  1. Continued strong pressure towards Pokrovsk and surrounding fronts. Lyman is establishing itself as a less intense front, with noticeable pressure, and it doesn’t seem like surrounding fronts have received more attack resources instead. There is still noticeable pressure around Kharkiv.

      Omni also reports on Pokrovsk:

“Intense fighting is currently taking place in the strategically important city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine, writes Ukrainian Pravda. According to the newspaper, Russia has established several important positions around the city and is also said to have gained control of the airspace.

The newspaper also writes that 250 Russian soldiers are inside the city, which has so far been controlled by Ukraine.

      – There are battles on almost every street, we have losses every day, says an officer interviewed by the newspaper.

The remaining Ukrainian forces risk being trapped without the possibility to replenish their stocks of weapons and provisions.”

  2. “🇬🇧 UK Defence Secretary John Healey warned Putin, saying: “We’re hunting your submarines.” – BBC He revealed a 30% rise in Russian vessels near UK waters. Healey, joined by Germany’s defence minister, said: “Russia is testing us — but we’re watching you.””

  3. “Migrants armed with shovels and metal rods clashed in Moscow, leaving three wounded. Russians reported hearing shouts in an “incomprehensible language.””

  4. “A British court has sentenced six men to prison terms ranging from 7 to 23 years for torching a London warehouse storing humanitarian aid for Ukraine. They were working on orders from Russia’s Wagner Group — The Guardian & Sky News. …”

    1. Yes, once they have come this far, it seems difficult to get them out again.

However, they usually incur enormous losses at the same time, so we have to hope for that this time too.

  5. “Drones that the Western world sells and gives to Ukraine are too expensive and are of no use in the war against Russia, Ukrainian soldiers tell The Economist. For example, Ukraine had high expectations for the American Switchblade 300 drones. But they were expensive, disrupted by Russian technology, and caused minimal damage. – When it hit the rear window of a minibus, it barely shook the front window,” says Ukrainian arms manufacturer Valerij Borovjyk to the newspaper. Ukraine is increasingly relying on its own arms industry, which can deliver more drones at a lower price. A Ukrainian ground drone costs around 100,000-200,000 to manufacture, while a Western-made one costs millions. – It’s like choosing between a BMW and a Skoda. The BMW is faster and more comfortable, but it’s not as helpful when you need to provide cars for everyone,” says Eduard Lysenko of the state-owned Ukrainian arms cooperation Brave-1.”

    1. Many of the American weapons are not adapted for the war being fought in Ukraine, not even for yesterday’s war in Europe. They are developed for yesterday’s American wars, wars in an open desert, American logistics, ships off the coast launching tomahawks on command, satellite surveillance, and an opponent fighting last week’s war.

They are designed to take command, and then be superior until the opponent gives up, something similar Russia had also envisioned, but it went to hell when they encountered a sufficiently motivated opponent.

  6. “When the USA this week introduced new sanctions against the Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil, it was described as a blow to Moscow’s war chest. Now the effects are starting to be noticed, reports Bloomberg. Indian Reliance has stopped its purchases of Russian oil and several Chinese companies are acting more cautiously. At the same time, Washington warns foreign banks participating in Russian oil deals that they may be excluded from the American financial system. According to analysts, the measures signal a shift towards a more balanced strategy – to make it harder for Moscow without driving up oil prices globally.”

  7. Belgium was probably one of the countries in Europe that had the worst handling of Covid. They had extensive problems with terrorist networks in the country (ISIS). They had no control over the handling of military drones from a foreign power towards their own military object, and they are dragging their feet in EU’s support to Ukraine and thus Europe’s own security.

    Reports: Belgium agrees to compromise

After lengthy discussions between the EU countries, there are now reports that Belgium has finally accepted a “watered-down” version of the agreement, Politico reports.

The country’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever opposed the proposal to use frozen Russian assets to finance a loan plan for Ukraine.

Most people surely realize the impossibility of first expressing support for Hamas and for women’s rights in women’s spaces to secure the nomination and then discard these positions to win the election…. just a wild guess…

    1. Why is she even considering it when the whole party has declared that democracy was over if/when Trump won?

If she runs again, the Republicans can probably win with Vance, a turnip, or whatever, that should be clear to (D).
