Ryazan Oil Refinery Attacked for the Seventh Time
According to reports from local residents, Ukraine has once again attacked the Ryazan oil refinery, and an official statement from the claimed governor can be considered a confirmation: “Last night, air defense and electronic warfare drones destroyed over the Ryazan oblast territory. Due to falling debris, a fire broke out on the company’s premises.” The refinery is one of Russia’s largest with a capacity of up to 17 MT/year and is located approximately 480 km from Ukraine.
Therefore, it is one of Russia’s largest refineries, which is why Ukraine has attacked again.
Since a crushed Russian economy can be the path to victory in the war in Ukraine, it is satisfying that Ukraine can continue to attack refineries.

Several Transformer Stations Hit
Reports indicate that transformer stations have been hit in the Kursk region, Glushkovsky, Rylsky, and Korenovsky districts, causing power outages in some areas. This naturally burdens the Russian economy as repairs are needed, but it may primarily serve as a propaganda weapon. Hopefully, the Russians may eventually find that the cost of continuing the war in Ukraine has become too high when they are actually affected themselves, and the war is not just something that happens elsewhere.
Russian Losses in the War in Ukraine
- 890 KWIA
- 1 Tank
- 2 AFVs
- 19 Artillery systems
- 384 UAVs
- 41 Cruise missiles
- 68 Vehicles & Fuel tanks
- 1 Special equipment

With the number of UAVs together with a high number of cruise missiles, one can sense that it has been a tough night in Ukraine, but as of writing this, I have not yet seen any reports.
Russian Activities at the Front in Ukraine
- 200 battles
- 57 air strikes incl. 52 drones
- 124 KAB
- 4,442 artillery attacks (218 from MLRS)
- 3,885 suicide drones

The information about the peace plan developed by the USA and Russia is met with surprise by many observers in the West.
“The plan amounts to a complete Ukrainian capitulation,” writes the think tank ISW in its update on Thursday.
According to consistent reports to media outlets such as the Financial Times and Axios, the plan entails Ukraine handing over control of the entire Donbas region and halving the size of its own defense. This would undermine Ukraine’s defense capabilities and pave the way for increased Russian aggression, according to ISW.
“It seems to be without receiving anything in return.”
Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul writes on X that he hopes the information is incorrect.
“What is emerging here is a really bad deal for Ukraine, Europe, and the national interests of the USA. Frankly, I am shocked.”
We are all probably shocked by what has come to light, but we can only hope that at least something good for Ukraine will come out of it.
And Ukraine has the final say, if only Europe gathers itself and ensures that Ukraine gets what they need even if Trump sulks, then pressure on Russia can be maintained.
By the way, who was it that wrote several times a while ago that Trump had finally chosen a side in favor of Ukraine? 🤔
Who the hell was that 😡
In August, was it good?
UA released all barriers and Trump/USA was accommodating.

Trump finally signed off on releasing the Epstein material and it will now be published within 30 days. This is their last chance to remove all mentions of Trump and other Republicans.
Who on earth believes that the investigative material will be released in its original form when they have had 11 months to do so?
“The US Department of Justice will release the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes within 30 days. This was announced by Attorney General Pam Bondi at a press conference.
‘We will follow the law and encourage maximum transparency,’ she said according to Reuters.
Tens of thousands of documents from the investigation are already public, and no one really knows how many documents are still being kept secret. The forced release that Congress has voted for, however, leaves room for the Department of Justice to withhold information about victims and anything that could disrupt ongoing investigations.
Before Bondi’s department releases the investigation, Donald Trump must sign the proposal, something he has promised to do.”

I don’t think Trump is in the documents, otherwise the Biden administration would have already released them.
I believe and guess that both he and a number of Republicans and Democrats, and perhaps even other “sensitive” individuals, are involved and that’s why no one has wanted to release them earlier.
The Democrats’ eagerness to release them now may be because the Democrats involved no longer hold prominent positions and therefore do not risk harming the party. Or more conspiratorially, they cleaned out the documents when they had the chance but never got around to actually releasing them.
Regardless, I don’t think we can trust that what will be released now is complete records.
It may be that both Democrats and now Republicans are filtering the material so that what comes out will be diluted and not lead to anything new.
Or that it only contains clues that do not clearly point fingers in a way that establishes that they have actually committed any criminal acts.
It’s not impossible that the investigation was vague from the start to avoid causing a political scandal.
Of course, these are just loose speculations, but I don’t think anything specific will come out, if it does, it’s probably about entirely different individuals than politicians.
MXT has the right, the only thing that can come out now are masked documents that protect both D and R.
But Trump is now ultimately responsible for how the issue is handled today
Words from Budanov about Europe in a lengthy interview:
”All the empires that flourished always thought they were the strongest and most powerful. That’s how it seemed. And they all have one thing in common. They all ceased to exist in the face of the threat of barbarian invasions.”
”The clear position of the United States is that if you don’t want to defend yourselves, we won’t defend you at our expense. And has this position of the United States helped Europeans in some way? I think it is helping now. Well, at least the budgets have actually increased, and some more or less serial production has begun, because, well, you can produce the best tank in the world, but you only make 10 of them a year. Well, okay, it’s the best, but what next, so to speak.”

So right
Thank you for the transcription, a very good interview, Budanov knows what he’s talking about, and I agree with the USA regarding Europe’s own defense capability. However, I don’t understand Trump and his followers’ cozying up to Russia.
Regarding Europe’s dependence on the USA for defense after the Second World War, I also believe it was part of the USA’s plan, they had an interest in a stable Europe, and wanted control to avoid internal divisions. For example, France’s rearmament could have led to a renewed German rearmament if they hadn’t had the USA on their side. Now, over the past 10 years, interest in Europe has decreased, focus is shifting towards China, and Europe’s well-being and welfare no longer mean as much to the USA.
Budanov soon surpasses Zelenskyy (hopefully he doesn’t get fired just because of that 😄)
Now would be a good time for the coalition of the willing to show up.
After all, they are supposed to help Ukraine achieve a big win if you remember.
Now we are heading towards a Finnish deterrent victory, which is also designed to create divisions in UA.
How long can UA hold out?
It has been a good time for it for several years now. Let’s hope that those in charge also eventually realize it.
I am not hopeful at all and think those who have followed the war for a long time, including us here, are at best cautiously positive.
Europe needs to show its teeth no later than yesterday
I refuse to give up before the overweight lady has sung, but sure, unfortunately I don’t see any signs that Europe is about to do something radical and take a big step in the right direction.
People are ducking and letting the USA steer. Now they have said no in the past when Trump has had his plans for Ukraine to give up land. If what has now emerged is confirmed to be US’s plan, I hope they say no this time as well, and then maybe wake up and realize that they should forget about the USA and therefore must start taking action seriously.

Off-Topic, “AI Bubble”
NVIDIA, which provides the hardware (and also some software) used for AI, delivered a surprisingly good report, so there is definitely no crisis at the moment.
“Investors and analysts breathe a sigh of relief after chip giant Nvidia exceeded expectations in tonight’s quarterly report.
”A bull’s-eye from Nvidia. This allows investors to breathe a sigh of relief and feel that valuations may not be as exaggerated as they have been worried about,” writes Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA, to the Wall Street Journal.
David Trainer, CEO of the analysis firm New Constructs, is on the same track.
”This is the injection the stock market needed. The only warning I would give is that this good news is already more than priced in,” he writes.
Even Swedish analysts are relieved.
”Should provide a positive boost for the Stockholm Stock Exchange when it opens at 9 am tomorrow morning. A sigh of relief even from an optimist,” writes Robert Bergqvist from SEB on X.”
https://omni.se/experter-andas-ut-ar-den-injektionen-borsen-behovde/a/Ex4wPo
“After increased concerns about an AI bubble in the market, Nvidia’s report came in and proved the opposite. The quarter showed both higher revenue and profit than the sky-high estimates pointed towards, and the numbers are described as ”completely crazy” by Ekot’s economic commentator Knut Kainz Rognerud.
In addition to the retrospective key figures, DI’s Emanuel Sidea points to the chip giant’s forecasts, which also clearly exceeded consensus.
”It signals that the global investment wave in AI infrastructure continues at an unabated pace.”
And the guidance indicating near-insatiable demand for chips blows away any concerns and provides support to the broader market that a rally in the AI sector can continue, writes Aktiespararnas Jan Lindroth. He does mention that a blemish in the report is the sales of the superchip H20, something that was due to delayed deliveries and geopolitics.
IG Markets analyst Patrick Thomenius writes in a post on X that some investors point out that the gross margin decreased just over 1 percentage point on an annual basis.
”Bears always want to look for the smallest crack.””

Off-Topic, weather
I involuntarily follow the advice and stay at home working today.
When I was going home last night, the car refused to start so it’s still at work… Got a ride home and luckily for that because I had ordered grocery bags at the store that needed to be picked up on the way (thanks Jocke!).
“The traffic situation on E4 between Söderhamn and Gävle remains fragile after the snow chaos of the past day, according to the Swedish Transport Administration at a press conference. In some places, around 40 centimeters of snow has fallen.
– It has been troublesome and continues to be troublesome, says Karin Gustafsson, who is the head of maintenance in the central region.
Her message is that those who can should continue to stay at home. Even though traffic is flowing right now, there may be sudden stops.
– The major events should have been addressed, but there have been some bumps in the road and we have not been able to get the road in the condition we want, so there may be disruptions during the day, says colleague Karl Blad.
Snowplows and tracked vehicles are on site, but the situation is complicated by the fact that even the Swedish Transport Administration’s vehicles get stuck in the traffic jams.”

Weren’t you in the electricity area SE3 when we discussed the electricity prices?
Are you there arguing about electricity areas again?
I live in Gävle, which electricity area do you think Gävle belongs to?
SE -(minus)8 where you get paid 25 SEK for each kilowatt hour?? 😂
There is probably no area in Sweden that can get snow and winter as quickly and as much as the stretch you traveled yesterday MXT. I believe the phenomenon is called a snow cannon, but it is particularly intense along the Hälsingekusten coast. Otherwise, Gävle is a nice city. Fine maritime traditions, among other things.
Well, here it can really pour down when the conditions are right (or maybe rather when they are at their worst). Both snow chaos and floods (got 15 cm of water in the basement a few years ago).
Yes, it is an old port city. There are still some traces of it left with port warehouses, etc.
Then of course we have Gävle port which is active, but it is located outside the city and perhaps doesn’t have that much old-fashioned charm.
Sad that they had to part with the brig Gerda. Was there when the newly built replica was launched. It was a slow pleasure as they hadn’t properly greased the slipway, took several hours before she got into the sea.

205 missed that you had a comment that needs to be approved (due to exceeding the allowed number of external links, 11 is the limit). It has been approved now.
First, it almost sounded like they would send F-16s during early autumn (when 100 million USD was allocated in American congresses for pilot training), then it took forever before they actually arrived (and many doubted if they would even come).
They didn’t become the decisive “Wunderwaffe” that some seemed to hope for, so they haven’t made it possible for Ukraine to win the war, but they are useful!
“Ukraine’s F-16s have carried out more than 300 strikes on Russian ground targets, according to the Air Force. Since arriving in August 2024, they’ve been hitting Russians using precision GBU-39 SDBs and JDAM-ER kits and intercepted over 1,300 Russian missiles and drones since entering service.”

Soon home, not as much snow as at home at MXT in SE2.
Started the journey on the 18th around 16:00 😭
Quite disappointed but expected since all the energy supplements for the whole summer and spring died out.
For four years, everyone has just been waiting for ua to give up but they have the audacity to strike back.
UA even speaks to us about what will happen in the future if we do not make the right decisions 😭
