ADS
As you have probably noticed, we now have ads on the site. The ads and their placement are managed by Google, which also tries to optimize it automatically. We will let it run for a few weeks to see where it ends up. Some placements feel quite large, but it might get better.
We will then post a survey to hear what you think, if there are too many ads, if there are certain placements that are particularly annoying, etc. so we can make any adjustments after that.

  1. WordPress really sucks (insert any random knight and their genitals, or livestock and its feces) when it comes to managing the site via mobile.
Apologies for today’s post and its lousy formatting!

    1. Try shift-return. Sometimes if the keyboard is already in shift, unshift first.

PS if you are editing, the above formatting may disappear. Repeat the above.

      1. There are no line breaks but other problems inside WP.
For example, to create a table of text afterwards (in my case when I pasted the losses) you should select the rows that should be included in the table.

On mobile, it’s not possible to select more than one row in the editor.
You get the “handles” but it’s not possible to drag and select more than one row, because the editor somehow creates a block of all the paragraphs.

Another thing that happened was that when I opened the left menu to make settings for the post, a menu popped up covering everything except what was visible at the top.
I couldn’t close it even if I clicked outside the menu.
The only thing I could access was to publish (the button was visible at the top right).
So, I had to choose between publishing even though I wasn’t done, or reloading the page and losing what I had done.
Furthermore, on desktop you can access saving drafts, but not on mobile.

But, I probably shouldn’t complain since WordPress itself is free..🤷🏻‍♂️

There is a lot happening in and around Azerbaijan right now. Successful peace agreements are being negotiated with Armenia in Abu Dhabi. An economic cooperation agreement has been signed with Georgia.

Turkey has entered into a defense agreement with Azerbaijan, which now seems to have shifted from the Russian sphere to the Turkish one.

Azerbaijan has also supported Ukraine with civilian aid and equipment for demining the areas reclaimed, including in Kherson. Sending demining equipment to areas far from the front line apparently angered the Russians as it reduces Russian terror.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Azerbaijani military has also received information from Ukraine about weaknesses in Russian military capabilities.

Apparently, the Russians still have bases in Armenia that have been reinforced to try to maintain power in the region.

Russia may very well face a two-front war, but the new front may not be in the Baltics, but in Azerbaijan and/or that region.

      1. AI response: yes

It has been reported that Iran has deployed military forces near the border with Azerbaijan. This has occurred after Iran accused Azerbaijan of allowing military presence from Israel, an archenemy of Iran. Azerbaijan has expressed concerns about the military exercises.

The background to the tensions is complex and includes historical, ethnic, and geopolitical factors. Azerbaijan and Iran share a long border and have a significant Azeri population within Iran’s borders. Azerbaijan has also strengthened its ties with Turkey, which worries Iran.

The military exercises in Iran have been seen as a way to assert Iran’s position and potentially send a warning to Azerbaijan. At the same time, Azerbaijan and Iran have expressed interest in resolving their differences through dialogue.

Israel bombed a large number of military bases in northern Iraq in the latest attack a few weeks ago.

There is obviously a hidden agenda behind this and an informal exchange between Israel and Azerbaijan.

Yes, what is happening there is super exciting and it can have major geopolitical effects (also affecting Iran, Russia’s access to ports via the southern corridor, etc.). I have collected a bunch of bookmarks that I’m going to try to sort out – not entirely easy! 😄

  4. There are different opinions about what Russian residents believe and hope for regarding an end to the war in Ukraine when the BBC’s reporter meets them at a market outside Moscow. “It must end with a victory, why else would we do it,” says a woman to the BBC. Several want it to end as soon as possible, “so that people can go out and have a normal life,” says a man who hopes that a ceasefire can lead to Ukraine and Russia living side by side.

Certainly, it was some criminal court – not the ICC – that recently convicted Putin of crimes against the laws of war or human rights? And these judgments can only be enforced against individuals who are not national leaders. If I remember correctly, Putin has yet another reason never to give up.

    1. I believe that it is quite difficult to judge a sitting authority figure even within the ICC, as there is a lot of complexity regarding immunity, etc.

        1. Submit anything and shoot the damn thing! Then spread rumors everywhere and make everyone accuse each other so that everyone then suspects each other.

When in Russia, do as the Russians.

  6. ⚡️Ukrainian soldiers took revenge on Russian barbarians who killed a one-year-old child in the Kherson region

As is known, on 9 July 2025, at around 12:10 p.m., in the courtyard of a residential building in the village of Pravdyne, Bilozerska community, Kherson region, one-year-old Dmytro was killed and his grandmother was injured as a result of a strike by a Russian Molniya UAV.

At this time, there is reason to believe that the operators of the enemy strike drones involved in the child’s death have been destroyed.

The launch direction of the Molniya strike drone that attacked the residential building in Pravdyne has been determined to be the temporarily occupied town of Hola Prystan. The location of the Russian military criminals’ crew has also been established: a five-storey non-residential building in Hola Prystan.

The operators of the Ukrainian Defence Forces’ strike UAVs directed five FPV drones at the windows of the relevant floor in four stages. Subsequently, no enemy drones were observed being launched from the specified building.

Our soldiers will take revenge on every Russian scumbag who came here to sow death!

Slovakia will back new EU sanctions against Russia if it secures an alternative to Russian gas, Politico reports. Prime Minister Robert Fico said he’s ready to support the 18th sanctions package—but only if a prior deal on energy supplies is reached. “We aim to settle the issue by July 15” he added.

If Fico gets some gas, he will be happy, maybe we should send some laughing gas 😂

  8. Analysis: Russia is stepping up attacks. Allies are stepping back. What happens to Ukraine next?

    Key Points
Ukraine adapts to shifting U.S. stance — Despite signs that the U.S. could disengage from the defense of Ukraine entirely, Kyiv has gone to great lengths to keep Washington on board. Relations with the Trump administration are currently at a relative high but questions remain about the extent of support for Ukraine, and the willingness to apply pressure on Russia. Russia’s escalating aggression — Russia isn’t pretending to placate the U.S.-led peace process anymore and has openly declared its intention to continue the war and believes it can win. This has been accompanied by a dramatic escalation of the aerial war. The battlefield — Russia’s grinding offensive in eastern Ukraine is gathering pace despite ever-mounting losses. The prospect of reduced or halted U.S. military aid puts a spotlight on Ukraine’s domestic weapons production and asymmetric warfare. There are many positive signs, but significant gaps remain. Europe’s response — Rushing to fill the gap being left by a retreating U.S., Europe is racing to ramp up defense production but critics argue the pace is too slow, and the continent is simply not capable of defending itself. Ukraine’s people — Despite the bleak outlook, Ukrainian resistance movements continue their work in occupied territories, and polls indicate a large majority believe the country must continue fighting against Russia’s full-scale invasion regardless of U.S. support.

  9. USA/Trump

“Donald Trump urges his followers not to “waste time and energy” on the investigation surrounding the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of a series of sex crimes against minors. In a post on Truth Social, the former American president appears to be trying to address the criticism of the Justice Department’s decision to close the investigation, as reported by the New York Times.

Several Maga profiles have been furious about the decision, and Attorney General Pam Bondi has come under fire. Trump supports her in his post, stating that she has done a “fantastic job”.”
