Ukraine daily update November 6, 2025

Let’s see where this ends up as mentioned – local counteroffensives or something bigger from Ukraine in the future.

In Pokrovsk, it looks like below, which may suggest that they are withdrawing from the threatened area.

The small red dot near Kozatzke is a confirmed RU position from November 3.

The initial guess when we heard about GUR was that they had entered and secured the corridor to be able to reposition the units inside the area threatened by the scale – it seems like that was correct.

This war has been allowed to continue for far too long, and the statement “we can end it with a defeat for Russia if we want” from the USA and Europe is very inappropriate.

How many five-year-olds have to be tortured, violated, and then murdered in front of their parents before enough is enough?

If we can challenge Russia, why don’t we? That is the question our elected officials should answer instead of buying the most expensive military equipment we can find on the market when what has proven to work best are drones for a few hundred.

Europe still buys Russian oil products and allows our companies to sell what Russia needs through intermediaries. In a Gerandrone, there are hundreds of components from Western companies that are still available for Russia in 2025.

Taiwan, Israel, and South Korea all sell technology to Russia – what the 😡

We will address the epic double standards of the USA in another post, but it is undeniable that Russia has been treated differently here by both Biden and then Trump 2.

Venezuela is more in line with how the USA usually acts – they go to war when they feel slightly threatened or want to plunder a country’s resources, and then they call it democratization.

I generally don’t like where Europe is heading – it was almost as if they voted through Chat Control 2.0.

Similar to when the EUR was to be introduced, and the countries that initially voted no in the referendums continued to vote until it became a yes, then exclaimed, “the people have spoken, we will do as they demand and introduce the euro.”

We have significant problems in Europe, and now the solution, as always, is higher taxes because everything will be better that way.

It’s also good if we know exactly what all citizens think and feel for the country’s and children’s safety.

The police have cracked down on organized crime significantly, which is good – they have understood that if you take the money, you take away the motivation to be a lifestyle criminal.

Take houses, take children, take cars, and freeze bank accounts ✊✊

In the country of Sweden, there is absolutely no need to be criminal; everyone has food on the table, everyone can study, and no one needs to freeze.

Do you think everyone in Angola, where none of the above is available, was criminal when I lived there?

The only problem is that if future politicians decide to expand the concept of when these measures can be taken, as they have chosen to do with the HMF law, asset forfeiture could reach new heights for far more than just gangs and criminal clans.

You can be the safest in the world knowing that when the first government critic loses their home, everyone will fall silent – no one will want to risk that.

Naturally, this is done in steps, but there are already warnings from the political side that the threat and hatred from citizens are too much, and in the UK, they are talking about “years in prison” for thought crimes now, and the right opinion is just a political decision away now that the door has been opened for freedom of speech to take a back seat to what is deemed more important.

Politicians and those in power like more control and will advance their positions if allowed, so anything that makes it harder to “hate and threaten” (criticize poor politicians) is a possibility.

Serious crime, corruption, and mismanagement are somewhat new to us and unfortunately something we have to learn to live with. Bribes work just like lobbying, and since salaries in Sweden are quite low and there is a lot of money circulating, high bribes can be paid out.

The police are already struggling, and the crime resolution rate is ridiculously low – if they can bribe their way to an even lower resolution rate, hardly anyone will raise an eyebrow, right?

“Economic crime is risk-free” is the saying, and FI, which is supposed to be the watchdog, usually loses employees to well-paid positions in finance – one might wonder why?

Pension funds don’t even get a slap on the wrist when they invest our pension money in things politicians find amusing but are not allowed to invest in – like Northvolt, for example.

If you can combine bribes with threats, you probably have pretty good chances of getting what you want, even in Sweden, and now in 2025, both are available, along with some expertise from Russia, and a China that bribes its way into everything.

The solution always ends up being more controls that criminals find ways around, leaving the citizens to deal with the consequences.

When Encrochat was decrypted, the police were surprised to find that every gang, professional criminal, and criminal clan had a “personal banker” laundering their money.

It hasn’t really been widely reported since then – perhaps the banks didn’t want any exposure.

Or Swedbank’s open money laundering from Russia, which ended with the USA fining them, and it turned out to be an FSB operation with honey traps for the leadership.

The UK was a money laundering hub for Russian rubles for an exact eternity, and any other criminals who wanted to launder money through the UK could do so.

There is no shortage of wealthy Angolans in Europe, where the citizens struggle for a meal. Not until the Angolan government itself asked Europe to cut off the channels did they do so – everyone wanted the blood money of the dictatorship’s children.

When the scale is manageable, everything is fine, but now it’s spiraling out of control everywhere, and Europe is starting to become quite difficult to govern, I guess?

Germany showed for several years that their administration was virtually blocked when it came to making decisions that were beneficial for Ukraine.

It’s not just M taking bribes from the business sector anymore; the disease has spread.

I welcome Ukraine joining JEF now, NATO can forget about it.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/joint-expeditionary-force-launches-enhanced-partnership-with-ukraine-as-allies-step-up-further#:~:text=Press%20release-,Joint%20Expeditionary%20Force%20launches%20enhanced%20partnership%20with%20Ukraine%20as%20allies,an%20enhanced%20partnership%20with%20Ukraine.

It will become a defense alliance in the long run that encompasses the Baltic Sea, the Baltics, Poland, and Ukraine, which by definition then becomes our shield against the East.

A couple more countries are involved, and if we take this seriously, it works better than the EU defense force that Macron keeps talking about, or NATO.

The rest of the EU may have to contribute funds, but the countries needed are already involved and can solve the shield – brilliant.

I also welcome Ukraine’s full membership in the EU now in the first step together with Moldova.

Ukraine, Finland, the Baltic states, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway are probably among the countries where Russia will have the most difficulty navigating in the future, and we recognize a Chinese when we see them in bottle-bottom glasses.

Corruption can certainly be curbed in the long run, even though it is a bit of a fine tradition in Ukraine, Poland, and the Baltic states.

We probably also need to reform the EU, as it is absolutely remarkable that Hungary and Slovakia, which are major net recipients, do not want Ukraine to join.

Portugal and Spain are also upset because they want to continue receiving a lot of funding and absolutely do not want to start sending money back to the EU – that was not why they joined.

If I were a dictator, I would reform the EU for free trade, free movement, and a few loose issues.

Then groups of countries can organize themselves on issues they find important together with like-minded countries – for example, JEF takes care of the bulwark against the barbarians from the east.

The EU’s huge cadre of overpaid officials and politicians will have a much smaller budget and much narrower mandates – fewer than the money-eating swarm of locusts they are today.

Instead of telling Poland how to handle various issues, one could solve it through free movement – those who do not like what Poland does can move?

I think that would be a brilliant function for the EU, where citizens can move to countries that suit them because not everyone will ever be as LGBTQ+ tolerant as Sweden, for example, that’s just the way it is.

Then people who feel mistreated have the opportunity to freely move to us – voila.

Sometimes I also wonder if there is a pull towards a new cold war by some unholy alliance?

Russia could have lost this war at least five times already, but primarily the USA and a few countries in Europe did everything they could to avoid it.

Why then, not everyone could have been paid by Russia, so surely there are other motives in the mix.

No one seems to like a strong middle class – it’s better if they work seven-day weeks so they don’t have time to complain like Johan No.1.

The USA probably had its best years as a nation during the Cold War (after the Federal Reserve was created because before that they probably had no national debt to deal with?).

Europe really has the chance to become something great, but the attraction to expand its power and grab money is quite strong. But if I can successfully run major international projects with ten nationalities in highly corrupt countries completely fairly, then our politicians in Europe should be able to do it too.

I have great hope that Ukraine, the Baltics, and Poland together with us Vikings in the North will be able to form a strong group that thinks alike and pulls in the same direction in the future.

Now we just have to make sure that we do not lose the Baltics just when we have decided, or that Ukraine retreats back to Lviv, but the framework is there for a strong defense to the east so that the hordes beyond the walls cannot manage to crawl over.

A good start, simply put.

    Good summary of the situation.
Especially the closing statement “I have high hopes…” is completely in line with what I think.
    Thank you.

In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders stopped 100 attacks from the attacker in the areas around the inhabited areas of Majak, Nikanorivka, Fedorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrolyubivka, Pokrovsk, Lysivka, Zvirove, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Filia, and Yalta. Measures are being taken to block the enemy, who is trying to infiltrate and gather in the city of Pokrovsk. Active resistance to attempts by the enemy’s infantry groups to fortify their position continues. In Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defense forces are conducting offensive search operations. This includes stormtroopers from 425 OSP, operators from SBS, composite groups from SSOP, VSP ZSU, SBU, NGU, and GUR MOU. The military units defending the city have been reinforced.

In the Oleksandrivskij direction, defense forces repelled 31 hostile storm actions in the areas around the settlements of Zelenij Gaj, Ivanivka, Oleksandrograd, Piddubne, Sichneve, Vorone, Sosnivka, Stepove, Verbove, Pryvilne, Novohryhorivka, and Pershotravneve.

In the direction of Dnipro, Ukrainian units repelled two enemy attacks towards the Antonivsky bridge.

In the Volynskij and Poliskij directions, there are no signs of the enemy forming attack groups being detected.”

      1. Davidov: looks tricky in Myrnograd. Confirms Pokrovsk mosaic/lawn, that it’s not as bad as portrayed from different directions. At the same time, Pokrovsk is being leveled with the ground. Becomes as difficult to defend as a field without trees. Something more is needed to weaken the Russian concentration around Pokrovsk to prevent a new Bakhmut/Avdiivka.

  3. Many sensible thoughts in today’s update about restricting freedoms, maintaining politics, a streamlined EU focused on freedoms, JEF, and not least about the war in Ukraine and the West sitting on its hands.

  4. Yes, good of Johan to point out the problems in the West. The EU has become a regulatory workshop governed by technocrats. Everything becomes cumbersome and full of obstacles. Climate policy hangs like a cold, wet hand over the development that has turned more into dismantling. Add to that the senseless migration to the EU. If you want problems, you’ll get them.

  5. The video shows a military vehicle being hit by a Russian drone during the operation. A Ukrainian soldier was lightly injured.

“He refused to be evacuated and said he would complete the mission. He reached the target and raised the flag,” said Fighter, commander of the 1st Storm Battalion in the 425th Regiment, in the video.

Ukrainian drone operators later “eliminated” Russian soldiers, and Ukrainian troops reached the city hall in Pokrovsk.

“We did our job – advanced into the building, cleared out the enemy, and raised the Ukrainian flag,” added Kep, a soldier in the brigade.”

  6. ⚡️Important objects belonging to the Russian occupiers have been hit.

⚡️On the night of November 5, 2025, units from the Ukrainian defense forces hit a base for storage, assembly, and launch of UAVs of the “Shahed” type in the temporarily occupied Donetsk (area around Donetsk airport). According to objective checks, explosions and powerful secondary detonations were registered on the facility’s territory. The mission was carried out by units from the missile forces and artillery, unmanned systems forces (414th brigade), and special forces within the Ukrainian armed forces.

⚡️The defense forces also hit the Volgograd refinery in the Volgograd region of Russia. The annual processing volume of petroleum products at this refinery amounts to 15.7 million tons (5.6% of the total processing in Russia). Explosions and fires have been registered in the target area.

⚡️In order to reduce the enemy’s logistical capacity in the temporarily occupied Crimea, three objects for petroleum products were hit. At the oil base in the town of Gvardeiskij, a successful hit was registered in a tank and tanks with petroleum products on a tank platform. Tank parks were hit at two fuel bases in Simferopol. Fires in fuel tanks have been registered.

⚡️The defense forces consistently carry out a series of measures to disable critical parts of the military and industrial infrastructure in the aggressor state, both on its territory and in the temporarily occupied areas, in order to deprive the enemy of its offensive capacity and the ability to continue aggression.

    1. The USA is definitely heading in the wrong direction.

Was it the only way the pendulum could swing when it went too far in the other direction, doesn’t it usually turn out that way?

    2. Well, Trump’s foreign policy has been an incessant flapping back and forth, but domestic policy has been consistent. He is trying to build a dictatorship around himself similar to Putin. Unfortunately, he has so far succeeded quite well. By appointing incompetent loyalists to important positions, he knows they will follow his will out of a sense of gratitude. He is trying to transform the National Guard into his own private army.

Soon, officers will be forced to swear allegiance to Trump instead of the constitution, or resign.

The army will significantly decline in quality, as decision-making moves further from the front lines, and inventiveness and initiative are replaced by command warfare and meat waves. It is a fact that dictatorships are bad at war.

  7. 😡 Russia Has Destroyed Kinburn Spit and Askania-Nova — Two of Ukraine’s Natural Treasures

According to the Ukrainian Navy, Russia has completely destroyed the Kinburn Spit — a unique peninsula where the Dnipro River meets the Black Sea. Along with it, one of Europe’s most famous nature reserves, Askania-Nova, has been devastated.

Kinburn Spit was more than a landscape — it was a sanctuary of rare species, a place where forests, steppes, and sea merged into one fragile ecosystem. Askania-Nova was even older — a 19th-century biosphere reserve that once symbolized harmony between humans and nature, a site protected by UNESCO for its biodiversity and wild horses that roamed freely under the southern sun.

Now, both are gone — burned, mined, and bombed by an army that destroys everything it cannot possess.

Russia hasn’t just attacked cities and people; it has declared war on life itself. Forests, rivers, animals — everything alive becomes a target. This is not collateral damage. It’s a pattern: from Mariupol’s ruins to the poisoned Dnipro, from the flooded lands of Kakhovka to the ashes of Askania-Nova.

Empires always erase beauty first, because beauty reminds them of what they’ll never create.

The loss of these places is a wound not only for Ukraine, but for the planet. The question now isn’t whether Kinburn Spit will be restored — but whether humanity will remember that silence in the face of such destruction is complicity.

When it is not politically correct to call evil evil, when evil is financed by many companies and countries in the world, it expands to the entire world, and everyone who invested in it and lobbied for the interests of evil has poisoned themselves, their loved ones, their country, and the entire planet.

  8. Great post today!

I have a slightly different view on the EU. We would need an even stronger EU if we are to compete with China (and the USA) and also militarily against Russia.

For example, if we didn’t have the EU, every country in Europe would probably face 30-40% tariffs against the USA (except maybe Germany and France).

Some industrial projects are enormously costly, where more co-financing and coordination would be needed.

I also believe we would need a standing army of 200 – 300,000 men where each country contributes, so we can quickly deploy them, for example in the Baltics if things were to get serious there. But also when it comes to an overarching view on manufacturing and procurement.

Certainly, all countries and their inhabitants are different so it’s not possible to control everything in detail, but the USA functions with all its states and yet they are all Americans despite significant differences between the states.

I think the EU would need to run some campaigns to make us feel more like Europeans and then the willingness to cooperate would probably also grow.

Those who complain and want to leave the EU are useful idiots for both China and Russia (note, I’m not saying that you, Johan, have claimed that you want to leave, but there are far too many such fools).

As mentioned, the EU is the only chance to stand up to China (and if necessary, the USA).

    1. Yes, we need a stronger EU but not a more authoritarian EU.

The absolute easiest thing in times like these is to become a bit more authoritarian yourself, but then you have just chopped off one head of the hydra and gotten five more.

The tensions you see in the EU today will not decrease because the EU has more say – instead of taking a tougher stance against China, the focus will be on trying to regulate our companies even more.

The EU operates just like all the movements we have in Europe that demonstrate against us when they should be demonstrating against China and Russia.

One does what brings the most return and is the easiest.

Of course, we should stand up to Russia and China ourselves, but we can still do that.

Which industrial projects are you thinking of now that nations cannot afford?

And doesn’t the EU already have this funding?

Standing EU army – then it must be under the command of the EU, I guess?

And can it fight on European soil?

Maybe we should send it to Hungary or Poland if they don’t shape up?

Europeans, that we are one people, right?

I, on the contrary, believe that national pride of countries should be emphasized more but that we cooperate.

Having lived abroad since 2006, I am still only Swedish but think the EU is good for moving around and working in – it’s sufficient.

The basic idea with the EU was that there should be no war, and then we got free trade and free movement, which we should have.

Now today in 2025, it turns out that security is not working, and we have no common foreign policy, but the EU is treated as a unit in trade.

In my opinion, the EUR was not good, but some countries benefited enormously from it and others a little less. But maybe a unified currency is needed – probably it is, right?

But could Sweden, with its 10 million inhabitants, have managed anyway?

We have Frontex, but several countries still serve as entry points into the EU to the extent that we have started reintroducing internal border controls.

Interpol is good, but same there – some countries just don’t want to, the UK was the ruble paradise that didn’t want to lose it.

The only way to strengthen the EU is to give more power to the EU, which automatically transfers national decisions to the EU.

Considering how the EU has evolved and the tensions that have arisen from more power being transferred to the EU, I think it’s a terrible idea for further power shifts to occur in favor of the EU technocrats.

Does JEF show that it works anyway?

And the fact that half of Europe has been pledging its serfdom to China despite the EU’s formal hardline stance clearly shows that if countries are not on board, nothing will change anyway?

      1. Now we have probably also overregulated Sweden because it is somewhat in the times that when hiring administrators and parasites, they should try to find tasks for themselves that justify their salaries, and a standard move is to start setting rules, guidelines, and requirements for what the parasites should do for new tasks, and it never ends – it constantly increases.

Then the cycle starts again, and you begin to lay off this overloaded group in bad times.

The EU is exactly the same – too many people with too little to do invent all sorts of requirements and rules that are completely impossible to follow.

So, after 3 years, I am still waiting for the County Administrative Board’s approval to dig 20m (yes, you read that right) district heating pipeline from the connection point to my house.

The municipality informs that if you try to push them, my application will end up at the bottom of the pile.

        Three years!!!!!

        1. “The municipality states that if you try to pressure them, my application will end up at the bottom of the pile.”

          Isn’t that a threat?”

          1. Abuse of power is probably quite common if people have been given power without being voted in, and if those whose cases they decide on don’t have the power to get them fired. Like, all inspectors in nature and environment.

    2. Sensible standpoint.

On one hand, the EU would need a common security policy in terms of defense and internal security. Linked to this, a common foreign policy, and ultimately a president with power delegated by the participating states to make supranational decisions within this framework and enforce them. Whether it concerns defense operations, police interventions, or tariffs/sanctions against external states.

On the other hand, an otherwise minimal administration where the keywords include “free”: freedom of movement, free trade, economic freedom, freedom of speech.

The above can be achieved through a reform of the current organization, or in a two-tier principle where the former (supranationality) presupposes the latter (freedoms). A state/country can thus choose to only participate in freedoms (similar to EFTA now), while the other is the EU but streamlined from everything (e.g. minus EFTA and all the bells and whistles).

For example, today we have Norway within EFTA, but outside the EU. If for Norway, the EU only means adding cooperation in defense, foreign policy, perhaps the threshold decreases for the desire to join the EU. The same goes for the UK and Canada.

How to solve decisions on tariffs/sanctions made by Slim EU, which are related to free trade and separate from the EU, must be solved in some way.

    3. Had too much to do yesterday, maybe late to reply now.

I agree, the downside is of course increased bureaucracy and administration that leads to slow decisions, unnecessary nitpicking in details, and of course costs.

But this is something that needs to be countered everywhere and always, as Johan points out, we already have it in Sweden. At the same time, if some of the handling of overarching laws and regulations can be decided in the EU, then on the other hand, each individual country can sit and investigate the same things. So there is also a certain benefit to it.

One problem with the EU is that everyone seems to think that it is something that happens elsewhere and something they don’t need or want to bother about. Individual major issues are raised, but otherwise, it’s quite weak.

However, the entire politics has been watered down, but when it comes to the EU, I wish that the parties should be much clearer about which issues and which policies they intend to pursue within the EU. It’s not so strange that the ideological direction is the same, but within the EU, it’s about completely different types of issues.

  9. News from the defenders via Kenneth Gregg:

Since the seminar tonight has also attracted attention from the military, I was asked to publish the following statement from the highest military authorities. I have used Google Translate due to time constraints. Enjoy

“There is no encirclement of our units and units in the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration,” – the General Staff

The General Staff reported that the armed forces are currently blocking the enemy, who is trying to infiltrate and gather in Pokrovsko. Active resistance to attempts by enemy infantry groups to gain a foothold continues.

In Pokrovsko, the Ukrainian defense forces are conducting attack and search operations. In particular, assault units from the 425th Special Operations Battalion, SBS operators, combined groups from SSpO, VSP from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, NGU, and GUR from the Ministry of Defense have been involved. Military units defending the city have been reinforced.

Just in the past day, our soldiers have eliminated 26 occupiers near Pokrovsko, and another 64 intruders were injured. In total, the losses of Russian troops in the Pokrovskoje direction since the beginning of the week have amounted to: 249 occupiers (of which 159 were irreversible), 7 drone checkpoints, 26 units of car and motorcycle equipment, a tank, and an armored vehicle.

At the same time, work is underway to strengthen the defense flanks in the Pokrovsko-Mirnograd agglomeration, secure and protect logistics routes. The Dobropil operation is ongoing. In the past day, Ukrainian assault units have advanced from 100 m to 700 m in some directions. In total, during the operation, up to November 5, 2025, 188.9 km² have been liberated and 249.9 km² have been cleared of enemy DRG.”

  11. I am a bit hesitant about whether this is good or not – UA has sent in the best they have in Pokrovsk, their most valuable units like Alpha.

This is not attractive terrain at all for them in drone-saturated combat in the area and these are among the world’s best SOF who would be more useful in depth.

    1. “If someone does not sign an order to withdraw troops from Pokrovsk and Myrnhohrad in the near future, we may find ourselves in a situation where we will not only lose a significant number of highly motivated paratroopers and marines,” journalist and volunteer Vitalii Deineha, co-founder of the Come Back Alive fund, wrote on Facebook.

“We may find ourselves in a situation where there is no one to patch the hole in the front, and the fortifications dug in our rear will quickly fall to the enemy.””

Only 4 km to the border with Russia: what the village of #Oleksiivka in #Sumy region, devastated by the enemy, looks like

In the village of Oleksiivka, Khotin community, Sumy region, there is not a single surviving house left.

Russian occupation forces completely destroyed the settlement.

As of November 5, Oleksiivka remains under occupation. A video showing the scale of the destruction was posted on Facebook by the Pentagon drone battalion, part of the 225th separate assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The soldiers’ press service noted that the Defense Forces are continuing operations to liberate this area. Units of the 225th Special Forces Regiment are also involved: assault groups, strike and reconnaissance UAVs, reconnaissance and artillery.

“Systematic, coordinated work. The fighting continues, and every day brings closer the moment when the Ukrainian flag will fly over Oleksiyivka again,” the Ukrainian fighters assured.

“The terrifying footage from there reminds us: not long ago, life was bustling here, children were laughing, people were working. Now every meter is being fought for with blood,” the servicemen added.

However, neither the SVT series “Whiskey on the rocks” nor two current books about the incident take these facts into account and instead spread disinformation, writes Lars-Erik De Geer, associate professor of nuclear physics, who was involved in revealing that the Soviet submarine was carrying nuclear weapons.
