  1. Good morning,

I have been out with the dog and she made a statue πŸ’© of Putin.

Read about the “peace proposal,” it’s completely messed up, must be impossible for Ukraine to accept it, even Europe must be outraged now and send even more support to Ukraine even faster.

    1. You have a well-behaved dog!πŸ‘

We’ll see what happens, but I believe and hope that Europe now finally understands that it no longer works to do something half-hearted and that it’s time to take real action.

  4. “Bloomberg: The U.S. is reportedly open to recognizing Russia’s control of Crimea as part of a Ukraine peace deal.

This would mean freezing current front lines, without immediate demands for Crimea’s return β€” a move raising alarm in Kyiv and among U.S. allies.”

    1. A good start now is for the USA to step back from forcing through a peace that so far has been based on concessions to (only) Russia.

Then we’ll see how strong the pro-Russian sentiment is within the American administration.

Perhaps a revival for someone like Rubio?

PS: have you noticed how the formatting changes after the first edit? Among other things, line breaks that have been added disappear. This doesn’t apply to subsequent edits. So, if I expect editing, I usually paste nonsense text in the first save, and then insert the content during editing. Works OK.

  5. Decolonizing Russia β€” what it means and why it matters
The movement to decolonize Russia is subject to different interpretations, but according to historian Botakoz Kassymbekova, a specialist in Russian imperial history who teaches at the University of Basel, it primarily entails “parting with imperial structures, identity, and forms” of the Russian state.

Interesting reading. Many are afraid that a collapsing Russia would be like when Yugoslavia dissolved. It doesn’t have to be that way, the dissolution of the Soviet Union went quite smoothly even though there were some border disputes. Anything is better than a cohesive aggressive Russia.

  6. Mariupol defender appointed commander of Azov Brigade amid military reform. Following Russia’s full-scale war in 2022, Hrishenkov defended Mariupol, where he was injured. After 86 days of defending the encircled city under heavy Russian bombardment, he and about 2,500 other fighters left the Azovstal steel plant after Ukrainian commanders ordered the defending garrison to lay down their arms.

  8. There is still some hope when the Supreme Court dares to temporarily go against Trump.

“The US Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to pause the deportation of a group of accused Venezuelan gang members, writes the BBC. The court orders not to deport the Venezuelans ‘until further decisions are made in court’.”

  9. “Kremlin seeks to replace Moldova’s leadership with loyal figures, says Sandu If Russia succeeds in Moldova’s September parliamentary elections, the country could shift overnight from a friendly neighbor of Ukraine to a Russian-controlled threat, she says.”

  10. “A kamikaze drone hit right near us. We tried to shoot it down, but it was useless. The walking tractor’s out.” Another example of Russian soldiers using ‘advanced’ equipment at the frontline – a walking tractor with a trailer.”

This week, the Hungarian government has sent out an advisory referendum to the entire population with the question: ‘Do you support Ukraine becoming a member of the EU’? But instead of passively standing by, Prime Minister Viktor OrbΓ‘n actively encourages the population to vote no, reports The Guardian.”

    1. It’s strange how they think. Just as one reasoned to the war and what has made it difficult for us to provide Ukraine with all the support they need to defeat Russia. Obviously, those 105 lunatics don’t think it would be a problem to live under Russian rule.

I think they should check out the SVT article, then they can start packing and move to Russia:

      1. They are a group who believe that torturing and abusing children is acceptable as long as it’s not their own children – lacking empathy.

    2. Plenty of people with academic titles. I had the impression that there was a university subject called “Peace and Conflict Studies,” although it seems to have changed its name to now be called “Peace and Development Studies.”

I wonder how the recruitment for such a list works. But as researchers, they should know that the correctness of different positions is not determined by who, how many, or how many are behind them. It is the arguments that determine correctness. Do they doubt the arguments because there must be 100+ of them?

I once read something similar. It was claimed the following (cannot vouch for its truthfulness)…

Pre-war Germany. One hundred (approximately) German professors issued a statement declaring Einstein’s theory of relativity to be absurd. When Einstein heard about this, he remarked that if they had been right, one (1) professor would have been enough.

      1. I have looked into it a bit. What I mentioned above regarding Einstein surely has its roots in the following. According to English Wikipedia:

β€œA collection of various criticisms can be found in the book Hundert Autoren gegen Einstein (A Hundred Authors Against Einstein), published in 1931.[4] It contains very short texts from 28 authors, and excerpts from the publications of another 19 authors. The rest consists of a list that also includes people who only for some time were opposed to relativity.”….
Jacob Epstein quoted Einstein joking that if he were wrong, then one author would have been enough.[7][8][9] β€œ

        1. Stranne and a Peo Hansen wrote an article on Arena Debatt a while ago. I submitted a reply. It was not published. The fools at the editorial office didn’t even give me a response. Hansen is, of course, also among the signatories.

  12. πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺGermany has once again blocked the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon fighters to πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·Turkey due to the detention of opposition Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.

  13. “Republikanske kongressledamoten Brian Fitzpatrick besΓΆkte Ukrainas frontlinje och skrev pΓ₯ en granat till Putin med orden ‘Frid genom styrka.’ ‘Det var en Γ€ra att skicka Putin ett ‘personligt’ meddelande frΓ₯n nΓ€ra Rysslands grΓ€ns. Det trΓ€ffade sitt mΓ₯l,’ sa han.”

    1. Works well, if the dots for the bullet points in the bullet list, or the numbers in front of the numbered list, are not visible to you. Try clearing the cache in your web browser.

  14. It will work just as well, that is, not at all, like the ceasefire that has just ended. It’s simply impossible to trust Putin for a penny.

“Putin declared “an Easter truce” – he ordered the Russian army to stop combat from 6 p.m. today to midnight on Monday. Russia has already declared and violated such ceasefires before. It’s almost an hour before the declared “ceasefire” and there’s an air raid alert in the Kyiv region.”

Putin’s two-day ceasefire is meaningless – it’s just lies and tactical play. That’s what Stefan Hedlund, senior professor of Eastern European studies at Uppsala University, tells Expressen. The Russian president wants the US to kneel down and thank him, and the Trump administration wants nothing more than to crawl back into bed with the Russians, he continues. – Russia and Putin will not end this war until they have wiped out Ukraine, no matter the cost. That’s what has been the case all along. The ceasefire is Russia’s way of showing that they still want to negotiate with the US, who has threatened to withdraw – they had to show something concrete, says Russia expert Malcolm Dixelius to TV4 News. – Trump has a short fuse. If he doesn’t get what he wants, he doesn’t care.
