Trump is thus getting upset about Ukraine because Putin called and claimed, and complained, that Ukraine would have attacked his residence?
It’s completely OK for Russia to bomb civilian homes in Ukraine, but if Ukraine were to bomb Putin’s residence, then he gets angry?
There is either something seriously wrong with Trump, or Putin has leverage on him, it can’t be explained in any other way.
“Donald Trump has commented on Russia’s claim that Ukraine tried to attack Putin’s summer residence, several media outlets report.
– It’s not good, I don’t like it. It makes me very angry, he says.
Trump says that it is “possible” that the claim is false, but adds:
– But President Putin told me this morning that it happened […] We will find out.
The Ukrainian government strongly denies the Kremlin’s claim. They call it an attempt to undermine peace talks and a fabricated pretext for new Russian attacks on Ukrainian government buildings.
Furthermore, Trump says that he and Putin had a “productive” conversation, but that some “very tricky” questions remain.”
“The Kremlin’s claim that Ukraine attacked Putin’s summer residence is a common Russian tactic: to accuse others of something one is planning to do oneself. This is written by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha on X.
‘Firstly, Russia has already attacked a Ukrainian government building this year. Secondly, Ukraine only attacks legitimate military targets on Russian soil in response to Russian attacks,’ he said.
Russia’s accusations are only aimed at creating false justifications for further attacks on Ukraine, writes Sybiha, calling on the world to condemn them.
At the same time, Putin announces that Russia will ‘review its negotiating position’ after the alleged attack, without going into details.”

NOT a condemnation of the recent days’ massive Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine over Christmas but a claim from the Kremlin that one of the Tsar’s palaces has been attacked, then the alarm bells start ringing.
The fool is simple-minded and Putin knows he can make him believe any tall tale.
Yes, unfortunately it seems so.

Off-Topic USA – Venezuela
USA has now seriously initiated an illegal, unprovoked, albeit low-intensity war.
It is likely also a civilian port, if so, it is a war crime.
I wonder if they are hoping for Venezuela to attack, so it can escalate into full war.
Perhaps we will soon see a false-flag operation.
Russia used the excuse that they had to save Russians in Donbas, the USA uses the excuse that they are at war against drugs.
“USA has carried out a first attack on land in Venezuela, says Donald Trump according to Reuters.
– There was a large explosion in a port area where they load ships with drugs, he says and continues:
– We hit the boats, and now we hit the area […] It is the implementation area. That’s where they implement, and it’s no longer there.
It is unclear exactly what he is referring to. He does not want to disclose whether it was the CIA or someone else who carried out the attack, but says he “knows exactly who it was”.
Trump has previously given the CIA the green light to carry out operations on land in Venezuela.”
https://omni.se/kryptiskt-uttalande-fran-trump-vi-slog-till-hart/a/pBLb7V
According to which laws is it OK to kill suspected drug smugglers even if there were convincing evidence?
When it comes to evidence, it seems to be completely lacking in these cases, at least none has been presented.
Should be fairly easy to pick up parts of the cargo after the attacks.
“The USA has carried out a new attack on what they claim is a ‘drug boat,’ several media outlets report.
The attack took place in the eastern Pacific Ocean and two people were killed, according to the US Southern Command, AP reports.
This is the 30th boat attack that has been carried out. In total, 107 people are reported to have been killed.”
https://omni.se/ny-amerikansk-batattack-i-stilla-havet-tva-doda/a/d4OPGJ
It’s probably time for a condemnation in the UN soon, I think, even if the UN has no power, it should make ordinary Americans feel that something is wrong. It’s becoming a long list of crimes they have committed against Venezuela lately.
– Sailing around and sinking boats, without even attempting to board them, now even in the Pacific Ocean.
– Bombing survivors to not leave witnesses.
– Hijacking oil tankers.
– Bombing the export port.
And besides, the country’s president brags about it on TV and social media.
Admittedly, Venezuela is a failed state, due to their notoriously bad leaders and US sanctions, and sure, they nationalized oil production about 25 years ago, but that doesn’t give the US the right to kill their population however they want. Drug smugglers wouldn’t have a market if the US would take better care of its own population, and if doctors would stop prescribing fentanyl left and right so that those who come in with migraines come out drug-dependent.
Furthermore, I want to remember that it is a very small part of all drugs going to the USA that goes through Venezuela.
Instead, I believe it’s more about not wanting China (and Russia) so close. The oil is said to be thick and therefore expensive to extract.
Another motive may be that they want someone who can boost the economy in Venezuela to reduce migration pressure.
“Ukraine’s President Zelensky wants foreign troops in Ukraine to maintain a peace agreement, he says according to The Guardian.
– I believe that the presence of international troops is a real security guarantee, a reinforcement of the guarantees that our allies already offer us.
Last week, NATO chief Mark Rutte told the German Bild that several European countries are willing to send soldiers to Ukraine if the Kremlin were to break a ceasefire.
The Kremlin reiterated yesterday the message that all foreign troops in Ukraine will be seen as legitimate military targets.”
I can’t figure this out. All bombing raids against drug boats seem to take place in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Venezuela has no coastline there. And now we find out that the USA has conducted a military operation in a port in Venezuela, in the Atlantic Ocean, where it is claimed that the drug boats are loaded. How do these small boats end up in the Pacific Ocean?
They might be sneaking through the Panama Canal. Or they might take a little detour around the Cape of Good Hope. (To avoid detection.)
Certainly, it’s possible if you really want to!
Nordwest Passage if it were summer could be navigable. Otherwise, they might sail on the dew (not the day) the humidity is high there.
The USA controls the Panama Canal. The Cape of Good Hope seems unrealistic. Rather Cape Horn, which is 10,000 km shorter (destination Southern California). Or maybe the Northwest Passage (destination Northern California), which is a whole 17,000 km shorter. It does pass Greenland, but Trump doesn’t have control over that.
Northwest Passage! Didn’t think of that.
I’ve heard it can typically be very harsh weather and sea conditions around Cape Horn. Not ideal for a small fishing boat. Must think about safety.
No. Not very good weather normally. However, you can sail inside the Magellan Strait. Tricky there too with the tidal currents and often fog. But you avoid the strong westerly winds. Sailing ships never took the shortcut through the Magellan Strait as it was too narrow to make course changes. The Roaring Forties, the Furious Fifties (sometimes the Howling Fifties), and the Screaming Sixties were the sailors’ names for the latitudes. After the sound of the wind in the rigging.
“The meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not lead to any significant progress. This suggests that a peace agreement in Ukraine is still far away, writes New York Times Constant Méheut.
However, a deadlock in the talks can be seen as a minor success. One of Zelensky’s main goals is to prevent the negotiations from collapsing, according to Méheut.
“After the meeting, Trump signaled that he would continue to participate in the negotiations – a victory for Ukraine considering his repeated threats to withdraw,” he writes.
At the same time, the meeting was one of the better ones they have had, writes CNN’s Clare Sebastian.
Despite this, Trump’s rhetoric indicated that his approach is to put pressure on Ukraine while appeasing Moscow. Sebastian points to Trump’s comments on territorial issues. He said that territory could still be conquered in the coming months and asked, “Is it better for you to make a deal now?”
“It was a formulation that eerily resembled the one used by Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov when summarizing a conversation between President Vladimir Putin and Trump,” Sebastian writes.”
“Britain can no longer rely on the US to assist the country in a military confrontation with Russia and should instead create a new defense pact with the EU. This is the opinion of British voters according to a survey commissioned by The Independent.
55 percent say they support the idea of a new European defense alliance without the US, while only eleven percent are against it.”
Jepp, we have to “team up” with them. The Nordic countries, the Baltic states, Poland, and maybe Germany (if they want to). We have to collectively develop and finance the British nuclear umbrella. Even without the USA, if we want to, we must be able to develop a deterrent capability that far exceeds Russia’s.
The defense is purchasing thousands of drones with a built-in combat component – which will be in place next year. This is reported by Dagens Nyheter.
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, assesses that about ten different systems will be introduced over the next three years.
– It’s a new way of thinking. We will be killed if we do not renew ourselves, says Michael Gunnerek, head of the Defense Drone Center.
The price per drone varies between 10,000 and 30,000. The operation is based in Karlsborg and was initiated last summer.
Above all, the ability to produce is needed. What is bought today is obsolete tomorrow.

SVD Lars Ehrenkrona gets it right this time.
Unlike when the disaster Lena Andersson is allowed to trumpet the Kremlin’s talking points.
Agree!
The meeting between the two presidents Zelensky and Trump was nothing more than a new act in the well-known play that the White House stages together with the Kremlin to pressure for a Ukrainian capitulation. The signals were clear from the beginning. No official representative of the USA met the Ukrainian head of state at the airport. Trump received Putin’s latest instructions by phone before the meeting. The lineup at lunch consisted of the old gang of the White House’s Putinists. In that circle, Ukraine has no friends.
The question hanging in the air was what new Ukrainian concessions Trump could deliver to Putin this time. Judging by the comments afterwards, it wasn’t much. Zelensky still keeps a good face to avoid upsetting Trump. The European financial support from the meeting in Brussels just before Christmas and the Ukrainian counterattacks on the battlefield seem to have strengthened the political resilience in Kiev. Trump himself made profound statements like Putin wants the best for Ukraine. He even claimed that Putin offers to help rebuild Ukraine. He repeated the claim that Putin wants to end the war, which is probably true. The problem Trump refuses to admit is that the Kremlin’s price for all this goodwill is that Ukraine must first give up its sovereignty. Kremlin’s comment on Monday, that Ukraine must withdraw its military from the areas in Donbass that the Russians have not managed to conquer and that a peace agreement must include Russia’s war goals, confirms that the game is about maneuvering towards a Russian victory and a Ukrainian defeat.
It does not bode well for the new year 2026. But Trump and Putin agreeing to establish two working groups on economy and security is not a way to pressure Russia but to offer Putin a new platform. There, he can continue to pursue his war goals in dialogue with a USA already on his side, and any disagreements can easily be bridged through shady deals between the gangs in Moscow and Washington. In substance, the USA supports the Kremlin’s stance on the territorial issue, and Trump wants to make a deal with Putin about the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia. The American president now echoes the Kremlin’s absurd claim that a ceasefire would prolong the war. But it is Trump and Putin who are prolonging the war. Trump does not want to see an end to his 24-hour peace operation any more than Putin sees an end to his three-day war. Geopolitics has turned into a magic show between the leaders of the world’s two largest nuclear powers driven by their delusions. Both believe they are restoring a grand past. Neither is in touch with reality. In Europe, we have already been there and made that journey. We recognize the signs. Whether it is about realizing the myth of Germania or the memory of Rome. It does not bode well for the new year 2026. In the Russian press, it is stated that Putin and Trump share a worldview. Russia is no longer a threat. The threat now comes from Europe. The liberal stronghold that must be destroyed to make America great again. Trump is said to be closer to Putin than the leaders in Europe. However, in the same Russian newspapers, the economic tones are increasingly pessimistic. The sanctions are biting, things are going badly for Russia. This is where the joint working groups come in handy. The USA is to become the new partner. Together, the USA and Russia are to combat Europe. This is how the new dramaturgy is written. A script that Vice President JD Vance is preparing to realize, if nature takes its course and a new boss is to step into the White House.
Well written, that’s exactly how it is. This sentence summarizes this year well.
“Both believe they are restoring a great past. Neither is in touch with reality.”
Someone should print a t-shirt with a picture of them shaking hands and with the above text.
Good that Ukraine has secured its financing for the next two years. Now it’s important to continue prolonging this charade until more Republicans in Congress start to revolt. The Russian devils’ economy is well on its way to free fall.
Yes, the fact that it became two years of funding was very nice. That way we will also pass the midterm election in the USA and we hope that the Democrats will manage to gather themselves by then.
If the Republicans lose big, maybe we will see a change in direction.
Before that, it is not entirely impossible that Russia has sunk too deep to continue, the problem is of course China, the question is how much support they are willing to give to keep Russia afloat.

Soon, only “MAGA approved” artists will perform there. Musk might even sponsor an orchestra playing German march music from the 1930s-40s?
“Several artists and ensembles have chosen to withdraw from events at the Kennedy Center since Donald Trump earlier this year renamed the concert hall after himself, according to American media.
The latest to cancel is the jazz group the Cookers, who were scheduled to perform during a New Year’s gala.
The cultural center, now led by Donald Trump’s handpicked Richard Grenell, has previously threatened to sue jazz star Chuck Redd, who withdrew from a concert on Christmas Eve, as reported by ABC News.
Donald Trump took control of the center earlier this year by replacing its management, and a few weeks ago, his name was added before John F. Kennedy’s on the building’s facade.”

I don’t believe much in kompromat either, Trump’s supporters don’t care about that kind of thing even if it existed.
Bribes and other assistance are probably more likely. At the same time, his cognitive ability doesn’t seem to be top-notch either, considering all the nonsense he comes up with.
I guess it might be a combination. Mental weakness mixed with high thoughts of himself and a feeling of being untouchable while being greedier than a drow.
Well, he sells his services to the highest bidder. I don’t think he understands that what Putin has promised him, he will never see the smoke of.
He has been trying things out now and noticed that it doesn’t matter what he does or says, there are no consequences for him. He said during his first term as president that he could go out on the street and shoot someone, and he would still go free. That’s where we are now.
It may depend on what kind of kompromat! Juicy pictures together with an easily influenced woman in a hotel room in Moscow. Ambiguous significance. Perhaps even commendable.
However, clear evidence that Trump has been on the “KGB’s” payroll since the 1980s, I believe would have a very strong impact.

”A Russia kicked out of Ukraine has a chance to rethink its colonizer identity and decouple from China. A Russia rewarded in Ukraine has no such incentive — it will cement a junior-vassal status under Chinese domination, locking in the very geopolitical shift Washington fears.”
It doesn’t matter, as long as Trump gets enough money? 😉
Interesting reasoning that I agree with.
Overall, throughout the year, banks actually have an increased positive cash flow, but the downward trend started already in June and decreased all the way (except for small variations) to then, just like in 2024, sharply decline towards the end of the year.
The decline at the end is in itself about the same as in 2024, so one probably cannot draw such big conclusions from that, but the trend for the second half of the year is clear.
A bit early to draw any real conclusions other than the trend strongly leaning towards preferring cash at the end of the year. It will be interesting to see how it goes in Feb-March 2026 when it seems normal for Russians to start putting in larger amounts of money again.
So, the chart is about the cash flow. It’s not about deposits and loans (even though it can indirectly affect them) and it includes all transactions, both individuals, companies, etc.
From the peak when almost 1,100 billion rubles were deposited down to the bottom at -700, there was a difference of ~1,800 billion.
I have found figures indicating that there are approximately 18-20 trillion rubles in circulation in Russia. This means that the change corresponds to almost 10% of all cash! Overall, the Russian economy is of course much larger, around 125 trillion, but these are not small movements we are talking about.
The situation could of course be significantly worse (or, I should say better) because it is not impossible that the figures are heavily manipulated to paint a better picture of reality.
“Cash withdrawals from Russian banks continue. From December 1 to 26, 692 billion rubles were withdrawn. This is more than in December of last year, when 650 billion rubles were withdrawn” https://x.com/evgen1232007/status/2005569462746157189
Off-Topic, Trump – Israel
Believe it or not, but sometimes Trump actually surprises positively.
“The USA has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to change his policy regarding the occupied West Bank, reports Axios. At Monday’s meeting between the two leaders, Trump and his top advisors reportedly asked Israel to “calm down” the provocations, according to sources.
It is the first time in several years that the USA, which has previously supported Israel’s actions in the West Bank, has expressed concern about the settlement policy. The Trump administration’s reasoning is said to be that a violent escalation in the West Bank could hinder the peace process in Gaza.
The President is also said to have had critical comments about Israel withholding billions of dollars in tax revenues from the Palestinian Authority, which has brought the Palestinian government to the brink of collapse, according to reports to Times of Israel.”

“Israel intends to continue to prevent journalists from entering Gaza, says the country’s defense minister Israel Katz. The reason is, among other things, that their access would pose a threat to Israeli soldiers on the strip of land, reports Haaretz.
– We oppose the entry of journalists because the ceasefire agreement is not perfect and there is a concern that it could be lifted at any time, Katz added.
Journalists have been banned from traveling to Gaza since the outbreak of the war over two years ago.”

They can talk to each other as much as they want, without Ukraine there won’t be any progress anyway.
“Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russia’s peace talks will now be conducted only with the United States, adding that Moscow’s position will harden.”
https://bsky.app/profile/kyivpost.com/post/3mb72uayzok23
But at the same time, it is dangerous, because then they can control Trump unchecked. It is no longer peace talks, but discussions between allies, discussing how to make Ukraine surrender so they can divide the “peace spoils”.
If there are further peace negotiations, Ukraine should always have an ally with them. Some European with a mandate to speak for the whole EU. Otherwise, it will be two against one, as unfortunately, the US under Trump stands on Russia’s side as long as he is promised a share of the spoils.
Yes, but as long as they only talk to each other without Ukraine, nothing will happen.
Preferably, I would probably like to see Ukraine withdraw from discussions with the US as a party and only turn to Europe, peace on Trump and Putin’s terms will only benefit Russia.
Well, one can hope, but unfortunately I think they are making plans, so the more they discuss, the worse it is for Europe and Ukraine.
Yes, the discussions should really be held without the USA, but Ukraine keeps saying over and over that they wouldn’t be able to manage without the USA, whether it’s a trick to make Trump feel important, or if it’s actually true, I don’t know. In any case, Europe has not been able to increase its production at the pace that would be needed, and with constant threats from the east, weapons need to stay in the EU as well.
I’m afraid that if Europe steps forward as the main mediator, and Trump feels like his peace offering is slipping away from him, it will be lend-lease to Russia again, unless someone with common sense stops him.
This is how an underground command post of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment looks like.
Russian state media and Z-propaganda television shows like Solovyov are going mental after the claimed drone strike on Putin’s residence, with some calling for a nuclear strike on Ukraine. The Kremlin is using it to tighten internal control, launch a new wave of domestic propaganda and stall peace.

“During the year, the number of obituaries for fallen soldiers in Russian media has increased by 40 percent, the channel writes. In total, the BBC has been able to confirm the names of nearly 160,000 fallen Russian soldiers. However, the actual number is believed to be significantly larger, perhaps up to 350,000.

Regarding whether the Democrats can offer an alternative.
Can they come together to form an attractive alternative? Voters do not seem to want (biological) men competing in women’s sports and changing in women’s locker rooms. They probably aren’t so keen on defunding the police. Large groups among the voters do not want open borders and identity politics.
In some voter groups, it is probably difficult to score points with critical race theory.
So the question is whether the Democrats are capable of throwing various ballast overboard.
PS. In Sweden, it was/is probably impossible to engage in race theory (for understandable reasons). However, there are still many “fine” people who seem to think it’s fun. As long as you point out the right group to disdain. Of course, the designation was impossible. It had to be renamed critical whiteness theory. Then some thought it worked well.
The Democrats seem to be having a bit of a hard time, they have no one standing out, not after Obama, who was eloquent but tame. However, I have not heard that the Democrats as a party have advocated for biological men in women’s sports or defunding the police, but on the other hand, you do hear the Maga gang accusing the Democrats of that, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.
I believe that those who struggle with their gender identity vote Democratic just to have the right to exist in today’s USA. Regarding defunding the police, they probably don’t have any specific party affiliation, they are probably just troublemakers in general, they might even have Russian sponsors.
My impression is that the things I listed have a clear place on the democrat/republican scale. However, I must admit that my knowledge of American politics is clearly limited so maybe I should be quiet. When it comes to transgender issues and more, I want to be clear that people have the right to live the lives they wish for. However, this does not mean that everyone is always obligated to consider every demand for affirmation. Perhaps it is not reasonable for biological men to have the right to change in the same room as both old, adult, and very young women. In any case, I have the impression that this is something that Donald Trump has gained votes on.
On a principled level, I believe I can see an attitude in some places (left-liberal type) that is a bit dangerous or shall we say risky. There seems to be a perception that certain people who do not have the right and good opinions should not actually be allowed to have influence over actual politics. In a democracy of Western cut, everyone has the right to vote. There is a risk that those who should not be allowed to have influence choose to vote for someone who seems to listen to them. With disastrous results. As we have seen in the USA. And very worrying tendencies can be seen in a number of European countries.
You are probably right that the things you listed have more supporters among those who would consider voting for the Democrats. Similarly, one could also argue that those who advocate for white supremacy or for taking away women’s right to vote (including the current Secretary of Defense) are coded as Republicans. Note! I am not saying that there is an equation between the parties and the views, but with your argumentation technique, one could claim so.
However, the Democrats haven’t really emphasized those issues as much as people claim in the “debate.” It’s mostly used by those who are against it.
Off-topic, 🇸🇴 Somalia 🇮🇱🇺🇸🇷🇺🇨🇳🇸🇴🇹🇷
Wasn’t it the USA that recently bombed in Somalia*? Or was it only in Nigeria and Mali?
“Thousands of Somalis took to the streets on Sunday night in Mogadishu, their country’s capital, in protest against Israel’s recognition of Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland as an independent state.
Waving Somali flags, the protesters strongly condemned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and voiced solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia.
This comes as numerous countries and international blocs continue to show support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while denouncing Tel Aviv’s decision.” (x)

“Israel becomes the first nation to recognize Somaliland’s independence, in a region suffocated by Islamic authoritarianism! Arab regimes such as Qatar and Turkey are predictably outraged due to their strategic ties to the corrupt state of Somalia. This move by Israel may seem minor, but could be the first step in loosening the grip of radical Islam on the Middle East and the West” (x)
