  1. AFU: “A total of 178 combat clashes were recorded during the past day.
Yesterday, the enemy launched three rockets and 77 aviation strikes at the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements, using four rockets and 101 guided bombs. In addition, carried out 6111 shelling, 90 of them – from jet systems of salpovogo fire, and engaged 3669 kamikaze drones for impressions.”
  2. The women are out fighting the forest fires, but what are the men doing? If they’re not in Ukraine, I guess they’re engaging in serious vodka consumption. Sorry, of course not all Russian men drink vodka all day long.
Alcoholism is very high in Russia, so it is indeed a problem, but one should not exaggerate.

There was similar talk about Finns in Sweden once upon a time. That they only drank and fought with knives.
A few lost souls became the model for the Swedish people’s view of all Finns. It’s far too easy to create prejudices and preconceived notions based on a small sample.

“Meanwhile, in Zabaykalsky Krai, there are severe wildfires — but no men around. All the firefighting is being done by women. What are all the men busy with? Well, perhaps they’re busy dying in Ukraine.”

    1. However, it is still a sign that something is very wrong in Moscow. Not all men are irresponsible drunks, but those who are not are dying in Ukraine, working in some other part of the country where they earn much more money, or hiding from the conscription authorities. If I were forced to live in Moscow, I would probably also turn to the bottle.

    1. I remember how it was when we got to touch and feel our beloved 120mm from Tampella. Guessing that Moscow’s donkeys just got another task to perform.

…A lot of bang for the buck with grk in these calibers, but after a reinforced Jgrp dragged 1 piece on foot for about 1 km in two hours, we all (except for some obstinate officers) concluded that it requires motorization (or horses, as when they were introduced).

  3. “The White House says no new sanctions on Russia will happen without Trump’s sign-off. Spox Karoline Leavitt stressed that sanctions remain “a tool” and credited Trump’s “persistence” for bringing Ukraine and Russia to direct talks.”

  4. “Trump official who shut down counter-disinformation agency has Kremlin ties, Telegraph reports. A Trump State Department official who shut down a U.S. government office tasked with countering Russian disinformation has ties to the Kremlin, the Telegraph reported on June 3.

Darren Beattie, who was appointed to the State Department in February 2025 as under secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, has come under scrutiny for his pro-Russian views. According to the Telegraph, Beattie is married to a Russian woman with links to the Kremlin.”

  5. “There is a major fire at the Kharanorsky Coal Mine in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia (images 1 and 2). The fire and smoke were visible on Sentinel L2A enhanced color and SWIR images on 29 May.”

  6. They are starting to get desperate and now want to increase the piracy of chips.

  7. “‼️ Russia: “Fourth region prepares to declare state of emergency due to threat to harvest” 👉 Krasnodar Due to dry weather. The emergency declaration is required for some insurance plans to pay out.”

  8. Now it is not quite clear what their definition of homelessness looks like so hopefully it sounds worse than it is.

“Almost 10,000 children are living in homelessness in Sweden, according to the definition of Sweden’s City Missions. In their new homelessness report, they demand action from the political level.

Jonas Rydberg, Secretary-General of Sweden’s City Missions, believes that the figure proves that “the Swedish model has crashed.”
The government has launched a strategy to reduce homelessness and the National Board of Health and Welfare is now investigating why the number of evictions is increasing, and what is needed to counteract this trend.”

    1. Tried to skim through the report, but as you yourself wrote, it’s not clear what their definition of homelessness is. Just something vague about permanent housing, but that’s not explained either. It almost sounds like it has to be a first-hand contract to count as non-homeless. Then the report is purely descriptive, it should rather be called some kind of subject brochure, a party submission.

    2. Westley Richard

According to the National Board of Health and Welfare, homelessness has decreased from 32,000 in 2017 to 27,000 in 2024. According to the National Board of Health and Welfare, the number of children classified as homeless is significantly fewer than reported in the article.

The idea that “The Swedish Model” would have crashed right now is probably to be seen as a political move or as a way to solicit money. Citizens have a level of contribution to charity, the recipients of these contributions change depending on the world around them, and many may have stopped supporting the homeless to instead contribute to Ukraine.

Facts about the National Board of Health and Welfare’s survey

The National Board of Health and Welfare’s homelessness surveys have been conducted every sixth year since 1993 on behalf of the government. People experiencing homelessness were surveyed in 2023 through two different surveys, the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s housing market survey and the National Board of Health and Welfare’s survey conducted from April 17 to 23, 2023. A total of 27,383 individuals over 18 years old were identified as being in one of the four homelessness situations.

Almost two out of three homeless individuals surveyed were located in the country’s 34 municipalities with more than 70,000 inhabitants.

In the country’s four largest cities, 31 percent of all homeless individuals were found, while just under 21 percent of the country’s population lives there.

Almost 16,900 individuals resided in long-term housing solutions with assistance decisions according to the Social Services Act, these individuals have specific sublease contracts, without right of possession, such as transitional housing.

In total, over 4,070 children under 18 years old were living with their parents in long-term housing solutions, with just under half of them being single mothers.

During the survey week in April 2023, over 4,400 individuals were reported to be in some form of acute homelessness. This includes staying in shelters, emergency housing, protected housing, public spaces, or similar situations.

Over 3,200 individuals had arranged some form of temporary housing during the survey week, with most involuntarily staying with acquaintances or relatives. Over 2,700 individuals were in the process of leaving supported housing, institutions, or facilities without having their own housing.

Of the individuals in acute or temporary homelessness, 68 percent were men and 32 percent were women.

One in three individuals in acute or temporary homelessness had children under 18 years old. 66 percent of the individuals were born in Sweden, an increase of 11 percent compared to the previous survey in 2017.

One in four individuals had been without their own housing for at least four years, and 500 individuals had been homeless for more than ten years.

Mental health issues, addiction, and low or no income are the main factors contributing to acute or temporary homelessness.

745 individuals slept in public spaces, garages, basements, cars, and similar locations.

1,010 children under 18 years old were living with a parent in some form of emergency housing, protected housing, hostels, or similar situations during the survey week.

    1. Why separate shot down and EW-treated UAVs? If a UAV is shot so that it deviates from its planned route and crashes 5 km away, or if it is electronically disturbed and crashes 5 km away, why separate?

    1. Interesting! He and Trump don’t seem to agree anymore. Maybe he has simply removed all potential manipulations for the benefit of Maga and Trump.

  9. Strongly upwards in Donetsk (Toretsk, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivka) for an increased total. Also up in Lyman. Otherwise largely unchanged.

KWIA/attacks: 6 (1020/178 = 5.73), which is slightly lower than the last few days.

  10. What kind of material is presented to an active person on X who does not follow or is followed by anyone. And does not post any material. Interesting. A shift to Ukraine-friendly algorithms on X. An Elon effect apparently. Elon has received a lot of crap but he is probably pro-Ukraine in soul and heart.

Comment on Lammis above about Musk and X.

    1. Don’t believe for a moment that Elon is a friend of Ukraine. However, I don’t think he’s a friend of Russia either. He’s probably purely focused on cost-benefit.

Then it probably depends on what he puts on the scale of cost and on the scale of benefit for the day. For example, freedom doesn’t seem to weigh as heavily as human lives, so it’s better if people don’t die even if it entails totalitarian oppression.

    2. Believes like Umlaut, that Musk is hardly Ukraine-friendly.

What may have happened, however, is that he has removed algorithms that previously did everything to promote Trump, MAGA, and Republicans.

He is no longer at all in agreement with Trump, very dissatisfied with the budget containing large expenses in the form of tax cuts and other things that will lead to even greater budget deficits. Exactly the budget deficit that Musk has tried to counteract through DOGE.

    3. Westley Richard

Probably more about a changed relationship with Trump, interesting with a fight between the world’s richest and the world’s most powerful, especially since they live in the same country and were BFF just a few days ago.

    4. No, he is not Ukraine-friendly at heart. He has a multitude of statements that are downright hair-raising. However, I believe we will see a sobering up from his side. He is definitely feeling enormously pressured by internal criticism within Tesla, Space X, Twitter, etc., plus the popularity of MAGA is on the decline. I think for strategic reasons he will position himself against the US Administration on several “harmless issues” and at the same time become more pro-Ukraine to appease the Europeans. I really welcome a Twitter with more reasonable algorithms.

    1. Don’t know if confirmed. The post also publishes the following about the general:

🇷🇺 Lieutenant General Sergey Kobylash, commander of Russia’s long-range aviation, is dead. The regime says he “fell from a window.” How original.

He was the man behind the air raids. The missiles that burned Ukrainian cities. The cold-blooded strategist of mass terror from the skies. He managed the fleet of strategic bombers — those same Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 bombers Ukraine has now started to erase from the map. A key target of the recent Ukrainian special operation “Spider Web,” Kobylash’s death is no coincidence. Nor is it the first of its kind.

  11. We discussed countermeasures against drones yesterday.

    ➖ Anti-aircraft drones

    ➖ Training & new units

Overnight on June 1, Russia launched an aerial assault on Ukraine, deploying a record 472 drones.

Ukrainian forces downed 210 drones, including Shahed-type attack drones, while 172 more drones were intercepted by electronic warfare or disappeared from radars, according to the Air Force.

“We would have liked to have had better results, but there were still dozens of hits,” Ihant said.

According to Ihant, Russia employed tactics involving the launch of a large number of weapons at a single target that approached from high altitude. During their meeting on June 2, air force commanders emphasized the urgent need to strengthen drone air defense capabilities, he said.

“We are talking about anti-aircraft drones that help intercept air targets. Crews are being trained in different locations on the territory of our country. New units will be introduced,” the spokesperson said.

    https://kyivindependent.com/ukraine-to-deploy-new-units-to-counter-russian-drone-attacks-air-force-says/

  12. “Ryssarna ersatte snabbt några av de förstörda flygplanen med oskadade flygplan/attrapper på sina flygfält, placera dem på exakt samma platser. Eller tejpa dem så att skadorna inte syns vid upplösningen av kommersiell satellitbild.”

    1. I am eagerly waiting for the total sum to reach 40(+) pieces. Regardless, it is nice to see the number slowly increase, the more visually confirmed plans the better.

      1. AFu released an updated report later yesterday.
They should have received information that made them feel they could confirm those 41.

    2. We keep our fingers crossed that the list will be expanded. It might be difficult to complete the list if the Russians remove the evidence with replacement planes, decoys, and repairs. Ukraine has once again stated that at least 41 planes have been damaged after a thorough review of images and sources.

        1. Yes, but the 40 rejected plans were probably an early task from Ukraine to create headlines in the media. Successful, it must be said. The whole project was a huge success both in the media and on the ground. These little Russians who are considered worthless according to Russian perception show strength and ability!

  13. Jake Broe seems confident that new sanctions from the USA will be coming soon:
    https://x.com/RealJakeBroe/status/1930157317221503232
    —-
A vote on “bone crushing” sanctions from Republicans in Congress is happening within the week. Speaker Johnson is now willing to schedule a vote.

If it passes with a supermajority Trump can’t even veto it, which he doesn’t want to do anymore. Trump is allowing this to happen.
    —-
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Trump will announce this in connection with the visit from Merz.

    1. Westley Richard

Now Merz has come up with a lot of criticism against Trump, who usually amuses himself by trying to humiliate his guests at the press conference in the WH. Everything indicates that Trump will increase the sanctions. But I don’t think he will offer Merz that treat.

  14. Westley Richard

The strike threat at Systembolaget has been averted. The employer organization Svensk Handel and the three trade unions that threatened with a strike have reached an agreement, as stated in separate press releases.
