Ukraine has attacked a chemical plant in Russian Budennovsk.

The petrochemical factory “Stavrolen” in Budennovsk, which is a part of Lukoil, has been attacked by Ukraine. Stavrolen is one of the larger petrochemical companies in the Russian chemical industry and produces a variety of chemical products, some of which are also used in the military industry. Ukraine also attacked the facility on November 12.

Russian losses

High losses of soldiers and armor. Two aircraft are also included in the loss report. The war in Ukraine is costing Russia enormous amounts of both material and human lives. Strangely, the Russian population still seems to think it’s worth the price as they allow Putin to continue leading Russia into ruin.

  1. Off-Topic, Trump and Greenland

One would have hoped that he would let go of that thing with Greenland, maybe there is too much talk about Epstein even though the files have been released so he feels he must shift focus to something else, Venezuela doesn’t seem to have helped?

“The USA ‘needs Greenland for our national security.’ That’s what President Donald Trump says when asked about the new statements, reports Danish TV2.

    – We must have it, he says.

    – They have a very small population. Denmark has not spent any money. They have no military protection. They say that Denmark was there 300 years ago or something with a boat, when we were also there with boats – I’m sure of that.

His message is clear: We must find a solution.

It was yesterday that the USA’s newly appointed envoy for Greenland, Jeff Landry, said that the USA ‘wants to make Greenland a part of the USA.’ Neither Denmark nor the residents of Greenland want to belong to the USA. The statement prompted the EU’s Ursula von der Leyen and Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) to give their strong support to Denmark.”

    1. “The statement from the new US ambassador to Greenland, Jeff Landry, that he will work to make Greenland a part of the USA is a ‘stab in the back’ to Denmark. This is according to Jan Hallenberg, senior researcher at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, on SVT’s Aktuellt.

The statement has sparked strong criticism in Europe, and several countries as well as the EU have sided with Denmark. Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard, wrote earlier in the day in a comment to TT:

‘Sweden stands wholeheartedly behind our neighboring country in these matters.’

US President Donald Trump has on several occasions expressed his desire to make Greenland a part of the USA and said that it could happen through a purchase or, if necessary, through economic or military coercion. As recently as Tuesday night, Trump said during a press conference that ‘the USA needs Greenland.’

If the USA were to impose sanctions on Denmark, Hallenberg believes that the EU would respond with countermeasures and that Denmark, in an ‘extreme emergency situation,’ could also impose its own sanctions against the USA.

‘The possibility exists, and the EU will stand behind Denmark on that issue,’ he says.”

    2. Aproå Epstein, they claim that the extensive redaction was done to protect the victims. They don’t seem to have succeeded very well in that regard.

“The name of one of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s many victims has not been redacted in the files from the investigation released last week, writes CNN.

The woman both experienced and witnessed others being affected in 2009, after Jeffrey Epstein admitted to several cases of sexual offenses. Despite repeated attempts to contact the Department of Justice, which released the documents, her name remains in the files on Monday, according to CNN.

      – I have no words. It pains my heart. It haunts me, the woman tells the TV channel.

The documents released last week had extensive redactions, and critics have argued that the Department of Justice is trying to protect the powerful men involved in the investigation.”

      1. Ah, so that was part of the efforts to protect individuals so they wouldn’t be wrongly implicated when the White House released the photo of Clinton in the pool? Inter to try to get people to focus on someone other than Trump?

“Individuals who ‘innocently met’ the now deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein risk having their reputations destroyed by the release of the Epstein documents, says US President Donald Trump. As an example, Trump mentions individuals who may have just been at a party with him.

The statement is the first from the president since the documents began to be released on Friday.

        – There are pictures of me too. Everyone was friendly with this guy, says Trump to reporters at his home in Mar-a-Lago.

According to Trump, the release of the documents is about diverting attention from the ‘tremendous success’ that the Republican Party is having.”

“Former US President Bill Clinton has appeared in several photos in the Epstein documents. Now Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Ureña, demands that all documents related to Clinton be released immediately.

        In a statement, Ureña writes:

“What the Department of Justice has released so far, and the way it has been done, makes one thing clear: someone or something is being protected. We don’t know who, what, or why. But we do know this: we don’t need such protection.”

Ureña said on Friday that Clinton has not been accused of any crime related to his association with Jeffrey Epstein and that he cut ties before Epstein’s crimes became known, reports The Hill.”

  2. Fewer Russian and Ukrainian attacks. Mixed upwards and downwards among the front sections according to the AFU’s morning report. Pokrovsk remains under very strong pressure and Konstantinivka is increasing to strong pressure. In Kupyansk, a noticeable attack pressure from the Russians.

  3. It doesn’t look bright for Russia’s future when they are now forced to cut back on education. It is not clear why this is being done, but it would surprise me if it is for reasons other than purely economic.

But of course, it is logical, who needs a university education if they are only going to die on the front lines in Ukraine?

    Machine translated:
“The Russian authorities are cutting back on places at universities and have already revoked Shaninka’s license.

Around 45,000 fee-paying places are planned to be cut at Russian higher education institutions during 2027-2028, said the Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov in an interview with the state channel Rossiya 24.

“This represents about 13% of all fee-paying places. The largest decrease in fee-paying places will of course occur in the private sector – at private universities – where it represents almost 20%,” Falkov claimed.

The cuts will affect 40 programs, including economics, management, public administration, PR, and law.

Against this background, Rosobrnadzor has already revoked Shaninka’s (Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences). The suspension was published in a special register on the authority’s website.

In practice, this means that the university will no longer be able to teach students, reports Kommersant. They must be transferred to other institutions for programs in similar study areas, while maintaining all educational conditions.”

  4. “Russian isolation growing: Azerbaijan ditches CIS leaders summit. The Kremlin expected him to attend yesterday, but apparently learned through the news he would skip due to his “busy schedule”.

Embarrassed, Peskov meekly said “we understand”, made an excuse, and left the room.

Remember in October, Aliyev and Putin met and Putin promised to punish those responsible for shooting down an Azerbaijani airliner over Grozny last year, and to pay compensation to the victims. Neither of those things have happened, and Aliyev has been reminded of how much Putin’s word is worth.”

  5. South Korea will probably be able to significantly increase its sales when the USA is no longer our friend.
Suspected to be similar to HIMARS, wondering if the ammunition has approximately the same capacity as GMLRS.
Maybe Europe should buy these for Ukraine instead of buying from the USA?

“❗️🇪🇪Estonia has ordered six 🇰🇷South Korean K239 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) along with rockets for them.”

    1. I assume it takes a while to replace the Americans’ weapons production capacity. Get a bittersweet taste in my mouth every time someone chips in on PURL. Hoping for an update to PURL2 that only buys non-US.

Estonia is on the right track, I hope.

      1. “Sweet-sour taste in the mouth” was a good description, feel the same. Good that equipment is being sent to Ukraine, but a shame that it’s coming from the USA, when they themselves are not contributing more than a drop in the ocean.

  6. Darth Putin:
“Venezuela should stop provoking a nuclear power, pledge neutrality and choose a leader America approves of. Apparently that’s how this works.”

  8. Off-Topic, Epstein

Wondering if the person who posted it got fired?
Waiting for someone to leak everything, completely uncensored, at the same time it would be wrong considering the victims.

“A new major release of documents from the investigation into the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been made – and it contains many references to US President Donald Trump, reports the Washington Post.

But just hours after it was made public, it was taken down from the Department of Justice’s website again, writes the newspaper that downloaded all the files while they were up.

The documents included notes from a New York-based prosecutor on how many times Trump flew on Epstein’s private plane. It also describes a flight that only Trump, Epstein, and a 20-year-old woman allegedly took.

The White House has not provided any explanation for why the documents were removed.

It has long been known that Trump had a friendship with Epstein, but that it ended in the early 2000s.”

  9. Long live Carl-Gustaf!

“Saab has received orders for the disposable weapon AT4 and ammunition for the grenade launcher Carl-Gustaf from Lithuania, according to a press release.

The total order value amounts to 1.3 billion Swedish kronor.

    – We look forward to continuing to strengthen the Lithuanian defense forces with our efficient and well-proven disposable weapon AT4, says Saab’s Head of Business Area Görgen Johansson.

    Deliveries are planned for 2027–2029.”

  10. Off-Topic, nuclear power

There you go, a step forward!
Then I would like to see how much of the state support is, preferably it should only be needed in the form of ancillary costs that may be required in connection with new establishment (i.e. infrastructure).

“The government has received the first application for state aid to build new nuclear power in Sweden, according to a press release.

It is Videberg Kraft AB that has applied for support to build new reactors on the Värö Peninsula at Ringhals. Videberg Kraft AB is owned by a group of companies and the state energy group Vattenfall.

    – The fact that we have received a first application confirms that Swedish industrial companies want to be involved in building nuclear power. This is a crucial step towards getting new reactors in place and we are ready to receive more applications in the future, says Minister for Financial Markets Niklas Wykman (M).”

  11. ⚡️ Hela oblast i Ukraina ‘nästan helt utan ström’ efter massiv rysk missil- och drönarattack. Åtminstone tre personer har dödats och 12 andra skadats.

    1. A bit disappointed that they don’t reach the Russian numbers, 100% shot down. The advantage seems to be that only 8 of the shot down ended up as scrap on the target, where the Russians seem worse with 100% of the shot down ending up on the target 🙂

  12. 👀 The most effective protection against fiber-optic FPV drones, according to the military, is still the combination of the Safari shotgun and Ptashka netgun. Ptashka netgun: 4×4 meter net flies up to 30 m. The effective range of the shot is 20-25 m.

    1. Both the release itself and the communication around it are deplorable.

Trump is doing his best again to shift the focus to Clinton, now with a new statement.

“US President Donald Trump thinks it’s sad to see the pictures of Bill Clinton released in the Epstein documents, according to Sky News. This is because they have ”always gotten along” and been kind to each other.

The former president appears in several pictures in the documents released about the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

      – Bill Clinton is a big boy. He can handle it, but it is likely that there are pictures that will reveal other individuals who innocently met Jeffrey Epstein several years ago, he says.

Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Urena, demands that all documents related to Clinton be made public because he has nothing to hide.”

  13. Hmmm, it’s significant that RU hasn’t attacked our power grid yet but I don’t know in what way.

Are they starting to worry about a response?

The drones were used to gather data for future navigation

but what is the hardest to deny?

    1. You’re hoping for those attacks so you can later claim that we had skyrocketing electricity prices this winter, right? 😄

If I were the Russians, I would wait until mid-January, when it’s normally the coldest.

On the other hand, they have been tough on Ukraine now for Christmas, so it’s also a good opportunity if you want to cause maximum disruption.

      Christmas Eve isn’t until tomorrow.

      1. Doesn’t the electricity price decrease if the network is inaccessible? Plenty of available electricity at the power plant but none at the consumer’s. The lowest price in history!

        1. There you have a point!
It might be the other way around (especially if no power is delivered at all).

Then of course, I can imagine that if you need to redirect the power over already heavily loaded lines, I guess that the grid owners will charge exorbitant prices for the little power that actually reaches, simply because there is a shortage of power there, even if there is a high production surplus.

  14. As I mentioned earlier, it is very difficult to take action according to international rules and international law. (Unless you are the USA of course).

“Swedish authorities did not have the legal right to take further action against the Russian ship Adler, which was anchored in Swedish waters over the weekend, despite the vessel being subject to sanctions. This is according to prosecutor Henrik Söderman at the National Unit against International Organized Crime, speaking to Expressen.

    – This is because this ship was moving in international waters, experienced an engine failure, and for that reason ended up briefly in Swedish waters, says Söderman.

If the cause had not been an engine failure, the situation would have been different, he explains.

According to Expressen, the Ministry of Defense had been informed that the ship could become a “major political headache” if Swedish authorities had intervened further.”
    https://omni.se/aklagare-hade-inte-ratt-att-ingripa-mot-ryska-fartyget/a/K83LoE

    1. The solution would be for us to declare war on Russia (we are de facto already at war on a hybrid level). Then there would also be no problem in imposing a blockade and stopping all ships, or simply sinking them.

However, that would of course lead to other problems, as we would probably see a larger wave of sabotage here in Sweden when dormant Russian agents, bought gang members, etc., are given free rein. Any Swedes (and Swedish companies) in Russia would also be in a really tough spot.

Completely unrealistic of course, unless Russia does something really stupid. Not even violations of our airspace are sufficient arguments, certainly not even if they happened to crash a drone within our borders.

    2. So, according to their own statement, that Russia is at war with the entire EU including Sweden, is not “a major political headache”?
Then the question arises of WHAT is sufficient to be classified as such….

      1. I think he is very disappointed in the USA. Especially how they are behaving towards Denmark/Greenland. It can be difficult to find the right words when your “best friend” has let you down.

  15. Trump loves himself and also loves to see his own name (he’s trying to rename most things to something with Trump). Now he plans to build battleships of “Trump class” in a size that hasn’t been used in many years. The ones the USA currently uses are about half the size.

“Trump’s new battleship plan could transform the US Navy – or sink it

President Donald Trump’s announcement of a new class of battleships bearing his name puts a fresh spotlight on a US naval shipbuilding program that has fallen short on delivering the new warships on time and on budget in recent years, something Trump himself pointed out in his speech from Mar-a-Lago on Monday.

A US Navy fact sheet released Monday says the Trump class will be “the most lethal warship to ever be built.”

With a length of up to 880 feet and a displacement of 30,000 to 40,000 tons, they’ll also be the biggest surface combatants the US Navy has constructed since World War II.

A Trump-class ship would have a price tag as high as $15 billion, according to a Monday report from USNI News.”

    https://edition.cnn.com/2025/12/23/us/trump-new-battleships-analysis-intl-hnk-ml

    1. Shortly after I posted the above, I saw this on Omni:

“The fact that Donald Trump constantly finds new things to name after himself is a sign that he believes he has the right to do whatever he wants, writes CNN’s Stephen Collinson in an analysis.

“It is not normal for presidents to name things after themselves. They usually have the humility to wait for history’s judgment and for a grateful nation to honor them for their efforts,” he writes.

It was during the night towards Tuesday that Donald Trump announced that the new battleship of the USA will bear his name. Earlier this week, “Trump” was added first in the name of the “John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.”

It is also clear that parents can open “Trump accounts” for their children starting next year, that subsidized medicines will be sold under Trump’s name, and that the USA’s 250th anniversary will be celebrated with new coins featuring Trump’s face.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that Donald Trump and his most devoted supporters see the presidency as a golden opportunity for branding,” writes Karen Tumulty in the Washington Post.”
      https://omni.se/analyser-inte-normalt-att-presidenter-doper-saker-efter-sig-sjalva/a/aJwv1O

      1. One should probably have a good product for brand building to work optimally, but since the product is Trump (and family), it’s a bit doubtful.
That man just gets “crazier” every day with his inventions.

    2. Did you buy the Victory perfume?

Isn’t battleship a natural extension really?

      I guess it’s corruption?

Bribes so that HUGE orders will be placed on something that is obsolete.

    1. Does this mean that fighter jets traveling at supersonic speed (5G?) can shoot down Kinzal missiles? Wasn’t it Patriot or some other ADS that could already do that? In other words, were the Kinzal missiles targeting areas without Patriot defense?

  17. johanno.1337

Do we make sure to fill in the gaps of US dependency in Europe now? SAMP/T NG can’t be rolled out fast enough, and the British have some laser air defense. Otherwise, one must surely have quantities of close-range protection against drones among the troops, like glorified shotguns and such. Denmark’s continued purchase of F35 made me thoughtful, but maybe they thought they had made a deal, or had unacceptable consequences in the near future if they did something else? Will we get our logistical capability in order so we can move people and materiel as we want? Anything else?

In addition, a bunch of soft dependencies where you need to identify which ones constitute troublesome pressure points.
