Unclear what the meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump actually achieved – High Russian losses

Zelenskyy and Trump met yesterday, but it remains to be seen if the meeting actually led to anything. Nothing concrete has emerged that seems likely to bring an end to the war in Ukraine in the near future.

The press conference held after the meeting did not provide much information. They claimed to agree on many things, such as the importance of security guarantees, etc. but nothing concrete. Donbas was also discussed, and it was said that it is a question that remains to be resolved. Trump emphasized that significant progress was made, and Zelenskyy also expressed positivity. It is harder to grasp what this progress actually consisted of. Of course, Trump took the opportunity to once again claim that the election he lost was rigged, that there would have been no war if he had been president, etc.

We were spared a repeat of the meeting when Trump and his staff embarrassed themselves by doing everything they could to humiliate Zelenskyy, so I would say that the meeting was at least positive as both parties seemed happy and positive this time.
Here you can find the press conference.

  1. The USA is sending communication equipment to Georgia. What is the likelihood that it will stay there and not end up in Russia? Previously, sanctions against Belarus were lifted regarding aircraft parts.

“U.S. will provide USD 10.4 million in communications equipment and other related goods as a grant to Georgia’s Ministry of Defense, according to a decree signed by GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on December 22.”

      1. It’s all Biden’s, Zelensky’s, and Europe’s fault! Putin and Trump are the only two peace-loving leaders who want to stop the war so we can all have peace!! 😂

    1. Yes, that is the quote that will be remembered. The most detached-from-reality person on the entire planet. Stop bombing, get out of there, that’s real “success”.

  2. The countries that are part of “the willing coalition” will meet in Paris at the beginning of January to discuss how each country can concretely help Ukraine. This is written by the French President Emmanuel Macron on X.

He writes that he and several other European leaders participated in a phone call with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky and the USA’s Donald Trump when the two presidents met in Florida on Sunday.

During the call, security guarantees for Ukraine in a possible peace agreement with Russia were discussed. After the meeting, Trump said that “great progress” had been made towards ending the war in Ukraine, without specifying what the progress entails.

  3. Russian attacks along the front according to the morning report from AFU⚔️🇺🇦.

  4. Putin will complicate things so it won’t happen.

Trump has completely lost it – he is a president for sale.

He also seems to be easily fooled?

Now it’s behind us anyway, there will be no ceasefire which was the important thing.

The MXT above will probably go down in history as “Putin just wants the best for Ukraine”.

Now let’s go and win the war.

  5. ZAPAD 25 was never something I was particularly worried about, but when it comes to China’s exercise, I believe the likelihood is somewhat higher that it will actually lead to open conflict.

Trump has shown that he is mostly interested in money and doesn’t care about what is right or wrong. He is not willing to go against slightly larger nations like Russia, therefore he also appears weak in that regard.

Furthermore, the USA has rather shifted its focus away from China and apparently sees Europe as the biggest threat. There is a small risk that Trump has made a deal with China regarding Taiwan. If China has promised advance deliveries of, for example, rare earth metals and that they do not intend to stop shipments of chips and electronics from Taiwan, etc., and on top of that promised heavy investments in Trump Coins, etc., it is not entirely unlikely that Trump has promised not to do anything.

Nevertheless, it would still be a catastrophe for the USA if it happened, the deliveries from Taiwan will be stopped. It is part of Taiwan’s defense strategy but the question is whether Trump understands that.

Normally, the USA tends to speak quite sharply, but we have hardly heard anything from the USA regarding this exercise, which can be seen as a pure provocation against both Taiwan and the USA.

Then again, Trump may not have made a deal with China either, they may well take advantage anyway if they assess that the USA will not act.

But, that being said, I believe the risk of invasion is low now. However, this could very well be a first step where China is now conducting longer port blockades, increasing economic pressure, engaging in hybrid warfare, etc., to test the limits.

All to see if the USA actually chooses to act. If it turns out that the USA does not act despite slowly increasing pressure, we may well see a full-scale invasion in a year or two (before Trump is replaced).

“The major military exercise that China has initiated around Taiwan is said to include simulated blockades of Taiwan’s most important ports, writes AFP.

The exercise involves live ammunition and includes destroyers, frigates, fighter jets, bombers, and drones. It takes place just a few weeks after the USA, Taiwan’s most important ally, approved a new arms deal for the self-governing territory.

Following the deal, China has also imposed sanctions on 20 American defense companies.”

    1. USA will get South America

Russia will get former Soviet countries including the Baltics

China will get Taiwan and some more.

Europe will be divided in a cold war.

that’s the plan it’s very clear now.

      only Europe can change this.
