Ukraine daily update January 28, 2025

Lions

We will now see serious unrest in Belarus as Lukashenko did not read the new dictator’s manual and stuck with the old winning figure of 90%. Nowadays, you should only have 52% as it is enough for victory, but he completely missed that.

Every little village will start talking and realizing that no one voted for him, and then it’s on, eagerly supported by Ukraine and Warstache and his companions.

This is significant and unmanageable for Putin when it kicks off, and now it’s not unarmed protesters that can be arrested and tortured to death, but well-armed Belarusian guerrilla fighters who will join the opposition.

It is likely that UA’s strategic drone campaign has an end date for Russia when they simply can’t handle it anymore. It is becoming my conviction that Russia will throw in the towel by 2025, provided the West does not (once again…) choose to save Putin from his entirely self-inflicted predicament.

RU retaliation is always 10 times more violent to scare the opponent into passivity, but we no longer see that. Their robot rain has been mediocre at best in recent months.

And they have had every reason to retaliate if they could since November 5th.

Because it is clear that after the election on November 5, 2024, everything changed overnight, and Ukraine no longer seems constrained by geographical limitations, which targets can be taken out, and so on in an endless cycle with all of Biden’s red and yellow cards designed to ensure that things don’t go too well for Ukraine.

Zelensky might be giving us the most crucial piece of information about the war here – what did Biden cook up when he met Putin in Switzerland. After a bit of googling, it seems to have been on June 16, 2021.

For a sitting president to write this about the former US president requires both well-founded suspicion, which Zelensky believes he has, and then such a strong feeling that Biden acted poorly in the war that it is announced.

I will save this anyway for when everyone in the Biden team starts denying that it was ever said in a few years. A bit like Eisenhower who asked everyone to film the concentration camps as much as they could because at some point in the future, deniers always emerge. The Biden team is cast in the same fact-resistant mold.

Biden’s legacy is like a bag of old rat poison, something you’d rather forget about but then you accidentally eat it, thinking it’s candy.

USA is just like the bank, not your friend, they say, and in this war, the duo Biden/Sullivan has caused a lot of damage entirely unnecessarily.

I have always believed that the USA is on the “good” side even though they have been on the wrong side in all their wars, but here they have shown remarkable cynicism and being out of touch with the times.

Almost as if one could suspect that they just want to sell weapons and LNG and preferably see the EU have some problems in their backyard so that we stay put.

Now we’ll see what the next administration accomplishes – Musk is 100% a pest and a security threat to me, and it won’t be long before the USA is forced to act here.

Let’s give Trump a few more months – I’m still looking for that “evidence” that makes it impossible to interpret it any other way.

Do you know what else Biden did – Vampire SAMS turned out to be effective, and the USA sent 14, when the production capacity was 25,000 per year. Joe Biden has blood on his hands.

Here you have Wittman in Normandy 2025 style (in Ukraine), a Leo blowing away a whole Russian vehicle column.

In terms of having fought an excellent defensive battle in a colossal disadvantage and managing the impossible every week, Ukraine should get a place in the history books, but of course, that won’t happen because the US and Germany should have it.

There are different rumors about the North Koreans now, partly that they have been completely withdrawn from the fronts after catastrophic losses and then that the entire 11th AC is on the way.

We know for sure that they have disappeared from the fronts, at least, and we’ll have to wait until the entire AC shows up.

I have thought that this was not so attractive for Rocket Man with escalating losses and prisoners of war instead of combat experience. Or they have gained combat experience, only that everyone has gone and died.

A good summary of the NK soldiers so far, grade F.

I understand that RU is interested in NK self-propelled howitzers because they are at a distance of 60-70km and lobbing in the grenades, which is outside the direct kill zone for the most common drones.

These are also likely manned by North Koreans, by the way.

Many NK self-propelled howitzers are coming in right now

If Putin had a lot of his own artillery available, he would never buy from North Korea. The soldiers are a bit different because he needs consumables and pays less for them than for his own Russian recruits.

RU is also getting new artillery from NK

Lots of other exciting things in the big Ukrainian updraft

Israel is flying over all the captured Russian weapons Hamas and Hezbollah abandoned – talk about payback for Putin

Official RU channels are once again insulting Melania Trump – a bit unclear what they aim to achieve because when someone insults his wife, that’s when every man with a bit of self-respect starts to react, right?

Zelensky offers to solve Transnistria’s gas needs

And Ukraine offers to quickly set up transit gas between Azerbaijan and the EU to solve EU energy needs – a small thought here that the USA doesn’t like it so that Ukraine is gradually starting to break free?

But good for the EU and why we should be grateful for Ukraine.

And Putin has just blinked

But everything is not always fun, apparently a morgue in Mariupol had around 34,000 dead, I have guessed around 100,000 and I think the final number will be terrible. Those who stayed for Ruski Mir had a short life…

And the USA believes that 200,000 children have been kidnapped by the Russians – guess if trafficking is involved 😬

History lesson, as soon as the Russians liberated Auschwitz, they opened it under their own management at the facility and many of the prisoners went back in along with many others, they only closed it in 1946.

Ending with this soldier who didn’t sleep through personal skills training – the world’s best infantry and strange that some still have a different opinion.

This war is slowly coming to an end by 2025, Ukraine is out of the red zone on the risk list now, the list that the West completely ignored and they have just been lucky in this.

  1. Thank you, Johan, glad you have time to write a bit despite the new job and family in place. Always thought-provoking, one would really like to know how the conversation between Biden and Putin that Zelensky refers to went. If it’s true that they had some kind of agreement, it’s simply too awful. Bad enough that Biden turned into a coward in his old age and no one stood up to him, but making a deal with Putin should almost be punishable!

    1. The old man thought so, said that he recognized the signs.

Right now a bit tricky before I learn to knit properly but it will come 👍

  2. Regarding trafficking, I wonder if European countries are also involved? Maybe not when it comes to Ukrainian children, but certainly when it comes to both Russian and Ukrainian women. It was brought up a year ago that Hungary would allow Russians to travel there without hassle. It is also a fact, however strange it may seem to us Swedes, that prostitution is very widespread in German-speaking countries, including Austria and Switzerland. And Germany. I am not familiar with European sex trafficking, but I do not find it unlikely that there is a lot of dirt to uncover here. Women from occupied territories or Russia being flown to Europe via Hungary. Perhaps they are thoroughly raped first on Russian soil, until working as a sex worker in Switzerland seems relatively okay. And then a bunch of politicians and potentates on the continent who find it quite enjoyable with this influx and are happy to provide the demand to meet the new supply. It also becomes a way for the SVR to have leverage over people in leading positions.

    1. Yes, it is very widespread. I was thinking about the children in Russia as well because many are probably being killed there too, but the UA women in Europe are very vulnerable.

    2. It is sad to think about the fate of the children. What one can hope for is that they take the demographic situation in Russia seriously and that orders have been given to take good care of them to become part of the Russian population (horribly enough). However, even if such an order exists, they are of course not safe until they have arrived in Russia; there are probably many children whose fate will never be clarified.

  3. Thank you for the wall Johanno1, the timing of Zelensky’s wonder about what Biden did with Putin is good. He is a bit of a political genius, I would say, communication is his main branch.

The fact that they met in the summer of 2021 means that the Moscow empire had already begun the buildup along Ukraine’s border when the meeting took place. Whatever they talked about, at least Putin did not feel that he was risking anything by continuing to plan his bloody anschluss.

And cool with raff, things are moving fast now!

  4. Thank you for the post!

I think it’s a bit sad that you can’t refrain from bashing Biden, partly because it’s a closed chapter and partly based on such weak grounds as you bring up.

The fact that Zelensky wonders what was said in the meeting (don’t we all?) doesn’t necessarily mean that he is accusing Biden of any agreement. It’s how you choose to interpret it. It could just as well be about what Putin may have threatened with. If he seriously and emphatically said that nuclear weapons will be used or that he will simply order agents in the USA to take the life of Biden’s closest relatives, that could explain Biden’s cowardly stance.

Regarding the Vampires, isn’t it a bit dishonest to compare the actual systems that Ukraine has received with the ammunition manufactured for them?

“We have only sent a handful of Archers even though we have 50,000 155mm shells in stock, how bad of us! We have children’s blood on our hands!!”

When it comes to Trump, on the other hand, you are very forgiving and write:
“We might as well give Trump a few more months..”

    Why is that?

    1. He has not managed to end the war despite his promises. But then again, no one really believed he would.

    2. He has hardly allowed Ukraine to strike deeply. If he had, it would have been communicated very clearly. Since you believe that Biden is responsible for dead children in Ukraine because of this and Trump could have allowed it but hasn’t, he is as guilty as Biden.

    3. Trump has cut off all humanitarian aid. Even though weapons deliveries have been the biggest U.S. contribution, it still involves large sums of money. Now they were forced to backtrack and will allow emergency aid, but it’s unclear if it applies to Ukraine. That veterans’ aid center that is forced to close will hardly benefit from it in any case.

    4. He has stopped all refugees from entering the USA, which also applies to Ukrainians, even though it was originally required that they have sponsors who are financially responsible for them.

Nevertheless, it’s positive that Trump hasn’t stopped the weapons deliveries that were already promised, but on the other hand, he hasn’t said anything at all about possible future deliveries. Now, of course, he seems to do as he pleases, so unlike when Biden was in charge and had to get it through the Senate, it will of course be quick if Trump decides on deliveries.
In previous years (except when Mike slowed things down), the budget was already set in the fall. There is a risk that it will be delayed again (if it even happens).

      1. I agree that he is cowardly and could have done so much more, but if you are going to criticize, it should be well-founded and not just something made up because you dislike him. Criticize him for what we know he has done, not what we think he has done, otherwise it’s just pure mudslinging propaganda. What’s the point of it now when he’s already out of the game?

    1. But do we see a difference in Ukraine’s bombing campaign in depth after November 5th?
And there is not the same panic at all with Zelensky as when he visited the USA in September to get support for his peace plan (victory plan).

Trump has kept a low profile so far, and if he had been as pro-Putin as we suspected, it would have come out already. The first executive order would have been to stop sending aid to Ukraine.

But yes, since everyone expected that and it didn’t happen, it is interpreted positively, but he hasn’t really done anything, you are right.

On the other hand, we expected wholehearted support for Ukraine from Biden and have not received it, with some highlights like releasing VDV and leaking all battle plans. It may be that Biden was not aware of all the twists and turns but will have to take the blame for it.

Yes, Biden is actually a closed chapter, but when something like this happens, it’s hard to hold back.
And the moment Trump delivers what is expected of him, it will be written.
Musk is already there, for example.

Good thing I have a login so I can’t be kicked or banned. ✊✊

      1. Ah, missed this comment.

Yes, I do agree that Biden could have done much more, but I think that criticism should be based on facts and not guesses. There really isn’t any evidence for the idea of releasing VDV either, is there?

Lucky for me that I have a login too! 😂

    2. We know what Biden (doesn’t) have done but we don’t know what Trump will do. That’s the big difference so far. Politics affects the future, sometimes over a long period of time, which makes the expression “closed chapter” something that doesn’t belong to the subject. In that case, Trump’s previous term is also a closed chapter, but that has been referred to time and time again before he became president again. Strange how there are differences depending on the person.

Why should a sycophant be praised when he doesn’t deserve it?

      1. Referring to what Trump did before is because he is once again president and holds power. Biden is not likely to have much influence on US politics in the future, he is completely irrelevant.

But you are right that politics has an impact over a long period and if one can dig up facts afterwards to provide a more accurate picture, etc., then it’s not wrong, it can be interesting, but then it should be facts as well, otherwise it resembles Russian historical falsification and then any analyses become completely meaningless.

Who said that a fence-sitter should be praised?
I criticize the criticism of Biden in Johan No.1’s post, which is based solely on loose clues and pure fiction (while he had nothing to say about Trump and thinks we should wait a few months).

Since Johan has faced opposition before, I understand that he would like to prove how corrupt Biden is, and I am completely fine with that, if there is any substance to it.

        1. Trump’s previous policies influenced Biden’s term, which affects Trump’s current term, etc. You can’t selectively choose which previous terms to look back on depending on the current mood. They all influence each other or not at all.
An example is Trump’s tariffs, which Biden then added to, and now Trump wants to add even more.

It’s possible that Johan is mixing in some emotional sauce, but others do that too and then claim it’s the truth. Loose clues, yes, maybe, but it’s the same as used to show how foolish Trump is in the current administration. We KNOW what has been done before regardless of the president, but we do NOT know what lies ahead other than what has been revealed TODAY. It becomes just as much emotional sauce when forming an opinion about Trump’s upcoming term without us knowing anything.

Another example is that we know Trump didn’t come close to the deportations he wanted to do while the “Deporter in Chief” set records. This we KNOW, but we do NOT know what lies ahead.

By the way, it’s absolutely incredible that we managed to get three such lousy presidential candidates in as many years!

          1. When it comes to Trump, I mentioned what he has done so far as president, I didn’t really write anything about what I think he will do. Sure, I know there’s a lot of speculation about it, but that’s not what I did in my comment.

There is more to write about Trump if you also consider what he did before becoming president. When he repeatedly stated that Ukraine should not receive more money because the US needed it themselves. That Zelensky was clever to manage to beg for money, when he greatly exaggerated how much the US had given (and also in comparison to Europe).

Statements that most likely influenced many and worsened Ukraine’s support in the US. Well, sorry, it’s just a guess, the slow decrease in support in the US could of course be due to other reasons.

Mike delayed the decision to approve $60 billion to Ukraine when they needed it most. It is claimed that this happened due to pressure from Trump, but we don’t know for sure 100%, so we can’t rely on it, but considering Trump’s statements, there is a very high probability that it was indeed the case.

So, there is a lot that Trump has actually done that can be brought up, without us needing to jump to conclusions about what he will do.

So why criticize Biden for things that people think or have made up that he has done, while not even criticizing Trump for what he has already done? No, with Trump, should we wait and see…?

Were we hesitant with criticism when it comes to Biden? We’ll have to wait and see, maybe he will allow deeper scrutiny later? So why shouldn’t we criticize Trump who also hasn’t allowed it? Everything that the US has NOT done and is not doing, he is just as responsible for now as Biden was then.

Agree, strange that the US can’t come up with better candidates and especially that they can’t engage more voters (although it’s of course connected).

  5. “US federal judge blocks Trump’s foreign aid freeze

    But Ukrainian organizations already affected:

    🔹 Veteran support centers closing
    🔹 Aid programs suspended
    🔹 Thousands of beneficiaries impacted

    Court block expires Feb 3”
