goodness, what a global escalation it would be if these two openly start a war 😶

    1. What the hell, I had missed that when I was in the garage. It’s not the first time they’ve fought, but there’s probably a risk that it will escalate.
Vance should be banned, seems to be a traveling salesman in death.

  38. On the global escalation stage we now have –

-full global trade war initiated by Fanta Fuhrer.

-Russian escalation most recently in the autumn.

    -India-Pakistan.

    -possible war with Iran

-China has increased exercises against Taiwan.

Starting to look quite dark on the horizon to say the least 😶

  39. These damn translation programs, dealing with something that takes 1500 words and apparently I write a lot because it ends up being copy and paste 10 times for one post, takes its time 😶

Then the translation is always crap so you have to spend 1.5 hours polishing the post before you can publish it, all unpaid but during paid working hours 😭

    1. You’re doing fine, while I have to pay with my own time!

Swish, which can be donated through, only works in Sweden. Most people in Sweden are probably not so interested in our opportunities to translate into English, but I hope that doesn’t stop anyone from donating! 😂

        1. No, it was about the link not seeming to work on all mobile phones, but one can always do just as before, and Swish the donation to the phone number.
If you have Swish, you can donate.

Hmm, by the way, it could of course be some individuals who do not have Swish installed and who thought it would work anyway. I haven’t thought about that. Maybe I have to write something about needing to have the Swish app installed first.

            1. Not right now, is there any specific variant you would like to use?
I’m considering implementing Paypal in the future, as they handle credit cards, would that work for you?

              1. I haven’t checked Paypal. I’m so old-fashioned that account, card, and gold coins like Pippi Longstocking is what has applied. But Paypal and cards should work fine.

                1. 👍 Then I will look into such a solution, but it might take a while before it’s in place!

  40. “Paasikivi: ”The Russians are happy to kill Ukrainians – sometimes they succeed”

    – They want to present an image from the Russian side that the war is going their way. And they have found support for this with Trump, says Paasikivi, who notes that the US president is repeating pure Russian rhetoric.

Cynically, the bombings also become ”good TV”.

    – Because then Trump will repeat that all Ukrainian cities are destroyed, which is not true”

Paasikivi has done a tremendous amount to ensure that Sweden continues to support the EU. I hope he receives some recognition if he hasn’t already.

Now that we have declared the entire world, and especially Trump, as idiots, perhaps it’s time for some introspection.
There is a proposal to allow on-farm sales of alcohol, but now the Public Health Agency has become involved and, in the usual manner, turned something positive into something negative.
Before each sale, there must be a 45-minute lecture, information must be provided on the harmful effects of alcohol, and the sales location must distribute a brochure on the harmful effects of alcohol.
I am eagerly anticipating whether they plan to implement this even in the country’s bars and liquor stores?
The blog’s Friday intoxication will probably also face restrictions.
Are we driving on the wrong side of the road and surrounded by idiots?

    1. Oh no, I had planned for us to start selling virtual beer here on Fridays.
Now I have to put together a presentation that you will be forced to listen to as well?

By the way, this must also apply to the state-owned alcohol retail store, the ones selling such huge quantities?
“Welcome, before you can shop, please have a seat and listen to this lecture.”

Yes, in this case, it feels like we have hit rock bottom.
One could almost think they’ve looked too deeply into the bottle…

    2. See that – DDR Sweden has not completely died out apparently, it’s somewhat absurd what one considers themselves able to decide on as a tax-money-sucking employee of the OSS.

Was something about thousands getting secretly taken samples by doctors and that the transport agency revoked their driver’s licenses for them a while ago – if you drink you shall be punished apparently.

  42. “Cybersecurity expert André Carty believes he has an idea of who is behind Wednesday evening’s DDoS attack on BankID. In an interview with TV4 News, he says it is a “reasonable assumption” that it is Russia, even though it cannot be confirmed at this time.

Carty says the guess is based on previous experiences.

    – I’m putting my money on Russia. I have no reason to assume anything else until proven otherwise.”

    1. Some combination of getting drunk and writing at the same time?

I’ve read about the assistance companies and made the mistake of googling – 700,000 people live in “especially vulnerable areas” where the legal system does not reach.

Unfortunately, this will be a post about this so I don’t have a heart attack 😭

Then I’m working on the damn Trump post English version – really hate that language…

But first, let’s have some Friday drinks 😀

    2. Everything goes towards building a nuclear power plant to be able to run the server when we finally get those 3 million visitors per minute that Johan is talking about!

For my part, I spend too much time today to make it work economically, but if it’s possible to get some donations, it enables us to continue with both content and building further features on the site. As for today’s posts, so far it’s just defeat reports for me, where I would like to have time to write some other articles, both in-depth ones related to the war but possibly also other subjects.
The comments with ongoing news are currently what takes a lot of time.

(I don’t have the advantage that Johan has, to be able to sit paid at work and work on the blog, I pay myself.)

      1. It was a slightly better answer maybe 😶

Well, MXT is the one working hourly and going negative, I can hide a full-time job in the full-time job for a few months more👍

  43. Trump seems to have woken up on the wrong side today.

“The business newspaper Wall Street Journal has reported during the day that China expects the US to back down in the tariff conflict between the countries. Now, President Donald Trump responds with acerbic attacks against the newspaper.

“It sucks!” he writes in a post on his platform Truth Social, which he begins with a call to media mogul Rupert Murdoch to shut down Fox News opinion polls:

“While he’s at it, he should make changes to the China-loving Wall Street Journal.”

  44. “I have my own deadline” and then he lives in the delusion that Putin will obey!

“US President Donald Trump believes that both Ukraine and Russia must come to the negotiating table. Both sides want peace, claims Trump at the meeting in the White House with the Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Norway.

Regarding when the peace negotiations need to be completed, Trump says:

    – I have my own deadline.
Earlier in the day, Trump urged Vladimir Putin to stop the air attacks on Ukraine. Now Trump says he believes that the Russian leader will listen to this.”

  45. Westley Richard

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson condemned the U.S. government’s reported peace proposal for Ukraine on April 24, calling it a reward for aggression after a Russian missile attack killed at least 12 civilians and injured 90 in Kyiv.

Johnson, once a vocal supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to end the war, criticized the reported terms of the plan as deeply flawed.
    https://kyivindependent.com/boris-johnson-blasts-trump-peace-plan-after-russian-strikes-kill-civilians-in-kyiv/

Boris has always stood by Ukraine’s side and is probably in the process of reassessing his views on Trump.

    1. That will have a good impact in the long run. Gop will be isolated among their former peers if they were to let Trump’s peace plan become a reality.

  46. We’ll see how the Friday negotiation goes tomorrow, the goal is always a bottle of Leyenda and then you’ll be happy if you also get two beers, anything is better than nothing.

    1. Here is ÖB (the user’s name) super cold and I feel like there is some mischief going on for my part as well.

Some claim that cognac is good for a cold so I might aim for that tomorrow! 😀

  47. There are probably some minerals in Sweden that the USA doesn’t have larger quantities of, including Titanium. And there is certainly a lot of unexplored territory there yet.

  48. Of course! Russia has been so humane, kind-hearted, and restrained by not conquering all of Ukraine, of course they must be allowed to keep Crimea and the four oblasts!
I believe that none of the explanations for Trump’s behavior that we have discussed today are accurate.

He must simply be completely stupid.

“Russia has ‘made a pretty big concession’ by stopping themselves from conquering all of Ukraine, says US President Donald Trump in front of the press at the White House.”
    https://omni.se/a/KMAlw7

  49. “Den svenska varumärket Ericsson förlorade sina rättigheter nu i mars, och varumärket är nu registrerat under det ryska företaget Rusklimat:”

    1. Lammis watching ruzzian empire go BOOM

It was me! Tried to make a comment here earlier today regarding NordStream, but it doesn’t show up… Registered here today – hello everyone! (if this shows up….?)

  50. There is another aspect to Trump.
He IS Russian. Those of you who have seen the movie SALT with Angelina Jolie know what I’m talking about.
A planted Russian, already in the 40-50s, who has climbed a bit in his career (well…) and bided his time for “D” day – a Russian takeover of the USA.
From that perspective, Trump’s actions become much more understandable.

And before you start howling about “we know where Trump grew up,” etc… consider that what we think we know is only what we HAVE been told – the official version. We only know what someone/some want us to know.
