Locals told SHOT that they heard at least 10 explosions on the outskirts of the city of Kstovo at around five in the morning. According to them, the drones were flying very low from the direction of the villages of Gagino and Sheloksha. Residents claim to have seen traces of downed drones in the sky on the outskirts of the city. Preliminary reports indicate that air defense is shooting down enemy drones.”

Exactly how I feel too. The final proof that Trump doesn’t have any secret plan or anything, he’s just a Putin simp plain and simple.
The topic of “territorial exchange” (in reality, attempts to force Ukraine to cede more of its land to Russia) has naturally arisen. Putin would certainly like to acquire two agglomerations in the Donetsk region without a fight.
Despite all our current problems, which only the lazy or dead do not write about here, the capture of the Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk agglomerations will cost the Russians significant losses. In particular, to increase pressure, the enemy, as the VGK said, is transferring troops from Kursk.
Of course, no one will voluntarily give up a single meter. No matter how much anyone demands it. No matter how much Trump and company twist Ukraine’s arms. It would be like shooting themselves in both feet, or even in the head. Pure suicide. The Russians will have to take all of this by force.
The fact is that cities are a very convenient platform for deploying forces and preparing for further offensives. The location of soldiers, equipment, logistics hubs, the deployment of electronic warfare systems, etc.
You can follow the history of the enemy’s advance after Avdiivka on the Deep map. Ocheretine became a stronghold for one stage of the offensive. Then Novogrodivka. Then Selidovo…
Imagine the opportunities for further offensive development that control over Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Myrnohrad would give the Russians. Along with smaller towns and our fortification system.
Here, it will be convenient to deploy huge forces and resources for an offensive on Pavlohrad, Lozova, and in the direction of Izyum.
So, of course, the Russians are not opposed to receiving such a gift. Even with our current problems (I am publishing this thread with a delay, and a lot has happened in a short time), in order to take all this, they will have to lose a lot. Especially considering the intensity, because they are throwing everything they can here.
One factor contributing to the rush and attempts to achieve the most gains is the backdrop of the negotiations between Putin and Trump. The longer-term plans that they want to implement in a hurry are to break through the new line of defense now and reach the heights behind the Kramatorsk agglomeration.
Of course, the plans for Pokrovsk-Mirnograd have not gone anywhere. The crisis is very acute right now. And we are facing an autumn that will be no less (and perhaps even more) difficult. The stakes here, as always, are a piece of land or a few cities, and the survival of the country and the existence of statehood for an entire nation.

“Putin’s proposal to end the war in Ukraine is published by Reuters.
▪️There will definitely be no ceasefire until a comprehensive agreement is reached
▪️Kyiv will completely withdraw troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions
▪️Russia will freeze the front lines in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions
▪️Return to Ukrainian control of areas in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions
▪️Formal recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea
▪️Official status of the Russian language in some parts of Ukraine or throughout Ukraine
▪️ The right of the Russian Orthodox Church to operate freely.”
The right of the Russian Orthodox Church to operate freely.
One wonders what operations they intend to carry out? They probably meant the GRU.
Exactly! Perfect cover.
OMNI also writes about the demands:
“Some of the points on Vladimir Putin’s list of demands have leaked to the media after the meeting with Donald Trump.
One of Putin’s central demands is that the entire Donbas, where the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are located, be transferred to Russia. The demand also applies to the parts currently controlled by Ukraine. In a phone call with European leaders, Donald Trump is said to have stated that Putin is ready to freeze the current front lines in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson if this is fulfilled.
Putin is said to have offered a written agreement to never attack Ukraine or any other European country again, Trump said in the call, after which the European leaders pointed out that Putin often breaks his written promises, sources told the New York Times.
Trump is also said to have stated that Putin is willing to accept strong security guarantees for Ukraine once an agreement is in place, for example from American troops, but not from NATO. In turn, Putin wanted guarantees that Russian would again become an official language in Ukraine and that the Russian Orthodox Church would be preserved.”

For the security guarantees that RU, USA, and EU provided last time were indeed very valuable!
Yes, Ukraine already has security guarantees through the Budapest Memorandum. So that’s probably not something they need.

Every child carries the same quiet dreams in their heart—whether born in the countryside or in the center of a big city. They dream of love, opportunity, and protection from danger. As political leaders, we bear the responsibility to secure children’s futures. A simple yet profound thought, Mr. Putin, and I’m sure you’ll agree: The offspring of every generation begin their lives with purity—an innocence that transcends geography, government, or ideology. Only you can restore their melodious laughter. By protecting the innocence of these children, you are not only serving Russia—you are serving humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human limitations, and it is you, Mr. Putin, who can realize this vision today with the stroke of a pen.
https://x.com/melaniatrump/status/1956831038812090789?s=46
Three things about that letter.
1. Nothing makes me see a demand to return the children. Just gibberish.
2. Why does her signature look like a copy of the Baboon’s?
3. It is crystal clear that she is just a figurehead and nothing more, a wife on paper. If it had been real, she would have made Trump change his plans by threatening to “close the shop and throw away the key”.
Nowhere is it mentioned that it would be about Ukrainian children.
I think it’s about children in general, who receive military training and are fed propaganda.
The intention is good, but nothing that Putin cares about.

Israel – Palestine
HAMAS has proposed a partial agreement which involves releasing 28 hostages (18 of whom are deceased) in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire. Israel rejects the plan and demands the release of all hostages. Meanwhile, protests against Netanyahu seem to be increasing in Israel.
“The negotiating team of the terrorist group Hamas in Cairo is said to have changed their stance on the issue that caused the negotiations to collapse earlier this summer. Now, Hamas is once again ready to negotiate a partial agreement in line with the plan of US envoy Steve Witkoff to release 10 living and 18 deceased Israeli hostages in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
This is reported by the Israeli TV channel Channel 12. A document is said to have been handed over to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, and two individuals who have read the document have informed the TV channel about its contents.”
https://omni.se/hamas-vander-kan-slappa-gisslan-i-utbyte-mot-vapenvila/a/632RAL
“Israel will only accept an agreement with Hamas if it involves the release of all hostages at once. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified this in a statement on Saturday evening, after media reports suggested that Hamas had reconsidered and is now ready to release approximately half of the remaining hostages in exchange for a ceasefire.
At the same time, Netanyahu continues to face pressure domestically, as reported by Haaretz. On Sunday, 300 protests are planned across Israel, along with a national strike to pressure the government to end the war and bring back all those held hostage.”

Both the EU and Germany demand that Israel stop new settlements in occupied territories.
“EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas urges Israel to abandon the settlement plans in the occupied West Bank presented earlier today by the far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. According to Smotrich, the plans would “bury the idea of a Palestinian state” and divide the Palestinian territory into two parts.
Israel’s decision “further undermines the two-state solution and violates international law,” Kallas stated in a release according to AFP.
Germany opposes the Israeli plan to build thousands of new homes in the West Bank, as reported by AFP.”

“The German government calls for a halt to “settlement construction” on Palestinian territory in a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
On Thursday, Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced that he had approved the highly controversial plans to expand the Ma’ale Adumim settlement east of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.”

The information below comes from the health department controlled by HAMAS and is naturally difficult to verify when journalists and independent observers are not allowed to move freely (and of course due to the risk of being harmed and killed).
“70 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s health department as reported by Haaretz. Of these, 29 people were killed while trying to access emergency aid.
The same authority also reports that eleven people have died of starvation in the past day.
The health department, controlled by the terrorist-designated Hamas but employing medical staff, now states that 61,897 people have been killed in the war between Israel and Hamas, and a total of 251 people, including 108 children, have died of starvation.”
https://omni.se/70-doda-i-israeliska-attacker-idag-elva-av-svalt/a/eMjgdK
60 days ceasefire so Hamas can regroup and hide even better among civilians.
How about if the terrorists did as the Arab League and others demanded, lay down their weapons and surrender!?
It would of course be the best, but they would probably not survive so it’s maybe not so strange if they refuse to give up.
Instead, they send out other radicalized to die in the war, but are too cowardly to risk their own lives.
It’s probably not until they are completely surrounded and no longer have any chance that they give up. If they are even still there themselves..
Therefore, Israel has no choice, they must go in and eradicate Hamas and make sure they never set foot in Gaza again.
They are trying to prolong their lives slightly by releasing prisoners gradually, hoping that Netanyahu will fall before all in the hostage situation are dead. When the hostages are dead or released, Hamas is also the “walking dead”
The total number of dead is likely high, but since the numbers come from Hamas-controlled sources, they are likely exaggerated by at least double
Hamas has not been as good at planting signals of goodness in the opposing camp as Putin has been towards the Western world in general.
They are now grumbling loudly when the Israelis do not yield to “the coalition of the feeble minded do-gooders of the west” with Starmer, Greta, and others.
⚡40 ENEMY UAVs SHOT DOWN/SUPPRESSED
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
On the night of August 17 (starting at 7:30 p.m. on August 16), the enemy attacked with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 60 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of dummy drones from the following directions: Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalovo – Russian Federation.
The air attack was repelled by electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
💥 According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense forces shot down/suppressed 40 enemy Shahed-type UAVs and various types of drone simulators in the north and east of the country.
Missile strikes and 20 UAVs were recorded at 12 locations in the frontline areas of Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
✊ Let’s keep the sky!
🇺🇦 Together – to victory!
Ukraine shoots down fewer and fewer of the total number of Shaheds 😐
Fortunately, the number of Shaheds has decreased recently.
A factory was probably bombed recently, and the imports from Iran probably decreased after the bombings by Israel and the USA, but I also think it is being saved for a larger attack.
“Moscow rejoices after President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with Donald Trump overnight to Saturday, writes The Guardian.
The fact that Russia left the meeting without facing any new sanctions despite Putin rejecting a ceasefire is seen by many as a victory.
– Putin gave nothing to Trump, but still got everything he wanted. Trump finally listened to his demands, says a source in the Russian foreign policy establishment.
The meeting between the world leaders was shorter than planned and the meeting with the economic delegations was scrapped, which can be seen as no economic incentives seemed to influence Putin.
Before the meeting, Trump said he would not be satisfied if he left Alaska without a ceasefire and he also threatened with “serious consequences”.”
It’s not surprising that they are cheering, the outcome of the meeting couldn’t have been much better.
“While Ukraine and the EU will categorically ‘refuse peace,’ the Russian army can continue to advance, the newspaper writes.”
“The Russian newspapers agree that the Alaska meeting was a major diplomatic success for Russia. This is reported by BBC’s Russia correspondent Steve Rosenberg in his daily news roundup ‘Reading Russia.’
Several newspapers emphasize that after the meeting, Donald Trump abandoned the idea of a ceasefire and instead aims for a more comprehensive peace agreement directly.
“Trump himself came to this conclusion after his conversation with the Russian president. And this is an obvious tactical victory for Russian diplomacy,” writes the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to another newspaper, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Putin explained to Trump that a temporary ceasefire is disadvantageous for Russia because it loses its momentum on the front. Therefore, a negotiation for a peace agreement is clearly better for Russia: While Ukraine and the EU will categorically ‘refuse peace,’ the Russian army can continue to advance, the newspaper writes.”
https://omni.se/ryska-tidningar-hyllar-skifte-fran-vapenvila-till-fredsavtal/a/B08P39
Strange summit in Anchorage. Why was it held? Shouldn’t it have been clear in advance that the Russians were not ready for a ceasefire along the existing front lines. And wanted more territory from Ukraine, like entire oblasts in a complete peace deal. Or was the meeting still held with that knowledge just because Trump wanted to show himself on the world stage? There is a picture where Trump and Putin stand next to each other and Trump shines like a sun like a child who has met Santa Claus as Jake Broe said. He had probably achieved his personal goal with the meeting.
Agree, completely unnecessary meeting. Probably as Jake suggested, mostly a way for Trump to show off with his favorite Putin (even if it was possibly just a copy).
I have seen some discussions about it not being the real Putin and various opinions for and against.
I am starting to suspect that everything with Putin is fake except when he is sitting at his desk in the bunker. That bastard doesn’t dare to leave his rat hole!
Mac – could it have been like this?
The copy arrived and then in the meeting, which was completely private, the real Putin was on zoom?
In Russia and Ukraine, it is no secret that there are more Putins at all, it’s just us who believe it’s still a conspiracy
It sounds like a fairly reasonable scenario, but Jake argues that it was never a private meeting but rather 3+3 and the reason for that was that Lavrov was the one actually speaking for Putin and not the copy.
It also turned out to be a significantly shorter meeting than planned, perhaps because Trump thought the real Putin would show up, so it turned out to be just the copy and therefore it wouldn’t be possible to reach any real agreements either.
Wild speculations, but of course not entirely unlikely.
It would have been somewhat interesting to see what would have happened if a sniper had taken out Putin.
That’s why you have a blog, you think a little further!
That is entirely possible.
Trump wanted to be seen on the world stage. I also believe he actually wants to achieve a ceasefire, primarily to receive the Nobel Prize, but also because war is bad for business.
Putin wanted to come out of the cold and back into the warmth of world politics, and get Trump back on his team.
Putin won.
Krasnov, Trump is Krasnov.
Yes, I believe more in that than in Putin sending a copy. That is to say: A physical meeting was needed for them to be able to speak in person without the risk of eavesdropping. All electronic systems are of course eavesdropped on, if not by their own technicians/intelligence agents on their own side.
I don’t think it’s so bad if the war continues for a while longer.
Of course, there are plenty of personal tragedies happening daily.
But right now, Russia is in stagnation while Ukraine has momentum.
Momentum in a way that they have flow or tailwind.
Of course, every form of assistance gives Ukraine a higher momentum.
The support should not decrease thanks to Ukraine’s successes, it should increase instead.
This way they have a chance to achieve lasting peace.
Every European leader should emphasize this fact as soon as they have the opportunity now.
Agree that it probably isn’t necessary with a ceasefire. The problem is if Trump manages to force a peace with lousy conditions and if Europe doesn’t pick up the pace.
Also agree that Russia’s economy will improve every day, whether it takes 6 months or 3 years before it becomes decisive, it will eventually bring them down.
What I don’t quite agree with is that Ukraine has momentum.
The Russians continue to gain ground, even though it’s not decisive in itself, but reports of hardware losses also show that Ukraine is now losing more than the Russians. We don’t know Ukraine’s KWIA but it’s not entirely impossible to imagine that they are also rising along with the equipment.
We would need to do more, there is always a risk that the Ukrainians might eventually be willing to give up and accept even lousy conditions or that soldiers start deserting.
I think it would be very valuable if Europe made a stronger effort and showed that they mean business. Besides the direct help, it affects morale.
I don’t think it’s enough that the support doesn’t decrease, I think it needs to increase.
Close the airspace, or send in soldiers to help at the border with Belarus. None of it may be war-winning, but strong symbolic acts that show both Ukraine and Putin that they mean what they say.
Just by seeing the number of loitering drones, FPV drones, and FAB, it’s clear that it’s not fun at all for Ukraine at the frontlines.
You don’t lose dominant terrain either if you don’t have to.
Now Ukraine has started to drone refineries and oil depots again – if they can keep it up, they will cause harm, we know that because Russia has never mentioned it.
Full asymmetric warfare is necessary – a small Soviet army cannot fight against a larger Soviet army, they say.
It seems that the Nordic countries have broken away from the EU narrative with a slightly more aggressive position, we are indeed small but quite tenacious.
Putin is using Trump to talk down the West –
Get areas for free.
Surely also that Zelensky will resign or announce new elections.
The statement from the Nordics was good and Zelensky liked it.
EU not good – watered down and cowardly.
Trump is Krasnov and the USA wants a strong Russia.
From what we have seen so far, we still believe that Trump allowed Ukraine to fight the raffens that many guessed at?
Full asymmetric warfare and a Europe behind Ukraine is the only way forward.
Iran, NK, Russia, China, and the personnel pool from Africa are all with Russia – soldiers and materiel.
Is there a thing coming from the USA towards Greenland in connection with the anticipated Russian entry into the Baltics? The meeting for coordination? Molotov-Ribbentrop take two?
Get the European arms industry going, give the finger to the USA if they don’t help and arm Ukraine to the teeth. Don’t buy their weapons.
We lose by losing the USA as a trading partner, they cry!
It’s nothing compared to what we lose if the Pissluffar Russians can lick their wounds for 5, 10 years and then attack again!
The only positive thing in this situation is that Trump will be gone in 3.5 years, a lot can happen in that time, for better or for worse, but then hopefully Europe can have a partner again.
If the idiot tries for another 4 years, I think we will see a low-intensity civil war on the other side of the Atlantic. Then we will have a completely different, much bigger problem!
Have we mentioned that Putin is strengthened domestically after that meeting?
Could it have been a major point of the meeting for Putin?
Yes, absolutely, couldn’t have been better and he is being hailed in his propaganda media while Trump is described as a weak loser. Trump probably hoped that he would also be praised at home for his efforts to create peace, but even there he is seen as weak when he basically didn’t accomplish anything and let Putin dictate the terms.
I just posted a post and Trump seems obviously upset, he doesn’t seem to understand that the vast majority of Americans don’t trust Putin (regardless of the war) and that very many also stand on Ukraine’s side. Or maybe he is so much Krasnov that he doesn’t care what people think.
Yes, I think so. It dampens the unrest at home.
Good comments in the thread when you finally wake up at six o’clock on a Sunday 😭
Do you also see the goal drift – the only way to peace is if Ukraine gives up more ground
and more support from Europe is escalation
Putin could leave today and the war would be over, right?
The following text has been translated from Swedish to English:
Is everyone in Europe now buying weapons in the USA for ua – is it new production?
Delivery time for that?
Almost feels like another trick by Krasnov
How did the Patriot missiles that everyone got excited about turn out?
I haven’t seen that they have been delivered.
Germany will send theirs as soon as they receive replacements from the USA.
If they still haven’t arrived, one must assume it was just for show, then they delay deliveries until the war is over.
The half-life of our promises to Ukraine is very short.
An entire war Ukraine has told us that they have to stop in the middle of offensives when promised equipment does not arrive.
With Scholz, only 10% of the promised material was delivered a long time ago.
Johan, how was the weather in the Caribbean? Were there exaggerated warnings or did it maybe not pass where you are?
Is in progress 👍
Interesting that Trump-friendly FOX News releases this interview (with the former US NATO ambassador), where they describe the meeting as a great victory for Putin without him having to make any concessions at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TU8QZY6EXY
A home-brewed theory at the meeting that you can put a tin foil hat on.
Krasnov met a copy.
When they sat down face to face, Putin was present via video link.
Krasnov smiled broadly before the closed meeting.
Krasnov felt anxious after the closed meeting.
So in hindsight, there were economic negotiators there and Trump, as usual, couldn’t keep quiet so it would be a lot of fun for Russia – didn’t happen, did it?
They skipped lunch.
The private meeting may not have gone great, but Trump’s message to Europe is that he now doesn’t like a ceasefire but instead thinks peace in our time is important and that Ukraine must then refrain from a lot of land + Zelensky resign (wait and see).
Krasnov was put in his place in the private meeting and was given a list of points to push?
—
It’s not very speculative anymore perhaps, but what we don’t know is what the points on the list were 🧐
Because we haven’t heard them yet.
Now we have a hurricane incoming, first category 4, then 5, and now apparently it’s supposed to be a 3.
A few weeks ago, we had a small earthquake.
Let’s hope it goes well!
A pretty good exercise to do is to start from the assumption that KRASNOV is true.
And then look at all of Trump’s decisions since before taking office and after becoming president, and the outcome.
-first, he was even going to politically bring down Zelensky for two months.
-all US material is stopped.
-Kursk (I am right)
-all strategic combat that causes auto damage stopped on February 22.
-trade war – he didn’t even meet the Japanese when they hurried to Washington, on the hotel TV they saw that they got high tariffs instead.
-Every European leader mocks and dominates him.
-No new material.
-at times stops or threatens to stop American material.
-Makes Europe spend money on American material without fixed delivery dates.
-He says he has talked to Orban.
-He calls Lukashenko before the meeting with Putin.
-He has accepted an invitation to Belarus and Russia.
Then further –
D doesn’t scream about impeachment.
The General Staff does not make a revolution.
After WW2, the US gave half of Europe to the Soviet Union despite Churchill’s wild protests.
During the Cold War, the US made obscene profits from a weak and scared Europe.
After 1990, the US has weakened significantly and China has surpassed the US.
The US thinks “your enemy’s enemy” about Russia.
—
Ukraine is collateral.
Trump is Krasnov.
The US wants a strong Russia.
—
None of this is good for Europe – it is actually up to Europe to solve this. Putin and Trump are allowed to continue because we let them.
—
Ukraine is on the defensive and Russia has more gas to give.

I believe that the start of asymmetric warfare in July does not have Trump’s approval. Trump and Putin have proposed a ceasefire in the air, for example?
One must always wait for confirmation, but I am of the opinion that Trump has now clearly shown where his loyalty lies.
and that the USA has shown that they would rather have a weak Europe under the Russian boot than a strong Europe.
Isn’t the meeting with Putin a confirmation? At least his emotional loyalty.
Just the fact that he hasn’t pressured Russia on a single point except in a few tweets, while he has shit tariffs all over the democratic world, speaks its own foul-smelling language.
Europe’s leaders were supposed to participate via link – now half of them are traveling with Zelensky to Washington on Monday. That’s good.
Yes, otherwise there would have been a great risk that it would have ended up like last time (although it could happen anyway).
The risk of bullying decreases significantly, intellectually the European delegation is on a different planet than the American one. It’s just a matter for the Europeans to “lower” their level a bit, so that the Americans don’t feel inferior.
It’s good that President Stubb is coming. Trump listens to him, he is straightforward in communication, diplomatic, and knowledgeable.
Do you think Krasnov will smile broadly with Zelensky and Europe’s leaders?
He did a Christmas Eve-log with the third copy of Putin
Yes, if he gets a broomstick shoved where the sun never shines. Maybe not a heartfelt smile, but still a smile.
Less than a year ago, Europe’s leaders were quite tough in their words.
What do we think has happened since then?
As usual, a lot of talk and little hockey!
Donald Trump has taken to social media to complain that “fake news media” are trying to distort what he believes is the truth about his summit with Russia’s Vladimir Putin. “I had a fantastic meeting in Alaska about Biden’s stupid wars,” he writes. In a follow-up post, he writes that the “left-wing radical democrats” would say it was a bad deal if Trump had gotten Russia to hand over Moscow in a peace agreement. He concludes his angry series of posts by promising that progress is on the horizon, without mentioning any details. “Big progress is coming. More info to come!” he writes in uppercase.
Now it’s starting to become clear what needs to happen here – Zelensky just needs to give up all of Donetsk and then there will be real peace.
And Putin promises not to attack Europe – do we believe that?
If we don’t do enough now, when Putin is allowed to bomb civilians in Ukraine, what did he think we would respond with when it turns out they continue to arm themselves?
Furthermore, does he think Putin will allow anyone to travel around Russia to carry out inspections?
To me, it seems like we have completely given up and are now starting to discuss irrelevant and meaningless details in a peace agreement to make it sound like a good legitimate solution when in reality, we are simply too cowardly to solve the real problem.
Putin gets away once again, and it’s only a matter of time before he starts the next war.
Will we ever learn?
“Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) has on Sunday evening participated in a phone meeting with other European leaders ahead of Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting with Donald Trump tomorrow. In a post on X, Kristersson notes that European support for Zelensky and Ukraine is strong and that the Swedish starting point is to maximize pressure on Russia. ‘Sweden will continue our support for Ukraine and actively participate in discussions on how security guarantees can be formulated, so that Putin cannot use an agreement to arm himself for new aggressions,’ he writes.”

It is only because it is what the USA wants to happen. There are all possibilities to go after Putin and make demands, but obviously they choose not to do so. Cowards! 🤬🤮
“Rubio: Both Moscow and Kyiv must compromise
Representatives of the Trump administration have on Sunday tried to portray the failed attempt to reach a ceasefire with Russia as a step in a longer process towards peace, writes the New York Times.
– We are committed to trying to achieve a peace agreement that permanently ends the fighting, said White House envoy Steve Witkoff to CNN.
He also said that Russia is ready to make some concessions in the negotiations, but did not go into any further details about it.
At the same time, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio was interviewed on several American TV programs. He emphasized that an agreement on a ceasefire or peace cannot be reached without Ukraine participating in the talks and stressed that both sides must be ready to compromise.
– Otherwise, thousands of people will continue to die, Rubio said on CBS Face the Nation.”

Jo MXT I’m not hopeful either, we’ll see 😀
I know you’re not worried about the Baltics but it would be the obvious “force posture” from Europe to show Putin that we mean business.
Now Trump and Putin are also running circles around us and how Europe acts until the end of the year will probably determine the war.
At least Zelensky is clear about that, he used the word “critical” regarding Europe’s wholehearted support.
Security guarantees, “just peace”, we support you all the way – all are fine words that today are backed by zero action.
Europe must understand that Ukraine has little offensive capacity but on its own they cannot bring about change.
Trump is completely burnt out, but maybe we also need to show it?

‘Negotiation can begin where the front line currently stands’ — Zelensky says ahead of meeting with Trump. “We need real negotiations, and that means they can begin where the front line currently stands. The line of contact is the best line for negotiations,” Zelensky wrote on social media following a meeting with members of the so-called “coalition of the willing.”

Trump says no NATO path or Crimea return for Ukraine as Zelensky comes to Washington for peace talks. Zelensky cautioned that any new deal must prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from using concessions as a “springboard” for another attack, citing Russia’s seizure of Crimea in 2014.
