Now I have applied for district heating and am resistant to facts but have a couple of questions,
-after the increase, what do you pay per kWh (or equivalent?)
-surely you can switch to pumps/ground source heat/solar heating if you want or are you locked into a lifetime contract?
-isn’t it more advantageous if you have a larger area? We will have 600m2 of living space going forward and I can only see that district heating is an advantage here. I have also been thinking about some solar panels but when choosing between different pumps, ground source heat, pellets or other, I think it comes out as a winner.

I have been explained that you cannot speculate in futures on Nord Pool for the variable price, so I am confident there.
Isn’t the electricity price today partly linked to the gas price?
Can you speculate the gas price up like you speculated the oil price after the 2008 crash, you remember when it went up to 240 dollars per barrel for a while?
(the country I worked in based its budget on that price despite some protests and had a rough hard landing).

It is impossible to offset an increase in an already large expense by 600% or more over a few years.
Exactly – unsellable – is something no one really counts on actually. You think you will always get something more than what you paid but as long as it is not sold, bills and loans keep ticking.
If you have a house and a holiday home that need heating, it does not get cheap December-February and now many are probably trying to drain the pipes in panic and run the freezer with the house which probably results in enormous maintenance costs instead.
What is sad in this context is the enormous pressure this puts on otherwise fully functioning families.
I don’t think it is unnecessary luxury to have a villa in a city somewhere in Sweden and a small cottage.
We have created an energy underclass of quite large groups. I would write something about those on benefits managing but they get hit by inflation instead.

I can understand that these high electricity prices combined with rising interest rates put pressure on house prices.
I can imagine that there will be quite a large rotation of pensioners moving from houses into apartments fairly soon, not because of the loans but because of the electricity bill and general inflation.
Then, reasonably, the dream of a large villa for families with children will soon become the dream of a small warm apartment?
For those with money, large villas and holiday homes should become attractively priced going forward, along with farmland, if they are not already.
There was no higher salary as compensation in 2023 at least for those who let the union negotiate for them.
