  1. “Vladimir Putin is willing to talk to France’s President Emmanuel Macron about a solution to the war in Ukraine. That’s what Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov tells state-owned Russian media.

    – Putin has said that he is ready to start a dialogue with Macron.

After Thursday’s EU summit, Macron said that he believes Europe should start talking to Putin again.

    – I think it is in the interest of both Europe and Ukraine, said the French president.”

    1. Clearly the Kremlin thinks it’s a good idea. All conversations with Russia only lead to nothing for Ukraine and Europe, possibly a symbolic exchange of dead. For Russia, they lead to escalated sanctions and increased support for Ukraine. The EU should have patience and maintain sanctions until the day Russia themselves come forward and propose talks.

  3. Off-Topic, Epstein

“The US Department of Justice has, without explanation, deleted at least 16 files from the database where the Epstein investigation has been made public, writes AP.

One of the deleted images shows a bureau full of photographs and documents. In an elongated box lies a photo of Trump and his wife Melania together with Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. That was the only picture of Trump found in the Epstein files released on Friday.

In addition, images of paintings of naked women have been deleted, writes AP.

The Democrats in the congressional oversight committee pointed out the deleted Trump image earlier in the evening.

“What else is being hidden? We need transparency towards the American people,” they write on X.

A few hours after the discovery, the image of Trump was restored. However, it was not listed on the website but is only available through its URL.”

    1. “The feeling after the US Department of Justice published the first documents from the Epstein investigation is that someone has tried to sneak out the garbage,” writes TV4 News’ Filip Jacobsson. He points out that not all material was released as promised and that many files were heavily redacted.

“The Department of Justice, through its handling, has managed to create even more suspicion, despite the goal being more transparency.”

Echo’s US correspondent Ginna Lindberg is on the same page.

“One purpose of releasing the investigation was to put an end to all conspiracy theories and draw a line. It can be noted that this has not happened,” she says. … …”

      1. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Even though everything was released today, the conspiracy theories are being fueled. The advantage is, if they delay this a little longer, there will be such a large group of people who stop trusting the ruling regime that it will eat itself up.

  4. Off-Topic, this is what happens when Trump brokers peace, who believes it would be any different in Ukraine?

“Over 500,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in Cambodia after the recent deadly border clashes with Thailand. This is reported by the country’s Ministry of the Interior, according to AFP.

“Women and children are suffering greatly because they have been forced to flee their homes and schools to escape artillery shelling, rockets, and air bombings from Thai F-16 aircraft,” the statement said.

The refugee crisis in Cambodia is the worst since the genocide of the 1970s, writes the Sunday Times. In Thailand, around 400,000 are estimated to have fled, and a total of over 40 people have been killed since the hostilities resumed two weeks ago.”

    1. I hope the world sees, because it’s a peace like this that Trump will bring out in Ukraine. Calm for a short period and then the powder keg explodes again.

  5. During the night to Sunday, the Swedish Customs Service, together with the Coast Guard, boarded the Russian ship Adler, which is anchored off the coast of Höganäs, as reported by P4 Malmöhus.

“The ship has been stationary due to an engine problem since Saturday morning. The reason for the conducted ‘customs inspection’ was that the Russian ship voluntarily contacted the Swedish Maritime Administration about its engine failure.

    – We know that the ship and its owner are on sanctions lists in several countries because they are suspected of previously transporting military equipment, so there is also such a reason, says Martin Höglund, press officer at the Swedish Customs Service, to P4.

The inspection of the ship is still ongoing and it has reportedly proceeded calmly, according to customs.”

      1. Good question.

I have checked a bit about what applies.

It completely depends on where it is located and which rules and agreements apply.
It is very difficult to do anything with a ship in international waters.

Now we have a bit of a special situation. The ship is in Swedish waters but there is no international water nearby either because we border directly with Denmark.

However, the traffic lane via agreements, etc. is to be considered as international waters. There are international rules that apply to maritime transport through narrow straits.

Therefore, Sweden and Denmark simply cannot stop ships as they please.

Now they have asked for help themselves and we have been welcomed on board, but normally we are not allowed to use that as an excuse for anything other than helping them. If you go on board to look for something to accuse them of, it is actually not allowed and difficult to maintain legally.

On the other hand, the ship is sanctioned and has been suspected of smuggling weapons.

Very difficult to say what we are actually allowed and not allowed to do and if we can actually tow them to port and retain it. Finland went there when they did it.

Sanctions are not a basis for seizing the ship (so the USA is breaking the laws when they take Venezuela’s tankers).

Something that can be the basis for seizing or at least forcing it to port is:

        Lack of insurance
If the ship has such deficiencies that it is a risk to continue (taking in water, engine failure, etc.)
        Risk of major oil spills

It is therefore about maritime safety. When it comes to crime prevention (if they are smuggling weapons), it seems much more difficult to actually do something if they are not within “pure” Swedish waters where our laws fully apply.

    1. I hope they have thoroughly searched for drones and other types of weapons. That scrap heap is well positioned to also threaten Denmark in various ways. One can become a bit suspicious about engine failure considering where it occurs…

    2. What should have been done is to suggest (you can’t blackmail them) that they be towed into a Swedish port if they want help. Then Swedish laws would have applied fully.

Now maybe they started with that, and they refused. We are obligated to help ships in distress so unfortunately there is not much that can be done in that case.

Unless you are the USA of course, then apparently you do as you please.🤷‍♂️

  7. So it wasn’t D but DoJ who released everything about Epstein?

Poorly handled, really poorly handled – hard to see how it could have been done worse

    1. Failures in many ways. They were supposed to release everything on Friday, but they haven’t done that either.
Hundreds of pages that are completely blacked out, etc. etc.

But one understood, of course, that it wouldn’t reveal anything at all the moment Trump finally agreed to its release.

A bit pathetic, by the way, when the White House tried to shift focus by posting a picture of Clinton alone in a pool. Almost as if that would be more sensational than all the pictures of Trump with Epstein and young girls.

  8. Intensive in Pokrovsk.

    #Pokrovsk December 21, 2025

Over the course of two minutes, the enemy launched nearly 20 attack UAVs at the paratroopers. All of this happened with minimal intervals – an average of 1 every 3 seconds.

  9. 🔥🔥Southern supply line – cut. A key Russian railway hub in the Rostov-on-Don region is paralyzed. ATESH partisans sabotaged the route near Baitesk. Military equipment, ammo, troops – stuck on the rails.”

  10. “A Russian group of over 10 tried to sneak into Sotnytsky Kozachok on the Zolochiv axis (Kharkiv region border), moving in tight formation “goose-style.” The attempt ended in total failure as the entire group was eliminated by Ukrainian forces.”

  11. Off-Topic, Israel

Reminiscent of Putin and Russia’s rhetoric where historical rights are referred to in order to justify illegal occupation. Perhaps not the best way to act if one wants to live in peace with their neighbors.

“Israel’s security cabinet has approved 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, reports AFP. A total of 69 settlements, which are illegal under international law, have now been approved in the past three years.

‘We will continue to develop, build, and settle in our ancestors’ land, believing that our path is right,’ said Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in a statement.

During the fall, Israeli settler activity has intensified in the West Bank, including in East Jerusalem, the UN confirms. Between June and September, over 20,000 new homes were approved in occupied areas.”
