  1. “❗️President Zelenskyy met with skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych, who was disqualified from the 2026 Olympics because of a helmet dedicated to the memory of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia. The President awarded him the Order of Freedom and thanked him for his principled stance and courage.”

  2. “❗️“Today we have made significant progress,” – Zelenskyy on the meeting with partners in the Berlin format “We discussed what next steps we see, how to increase pressure on Russia to make it stop this war, how to involve America more, and so on.”

  3. “The Russian army has again advanced into the city limits of Pokrovsk, – DeepState The Russians have occupied about 95% of the settlement. In the “gray zone” are several blocks in the north-west of the city and in the north.

These blocks are considered key for the defense of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, and for them, as the Ukrainian military say, the most fierce fighting is currently taking place.”

  4. The American Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the historical ties between Europe and the USA during his speech at the security conference in Munich on Saturday. He began by reminding of the importance NATO historically played in maintaining security after World War II.

But he also said that it is a “dangerous misconception” to believe that a rules-based world order built on free trade would be enough to create global peace and prosperity.

He said that the USA cares about Europe and that Europe’s fate will always be important to the USA.

“If we sometimes disagree, our disagreement comes from our deep concern for a Europe that we are connected to, not just economically, not just militarily, we are connected spiritually and we are connected culturally,” Rubio said.

Rubio also said that the UN and other international organizations need to be reformed and that cooperation between the USA and Europe can restore a “reasonable foreign policy.” According to Rubio, such work should be led by Donald Trump.

“One could hear a sigh of relief among the audience in Munich after the speech by the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio,” writes The Guardian’s Jakob Krupa in an analysis immediately after the speech.

“This was a completely different speech compared to JD Vance’s a year ago,” he notes.

He points out that Rubio emphasized his own and the USA’s admiration for Europe several times and made clever references to the common history. The speech resonated with the audience and was met with standing ovations, Krupa points out.

BBC’s Frank Gardner also notes the feeling of relief after the speech. The consistent message, according to Gardner, was that the USA still wants Europe as an ally.

He does point out that Rubio criticized European climate and migration policies, among other things.

“There are still significant differences between Europe and the USA, but fundamentally I think he tried to heal some of the wounds JD Vance opened up a year ago,” Gardner said.

CNN’s Zachary Cohen points out that despite the reconciliatory tone, Rubio still emphasized that a new world order is here.

I’m wondering if Rubio has gained a stronger position at home. I got the impression that he mostly spent 2025 being dead inside, but now *something* feels different in the power balance.

    2. Rubio is the only one in that gang who has a certain common sense. That doesn’t necessarily mean that his views are far from Trump’s, but he certainly has much better communication skills than the other buffaloes.

I wonder why Trump has chosen him, perhaps it’s precisely because he can talk to people and has a vocabulary.

He is right about certain things, such as climate policy, even though in many ways it has, for a good purpose, caused us to fall behind compared to others, for example China, which prioritized energy access and cost over the environment, at least initially.

    3. 1.2.3 and then a new statement from Trump comes.

But yes, Rubio is one of the few who dared to show some cohones and has not been fired – worth something.

      Kellog smoked, right.

  5. 🇺🇸🇺🇦 Rutte revealed the amount of weapons the US will supply to Ukraine this year under the PURL program “No blockages, pauses or delays. Deliveries are worth about a billion euros a month, so this year it will be about $15 billion,” he said.

  6. I’m still upset about the Starlink shutdown, but it’s good that Ukraine has finally been given the opportunity to act.

The US told them beforehand, right, that you don’t just pull a series of offensives out of the hat, especially not when attacking at the same time as Starlink was shut down.

    1. It could be that they received a warning, or they are just really quick to act when they see the opportunity. It’s not like they have launched a huge offensive anyway (at least from what I’ve seen).

  7. 10:41 But we must also gain control of our national borders. Controlling who and how many people enter our countries, this is not an expression of xenophobia. It is not hate. It is a fundamental act of national sovereignty. And the failure to do so is not just an abdication of one of our most basic duties owed to our people. It is an urgent threat to the fabric of our societies and the survival of our civilization itself.

Vance was completely right in his speech.

But the characteristics of a sect include demonizing those with different opinions and other outgroups, so it didn’t really sit well.

But it’s hard to argue against the fact that the enemy comes from within:

      • Self-destructive energy policy
      • Self-destructive environmental policy, including shutting down old hydroelectric power plants, making forestry impossible because a bird has built a nest, etc.
      • Huge immigration of people who cannot contribute meaningfully to society and who also have significant cultural differences
      • Denial of truth: “men can give birth” and “must have access to protected accommodations”
      • Activist speeches against dissent, often combined with unjustifiably strong legal measures
      • Chat control
      • “Defense is a special interest”

So… who needs an external enemy when you can be your own!

The Russian navy in the north (Arctic) is impressive (sic!) and is growing despite the war in Ukraine. Germany and Italy must also participate in a more active Arctic defense and deterrence against enemies.

Thus, it is not only Trump who sees threats in the Arctic, but now also the German defense minister.

The defense of a so far inadequately defended Arctic (with 2024 two broken Danish naval vessels) is taking shape.

Sometimes extreme and painful measures are needed to wake up Europeans. Lex NATO 2015.

  9. That’s correct. 2 out of the three major Danish frigates are not functioning as intended. They will be rebuilt as patrol vessels. New ones will be ordered. The British frigates are taking longer than expected and the older ones are prone to seasickness. This means poor availability. I’m not sure about the status of the Norwegian ones, but the “Helge Ingstad” sank off the coast of Bergen a few years ago. Built in Spain and, as mentioned, I’m not sure if Norway is satisfied with them. Norway has ordered 5-6 new ones from Great Britain. This is where Germany and Italy come into the picture. Great Britain, Denmark, and Norway have failed in their previous frigate purchases. I know that Germany has good frigates but I don’t know anything about Italy.
