  1. Another decrease in the number of attacks, mainly driven by a decrease in the attacks AFU has identified as Russian on the map. The unlocalized (possibly Ukrainian) attacks slightly increased, making up nearly half of the Russian ones. The focus, as usual, is on Pokrovsk and Huliaipole, both under heavy Russian attack pressure.

  2. Considerably cheaper to bomb the Iskander factory and the Shahed factory. Don’t know if both are reachable with Flamingos, or if Tomahawk is needed. Should one believe that Trump was close to giving/selling Tomahawk before the summit in Washington or was it never actually considered?

  3. But was Siversk really a victory for Russia? And was there more to Ukraines seeming well-planned retrograde? Was Siversk really lost owing to desultory Ukrainian command performance? Did the Russian commanders rush into another well-crafted Ukrainian trap?

    1. Comment: “

The primary reason for the withdrawal was Russian pressure, manpower, and weather conditions, according to Ukraine’s General Staff, who said the pullback was to preserve troops and combat capability

That means in territorial terms, Ukraine has ceded the city to Russian control.

Reliable reporting doesn’t support the Daily Kos…

So it’s more accurate to say Russia gained the terrain but may now face a tougher fight to exploit it fully, not that Ukraine tricked Russia.”0

Estonia detained the container ship Baltic Spirit on suspicion of smuggling. The vessel was in the country’s internal waters and had stopped for refueling.

    🚢

The ship was en route to Saint Petersburg under the flag of the Bahamas. There were 23 Russian citizens on board who did not resist during the inspection.

  5. I’m working on a thesis-length post about Epstein, so I’ve been a bit quiet, and it’s not the least bit related to Ukraine BUT it is related to the Russian security service hydra that I usually go on about.

  6. Calmer. Possibly a Russian concentration of power if one interprets the peaks with a subsequent calmer period since around the turn of the year.
