Now we are past the disappointment that Europe has not learned the 2025 war yet and that Poland’s attempt at “force posture” at the border with Belarus is just a bunch of FPV drone targets driving around. The fact that we haven’t bothered to learn is incomprehensible to me but apparently that’s how it is, and after I chose to tell the truth, more and more leaders in Europe are starting to follow my example and do the same, which is good. They all read the blog so it’s quite understandable that those with integrity can’t hold back any longer.
Then Poland wants all the equipment we should send to Ukraine, which is ridiculous, cowardly, and weak, but it is in line with how Europe has behaved throughout a whole war.
The damn Romanians escort a Russian Geran through their airspace until it turns back into Ukraine and its goal 😡
Then they sit and complain on social media about all the hate they receive when they have been complicit in aiding murder.
It took just one little test by Putin for Europe to completely embarrass itself, with the exception of a few sensible countries. The dangerous thing is that Putin could interpret this as us being cowardly and indecisive and consider increasing drone activity or completely misunderstand that we do not intend to defend the Baltics.
My self-image of Europe is shattered now because if there was something I believed, it was that we had used this time to learn the 2025 war so that when the drone attack finally came, it would be shot down 100m from the border. Not that 80% of the drones crashed due to running out of fuel 370km into Poland, and that Poland started cascading in tears.
Didn’t Ukraine stop shooting expensive robots at Geran a year ago?
Is it really the case that Europe’s leaders still do not understand that Ukraine stands between us and war with Russia – are they so poorly informed about this?
We have been saying this since 2022 and that is also the reason why many of us follow this war as intensively as we do because Ukraine is our bulwark and also the adults in the room.
We understood this already in 2022 but having missed reading Johan No.1 is not a valid excuse forever 😡
The likelihood of a full conflict with NATO is probably small at present and apparently not until 2028 according to all experts, but IF Russia were to get a feeling, every single one forgets their twilight mode plans from the Cold War that have surely been dusted off by 2025. It is never part of any discussion with those who want to argue with me that I am exaggerating – comments are pouring in on all channels now upset over my defeatism.
In these patriotic comments, the mechanized brigades roll towards Moscow and the heavy attack sweeps over the Baltic Sea – we tried this during a few summer months in 1940 with meager results at first, having prepared for the previous war and thinking that we are invincible.
And after the Cold War, Europe understood how much shorter notice they had than they thought, Russian GTD equipment was stored disguised as sheds near the western border. They had never had the warning when tanks rolled on the trains at the regimental sites, instead only 12-24 hours or something similar.
During the Cold War in Sweden, in a twilight mode, they would try to kill all the pilots, mine the runways again, and blow up as many Viggen aircraft as they could before the air force moved to road bases.
Then they hoped that only five aircraft would remain without missiles for they had been blown up in the mob depots.
The saboteurs were a mix of traitors, embedded Spetznaz, and previously infiltrated spies and saboteurs who had been living in the country. They would show up in home guard uniforms, police uniforms, and military uniforms they had stolen earlier.
They intended to set up ambushes at mob depots and have police cordons that caught those on their way to assembly points, in addition to blowing up as many depots as possible, of course.
They aimed to kill politicians and high-ranking officers, blow up power supply, bomb subways, train networks, and anything possible to create maximum chaos and delay our mobilization.
They planned to poison the water supply at regimental sites and if you remember, the defense forces tested it in Boden in the 90s, the whole regiment and half of Boden were at home sick. They were probably quite dismayed after that result and how easy it was to knock out a whole brigade, besides probably getting a good scolding 😀
In 2024, we issued 400,000 Schengen visas to Russian citizens and everyone laughs at my “gangs are system-threatening” but they are mercenaries that can be hired – for the murders above, for example.
They are already in the country and before they do anything, they cannot be arrested – almost better than the spy rings during the Cold War.
Today, we have infinitely worse protection around our bases due to drone weapons, and if Ukraine could knock out 40% of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet, Russia can do the same.
Below is my proposal for a twilight mode before full-scale war in Europe –
An attack on Europe will not be that on day one they roll over the border and we meet them with our mechanized forces and then combat the heavy attack targets throughout Russia so we win the war by day four.
Our deployed high-value aircraft will be fought with FPV drones, and when they are about to take off, the gangs with manpads are waiting. Only Sweden had the road base system, all others had some large air bases.
They will try to blow up our missile and ammunition depots that they can access, and today they are much more centralized and accessible than during the Cold War.
The fleets will run into underwater mines, sabotage groups with anti-ship missiles in the military sea lanes, submarines further out, and initially pure sabotage against the ships at the dock.
You don’t need to sink a ship, it’s enough if the engine is cut or the fire control system is damaged, right?
They will try to kill pilots, officers, and politicians with the gangs before they go into staff mode or mobilize. Everyone will get a visit from food delivery services, DHL, Postnord, who when they open the door, put a bullet in them.
I don’t know how it is with service weapons, but when I was going to join the home guard a year ago, which didn’t happen because they have no real missions on Zoom, you keep the weapon in the armory and not at home.
I was accepted, by the way – made it through this veritable needle’s eye for the elite of the elite. Another point on the list of the million things I almost did.
All our governments also try to disarm the citizens as much as possible, so our preparedness for a twilight situation is not exactly better than during the Cold War when the door-to-door salesmen would knock, right?
Since we are evidently reactive now, the first strike, IF it comes, will be from Russia, right? We will not preemptively clean up among gangs, Russians, and criminal clans in Europe as we should for several reasons.
I say like Churchill – never take a chance, strike first and hit damn hard 💥💥💥
A lot of wisdom from him over the years, and I have learned from them.
Russia is constantly scouting with hundreds of drone flyovers per month. Sabotage against our air forces, fleets, and war industry we already have, but not at all at the level required before a war breaks out in a twilight scenario.
The power grid will be sabotaged with extensive power outages, and key mobilization points will be targeted for bombings, such as T-Centralen, airports, train stations, and the railway network.
Is our railway network electrified?
Even before we attempt to mobilize, all airports and train stations will be closed.
And finally, mine the distances and have the drone screen deployed when our brigades are supposed to reach their assembly areas if it is in the Baltics after Russia has attacked first – which they will do because we do not intend to group before a conflict as we should according to the mission description.
Europe is absolutely not ready for any of this, I can almost guarantee that because our security services no longer secretly kill Russians to protect our democracies (I think 😶).
We barely have any home guard left and no mobilizable defense guard for high-value targets, and now the police are supposed to have a civilian function in case of war – no preparedness police either.
Looks the same all over Europe more or less.
Russia today has the same or even greater organization in Europe as during the Cold War, and they can operate almost undisturbed. Probably with better organization since criminal clans are infiltrated throughout civil society and can also be hired beyond the gangs’ “deadly-gun-for-best-price-bro.”
If they’re stingy, they can just place an order with the strawberry guy for 30 murders for a few bucks per murder.
I think this has completely disappeared from the debate, and mostly it’s just a lot of big words about how we will crush Russia if they try, but if you want peace, you should prepare for war.
This is something Europe has not done, except for Finland.
Now that we have only prepared for peace, we might as well get the war instead 😀
Something new, and I was wrong the first time in three years –
Ukraine shot down half of the drones flying towards Poland, whether they shot down Geran and let decoys pass, I don’t know.
So I was wrong in saying that Ukraine let them through.

Bloomberg has an article about Ukraine possibly going too far, and Europe getting upset with them. I thought Europe was on board…

Drone attacks, demonstrations in the UK (upcoming!), demonstrations in France, election influence in Germany are probably all attempts to influence Europe to try to limit Ukraine.
At this point, Ukraine stopped last time with the bombing of Russian high-value targets.
We’ll see what Europe’s leaders say and do in the future, it will be interesting, and I’ll keep an eye out. 😀
If Ukraine stops droning refineries and infrastructure before 100% is shot down, it’s because they’ve been stopped by Europe since they lack drones.
It is quite clear that Russia intends to increase the pace in the Baltics, probably best done with “Estonian partisans” and anonymous green men, as well as a lot of sabotage. They do not want to trigger NATO Article 5 and will try to go as far as they can under that.
We know what the USA plans to do if they can get away with it – nothing.
Europe is evidently deviating from the job description regarding the units that should be in the Baltics in the event of a conflict because the brigades should be there with an increased threat level and Zapad 25 and the drone cloud over Poland the other day.
They probably understand that if they face the war of 2025, there will only be decimated capability left, which is also why they have reduced troops in Ukraine unless guaranteed peace, but even the cowards barely dare that.
Europe has absolutely zero interest in risking our heavy equipment in war right now – it couldn’t be more obvious.
What remains then are our special forces in all their forms in Europe – a resource that is already better suited for the warfare of 2025 today and also provides the opportunity for “full deniability” while denying Russia the achievement of any of its goals in the Baltics.
Probably that’s where we will end up in the best-case scenario, as Europe already has quite a bit of capability sneaking around in the forests, and Russia will try to infiltrate its capability so that it becomes a hidden high-intensity war that both parties deny – because no one wants to activate Article 5.
It will be lively in the Baltic forests in the future; I don’t think Ukraine has anything to spare reasonably, otherwise, they wouldn’t want to miss it.
It will sort out the Baltics but not Ukraine at all.
Ukraine has done well so far, and down in Crimea, the droning now seems more like pre-emptive action, so there is some suspicion of a certain push 🧐
Did you see our weapons package to Ukraine the other day 🧐
Moreover, Russia has withdrawn its task forces from the Dnieper front, so it can hardly get any better than this.
The asymmetric warfare that we declared in 2023 would win the war before they were stopped can now be seen by everyone that it will win the war in the long run if they are allowed to continue.
This has been said a few times now – how Europe acts in the future will have a significant impact on how this goes. So far, Poland has completely messed up, but with a bit of luck, maybe it was a collective wake-up call that they embarrassed themselves?
As this develops now, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, Siversk, and northern Luhansk will be abandoned over time, all else being equal, and Ukraine will retreat to its main defense line.
The time they buy is for the strategic drone war that harms Russia.
Ukraine may try to increase the pace with the “Azov thrust.”
If Russia attacks from Belarus or out of Transnistria, Ukraine will have problems.
They have handled worse than that, for sure, but we don’t really know how bad their ground troops are, as we have a positive bias.
At Kamyanske, they are also retreating

You can see Lyman for yourself

Kupiansk

RU is weak at the Dnieper now, which is an opportunity.

But at Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, RU has gathered a lot of capability and intends to advance. Ukraine has rushed in its task forces, and it will be bloody.
Can you win the war with a successful strategic drone war?
Did Ukraine surrender when all their infrastructure was bombed in the first year?
Then it remains to combine with a spectacular offensive at the fronts or increase the Russian pressure cooker, which Ukraine is now doing.
But Putin has shown to have the country in a good grip and China is filling in what is missing.
Ukraine has done what was required – in 2022 Putin threatened with piracy but promised that if the West let him back into SWIFT, there would be peace on the world’s oceans.
We were about to say yes and then Ukraine started sinking the Russian Black Sea fleet so it fled in panic to Novorossiysk.
The West didn’t want that either – Moscow probably managed to sink Ukraine because they saw it on the radar in the communications center in Wiesbaden and the Ukrainian liaison officer said he would take a quick smoke and WhatsApped the coordinates already in the stairwell.
The USA was furious about that move but it also tells us how much intel they have withheld from Ukraine.
We have reached a new level in the war – Ukraine is now fighting as they see fit and no longer listening to the USA and apparently Europe as well.
The USA has tried to stop this audacity but they can only go so far in their attempts even if they want to.
Europe is probably divided and Ukraine likely has Scandinavia and the Baltics at least on their side.
Poland has started to falter along with Germany.
The UK and France did not do that and they faced a government crisis and mass demonstrations.
The dark black no one wants to talk about – they are afraid of Putin as individuals.
Tomorrow we will discuss what is needed to win the war, which is a recycling of our battle plans from 2022 and early 2023 that Zelensky is actually still following, I receive a thank you on WhatsApp in between for providing them back in 2022.
By the way, remember all those who wanted to argue with me when I claimed that Ukraine is the world’s best shooter and they sat on their high European or NATO horse.
I think Ukraine has already shown it but there is also a tank that has hit targets 9km away.

The war in Ukraine, Russian losses 2025-09-16
SLAVA UKRAINI
“The European Commission says the 19th sanctions package against Russia is still being prepared. Officials confirm work is underway with global partners, focusing on cutting Russian fossil fuels, targeting the shadow fleet, and countering sanctions circumvention.”
“Ryska sabotörer förklädda i civila kläder försökte infiltrera Yampil, Donetsk-regionen, för sabotageoperationer i bakre områden. Vissa gömde sig i hus och källare, använde civila som mänskliga sköldar. Ukrainska styrkor genomförde anti-terroråtgärder, neutraliserade grupperna och återställde kontrollen.”
As I have written a few times, Zelensky’s rhetoric has changed recently.
Now he says outright what he thinks. He has realized that he won’t get anywhere by acting submissively or flattering Trump and trying to appeal to his vanity.
“❗️Putin is trying to deceive Trump. He came out of isolation, took a photo with him and got a public dialogue, – Zelensky. He called on Trump to take a “clear position” and take “resolute personal measures” to stop Putin and end the war in Ukraine.”

Almost pitch black today Johan, almost sounds like it’s just as well for Europe to give up, we don’t stand a chance against Russia!
Don’t share the view but as usual completely agree that Europe should have done much more and much earlier.
We are like the colossus on clay feet that was joked about long ago when it came to the Soviet Union. Everything takes too long.
Lucky that you’re coming with the victory plans tomorrow, maybe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel?
Also lucky that we have Ukraine defending Europe, completely agree with the praises of them!
Today there was the sabotage in the twilight zone?
Considering the level of sabotage already with hundreds arrested for the forest fires, it’s probably time to start thinking in terms of Russia dusting off the Cold War playbook.
—
You and everyone see this in black and white – no, we will not go under, we will run over Russia.
You and everyone else can be 100% confident that Russia and China are trying to cause a financial crash in Europe right now and that the USA is not directly opposing it.
Do we have our own raw materials and production to counteract it?
—
The first strike is quite important, if it goes well, it prolongs the war by a few years. A Russian first strike IF it happens, I think we roughly know how it will go.
—
Within 1-2 years, Europe will adapt and become a formidable opponent, but then we will have gone through the same trauma as Ukraine, which is what we aim to avoid.
Johan, in the thread from yesterday you bring up this link as evidence that Ukraine was prevented from attacking oil refineries and depots:
https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/4017977-cinc-syrskyi-urges-us-eu-to-provide-more-air-defense-and-allow-strikes-deep-into-russia.html
It states that they do not receive enough long-range weapons from the USA and Europe (ATACMS and Taurus) and that they want to avoid restrictions on these.
Not a word about them being forbidden to strike deep with their own weapons, or that they are not allowed to strike refineries and depots.
Of course, they may still have been forbidden to do so, but I cannot find anything proving that in the article.
“More medium- and long-range missiles, including American ATACMS and German Taurus systems, would allow Kyiv, provided restrictions on their use were lifted, to slow down Russian weapons production by targeting infrastructure that manufactures missiles and drones, the newspaper writes.
“The availability of any missile weapons is in itself a deterrent. I hope that thanks to President Trump’s position, this process will be much easier and … we won’t have any of the difficulties we had before,” Syrskyi added.”
Aha Senhor 🧐
Okay, I’m in – no one can actually prevent Ukraine from fighting whatever they want in Russia with whatever weapons they want, even the weapons they have received from the West. So if we break it down to just that, you are absolutely right.
Just as little as I can stop you from shooting your neighbor you are more than fed up with – a teetotaler who also goes to church on Sundays and coaches the kids’ soccer team.
However, as a state, I can encourage you not to do it by dangling a harsh punishment.
Yes – the USA has stopped with their weapons, and up until the point where Ukraine did not have enough of their own weapons, it was enough to appear deterrent to them.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/23/pentagon-ukraine-russia-missiles
Germany never sent any Taurus at all.
The Pentagon would approve every target, and Ukraine never got responses to things that were fun.
The UK had a team that plugged in target coordinates in SS so that it wouldn’t go wrong.
—
Now Ukraine has its own robots and drones and has actually started fighting almost everything with few exceptions.
Trump has already complained – I have posted his statements before 2-3 times.
Europe remains silent.
Bloomberg posts a teaser that Europe is starting to get angry.
Russia is increasing pressure on Europe to get angry at Ukraine with drones into Poland.
—
Earlier in the war, everything happened behind closed doors, and a year or two later, Ukraine confirmed it in various ways.
It’s a bit unique, so it doesn’t happen too often and it’s good for historians.
—
So my claim is as follows – if Ukraine suddenly stops fighting this puzzle of high-value targets before they have achieved what they want or all are defeated – then they have once again yielded to the West.
Nevertheless, you must agree that this is the most likely scenario if we look back three years, even if you want to be a great analyst and question everything I write 😀
Off-Topic – USA
Below we have four news stories where we see examples of:
“The Trump administration orders that images and information about slavery in the USA be removed from several national parks, reports the Washington Post citing sources.
The decision has been made in response to Trump’s presidential order to eliminate information that reflects a ‘harmful ideology’ that denigrates historical Americans. The directives have been interpreted ‘broadly’ and at the US National Park Service, it is being adapted to everything related to racism, sexism, slavery, and LGBTQ rights, writes WP.” https://omni.se/bilder-och-information-om-slaveriet-tvingas-bort/a/63LJgQ
“Federal authorities in the USA have begun work to map what they describe as left-wing organizations that finance or support hatred or violence against conservatives after the murder of debater Charlie Kirk. This is reported by government sources to the New York Times and Washington Post.
According to the sources, it is still undecided what the mapping will be used for once it is completed.” https://omni.se/kallor-myndigheter-i-usa-kartlagger-vanstern-efter-mordet-pa-kirk/a/KMo4o4
“USA’s President Donald Trump is suing the New York Times for $15 billion, equivalent to 140 billion kronor, for defamation and libel, he writes on Truth Social.
In his post, Trump calls the newspaper ‘one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in our country’s history.’ He alleges that it has become a mouthpiece for the Democrats, complains that the newspaper supported Kamala Harris in the presidential election, and accuses the newspaper of lying about him and his family.”
“‘The New York Times has been allowed to lie, slander, and defame me for far too long. Now it’s over.’ https://omni.se/trump-stammer-new-york-times-pa-15-miljarder-dollar/a/4BMkVE
“Donald Trump has ordered the National Guard to Memphis, Tennessee to put an end to an alleged crime wave in the city. The President himself describes the operation as a copy of a similar operation in Washington DC earlier this year.
‘It’s very important because of all the ongoing crime,’ says Trump during a press conference on Monday evening, Swedish time.
Critics argue that the action undermines states’ self-determination and pushes the USA in an authoritarian direction.” https://omni.se/trump-skickar-nationalgardet-till-memphis/a/MnOGMR
Fck Trump 😡
Good if one can reach the left-wing extremists well?
If one is to create a dictatorship from a democracy, one must be ruthless. Control the media, neutralize opponents, take personal control of the apparatus of violence.

“More Russian channels admit the Sumy “buffer zone operation” has stalled. Milblogger Two Majors says advances near Yunakivka reach only 14 km at best. He also notes growing pressure near Oleksiivka, where Ukrainian flank attacks and drone strikes are threatening to cut off the Russian salient.”
An example of what Johan writes, that one is afraid of Putin.
“Romanian President Nicușor Dan said Bucharest “rather does not support” imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, warning it would mean entering the war with Russia. He noted the position could change depending on future developments.”

“At night, the Russians attacked rescuers in the Kyiv region while they were extinguishing a fire. In particular, as a result of a Russian drone attack, a fire broke out in the parking area of a shopping center. However, the Russians struck again while rescuers were already on the scene.”
“This is a ridiculous idea. Trump is using the cover of Russian sanctions to make the EU join his trade war against the rest of the world. This would – first and foremost – leave the EU isolated and vulnerable to more US tariffs.”
Regarding Bessent’s statement:
“⚡️ Europe must ‘do their share now before US slaps China tariffs over Russian oil, Bessent says. “I guarantee you that if Europe put on substantial secondary tariffs on the buyers of Russian oil, the war would be over in 60 or 90 days,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.”
https://bsky.app/profile/kyivindependent.com/post/3lywnsxheps2p
Trump will not impose sanctions on Russia, he is just using it to control Europe. When we have met the first requirements, the next will come. He pretends to scold Hungary and Slovakia, but he only does it because it is expected of him.
It could be interesting considering that Zelenskyy has raised the tone. By the way, I wonder if he will ignore the suit this time.

“Ridiculous,” said Bill. Bull added something that didn’t contradict Bill.

😄
Out of 208 reported conflicts, 187 were distributed along the front as follows. S Slobozhansky (Kharkiv, etc.) continues to push upwards. The same goes for Siviersk, which has ended up level with the Lyman front, which is also somewhat calmer than it was this summer. The pressure in the triad Toretsk-Pokrovsk-Novopavlivka is still as it has been for most of the summer.

Confirmed results of attacks on Russian occupiers’ command posts
It has been confirmed that enemy personnel, including officers, have been affected.
We remind you that on September 8, 2025, units from the Ukrainian defense forces carried out a comprehensive fire attack on Russian forces’ command posts in the temporarily occupied area in Donetsk oblast.
Using missile forces, artillery, air force, and unmanned systems from the Ukrainian defense forces, in cooperation with other parts of the defense forces, the command posts of the troop grouping (forces) “Center” and the 41st General Army of the Russian Ground Forces were hit. It is these military formations that are acting in the Pokrovsk direction.
Before that, on August 28, the Minister of Defense of the attacking country, Andrei Bilousov, visited the Russian forces’ command posts in this area. Shortly after his visit, the specified locations of the occupying army’s command were successfully hit.
💥🔥👍✊ Now there are reports that the Saratov oil refinery has been attacked for the second time tonight!
It was also attacked on August 10, so it was probably appropriate that it was targeted again.
Hopefully it will be as I wrote earlier, that they will make another round to all refineries now that they are probably finishing up the repairs.
“The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of September 16, 2025, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratov Oil Refinery.” https://bsky.app/profile/wartranslated.bsky.social/post/3lywug7ek522f

“Children who have been kidnapped from Ukraine and moved to Russia are forced to manufacture drones and other military equipment that are then used in the war. This is shown in a new report from Yale University, which The Telegraph has access to.
According to the investigation, the children have been placed in 210 different locations in Russia. In some of these places, they are forced to work. In particular, the all-Russian children’s center “Change” in southern Krasnodar Krai stands out. Over 300 children from various regions in Ukraine have been placed there since the start of the invasion in 2022. During the day, they are tasked with constructing drones, mine detectors, robots, and fast chargers for automatic rifles, as reported by The Telegraph.”

Next year, two more are expected to be completed, one in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg.
– In some facilities, quite extensive renovations may be required, and then it becomes very costly, says Henrik Larsson, head of civil protection at MSB, to SVT.”

Donald Trump has pressured both the EU and now also NATO to impose sanctions on countries trading with Russian oil and gas. For the EU, it is relatively easy to get member states to phase out energy, but other demands from the US president are almost impossible to meet. Politico writes in a review where they list how difficult the demands are to comply with.
The site writes that it would be difficult for NATO countries to phase out Russian oil, mainly because of Turkey, which has made significant profits from continuing to buy and distribute the commodity.
In the trade agreement with the USA, the EU has promised to buy American energy. But it will be very difficult to fulfill, according to Politico. Partly because the amount exceeds the total US exports.
As a final pressure, Trump wants the EU to impose sanctions on China, among other things for buying Russian oil. But the site considers this completely unreasonable to achieve. The economic ties run deep, and it would harm the EU economically to impose sanctions on one of its largest trading partners.
“It would be enormously harmful,” says David Henig of the think tank ECIPE.
Good, right?
Fck Trump 😡
Trump is using the crisis to undermine Europe and enrich himself. Sometimes he says things that he knows we want to hear, but everything he does only benefits himself or some other dictator.
“Ryska agenter förklädda till civila försökte infiltrera Yampil, Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainas 11:e armékår säger att de gömde sig i hem och källare, använde civila som sköldar. De upptäcktes, blockerades och neutraliserades.”

A large part of the issue of inertia in both Sweden and Europe stems from the Cold War.
During the Cold War, both the Soviet Union and East Germany – through Stasi (East Germany was a satellite republic under the Soviets), had an enormous network of deeply integrated individuals across Europe, at all levels of society.
So the wall fell, the Soviet Union dissolved, and “the eternal peace” ensued.
But what happened to all these individuals who were part of the Soviet machinery?? It wasn’t exactly a mass exodus of people to either East Germany or the rest of the Soviet sphere. So, what happened to these people??
If we roughly assume the following: about 50% ceased their activities, for various reasons. Of the remaining half, we can assume that about half have passed away over the years. That leaves us with about 25%… and ideologies don’t change overnight…
Then comes the interesting question, what have these individuals been doing over the years? What are they doing today? and, what about their children?
Here probably lies a significant explanation for the inertia that Europe is suffering from, as these are individuals who over the years have secured positions to promote a “triumphant return of the Soviet”… or something like that.
It didn’t take many years before Putin et al came to power, and we can probably safely assume that they, given their KGB background, reconnected with a large number of assets relatively soon. And since then, they have maintained, cultivated, and expanded these.
And, I could be wrong. However, if we look at things from a historical and (Soviet/Russian) intelligence logic, it is most likely that I am correct.
So, to summarize:
The legacy of the Cold War – thousands of deeply integrated agents/sympathizers throughout Europe.
The wall fell – but the people didn’t disappear. Some withdrew, but many remained in politics, culture, business, and authorities.
Putin takes over (from 1999 onwards) – KGB/Stasi networks are activated and maintained.
The result today – part of the EU’s and Europe’s “inertia” can be understood as the effect of remaining networks, old loyalties, and their children who now hold respectable positions.
The point: This is not the whole explanation, but an important puzzle piece as to why Europe has had such a hard time reacting collectively and quickly to the Russian threat.
In West Germany, jobs were given to these individuals, and apparently the STASI managed to hold somewhat together and in recent years formed various criminal networks.
Are we surprised… sigh. [facepalm]
👍 Interesting reasoning and probably true to some extent.
It’s difficult to know how many people it may concern, who continue to dream of a new Soviet/Russian empire and therefore continue and/or resume the activities themselves or through their children, but it’s not unrealistic to believe that there may be enough to actually have an impact.
There is a lot of truth in what Kaitsetahe writes. If we take former East Germany as an example: First, people were indoctrinated by the Nazis, then the dreamland Soviet Union, and afterwards the people were deceived by their own country. Hope lay in reunification and so it happened. But even here, a disappointment as the industry and shipyard jobs disappeared and the West Germans considered themselves superior to their brothers and sisters in the East. It has not been easy for these people. No wonder AfD is popular in the East.
Or did one take their knowledge and pursue a criminal career?
And had contact with Russia which provided everything needed as long as one did a lot of bad things in the host country?
The Russian mafia is probably full of former security agents and has close contacts with the FSB and GRU today.
Yes, it is true that many ended up within the mafia, especially in Russia, and they were pretty much the ones who ruled Russia in the first years of “freedom”.
Then I don’t know if the Russian mafia was or is most active in Russia or if they even have even larger operations in Europe.
Surely, the mafia still influences the hardened path today through threats and extortion, and perhaps financial contributions to the extreme right and left, etc.
Although those who joined the mafia may not be the ones who remained as “ordinary people” and then insinuated themselves and influenced political decisions from within, as I understood Kaitsetahe was thinking.
Isn’t it one of those everyday truths that one learns that a country’s elite needs a country’s criminals?
After all, the Soviet Union used criminals against its citizens, and so far it’s never but the dots are connected – security service, criminals, traitors, influencers in the country.
I had an acquaintance in Stralsund whom I visited a few years ago. He proudly showed off his new Opel that he had bought and received the same day. It had taken him 10 years to buy a car when it was East Germany. He told me how much had improved after the reunification. But then it came as it always did: Everything is not better now. Look at the shipyard. 6,000 employees then, none now. The security is gone.
But he does not want to turn back the clock to old East.
Off-Topic, Israel – Palestine – Gaza
“The escalation is condemned: ”Creating more bloodshed
Israel’s escalated offensive in Gaza City is condemned by the international community. UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk calls the escalation “completely unacceptable” and demands an end to the “massacre,” AFP reports.
– The whole world is crying out for peace. Palestinians and Israelis are crying out for peace, he says.
Britain’s Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper is on the same track and writes on X: ”It will only create more bloodshed, kill more innocent civilians, and put the remaining hostages in danger.”
A spokesperson for UNICEF emphasizes the situation for the civilians remaining in the city.
– It is inhumane to expect nearly half a million children, scarred and traumatized after over 700 days of relentless conflict, to flee from one hell and end up in another, says Tess Ingram according to Reuters.” https://omni.se/eskaleringen-fordoms-skapar-mer-blodspillan/a/1MKALK
“Israeli warplanes carried out a wave of heavy airstrikes over Gaza City during the night. Residents describe the bombings as a ”hell,” according to the BBC.
In the early morning hours, scenes unfolded that have become commonplace in the city: Bodies were dug out of the rubble.
AFP speaks with Abu Abd Zaqout, who in a desperate search for survivors, squeezes his head and hands between cracks in the concrete rubble remaining after a multi-family house. He says there were about 50 people in the house, including women and children.
– We had to pull the children out in pieces, he tells the news agency.
At least 68 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since dawn today, according to hospital sources for Al Jazeera. The vast majority died in the attacks on Gaza City.”

Imagine if the same energy could be focused on Ukraine and their victims, not without feeling that it is a bit unfair to those who have more dead and have been exposed longer than the Palestinians this time.
Now one can juggle two balls in the air, everyone says immediately.
Well, not everyone does it, for example the UN.
I think there are several reasons why it is getting more attention.
1. Civilian casualties in the near term
Estimating the number of dead is a bit difficult (in both cases). For example, we don’t know how many were killed in Mariupol (where figures range from 30-70,000 but no one really knows) and it is probably civilians that engage the most.
Regarding Gaza, estimates are somewhere between 40-60,000 dead and about 100-150,000 injured, with more being added all the time. Additionally, the war is being waged with starvation as a weapon and it hasn’t even been going on for a year.
In Ukraine, not as many civilians are being killed and injured now as at the beginning of the war, and there is no starvation or shortage of supplies there. UN estimates (which they themselves admit are probably conservative) are around 14,000 dead and 36,000 injured.
If you subtract soldiers and look at the civilians being killed now in the near term, I would actually think it is significantly worse in Gaza for the civilians.
2. The Palestinian diaspora is much larger.
There are therefore significantly more people advocating for them and influencing. Palestine has received attention for so many years and they have long had support from non-Palestinians (the left). Russian influence can also certainly play a role. They seem to mostly be pro-Palestine, and some idiots have bought into the idea that Ukraine has brought it upon themselves.
The UN has not forgotten about Ukraine (completely), the Secretary-General condemned Russia’s attacks just a few days ago but not even that is visible in the media, so I mostly blame the media.
Not that reporting on Gaza, but the focus on Ukraine is significantly lower.
When it comes to Ukraine, on the other hand, there is a lot of coverage about Zelensky, Trump, etc.
Regardless, even if the media can’t juggle two balls in the air, I intend to continue doing so.
I keep a few other balls in the air as well, but it’s enough to write about those two, except in rare cases.
Speaking of other things going on, how has it been in Angola? Has it calmed down again or has the situation worsened?
Apparently, the police were damn quick on the ball and they also have a competent security police.
For example, they have no gangs in the country, as soon as one grows too big, they are eradicated by the police.
Angola only has one gang – The Police.
There are many differences, as MXT pointed out, but one important thing is.
The people of Gaza are basically defenseless, while Ukraine has the world’s best defense.
The Palestinians have managed to market themselves as victims since 1948, it is true that it is a pity for them, but not everything is Israel’s fault.
Netanyahu’s rhetoric does not directly help Israel, it no longer seems to be about Hamas and hostages, nowadays it is about bloodthirst, it seems like he has decided that the Palestinians should be removed from Gaza, alive or dead.
The way he is going about it, Hamas will win, Israel’s reputation will take several generations to rebuild, and they will no longer be able to play the “Holocaust card” because they are not much better, no gas chambers, but bombs that destroy house after house, and starvation as a weapon.

Always a bit sad when Swedish companies are bought up and end up abroad.
“The Swedish AI company Sana is being acquired by the American software giant Workday for 1.1 billion dollars. This is stated in a press release.
The price tag, which amounts to 10 billion Swedish kronor, is twice as high compared to what Sana was valued at in its latest funding round less than a year ago, writes the business newspaper.
Earlier this year, CEO Joel Hellermark said they were aiming for an IPO in the USA, but now he has instead said yes to the suitor Workday.”
https://omni.se/amerikansk-jatte-koper-sana-for-10-miljarder/a/73Wao3
Congratulations to Joel who can do whatever he wants from now on.
Yes, it’s true, congratulations to those who have built up the company and can now cash out!
Off-Topic, TikTok
Horowitz is not a direct Trump supporter (but not an opponent either) but the other two are Pro-Trump so I guess it will be one of them who gets their hands on TikTok in the USA. However, this is just speculation from the media (and now me) but I would be extremely surprised if it were an opponent of Trump who takes over.
“An agreement regarding TikTok is clear – the buyer will be announced shortly, according to Donald Trump as reported by Reuters.
Trump stated on Tuesday that the USA and China have reached an agreement that allows the video app in the USA by transferring American assets from the Chinese company Bytedance to an American owner.
The new deal will include new investors as well as existing investors in the parent company Bytedance, according to sources from CNBC.
As part of the deal, the American tech giant Oracle will maintain its cloud agreement with Bytedance, according to the same sources.
There has been speculation in the media that Andreessen Horowitz, Oracle, and Blackstone are interested in investing in TikTok.”
Maybe Trump will buy it?
Question two –
Why did Tough China agree to this?
Prestige loss and certainly also loss in business.
Maybe it depends on what is actually being sold. If China still has control over the technology and development so that it’s just a type of sales and marketing department that the Americans take over, maybe they still have so much control that they are satisfied anyway.
If Trump causes too much trouble, they make sure he loses the next election by tweaking the algorithms.. 😄
Sometimes one wonders if Trump is friends with both Putin and Xi despite trying to make it not seem so. Maybe it’s enough for China to promise to buy Trumpcoins for a few billion and he’ll be satisfied.
That last part is the dangerous one, is he with China too 😀
From what I’ve seen so far, everyone’s edges are directed towards Europe in one way or another even if they quarrel with each other.
What if they have already decided to divide the world among themselves?
I’m afraid that’s just the way it is. China gets Asia, the USA gets North and South America, and maybe England and Western Europe, Russia gets Eastern Europe and down towards Turkey. Then maybe India gets its region, and Africa is divided between the USA and China.
Trump knows that the USA is lagging behind in terms of production, so it’s just as well to cooperate.
And they are all dictators, and like mafia bosses, they need their spheres of interest.
From DI:
“The risk of being hit by drones increases the risk premium for transporting Russian oil. During the year, there have also been reports of ‘unexplained’ explosions on board ships carrying Russian oil. Shadow ships will demand more payment to expose themselves to these risks, some may even refrain entirely,” writes Henrik Wachtmeister.

Great job by Ukraine ✊✊
Good! 👍
Now we have to hope that we don’t get there, but if someone had asked you in 2024 if 50 drones in a full attack on Poland would trigger NATO Article 5, what would you have answered then?
Since some kind of consensus today is that it’s best for Europe to lie low and let Ukraine win the war.
Will it then be Article 5 if green men start appearing in the Baltics and their resistance movements of dissatisfied citizens become active?
We have just given Putin a gray zone where we will not invoke Article 5, and that’s all for under 50 drones into a NATO country.
Can’t be bothered to put together a list, but everyone understands that they can come up with quite a lot of mischief.
We can probably assume that there will be more to come, sending 50 drones to Poland and cutting 17 undersea cables in the Red Sea indicates there is more in the works.
I wonder what it sounds like in the back-channels right now?
I think Trump and Putin are trying to force Europe to make Ukraine stop bombing refineries at least.
If they had been filled with explosives, it would have been article 5. Now it’s not so much worse than when Russian aircraft violate our airspace. Maybe not considering it as article 5, but we should have done something more.
Now Poland wants to establish a “no-fly zone” over Ukraine, I think that would have been an appropriate response.
Or to threaten to shoot down anything closer than a mile or two from the border regardless of whether it comes over Belarus or Ukraine.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/09/15/poland-ukraine-russia-no-fly-zone/
Asking a friend, what happens if Russia drives in 50 drones into that “no-fly zone” and only four are shot down?
Or do you think they will try with 200 that do not have explosives this time so it won’t trigger Article 5?
They could just land two hundred at military bases, ships, airfields, and barracks just to mess around?
Land some right in the center of Warsaw?
Of course, Poland would immediately join Ukraine on its own initiative and say that everything west of the Dnieper is yours.
Then Ukraine would have started releasing reasonable AA protection against Poland for the huge prestige gain of getting an air defense zone over the country.
It wouldn’t have been worse than 4 shot down.
As long as they are not live and there are no serious injuries, I suspect that there will still not be any article 5 (unfortunately).
However, if they send 50 live rounds that detonate without major damage, perhaps the limit is reached, but exactly what is decided for them is difficult to know.
If they detonate in residential buildings, military facilities, etc. and there are casualties, it should trigger article 5 with full deployment. Otherwise, article 5 is completely worthless.
Then I haven’t received the answer to the question yet – the 50% that Poland shot down, were they the Gerandrons and then they released decoys?
Or were they all decoys.
The answer to that question is quite important, I think everyone understands that 😀
I haven’t heard anything about anyone being loaded. But it may be that Poland is keeping quiet about it in the hope that things will calm down so they won’t have to go to war with Russia.
Okay, so if Putin now knows how weak we are, if he knows that Trump does nothing but bring his troops home immediately when Putin calls and warns him, if he has all those gangs, all the equipment, manpads, etc. in tens of thousands scattered across Europe.
Why doesn’t he attack? He can bypass those troublesome Ukrainians, go through Belarus and Poland.
If he has all that Johan says he has, and Europe is as lost as they are, it might take a couple of months, Europe would be neutralized, and Putin would sit in a railway carriage in Paris signing a peace agreement where all European countries renounce their self-determination, and henceforth worship the great emperor in the east.
We can’t be that worthless, we must have something that Putin is afraid of, surely Russia is the master of hybrid warfare, but I hardly believe there is a dormant Russian terrorist in every village with a substation or power plant, or a stockpile of manpads near every airfield.
Starting a war with a successful Pearl Harbor.
Is not the same as winning a war.
But there is a lot of suffering along the way.
And many have tried.
JohanNo1: ”In 2024, we issued 400,000 Schengen visas to Russian citizens and everyone laughs at my ”gangs are a threat to the system” but they are mercenaries who can be hired – for the murders above, for example.”
Anders Jallai 2024:
”Today, [the illegalists] are also, as you will read [in Illegalisten by Anders Jallai, 2024], very active. The reason is the war in Ukraine but also Sweden’s imminent membership in NATO.”
Anders Jallai is an illegalist, I didn’t think that 😡
Otherwise, he just wants to sell books, tried to have a serious discussion with him about the submarine incidents in the 80s a few years ago but he chose the millions and the fame over the truth.
I know he is eaten up by that shame and that the celebrity parties, the expensive champagne and caviar don’t taste good at all and that he prefers to be perceived as honest.
Do you sound a little jealous? 😂
👍
At celebrity parties, millions, lots of books on the front shelf at the bookstore, financial independence, eating whatever you want and still not needing an iPhone 12.
Hahaha, never that’s nothing.
😶
What do you mean 12. Eleven!
Still have a four as well.
I pasted from the page below. I think he puts it in a good context:
Illegalist just one of several … | ANDERS JALLAI
Several of Jallai’s books touch on submarine violations, the murder of Olof Palme, and infiltrators in the Swedish security apparatus. I have read most of them with great interest.
I would never ever admit it but I have read them all 😐
I was sitting on the beach reading The Hidden Alliance by Mikael Holmström when a man I hadn’t met before walked by and started talking about Jallai’s books. He said he had played in the same band as Jallai. I bought Holmström’s book at the Army Museum among all places. I worked nearby and we used to have lunch there. From the book table, I also picked up Olof Frånstedt’s memoirs The Spy Hunter. Both books were referenced in Jallai’s books 🙂
All good books 👍👍👍
Was it Stig Bergling who passed by?
The Old Man?
The traitor, worse than Jallai.
Could have been Ray Liotta maybe?
I don’t know what’s worse though – the shame of not having achieved it or the shame of not devoting oneself to intellectual honesty.
I only have one and can’t compare.
😄
I believe that Ukraine now feels strong enough to dare to assert themselves – it is a sign of health.
Is it possible to hope that they will start sending drones and flamingos towards Russia’s capability buildup in the Baltic region soon, and then, when the chaos is at its peak, launch the Azov assault and the landing / liberation of Crimea?
You saw that Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine has 100 tank battalions.
Did we just confirm that they have a strategic offensive reserve as I write?
More importantly, why did he announce it now?
Probably to boost the morale of the cowards in Europe and to calm Trump down.
Azov strike 💥💥💥
Today Zapad 25 is over, right.
Now we can lean back again.
If the Russians are planning something, I think they are cunning enough to let all troops stay put and then, after a couple of days when everyone thinks the danger is over and everyone believes they have started moving the troops back home, that’s when they strike.
I’ll wait until there are reports confirming that they have actually packed up and gone home before I dismiss the threat.
Yes, my comment was of course rhetorical
Ah, I myself am fond of being ironic but assume that everyone else speaks plainly and says what they mean. 😂

B-2 ?
Hope that Trump has gotten a feeling and ordered the military facilities in Sevastopol to be destroyed.
Oops 😶
I’m starting to feel that Trump is completely uninteresting now – anyone else feeling the same?
He has no relevance anymore and is therefore obsolete.
The fact that he will try to grab the whole D is purely domestic politics in the USA and hardly interesting to us.
Depends on whether one hopes to avoid Trump’s irrational outbursts with brazen threats against other countries, tariffs whose end point is unknown, a NATO where it’s uncertain if the USA is a member or not, and last but not least, wants to see stable support for Ukraine.
If one ignores it, it doesn’t matter if the USA is turned into a dictatorship where Democrats and everyone else against Trump are banned.
Personally, I hope that the Republicans lose the midterm elections so that a more sensible government can be established and democracy can be saved, allowing the next real election to proceed somewhat fairly.
If he doesn’t become more popular?
Then the election campaign hasn’t started yet.
We’ll see when the next Approval Rating update is released. Maybe he has crept up a little percentage more? Usually released once a week, mostly on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Even though he has increased a few points lately, he is not in a good position. He is competing for the lowest grade with himself from the last time he was president.
But sure, he has become a bit more popular from a very low level.
Have been waiting for Fox News to come up with a new one, they are on his side but they are very slow and probably afraid of getting scolded, but even there, there are more people who dislike him than like him.
He is a great source of irritation, but I still think it’s quite interesting and scary to see how quickly a democracy can be dismantled when he who is at the top of the power pyramid has too much power.
At the same time, however, the USA is still such an important country that what he does and says affects us all. I believe Ukraine has managed to reduce its dependence on the USA, which is why Zelensky can express himself more directly, and they can bomb the refineries more freely.
But as long as Trump is in power, we will not see any strong actions against Russia from their side. And any involvement of American troops in the event of Article 5, I think we can probably forget, possibly we may have to buy weapons at inflated prices.
I have more or less stopped following Trump’s activities. I have never been a big consumer of these, but lately there has been even less of that. I don’t think Trump has ever had as much power as has been attributed to him, but he has exerted a great charm on all Europeans (and others) – an enchantment that is hopefully partially broken now. What I mean is that the power he has had is largely the one we have given him with our attention. At the top political level, it is probably as usual Zelensky who has shown leadership and first chosen to ignore him, then others dare to follow.
Zapad has no Western observers except for those two Americans.
But you know who has been there – half of the Western media.
They have now had a weekend where they stayed at a luxury hotel, eaten and drank well, and generally enjoyed themselves, soon they will start reporting on how impressive, modern, and invincible the Russian army is despite being too hungover to even have the energy to go and watch the exercises. The Russians have already provided them with photos so they don’t need to worry about that when they put together their reports.
Although a few serious journalists have probably also been on site.
Are you going to close a joint-stock company – hot tip go to one of the serious companies that buy it from you, do not try to liquidate it yourself 😭
Did you drown in paperwork? Or did it become a tax mess?
Closed an economic association with far too many sluggish members a few years ago. It’s fun when everyone has to sign and it takes several weeks before it’s done, and when it’s finally sent to the Companies Registration Office, they reject everything because the certificate from the tax authority stating that there were no tax debts had of course become more than 30 days old.
If you go to the Companies Registration Office with a problem, you have five more when the call is over.
Stupid as I was, I fell for the newspapers’ “unserious actors who do not liquidate your company but use it in crime – your life will be destroyed”.
And then I have greatly overestimated my own ability.
And how reasonable the Companies Registration Office should be, which they are not.
So I’m stuck in a money-draining loop where everyone contradicts everyone and I run around chasing tails.
Use Bolagspartner, based in Lund.
Incredibly smooth and sensible. Used them privately when me and a few others were closing down a number of jointly owned companies.

If this had been the USA during the era of the elder Bush, Russia would probably have been a smoldering ash heap by now.
I miss the old violent colonial USA that started wars at the drop of a hat just so their weapons industry and oil companies could enrich themselves.
Mm, at that time one could feel safe as long as one was on the USA’s side, now it’s a different story, and it was a cold shower for Europe.

And from the text: “… drama in the sky over Poland when a Russian drone swarm flew into the country’s airspace. The response was immediate. Fighter jets from the Netherlands and Poland quickly took off and shot down four of them. The rest crashed.”
He also refers to the drones as “Gerbera”. Not what I have learned they are called.

They probably crashed anyway when they ran out of fuel 370km into Poland.
He probably has the task of putting a positive spin on it, maybe there aren’t many independent intellectuals out there.
Took a look at the losses monthly and they are decreasing significantly for RU even in soldiers, they are now down to 30,000/month.
The number of attacks remains high and movements at the fronts as well.
I have greatly overestimated the Baltic people’s desire for fortifications 😶
