We now have two stages to discuss – the war in Ukraine and the next Russian escalation, and absolutely not to overlook the Baltic states for Russia and China have the whole world to escalate in beyond Ukraine.
Those who have not understood that Russia and China have begun the journey towards full global conflict are lagging behind, and too many are now instead upset that our self-image is being challenged.
I find it quite difficult to understand where this self-image comes from because in 1939 we surrendered completely, and since then almost all wars have been the entire West against a poor little developing country where we had bases with everything extra in the fridge and a list of Close Air Support (CAS) and indirect capabilities to choose from, depending on whether we wanted to barbecue or blow up the opponent sitting in their tent.
The biggest wars were Korea and Vietnam, which the USA lost, the first because China was a belligerent party and the second because Russian subversive activities were too effective.
Since the 90s, we have disarmed so we have virtually no defense forces in Europe – in Sweden, we have 25,000 instead of the 800,000 total defense we had during the Cold War.
We have also scrapped most of our stockpiled equipment, I want the names of those who advocated for scrapping the Strv 121 😡
Then we negotiated away the weapons that turned out to be the best in the Ukraine war but only for ourselves – never for Russia. Now Swedish peace activists and others want “killer robots” (drones) to be banned, and we may have to pray that it doesn’t happen because China is far ahead in that regard.
Since we haven’t had much conscription to speak of, the latest batch of citizens who know how to most effectively kill Russian bastards with a knife are about my age.
What has not yet been tested is whether Europe’s soldiers are prepared to sit half-starved in a trench with too little ammunition and the last armor-piercing round – I don’t know, and neither does anyone else. Now, maybe that’s not the main point because they will have to do that, but whether they have a high combat value when they are there and can hit with the armor-piercing round under fire and against moving targets.
What I do know, however, is that many former elite soldiers – “three tours in Iraq,” old marines, and so on, in many cases left Ukraine because the war was too ruthless and a one-way ticket to disability or death, but then they had a choice to make which we will not have – the laws of war are compelling.
At least the Germans are honest.

If it becomes a global conflict, we can all forget about sitting with a mountain of equipment and fighting against a poorly equipped enemy.
Since Murphy’s law applies, and you have a company commander who was a municipal middle manager, it will be you who sits with two magazines of 5.56 and watches an attacking mechanized battalion, looking for at least one hand grenade.
In addition to our armaments industry still being a joke – Ukrainian Bohdana is being built 20 times faster than Archer, for example, stolen from the comments section on johanno1.se.
https://omni.se/ukraina-forlitar-sig-allt-mer-pa-eget-artilleri/a/nyz1zn
So there isn’t much psychological warfare to shape our future soldiers that it’s time to go to war. Russia has deeply indoctrinated its citizens, and it still works after three years of absolute chaos that not many defense forces would have accepted.
How will we solve this in Europe – voluntary recruitment or general mobilization?
Is it even being discussed?
By now, it should be tough to dress in green and the better your target practice, the more status you have at the bar when you show the target with all the holes. And if you’re in M90 pants in your Tinder profile picture, your phone never stops blinking.
In Israel, service in the paratroopers or better is worth more than a degree from Harvard when applying for a job after military service.
What does the employer say if you show up to a job interview in home guard attire and polished boots – and with a shaved head say that your hobby is going to the shooting range – will you get the job?
Since 2022, Ukraine has been our crash pad and asked for one thing – weapons to win the war.
Now they haven’t received it, and countless times they have been stopped when things were going too well, so now we have reached a very sad milestone, but Ukraine is the last to blame for this milestone.
Zelensky admits that Ukraine will accept a ceasefire.

Trump’s proposal is claimed to have leaked – a rumor at best, but it will still end up like this because there will be a ceasefire at the junction between the units at the fronts, and then everything will freeze – I’m not saying the proposal is accurate, but something similar will happen in the end.

Trump is now also putting enormous pressure on Ukraine, you can be sure of that – this one was from CNN, for example.
https://edition.cnn.com/2025/08/08/politics/pentagon-could-divert-weapons-for-ukraine-us-stockpiles
Is anyone hearing anything from Macron, Starmer, or Merz right now, Macron is in a war with his wife, but Merz promised less than a month ago that Germany would help Ukraine until they have regained their land, is that no longer valid?
Short half-life for political promises nowadays.
A little digression, but Trump and Putin will politically try to bring down Zelensky for this ceasefire, so the country will be plunged into chaos post-ceasefire, but that’s another discussion – those who have read the posts know exactly what will happen.
What is worrying about this ceasefire is – why now?
Putin has not yet achieved his objectives, Kostiantynivka will never be conquered as RU is still outside a well-prepared hedgehog defense.

However, I am of the opinion that Pokrovsk is a matter of time before UA retreats from it, but many are unhappy with that opinion.

Putin also has a large area west of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk to conquer and will surely need at least until next summer, provided Ukraine doesn’t make it easy for him.

To me, it looks like Putin and Trump have agreed on a ceasefire before Zapad 25 starts – it’s forced, and Putin is accommodating Trump.
Media and many others still report everything that happens as “now damn it,” “Trump is fooled,” “negotiations are progressing” –
Try for heaven’s sake to understand that everything is predetermined 😐
Trump does nothing without first checking with Putin – a bit like I’m now completely ecstatic that I’m sitting and talking to Johnny Lawrence and Larusso on X and that they like me and continue to discuss my ideas. It’s marketing, and I’m talking to a communication team (but I’m still as happy as a child).
So…
Putin has much more leverage, we know that, and he is advancing on all fronts – over time, UA will retreat to their defense line outside Donetsk Oblast that they have built because they are pragmatic and know that they will have Donetsk negotiated for them by Trump – believe me 😀
So why a ceasefire right now?
My best guess is that Putin will jump on the Baltics or escalate in Ukraine to cut the whole country off from Belarus and Transnistria. After that, violence against somewhere is next on the list.
China has also entered its period where the weather is favorable to go after Taiwan.
Due to Iran, Trump has unlocked a lot of USA’s capabilities in the MENA region, by the way 🧐
It would almost be a stroke of genius to now come out strongly with “peace in our time” in Ukraine while Russia and maybe China are preparing for the next big blow.
Russia’s threat to Europe is just a diversion, not for Russia but for China, so they will come up with some mischief too.
China is already in an economic war with the West and their economy is shaky.
Russia is in a war economy and it has an end date.
Both despots can choose to quietly sink with the ship and crash their countries, or go all in and hope to come out on top.
Our self-image in Europe will continue to be challenged in the coming months, I guess. First and foremost, we will soon realize that what the USA did was to economically trap us so we became dependent on them (again). The USA liked the Cold War.
Just look at how the USA used WW2 to economically weaken England and let the Soviet Union become a major threat to Europe. Those in the USA who advocated for a war against the Soviet Union were quickly silenced – Patton, for example.
Roosevelt sat at meetings between him, Stalin, and Churchill and openly mocked Churchill, agreeing with Stalin on everything.
The next blow is that we will not be able to manufacture what we need for defense because China effectively controls the components and raw materials we need – just holding back one ingredient would mean no propellants for the 155mm shells at all, right?
“we have all this within Europe, do not worry”.
Yes, we do BUT IT HAS A LEAD TIME BEFORE IT IS PROCESSED AND AT THE INDUSTRY because at various times we have shut down all mining and processing to save the environment after pressure from environmental movements.
Soon, a group will say – “it’s no use trying, we might as well give up”, you will start hearing from this gang very soon.
The others will swallow that they have fought against the wind for three years, pick up their AK4 and head to the nearest trench – you will all have my full support from the Caribbean ✊
Then there is a very big weapon to fire – the great shutdown of Europe, the power grid is more fragile than a mayfly, MP has ensured that, but we also have all the technology that has Chinese components or is Chinese-made integrated into our various systems.
Of course, the Chinese have kill switches or backdoors – anything else would be a dereliction of duty.
(are there more Chinese components in our old nuclear power or in solar and wind power?)
If we then start counting – say mid-September and a few weeks of full chaos before Europe begins to settle down and prepare to teach the Russian bastards a lesson.
We have our retaliation to be voted on parliamentarily and where not all countries will get the majority needed but probably enough to start targeting Russian goals – we have robots, aircraft, long-range indirect fire, and the navy.
However, we have not infiltrated for thirty years for sabotage like Israel did with Iran and we do not have a drone weapon worth mentioning.
Slovakia and Hungary will of course block everything in the EU.
Russia has coldly calculated on this and their doctrine is ALWAYS to escalate the level of violence until the opponent gives up.
What does Russia have to try to match our terrible doomsday retaliation with?
-A couple of hundred Gerandrones daily against targets in Europe that are now logged.
-2000 Russian robots in storage against high-value targets.
-The Russian Baltic Sea Fleet emptying its robot tubes before it sinks, maybe they won’t bother salvaging it anyway so I doubt this.
-A nuclear-armed submarine surfacing in the Stockholm strait and Putin declaring that the captain is drunk and has mutinied – the only way to get him to hand over the nuclear weapons is if Sweden immediately makes peace with Russia, and we have two hours.
-A couple of hundred ships from the shadow fleet forming a pearl necklace around the entire European coast – drone platforms or floating bombs?
-Thousands of FPV drones per day reaching 50km beyond the active front.
-Gangs and criminal clans carrying out acts of terror and sabotage for payment.
-Islamists carrying out spectacular acts of terror “for ISIS”, bombs against subways, shopping malls, and so on.
-Political parties and bought parliamentarians voting against necessary decisions as long as possible.
-Murders of key personnel, both political and military. A robbery gone wrong, home invasion, unexplained heart attack, and the whole dance where they even explained away a British spy found dead in a suitcase as suicide.
-Blown-up substations, toppled pylons for power lines, and constant power outages.
-Solar panels’ circuit boards inexplicably catching fire.
-Viruses and hacker attacks against BankID, Swish, banks, internet, and payment systems in stores.
Since Russia has already carried out HUNDREDS of sabotages in Europe in recent years, it is not far-fetched to guess that they have planned for all of the above – probably more.
Are we ready for this?
I can tell you that some countries in Europe will back down immediately – Spain is a good candidate, for example, to choose to continue with the siesta.
Some major leaders will fall politically because the subversive activities will aim for that. Kier Starmer has a short half-life, I’m pretty sure, he has been a weak leader in bad times and is even despised by his own party, which is a bit of a record even for a Brit.
There will immediately be a discussion whether it would not be worth sacrificing the Baltics and Ukraine for peace in our time because that is exactly what Putin will say – “we promise you eternal peace if we just get BACK the Baltics which are OURS really”.
All of the above will not happen overnight but gradually.
Imagine the feeling when governments realize that their civilian and military intelligence services have not been tracking Russian citizens since the early 90s to profile them or have had sabotage groups infiltrated in Russia – but instead stand there asking the government what to do.
Did you know that in 2024, the EU granted half a million Russian citizens from Russia a Schengen visa 😭
Or that each country’s Chief of Defense shrugs and says, “yes, we can maybe send a brigade but without air defense” when politicians, after a difficult vote, agree that the army should be put on a war footing to inflict “a stinging defeat on the Russian bastards that makes Svensksund appear as a great victory for them”.
Yes, I’m being a bit sarcastic beyond what is necessary but the fact that Europe hasn’t sent troops to the Baltics, despite the Baltics begging for it, has made me upset and somewhat worried about our leaders’ long-term planning here – there’s a risk that Baltics will be sacrificed for eternal peace.
Or of course, it won’t be like that, and we’ll be standing there saying – “The Suwalki Gap is closed and the Baltic Sea Fleet has opened the missile hatches, it’s impossible to send anything to the Baltics, sorry we really wanted to help you but we can’t – the losses among the reconnaissance platoon that was attacked in Suwalki have been absolutely horrific, indescribable scenes of lightly wounded soldiers driving back in their vehicles.”
Then Europe won’t be able to agree on retaking the Baltics, many leaders will say “yes, we are ready but everyone else must be on board,” Trump will say “you in Europe have to solve this, I warned you,” and so on, but the result will be that Baltics were de facto sacrificed on the altar of peace, again…
And after that, WW3 will start, right – now we’ve all lived through COVID but back then there were no power outages, rationing, mobilization, you had a child at the frontlines and all that. Restrictions on personal freedom were there for many but not in Sweden.
Jobs will be difficult, traveling will be difficult, and maybe you’ll have to spend a few years mobilized somewhere at a post in the Swedish countryside and be intellectually challenged.
In Ukraine, there are a few hundred thousand people at the frontlines out of 1.5 million in the armed forces, but the country’s 40 million citizens are all affected by the war in different ways – refugees, internally displaced persons, unemployed, lack of money, fear of bombings, stress over family members at the frontlines, and so on.
The same will apply to us – our everyday life will be interrupted, and then after 4-5 years when we’ve learned to live with it, everything suddenly ends when the news shows a Putin dangling by his feet at a gas station and someone sets fire to the deeply marinated despot.
Then everything will suddenly return to normal, a child who has fallen, another who has lost their legs, no job, and so on.
And we are the ones who have fared the best – countries that are overrun have torture centers in every little hole that, lacking victims, have resorted to stealing them from each other. Castration, rape, torture, starvation, amputations, murder of absolutely everyone down to five-year-old children.
Those who find themselves on the wrong side of an agreed line when it’s time for peace in our time will have another 70 years of this to look forward to, and if they try to flee to us in the West, we send them back on returning trains to not break the agreement – always follow an agreement.
But we have peace, and that’s the most important thing of all ✊
The world is never fair, but there’s a big difference between being restrained and just going along or being a coward. Ukraine doesn’t deserve the fate they’re about to face, and neither does the Baltics in the worst case scenario.
And the worst part is that it’s completely unnecessary.
1, 2, 3… so those who write that a ceasefire in Ukraine is a disaster will be called warmongers, and many you thought were sensible friends will say, “it’s probably for the best, war is terrible.”
In Germany, during the first quarter, (Russian) reconnaissance drones were observed 500 times. Are those just the ones that were detected, or what?
Any of you remember all the drones over Gotland and then when the armed forces had a very hastily arranged long exercise on Gotland that became permanent?
All signs are there that Russia is preparing for war – it could come now, in six months, or in a few years.
But taking a chance that it won’t come to the Baltics now is damn negligence and should be punishable by law 😡

ADS
As you have probably noticed, we now have ads on the site. The ads and their placement are managed by Google, which also tries to optimize it automatically. We will let it run for a few weeks to see where it ends up. Some placements feel quite large, but it might get better.
We will then post a survey to hear what you think, if there are too many ads, if there are certain placements that are particularly annoying, etc. so we can make any adjustments after that.

Russian losses in Ukraine 2025-08-11
SLAVA UKRAINI
I saw this headline about the poor defense willingness in Germany a week ago. It is proof that Germany has become multicultural without the German people having anything to say about it. The left-liberal media and party elites in the Western world have determined the direction. The same thing in Sweden. Large parts of the group of ethnic Swedes do not like multiculturalism and do not want to go to war for it. And do immigrants in Sweden want to defend the country? The willingness to defend seems to be a taboo area to research. It’s lucky that we in Europe have nuclear weapons as a deterrent resource. Actually.
And then we should have female officers, firefighters, and police chiefs. If they have it in the USA, we should have them in Sweden too. It’s mandatory. I saw a couple of female officer candidates in uniform outside the military academy in Karlberg yesterday afternoon. A five-year-old child can see that men and women are different. Should women carry the KSP with accompanying ammunition boxes in the armored infantry group? Or will it be easier leading/surveillance tasks only? Have a good workweek!
I assume that the position is based on the person’s abilities regardless of whether they are male or female. If the person draws a one in the isokai at the selection, they will not get a position with KSP, whether their name is Lars Larsson or Johanna Johansson. I don’t think there are different criteria for men and women.
The most important thing is that the employees of the Armed Forces have the will to defend Sweden, that is more important than their gender and skin color.
We have seen how male officers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces bowed down at the start of the invasion and also women who have fought like heroes.
You mean that it is the permanent employees within the defense who should carry the load, not the conscripted conscripts. Is that what you think? A small permanent elite force doesn’t get you far. That’s where we are now. Then there are anecdotes since ancient times about female Amazons fighting like heroes and that even men can be weak. That says nothing.
I might have been a bit unclear, my views also apply to conscripts.
The most important thing is that they don’t give up. Far from everything in the military is about muscle mass.
Women are a resource as valuable as men, as long as it’s not something that requires a lot of muscles. It can even be an advantage to have women in leadership positions, as they are not as affected by the testosterone levels in the room, and do not easily succumb to territorial behavior and “strong man” influence when decisions need to be made.
In battle, women fight just as well as men as long as they have access to equipment. There is nothing as targeted and fierce as a mother cat defending her young.
There are many examples of skilled female leaders, Kaija Kallas, Mette Fredrikssen, etc.
I don’t understand why people who are against diversity would want to defend their country, it’s not diversity they are fighting for, but their country. If they admire the diversity-hating Russians, they can just move there, they are surely welcome. Now, I can agree that maybe diversity has been a bit too much in focus lately, and it always creates a backlash, but if people could just look past color, gender, sexual orientation, etc., and focus on competence, there wouldn’t be any problem.
I think many immigrants are ready to fight for the country they have moved to, as they have often come from a war-torn country and surely want to fight for the security they have found. Of course, there are many opportunists who just flee to the next country when things get tough, and then there are those professional criminals who show up for mischief for the highest bidder, they are the dangerous ones.
Women can kill Russian bastards just as well as men 👍
THE SURVEY
When it comes to the survey about what Trump would do when the deadline passed last Friday, it turned out that 87% were correct. There are usually more participants in the surveys (about twice as many), but it didn’t last as many days this time so not everyone had time to participate.
Trump justified the nickname TACO and did nothing against Russia this time either. No sanctions, no tariffs.
Well, he did go after India, although it is questionable whether it is actually related to Russia’s war against Ukraine or if he just took advantage of the situation. As India itself commented, why are they being charged tariffs for trading with Russia when everyone else does it?
Regardless, the results show that together we have a pretty good handle on things, although it might not have been that difficult this time. We have already seen the same scenario play out before.
It seems like we are back to where we were a few months ago, where negotiations for peace are to take place and where neither party will probably want to agree to the conditions. Meanwhile, Russia continues to bomb and drone the civilian population of Ukraine.
ADVERTISEMENTS
Google has now completed the optimization of the ads. Can’t say that I think it has become significantly better. Now there are some things you can do to adjust, for example, block certain ad placements.
Another option, of course, is to remove them completely.
I will come back later after I have gone through which different ad placements can be influenced and then post a survey where you can give your opinion on which ones you think are the worst so maybe we can try to adjust a little and see if we can make it a little less annoying.
One, I’m not bothered by them. Been through worse. Two, on Johan’s blog walls, the ads work as paragraph dividers. Can one extrapolate on / take full advantage of this? Received feedback from someone who often translates and posts long threads on X that Johan would benefit from a bit of paragraphing…
One can choose to let Google place the ads automatically (although one can influence it in a more general way) but it’s not possible to, for example, tell it how to divide the paragraphs in a specific way.
The other option is to do everything manually and insert code in the places where you want the ads to appear. Some places you can do it once, for example, for the ads on the right and left.
But in posts, one would need to do it at every paragraph break.
That would mean that Johan would have to go over to the source code view, paste a number of lines of code for each place where the ads should appear.
I don’t think we can get him to do that, especially if he can’t even get good paragraph breaks now.. 😀
I wouldn’t have the energy to do it either. It would be one thing if you were building a regular site with a number of static pages, then you have some work to do but then it’s done. Needing to tinker with it every day when posting becomes a bit too much.
We’ll have to rely on Google to get it right! 😀
Yes, it probably takes a Google backed by a number of server halls with electricity consumption like a small city to find the right..
What do they charge per hour for working in source code mode?
Those who have preferences on formatting and other graphical improvements that enhance the page – when they have donated a round sum to the page’s Swish code, they can come back with what they want improved.
Alternatively, they are welcome to receive text from me which they turn into a beautiful bible.
I am not bothered by the ads either, but if I were to come as a new reader to a blog where you are greeted by ads everywhere, that need to be clicked away like a warez site from 2001, I would probably leave before reaching the yellow wall.
Are the advertisers satisfied then? Isn’t it required that the readers click and engage with the ads in that way for the former to be satisfied!?
There is no direct contact with the advertisers (and the ads are basically individually tailored, I don’t see the same ads as you, for example).
Advertisers don’t pay anything for views, only for clicks on the ads.
Of course, they are happy the more clicks they get, but since it doesn’t cost them anything if no one clicks, there are no complaints. One trusts that whoever is supposed to receive the ad revenue does their best to optimize.
As an advertiser, you set a daily budget. Then, you don’t care much about which sites that budget is spent on. If the budget is not used up, then you have to increase the bid for how much you are willing to pay per click.
Additionally, they also normally don’t know which sites their ads are displayed on. However, as an ad buyer, you can control some parameters if there are certain types of sites you don’t want to appear on. It’s also possible to block individual sites.
In the same way, we can make some choices here, for example, not to advertise for things that are (or can be) illegal within the EU.
Of course, you can also contact companies directly and offer them to advertise, but that is not so common today. Most have agencies that in turn use ad networks like Google Ads and rarely handle individual sites.
It is a fragmented image of Russia. On one hand, Russian military bloggers say that the logistics have collapsed behind the front lines. That this is the reason why Russia needs a ceasefire, preferably with territory they could not have taken without another million soldiers knocked out and at least a few years.
On the other hand, Russia has plenty of reserve capacity, can increase if they want to, can either launch an offensive from Belarus to take Kiev or invade to challenge NATO and take the Baltics.
If Johan No.1’s analysis is correct, Trump will not be so difficult to persuade if he also aims for a cold war to weaken Europe.
At the same time, dividing the world between the USA, Russia, and China would contradict the reasoning put forward by others, that Trump is ignoring the war in Ukraine because he is focusing on the bigger enemy, China.
Depending on the outcome of the meeting, it could have significant consequences for Ukraine and Europe.
“Vladimir Putin sees this week’s summit with Donald Trump in Alaska as an opportunity to drive a wedge between the USA and Europe. This is stated by the American think tank ISW in its analysis on Monday.
ISW quotes the Russian analyst Sergei Markov as saying that Putin’s main goal is to portray Ukraine and Europe as the biggest obstacles to peace in Ukraine.
In the long run, Putin hopes to divide the world into three spheres of interest between himself, Donald Trump, and China’s Xi Jinping, says the independent Russian analyst Andrei Kolesnikov to the Financial Times. He draws parallels to the Yalta Conference in 1945 when the USA, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union discussed how Europe would be governed after World War II.
“A new Yalta and a cold war are exactly what Putin wants,” says Kolesnikov.”
Is that correct?
Was that a rhetorical question that got a little wrong in the sentence structure?
I thought you were up for a cold war? Have I completely misunderstood your yellow walls? 😂
You used the word “correct” in a way that suggested I hadn’t written an absolute truth already.
I will raise an eyebrow or two if Putin participates physically.
So Trump and Putler have a common agenda, to divide the EU, and recreate the happy 50s, and Xi takes care of Asia.
And we in Europe, who want peace, freedom, welfare, and freedom of movement are the enemy. Instead, Eastern Europe would be forced back to oppression, denunciation, poverty, and insecurity, plundered by Russian oligarchs. And the Western part is dominated by a USA that decides what we can manufacture and to whom we can sell.
And what do they think they would gain by waging a new cold war. It’s not like the war has been a gold mine for Russia.
I don’t know what to say, but I think we have ended up in a parallel universe. I saw a story that when they discovered the Higgs particle at CERN in 2012, our existence shifted to a parallel chaotic universe. Almost like I believe it’s true.
Israel – Palestine
Maybe it’s time to stop dismissing all criticism directed at Israel by labeling it as the “racist left”?
“The criticism of Israel is growing significantly among voters on the right side of Swedish politics, according to a new opinion poll conducted by Demoskop on behalf of Svenska Dagbladet.
– A year ago, more Moderate Party voters were positive than negative towards Israel’s actions, but that’s definitely not the case now, says Johan Martinsson, head of opinion research at Demoskop.
The change is noticeable among Moderates, Christian Democrats, and especially Liberals, where Martinsson describes “a very strong reaction.” Support for Israel’s actions among Liberal Party voters has dropped by around 50 percentage points since the outbreak of war in 2023.
The greatest support for Netanyahu’s government is found among Christian Democrats and Sweden Democrats.”
https://omni.se/hogervaljares-israelkritik-vaxer-stark-reaktion/a/Jb0vKR
“I have no choice!” says Netanyahu regarding launching a new major offensive.
“The planned new offensive in Gaza will be even more extensive than the previously announced occupation of Gaza City, reports Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to AP.
– Israel has no choice but to complete the mission and completely defeat Hamas, he said on Sunday.
The Security Cabinet is said to have decided on comprehensive measures also against the “central camps” of the strip and against the southern Muwasi, according to reports to the news agency.”
https://omni.se/netanyahu-utvidgar-nya-offensiven-inget-val/a/QML9GP
Of course, he had no choice if he wanted to stay in power (because that’s obviously the most important thing).
When he tried to back down, he faced opposition from the ultranationalists.
“Israel’s ultranationalist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich says he has lost faith in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Israeli media.
He says that in recent weeks, he has been working on a plan that would lead to a quick military victory in Gaza, but Netanyahu suddenly backed away from the proposal, which is not further detailed.”
https://omni.se/israelisk-hogerminister-netanyahu-kan-inte-vinna/a/mPJLJE
Most others in Israel also seem to think it’s a terrible idea, here’s one of his security advisors:
“Benjamin Netanyahu’s security advisor Tzachi Hanegbi tried to stop the plan for an occupation of Gaza City before it was voted on, reports the Times of Israel.
– Taking control of Gaza City will put the lives of hostages in danger – that’s why I oppose the Prime Minister’s proposal, Hanegbi is said to have stated shortly before the vote.”
https://omni.se/netanyahus-sakerhetsradgivare-forsokte-stoppa-gazaplan/a/OoMjyE
The general public is also dissatisfied.
“Tens of thousands of Israelis protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday, the day after the Security Cabinet approved an occupation of Gaza City, reports AFP.
Demonstrators held up signs with pictures of the hostages still in Gaza. Shahar Mor Zahiro, a relative of one of the hostages who was killed, had a message for Netanyahu:
– If you invade parts of Gaza and hostages are killed, we will hunt you in the squares, in the election campaigns, everywhere and all the time, says Shahar Mor Zahiro, a relative of a hostage who was killed.”
https://omni.se/tiotusentals-israeler-i-demonstration-mot-gazaplan/a/zAm4vw
The newspapers are critical.
“The editorial pages of several of Israel’s largest and most influential newspapers are harshly criticizing Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan for a new offensive in Gaza.
“An expanded military operation that could last for months is a death sentence for the hostages who are already in poor health,” writes the Jerusalem Post’s editorial page, which has previously been a strong advocate for military interventions in Gaza.”

Most people around the world are negatively inclined, except for the USA of course.
“Israel’s plans to occupy Gaza City were heavily criticized when the UN Security Council met on Sunday evening, reports the BBC.
Britain, France, Denmark, Greece, and Slovakia warned that the plan could violate international humanitarian law and endanger the lives of the hostages. China and Russia also strongly criticized the plan, as did the UN’s Deputy Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca.
The US ambassador, however, defended Israel’s plans, saying that the accusations of genocide by Israel are false and that Hamas could end the war by releasing the hostages.”

Russia continued to develop intermediate-range nuclear missile robots during the years it committed not to deploy them. This is stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Reuters reports.
According to him, Russia interpreted the agreement as only applying to the deployment of weapons, not to their development and production.
“So we used the time to develop suitable weapon systems and build up a fairly sizable arsenal of them,” Ryabkov said in an interview with Russian state TV.
They chose the timing of the acknowledgment carefully.
Then it is probably largely a lie, as usual.
Great care.

Weather
So it was time again for heat warnings down in Europe.
30 degrees in the sea otherwise sounds quite nice, I who become a bit more of a wimp for swimming every year.
We must also add that to the temporarily positive effects of increased CO2 levels…
Today, the oceans absorb about 25% of the CO2 in the atmosphere and still function as a massive CO2 trap. Unfortunately, the absorption capacity decreases with rising temperatures and increasing CO2 levels, and already a decrease in absorption has been observed. The same goes for plants, by the way. When reaching around 800 ppm, neither the oceans nor the plants want to absorb any excess anymore. It will probably take about 150 years at the current rate before we get there. Then it’s goodnight for most of humanity and wildlife.
“France has been hit by a heatwave expected to last the whole week. The national weather authority Meteo-France has issued a red warning in twelve departments in southwestern and southern France.
The authority has only issued a red heat warning on eight occasions since it was introduced in 2004.
On Monday, 43 degrees were recorded in Charente and Aude. In Aude, a large forest fire has been raging since last week.
According to Le Figaro, forecasts show that the surface temperature in the Mediterranean could reach almost 30 degrees in several places, including along the Riviera and Corsica, towards the end of the week.”

The captain and two crew members of the Eagle S are charged in Finland following the cable breakages in the Baltic Sea, several news agencies report.
It was at the end of last year when, among other things, Estlink 2 and several data cables were damaged in a suspected sabotage of the oil tanker Eagle S. The vessel was seized by the Finnish police and was allowed to continue its journey only in March.
Finnish authorities suspect that the vessel is part of the so-called Russian shadow fleet, which has been established with more or less shady methods to circumvent Western sanctions, writes TT.

What were the nationalities of these? Chinese if I remember correctly? I guess that if they are convicted, China will bother by stopping some export of some mineral to Finland.
The captain is from Georgia and the ship is registered in the UAE.
But there have also been Chinese ships that have cut cables.
Low risk of consequences against Finland in the event of a court ruling.

China
“The sluggish Chinese economy and labor market are causing more and more Chinese youth to pay companies to let them pretend to work there. This is reported by the BBC.
30-year-old Shui Zhou pays the equivalent of 40 SEK per day to go to the office and pretend to work at the company Pretend To Work Company in the city of Dongguan. There, he has five “colleagues” who do the same.
“I am very happy. It’s like we are working together as a group,” says Zhou.

Which VDV would be good to know – there are a couple of brigades there and a few more at the southern front.
Whether they have moved from the northern front or not is what would be interesting to know.
The fact that they are very active at the Dnieper and reinforcing at the southern front signals that the ceasefire is only temporary at best 😀
Exciting that the first experts are starting to consider the Baltic states now 👍
This will end with a ceasefire and both Putin and Zelensky signing within five weeks.
It gives Putin freedom of movement, he can break the ceasefire whenever he wants and Ukraine cannot because Trump will be watching every move like a hawk.
Putin already has a grip on driving over the Baltic states and he has Zapad 25 to build up in Belarus.
Then of course part of the plan is for Europe to believe that there will be peace now and will lower their guard.
A diabolical plan to say the least that Trump and Putin have cooked up.
The first will be gone for a few weeks, the second for about a month, the third I think will be away for even longer as it will probably need to be replaced with a completely new one.
Then there is a small downside if the downtime leads them to export more crude oil instead (since they have to get rid of it), but the question is whether they will actually find buyers.
“🔥 Ukraine’s Strikes Halt Rosneft’s Largest Refinery for a Month. Rosneft’s oil refineries hit by Ukrainian drones will remain offline for weeks, sources told Reuters. Rosneft faces a surplus of crude oil and will boost exports through western ports from 1.77 million to 2 million barrels per day.
Repairs at the Ryazan refinery — the company’s largest, with an annual capacity of 13.7 million tons and a key supplier to the Moscow region — will take about a month after two of its three processing units were damaged, cutting output roughly in half.
The Novokuybyshevsk refinery, the most advanced in Rosneft’s Samara group (capacity 8.3 million tons), shut down its main atmospheric column AVT-11 entirely.

What a chaotic weekend 😶
I believe it was around here that those who argued against me in January thought Europe would step in and put their foot down?
Since that was their analysis of the situation and I should stop painting the devil on the wall, it would be fun to have a follow-up on how we should not have a ceasefire now?
But we don’t want a ceasefire, do we? Then the Russians can redistribute for an offensive in the Baltics, and that’s good for Ukraine – only – if it’s not a ceasefire..? Rather, Russia seems to be in a tight spot according to reports (at least logistics according to Fred’s post yesterday by someone here) and Russia must devote many soldiers and a lot of time, not to mention many Rubles, to advance and take the terrain that Putin now hopes to free up with a ceasefire.
Yes exactly 205 – now it’s Europe’s turn to do what they all promised me last winter they would do. They know who they are.
The no-fly zone, the shadow fleet, taking over Belarus border control – a good start.
The problem is that Europe has not managed to get organized in over three years so we simply have no surprises to deliver.
Ukraine has a motivation problem that Trump, after GRU/FSB planning, has done his best to trigger a nosedive.
If Ukraine now has a strategic offensive reserve and a drone/robot weapon worth the name – start putting robots in the Kremlin and retake Crimea?
Trump will scream but if the whole of Europe stands behind – what can he do?
That sounds good, but it’s also easy to say.
If it’s not backed up with promises of more and stronger support than what has been given so far, there is a great risk that Ukraine will still be forced to agree to something it doesn’t really want.
“The negotiations around the Ukraine war seem to be moving quickly now,” says Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) to TV4 News. “There is a great consensus among European countries that nothing can happen before Ukraine is involved, and it is only the Ukrainians who can determine what is a fair and acceptable peace.”

It’s fun when you’re a bit specialized – “is the entrepreneur’s program realistic”.
Find a staffing chart and draw an S-curve on it “yes”.
Then check that their piling method makes sense and that they have the right equipment just to be sure.
They will probably encounter technical problems and the end of the S-curve is a bit short so add five months?
Or you sit for three days and get lost in all the activities.

Daily Ukraine map thread for Monday 11th August 2025
Highlights: DeepState claims a large Russian breach of the Ukrainian lines north east of Pokrovsk which has been widened and almost reaches the Dobropillya to Kramatorsk highway.
Keep a very close eye on this area, and do not underestimate the impact this can have on the area. We thus far have seen no geolocations or footage from the area, hence why it is a large grey area – we are going entirely from the reports.
In other news, Russian flag raise in Zelenyi Hai in the Kharkiv region near Borova by the Russian 12th Tank Regiment. Borova is also an important supply line for Ukrainian forces over the Oskil river.

Good evening.
The other day I had a discussion with Chat GPT about Zapad-25
My concern is as follows:
What if Russia DOES NOT do anything during Zapad25? That is also a possibility.
Let’s assume that Zapad proceeded calmly and quietly… then Russia has won several things:
1) they are seen as keeping their word and not escalating, and that they are FOR peace
2) those who warned of a military conflict are seen as hysterical loudmouths (roughly speaking).
3) any power buildup from various countries will be disrupted “nothing happened…”
And it also allows more time for Russian buildup….
So the next “critical date” (as I see it) is:
October 7 – Putin’s birthday (in relation to the October 7 attack in Israel…)
October 14 – Pokrova – Protection of the Mother of God (Orthodox holiday with military/religious significance).
And… Christmas Eve…
Why Christmas Eve???
A) major holiday in Europe, many are off work. Institutions close
B) people are busy with celebrations, less attention..
C) a kind of “twilight zone” will be noted slower – depending on how it is carried out..
Mainly due to a high percentage of intoxication…
D) it’s in December, usually cold, has a significant psychological effect if for example the power goes out.
Thinking about Christmas AND New Year… New Year’s Eve is also the most practical: lots of fireworks creating light effects, people are usually very drunk, emergency services might be a bit reserved when someone (perhaps not completely sober) calls and talks about drones or soldiers… (most likely drones)…
Your thoughts?
Absolutely 👍
Everything probably depends on how the schedule goes but we can assume that Putin is thinking more war.
October month is Raspusitza and that’s probably when they’ll strike.
Christmas, just like August, is vacation and low season for our defense – the damn Russians would always attack on Christmas Day.
And yes – you get more out of the big blackout in the darkest December.
You can definitely use Zapad for capability building again like last time.
That there will be more wars, you can be sure that there will be
Just the fact that Ukraine is now pushing for a ceasefire and backing off at the frontlines should make everyone sleepless.
October month is Raspusitza.
Hmm, yes in ryzland, belarus and Ukraine…
What about the Baltic states… Which have decent roads…
That must have always been a problem, even during the cold war. So they probably have plans for that too.
The easternmost Baltic states also have terrible roads.
Hmmm, then are probably bad roads in Sweden the best defense against invasion…. ???
We don’t care about maintenance so the Russians can’t advance..
;P (can’t find any smileys…)
