Didn’t the Soviet Union have some kind of close relationship with the mafia even back then?
The logic was that in order to sufficiently oppress the citizens, the mafia was a good comrade?

Otherwise, I agree, so far it has always gotten worse with a major change in Russia, so why would everything become Scandinavian democracy this time?
Now countries with borders will not take chances and if they haven’t already, they will want peace by preparing for war, and NATO is by no means obsolete.

There was a very lively discussion in the thread about this and one probably came across as a bit cold when claiming that nothing would come of this mobilization either. I have actually not yet seen a Russian soldier complain about being forced to fight in Ukraine against Ukrainians; all the complaints are about food, cold, Ukrainians shooting back, and everything else that doesn’t work.

I dare not say the same about civilians because there are of course some, but I have not seen an organized war resistance that reaches the front pages of newspapers “Russians against war in London, in Berlin, at Sergels Torg.”

The demonstrations in the big cities died out quite quickly because they were too small. Now the oppressor units are basically wiped out and if the people rose up, it would be full speed ahead, entire regions could break away.

Unclear exactly how revolutions start, there is always an external party is a truth I have been told but there should not be a shortage of external parties pouring gasoline on the fire here?
The other thing is that the time is ripe and then a shake-up that is big enough is needed.
The war was not enough, that it is going badly in the war was not enough, and neither was the mobilization.
I am beginning to suspect that loss is not enough either.

I usually see a hidden offensive around every corner but it has been a low-intensity period again.
The Russians have escalated their high-knee operations for a while now to please the new boss, nothing livens up the Russian army more than human sacrifices.
