  1. As Chuck Pfarrer hinted yesterday, the Russians have gathered for a new offensive attack on Pokrovsk. Also, elsewhere, things look synchronized.

    1. POKROVSK: Russian command appears to be preparing intensified efforts; among indications noted are accumulating forces and armor for flank threats via Myrnohrad. These concentrations are indicative of a potential push toward Dobropillya north.

  2. Donald Trump has asked Vladimir Putin not to attack Kyiv until Sunday, February 1, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. However, he does not want to disclose how Russia has responded to this request.

Yesterday evening, Trump claimed that he personally asked Putin for a week-long ceasefire that, in addition to Kyiv, would also apply to several other locations.

    – And he agreed to it, said Trump.

However, it was not stated when Trump made the request.

Regardless, Kremlin’s new comments indicate that there will be no week-long and broad ceasefire in Ukraine, as also signaled by the attacks last night. Russia attacked with over 100 Russian drones and a missile tonight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

    1. Oh, so kind of them. They are probably just aiming the drones and robots at another location… If even that. On the other hand, they will probably say that the Ukrainians are warmongers because they send robots and drones at all.

    1. Ha, ha! No, haven’t invested in any cryptocurrency at all. Would have of course entered when it first came out but I don’t like things that are solely based on speculation and don’t have any underlying value otherwise. The risk is way too high that it will end in a big disappointment. Even though the technology itself is interesting.

Bitcoin is quite stable though. and probably won’t disappear, there are too many who have invested but it still mostly resembles a pyramid scheme where it’s about getting more and more people to buy in order to keep pushing up the prices.

I don’t understand those who buy into all sorts of new variants that come and go.

By the way, anyone here who bought NFTs when they were popular? Maybe holding onto some ape?

      1. hahaha – yes NFT 👍👍👍

They were bought for 100 million SEK sometimes and the value today is a few thousands, it crashed.

No – just bought Trump’s victory perfume and golden shoes.

His position in short if I understand correctly:

          • It is QE/money supply that drives inflation rather than low interest rates
          • Low interest rates are more important for the “real economy” than QE

So, I guess reduced QE/money supply plus lowered interest rates. Reduced money supply can impact asset prices quite broadly, which was probably what we saw happen…

Lower interest rates should be a positive for industry, real investments, properties

  3. Off-Topic

It’s strange that Trump doesn’t realize that when the USA mistreats those who should be their closest allies, they will turn elsewhere. Of course, it’s not good that it’s China they are courting, but unfortunately, economic gain takes precedence over most things.

“Donald Trump is not happy that the USA-allied United Kingdom is trying to thaw relations with China.

    – It would be very dangerous for them to do business with China, was Trump’s comment when asked by reporters during the premiere of the documentary film “Melania” on Thursday.

Keir Starmer is currently on a state visit to Beijing to, among other things, meet with President Xi Jinping, and so far several cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed by the countries.

Among other things, China has agreed to halve its import duties on British whisky to 5 percent and allowed British citizens to travel visa-free to China for a month.”

      1. Sure, and we are not alone in that. Everyone wants to buy cheap.

But you must still agree that Trump’s tariffs and agreements and his ability to try to use them as blackmail (and that he suddenly changes his mind) hardly makes things better, right?

International trade prefers stability. Much is traded with long-term planning to secure deliveries. Then you don’t want any sudden craziness deciding to change the conditions with a few weeks’ notice.

      2. Well, we are looking towards trading partners that are predictable, and the USA is anything but nowadays, so we should probably stay away from them.

China is not good either, but they are the ones with the manufacturing industry and raw material processing now. If only the USA would behave a bit more like a normal country, we would surely be happy to support them, but Trump has made it impossible.

If we can only get a deal with China that doesn’t drive out the little we have left here, then it will have to do. But we shouldn’t move more production there, we saw how that went.

Trump probably must have understood what could happen when he started stirring the pot, but his ego convinced him that the USA can still blackmail the world. It didn’t go so well.

        1. johanno.1337

India: don’t you take me seriously?

The EU made a significant deal with India. Hardly a country known for its staunch liberal principles, but a good relationship is probably needed there and I don’t think they are “natural enemies” in the same way as the regime in China.

          1. However, it is difficult to see that India could become a fully-fledged, somewhat better politically, alternative to China. India is chaotic at its own level and nationalistic at an almost Russian level.

    1. A lot is happening. But the stock market is still standing strong, strangely enough. I sold some shares at an all-time high today, as I thought it’s so volatile everywhere now, so something is bound to happen soon.

  4. The former Fed governor Kevin Warsh is nominated as the new head of the Federal Reserve. Donald Trump writes this on Truth Social.

Trump states in a post on the platform that he has known Warsh for a long time and that he will go down in history as “one of the great Fed chairmen, perhaps the best.”

He describes Warsh as “taken from a template” and adds that he “will never disappoint.”

        1. I don’t think Trump would have chosen him if he wasn’t sure he could control him. We’ll see if he does what makes sense or what Trump wants.

Once he’s there, he should be immune to influence from the White House, but with ICE under Trump’s command, he could potentially use Russian influence methods.

      1. The USA had the weakest job growth overall in 2025 for several years (excluding Covid).

Number of full-time employees 2016-2025 (2024 was also a poor year):

        Job vacancies 2016-2025:

        Number of job seekers 2016-2025:
        https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/unemployment-rate

The latest report from November and December shows signs of a slowdown according to The Guardian:
        https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jan/09/us-jobs-data-december-2025

Lower interest rates may possibly help to improve the situation and also reduce the costs of the national debt. At the same time, there is a risk that investors may withdraw from the USA if interest rates decrease too much.

        1. The lower the interest rates, the longer you can operate your “hot dog stand” at a loss, as you can borrow new capital. This does not mean that the optimal use of your labor is in said hot dog stand, if it cannot survive on its own, it should die. Artificial respiration with low interest rates is bad for the economy. Dismantle the central banks and let the market determine what interest rate is reasonable?

          1. Yes, it’s rarely a good idea to try to save a business on the brink with loans (regardless of low interest rates).

The idea is partly to stimulate consumption (which in turn benefits entrepreneurship and can lead to more employees) and partly to encourage investments in new projects and businesses. With lower capital costs, more people dare to invest for the future.

On the other hand, if you go too far, instead inflation will bite you in the back.

  5. Off-Topic, Israel/Palestine

Just HAMAS propaganda and nothing to believe in, many thought here.
Now the IDF themselves have come up with corresponding figures as those communicated from GAZA.
When I wrote about it, they were talking about around 50,000 civilians, now they are up to about 70,000 so it could very well be true if you include the combatants.

Approximately 2-2500 Israelis killed and 70-71,000 Palestinians killed.
Perhaps not exactly a prime example of following the principle of proportionality?

Admittedly, it was HAMAS who started with their atrocities, but do you really think that Israel’s actions were completely OK, nothing to criticize?

Those who protested were just stupid and wanted to eradicate all Jews and were also infiltrated by Russians?

“According to figures from the Israeli military, IDF, around 70,000 people have been killed in the war in Gaza, Israeli media reports. This means that the death toll matches that presented by the health department in Gaza – around 71,000 Palestinians.

Experts and organizations have previously confirmed that the health department’s figures are reliable, but Israeli officials have repeatedly questioned the numbers. The actual number of deaths in Gaza has been the subject of intense debate throughout the war.

IDF states that they are analyzing the data to investigate how many civilians and how many soldiers have been killed, Haaretz reports.”
    https://omni.se/israels-dodssiffror-samma-som-gazas-halsodepartement/a/oE6VBj

    1. What Israel should have done was to divide it into combatants and civilians – don’t understand what they are doing.

The losses of civilians are acutely high, there is no doubt about that.

    2. Damn, that was really too much hell.

I was probably of the opinion that Hamas always lies, and yes, I knew it was a lot, but I still thought it was less than what Hamas reported. Now I probably have to take the dunce cap and stand in the corner for a while.

I have always been of the opinion that it was overkill for Israel to wipe out city after city full of civilians while Hamas sat in the tunnels waiting for the world to be horrified again by Israel’s behavior.

However, I still believe that Hamas had a choice, a choice to start negotiating the release of hostages earlier, but now they chose to let Israel kill their people and destroy their cities. They claim to fight for the liberation of Palestine, but chose to let Israel erase it instead.

Hamas knew what would happen, they knew they didn’t stand a chance, they knew Israel wouldn’t give up until they got the hostages back, they chose death.

Why, to turn the world against Israel, and it did, but they didn’t count on Trump. Trump would undoubtedly bulldoze Gaza’s population into the Mediterranean for a Trump hotel on the beach, and Hamas began to fear for their own skin and had to crawl to the negotiating table.

I wonder if Hamas isn’t starting to be cornered in Gaza now, the population, those who are alive must have noticed that they are just pawns for Hamas, they don’t care about the people, only about themselves and the goal of destroying Israel.

  6. Off-Topic, space debris

Do we have any visitors from the southern part of Sweden? It’s best if you stay indoors just in case!

“There is a “small risk” of space debris falling over southern Sweden this afternoon, according to the Civil Contingencies Agency.

“The probability of damage is very low, but cannot be ruled out. Therefore, it is good to be aware of the situation,” the agency writes in a press release.

The warning mainly applies to Skåne, Blekinge, southern Småland, and certain municipalities along the Baltic Sea coast. The forecast is that the space debris will fall around 1 p.m., but the timing is uncertain.”

  7. Now apparently the whole market can be moved.

If you are part of the group that manipulates, you can probably go ahead and sell before and buy after, so then you are satisfied?

It wasn’t that Trump’s statement about Kevin Walsh himself moved the market, it was done the day before and across all asset classes apparently because if you read different groups that follow different asset classes, they all said the same thing.

But the banks that don’t get the insider information – how big losses do you think their trading desks or whatever they are called can incur when it’s like this?

It’s not just MXT that is incurring skyrocketing losses in its crypto right now, but everyone who has dollars, stocks, gold or silver must have received an email from a higher-up about a meeting next week.

Banks can always hide it for a while but in the K2 reporting, it will be difficult?

Moreover, according to some, we are heading towards a major stock market correction in the future?

This is interesting to follow in any case – I think that the USA has rolled out an economic world war.

Who is not included and gets the insider information?

    China?

What do you think about Europe?

  8. Don’t forget to make your monthly Swish payment for the page so that MXT can afford food in February now that the entire salary was speculated away on a “roaring Easter bitcoin surge” as he wrote to me in a DM on Tuesday.

    1. I donated some money so he doesn’t have to starve, he can get a bit cranky if he goes hungry, or end up like the Gypsies’ horse, when he got used to being without food he died.

  9. Lex 2008 – you never know how deeply immersed our banks are until it crashes and they can no longer hide it in the quarterly reporting.

Then it switches over to the real economy and a major bank that has gone astray can bring down the entire country.

The banks that currently do not receive advance information about market impact must be in deep trouble, right?

  10. What happened to Friday night drinking or is everyone sitting around crying over their bitcoin portfolios?

It’s lunchtime here and I have a small list of different beers I’m going to buy on my way home.

      1. Mariestad’s and chili chips here, and on the track on TV. Have advice to watch TV now as the electricity price has dropped to 25c/kWh :-D. A bit tempted to switch from spot electricity to fixed price.

  11. I know I keep going on about “2008” but what happened then was insolvent banks socializing the losses, crashed house dreams, mass layoffs, and lots of other fun stuff, and as this starts to develop, one gets a little worried that we are heading there again.

This month’s warning list in DI, tearful articles in Aftonbladet about those who had to move, unemployed people who have applied for 200 jobs.

Then it’s sausage casserole Friday and only two beers, the worst part is just the beer 😭

    1. It’s well that 2008 has just ended.

The whole long period with zero interest rates was not normal, interest rates were lowered to boost the economy, and then “leave them on”. Good for us with mortgages, got rid of the loan a year faster than expected, yes, here in Finland we amortize our housing loans ;-).

Why didn’t it work as intended? It was hardly expected that there would be zero interest rates for 15 years. Yes, money was put in motion, but not for regular consumption that supports production and growth, but for speculation…

Is there any substance behind the stock prices we have then?, I think there is a lot of air, and a correction is probably due, it was corrected a bit when the corona hit, but recovered quickly. It could get messy ahead.

  12. Yes ok, since you asked – six-pack Stella 33cl bottles + two Corona Extra 33cl bottles, and then a 1.5l Presidente beer in case my wife feels like drinking more than those two Coronas so I have some backup.

Presidente and a few Stellas usually roll over to Saturday so I don’t have to shop, and then the fun is over.

  13. Brunch party in here I see, very good ✊✊

Do you still have snow MXT?

The monthly average electricity cost for us in SE3 turned out a bit higher than what would have been fun, but not something I was worried about.

      1. Here in the Elområde FI area, I am paying an average price of almost 14c/kWh in January, almost double compared to last year. Expecting an electricity bill of 500€.

    1. Unfortunately had to cancel the accordion music with accompanying drinks tonight. Got stuck in the bellows. Am in Brussels visiting my granddaughter’s daughter. The flight was late. But better late than never as they say on the railway. Have a nice weekend anyway.

    2. I come in late as usual, after work, Friday workout, food, etc., so I’m sitting here commenting when the rest of you have gone to bed.

Dutch people can be a bit grudgeful: https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/4086148-netherlands-plans-to-provide-over-eur-3b-in-military-aid-to-ukraine-in-20272029.html

Three billion euros for banking support to Ukraine 2027-2029, and 400 million euros for other purposes in Ukraine.

“We will continue to provide military and financial support to Ukraine for several years and will insist on the use of frozen Russian assets,” greets the incoming government.

  15. 🐻‍❄️🐼 Greenland shuffle 🇵🇦 🇨🇳 🇺🇸🇩🇰🇬🇱

The Danish shipping magnate AP Møller-Mærsk temporarily takes over as administrator of the Panama Canal, following a ruling within the Panamanian judicial system that overturned important rights for the Hong Kong-based company CK Hutchison to operate port activities in the area.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds that they intend to “resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies”.

The decision is welcomed by the United States, writes Foreign Minister Marco Rubio on X.

  16. Those of you who have expressed interest in the coin should by now have received a mailing about it, I waited to write anything before that because I think you should be the first.

The spear shaft coin is now finally available for order at https://spjutskaftet.se

Since other alternatives were requested, there are also a few more products that you might be interested in (unfortunately not manufactured in Ukraine).

NOTE! absolutely do not order anything from spjutskaftet if it means that you will donate less to Ukraine or to the volunteers who are working their tails off to help!
