Massive drone attack against Russia – Heat power plant has exploded in Russian Sakhalin – Belgorod dam still not repaired

Ukraine’s drone attack

Ukraine carried out a massive drone attack last night on several cities in Russia, Moscow, Volgograd, Rostov, Tula, and others. Unfortunately, it has not been revealed whether any of the drones reached their target. Russia is cracking down harder on those who release videos of successful Ukrainian attacks and has, among other things, shut down the mobile network in several areas, mainly around the areas with major refineries. We will see if there will be more news during the day.

Power plant exploded in Sakhalin

A power plant has exploded on the island of Sakhalin. Half of the island is without electricity, and the capital also lacks water.
The cause of the explosion is unknown, and considering that Sakhalin is on the other side of Russia, almost 7000 km from Ukraine, it was probably not Ukrainian drones. However, it is not entirely impossible that it was sabotage. During the war in Ukraine, we have seen numerous examples of other types of sabotage, mainly against railways and transformer stations, so it is not entirely unlikely. Or maybe it was just some Russian who had bad luck while smoking.

Russian positions below the Belgorod Dam hit by “moisture damage”

The Belgorod Dam in Russia, which was damaged and began to release water, has not yet been repaired, and the area below the dam is increasingly flooded. There are pictures and videos from waterlogged areas with flooded equipment and impassable transport routes. It is difficult to say if this has any major impact on their combat capability in the area. From many videos that have been seen, it seems that the Russians are accustomed to floods and may have no problem walking in mud and sludge. Hopefully, Ukraine can gain a slight advantage.

More Russian misfortune

A floating crane overturned in Sevastopol Bay, rumored to have 1-2 dead and about twenty injured. The crane apparently was not fully assembled, and the plan was to dismantle it into parts to then complete it elsewhere. Now some other crane will have to lift that crane.

      1. Speaking of Sakhalin. There is resistance against Putin in that region. Especially in Khabarovsk but also in Vladivostok. Large demonstrations a couple of years ago. Governor Sergey Furgal was sentenced to over 20 years in prison for daring to criticize Putin’s rule in Moscow.

    1. From a strong push back to a huge push in Pokrovsk with surrounding front sections.

  2. Some of the sources for today’s post:

“A floating crane capsized in the Southern Bay of Sevastopol during cargo lifting Presumably, this is the unfinished heavy floating crane PC-700 “Grigory Prosyankin” by Sevmorzavod. It was planned to be cut into parts and transported for completion in Russia in Severodvinsk.”

  3. Was it perhaps the Russians who tested how easy it is to knock out Stockholm’s power supply? 🤔

“A technical fault in a power cable was behind the major power outage in central Stockholm on Monday evening. Ellevio writes in a press release. Over 21,000 subscribers in Södermalm and Gamla stan were affected by the outage which lasted for two and a half hours.

    – Technical circumstances made the fault more extensive than it should have been, says Christian Skoglund, head of operations at Ellevio.”
    https://omni.se/tekniskt-fel-bakom-stora-stromavbrottet-i-stockholm/a/pPJ5L1

Then we had this a few days ago, not the Russians, but it shows how incredibly sensitive it is.
Of course, everyone who has been traveling by train for a long time knows this, some transformer station acting up, or some wiring fault and you have to sit there for a couple of hours and wait.

A few explosions in the right places and you will be able to stop all train connections.

“There are major disruptions in train traffic between Gothenburg and Alingsås, several media outlets report. Västtåg between the cities cannot operate due to a power failure in Lerum. Even SJ’s trains between Gothenburg and Stockholm have to take a detour.

During the evening, technicians found the fault. During track work, a cable had been severed, Gothenburgs-Posten reports. The fault is not expected to be rectified until Monday morning.”

  4. “🇺🇦 Zelensky:

▪️We are increasing the grouping near Pokrovsk. The city is the main target of Russians today.

▪️We have provided about 70% of the funds needed for gas imports. The situation with electricity is stabilizing, the most difficult is in Shostka”.

▪️I am conducting three parallel conversations about aircraft – with the Swedes, the French and the Americans. The general request for the future of our combat aviation is a fleet of 250 new aircraft.

▪️The US decision will affect Russian oil exports by 56-57%.

▪️If Putin does not sit down at the negotiating table, sanctions are needed. The supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine is also possible.

▪️Trump plans a conversation with China on October 30. This could be an important step if Beijing reduces energy imports from Russia.

    1. Pokrovsk is Ukrainian! It succeeds for a few motorcycles to speed into town and hide! Sending suicide mission info to the ryzzen who can use it for their propaganda as useful idiots spread! Kenneth Gregg is in Pokrovsk and reporting accurate information directly via FB.
Ukraine has calculated that they need 250 planes to keep the ryzzen at bay, which is good input for NATO. By joining NATO, we can save money for the Ukrainian people, who can reduce their spending to only 5% like the rest of us NATO countries!
Regarding SAAB, NO ONE has said that it’s allowed to sell JAS planes to Ukraine (only LOI)! Evidently, there are pilots who have been trained and JAS planes have been stationed in Poland without any issues on NATO missions? It can be solved in Ukraine, right? Shouldn’t we have been able to contribute already with 7 older Gripen planes as we said 2-3 years ago?
The USA is causing trouble, so it takes time to clean up the GE engine, etc.

  5. ▪️If Putin does not sit down at the negotiating table, sanctions are needed. The supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine is also possible. Is it moving forward, backward? Not long ago it was about an actual delivery, now a possibility.

▪️Trump plans a conversation with China on October 30. This could be an important step if Beijing reduces energy imports from Russia. So it is no longer a reverse Kissinger* (Kissinger*: US friendship with China during KK to loosen the ties between China and the Soviet Union), but a fair deal.

    1. As long as one only talks and doesn’t act, it unfortunately becomes Maskirovka!
TACO turns around at the door as soon as he has spoken with #fckptn
Hard to believe any of these liars!

  6. “Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is ready for peace talks anywhere in the world, except for Belarus and Russia, reports The Guardian.

At the same time, he emphasizes that Ukraine will not take a step back or give up any territories.

In a comment to AFP, the president also says that Ukraine needs economic support from Europe to be able to continue resisting the Russian invasion in the next three years.

    – I emphasized this again to all European leaders. I told them that we will not fight for decades, but you must show that for a certain period of time you will be able to provide Ukraine with stable economic support, he says in a comment.”

  7. The Ukrainian intelligence service HUR reported in a post on Telegram that they have taken out two Russian radar systems and a missile launcher for air defense missiles in the eastern Donbas region, according to Kyiv Independent.

The newspaper has not been able to verify the images, and there has been no statement from the Russian side yet. However, this is not uncommon. Ukraine and Russia rarely admit to losses of military systems or setbacks in the war.

According to the Ukrainian public service company Suspilne, the destroyed missile launcher was said to have been used for Russian S-300V missiles.

  8. Great that you brought up Kissinger. It was indeed a result of the so-called “ping-pong diplomacy”. The Table Tennis World Championships took place in Japan in 1971 with a Swedish winner in the singles, Stellan Bengtsson. The Chinese invited the American table tennis team to China, and I remember it was a huge sensation worldwide. The following year, Nixon/Kissinger visited Mao/Zhou Enlai in Beijing. The meeting resulted in friendlier relations between the countries and ended China’s long isolation. A couple of years later, diplomatic relations were established (1979). China’s “great leap” had begun.

  9. No personal data seems to have leaked after the data breach against the Swedish National Grid, reports Ekot. An examination of the hacked server shows that it has not contained that type of information, says Cem Göcgören, Chief Information Security Officer at the Swedish National Grid.

He states that no information that could harm the electricity supply should have leaked either.”

  10. There aren’t that many hacker attacks on the site but here is the top list of the countries that have attempted in the last seven days.

USA has probably read my anti-Trump posts! 😂

Sad to see Ukraine on the list… On the other hand, it wouldn’t surprise me if there are still some Russian-controlled servers in Ukraine.

  11. Off-Topic, Jamaica

In a few hours, Melissa is expected to reach land, fingers crossed that Jamaica won’t be as severely affected as feared.

“Hurricane Melissa has continued to increase in strength and is now the most powerful storm on Earth in 2025, reports CNN. Melissa reached level 5 yesterday, the highest classification, and is expected to cause great devastation.

According to the US National Hurricane Center, wind speeds of up to 280 kilometers per hour were recorded on Monday, with even stronger gusts.

It is not known exactly how or when the powerful hurricane will hit Jamaica. According to Sky News, Melissa has changed course and moved slightly westward. This could mean that it reaches Jamaica a little later, which could be good news for the residents as it would then hit during daylight instead of at night.”

So far, it’s relatively calm, but Flatbridge has disappeared under water, although apparently it’s not uncommon.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4Lt_iev8x4

You can see a few cars and people out, it’s windy and rainy, and a few branches have fallen. The hurricane seems to have slowed down more than initially thought. Unfortunately, this will probably mean that the amount of rain will be enormous.

  12. A bit more about the 250 planes that Ukraine is planning for.

“Ukraine Plans 250-Aircraft Fleet, Prioritizes Swedish Gripens – Zelensky
Zelensky said Ukraine is negotiating three types of fighters – F-16s, Gripens, and Rafales – based on the experience of Ukrainian pilots and Russia’s military capabilities.”
    https://www.kyivpost.com/post/63097

    1. I was a bit surprised last week when Zelensky was in Linköping and signed a memorandum of understanding with Sweden/Saab. Not because Ukraine chose Saab, as that was expected, but because the day after they tried, through Belgium, to release frozen Russian funds to finance the Gripen, among other things.
Here, I think Zelensky had to include other alternatives to the Gripen for the EU to be satisfied. Not forgetting Trump.

      1. You probably have a point there.

He shortly after announced the purchase of Lynx from Rheinmetall as well, and that was probably to get the Germans on board.

        1. Yes, that’s probably the case. Strange choice anyway. I believe the Germans have sent Marder to Ukraine, but not Lynx. Lynx has probably had big problems. I think they all had to be sent home during a NATO exercise. Happened four or five years ago.

          1. Oh no, then we’ll have to hope they’ve managed to sort out the problems now.

The CV-90 would probably have been better, but of course it’s a bit older.

            1. It is important to spread the orders to different countries. Rheinmetall would probably establish an industry in Ukraine. I suppose it’s easier for Ukraine to choose German then. I think the CV 90 is a bit better anyway but it’s not owned by a Swedish company. BAE is probably half British and half American.

    1. Sir – RU has just landed a lot of transport planes in Venezuela.

In terms of provocation, is it really much less than sending in a lot of green men in the Baltics?

The USA usually reacts quite strongly if someone starts running in circles in their backyard.

      1. Oops, then it can get hot, and I can guess that there might be some Chinese weapons there too. They did test some weapons for real when India and Pakistan had their little skirmish here this summer, but I’m sure there are other weapons they would like to test.

  13. Russia’s parliament has on Tuesday approved a new law that means conscripts can be called in year-round, reports independent Moscow Times. Previously, physical examinations and psychological tests could only be done in connection with the two enrollment periods, one in the spring and one in the fall.

The law, which must be approved by President Putin, aims, among other things, to reduce administrative burden and reduce risks of bottlenecks during enrollment periods.

According to the newspaper, the reform is part of the Kremlin’s efforts to increase the number of soldiers that can be sent to Ukraine.

  14. “Saab has received an order for the Giraffe 1X radar system from the US Army worth 46 million dollars, equivalent to 430 million Swedish kronor.

The order was booked in the third quarter of this year and deliveries will begin next year.

The stock gets a slight push upwards on the stock market after the announcement and is up nearly 1 percent for the day around 16:40.”

  15. I saw someone asking about the hurricane – yes, it passed over us, a lot of rain but got a few days off so happy. The capital turns into a stagnant traffic mess in continuous rain so it’s important to plan your day wisely.

I have another post coming up about China and how they never start wars, and then about Milei and Bukele choosing the West so we’re growing 👍

When I’m scouring what the media writes, they don’t exactly praise Bukele and Milei for approaching the West as they should – they are both extremely popular in their countries so we should be glad that they have finally sorted things out.

Starting to worry about the fronts and Europe’s monumental reluctance to make tough decisions, now Germany is going to protect Rosneft – coming tomorrow.
