Worth saying again –
– shut down 6 nuclear reactors.
– heavily taxed the combined heat and power plants until a couple shut down in SE3 and SE4.
– imposed levies on hydropower causing up to medium-sized dams to start closing.
– allowed data centers to establish themselves, which draw +5% of Sweden’s energy.
– actively pushed for electric cars which increase electricity consumption.
– driven wind power which is directly harmful as it fluctuates too strongly.
And now we are sitting in the middle of this mess with no solution.
Is there anyone in the thread who can point to a good decision that has been made?
There was someone yesterday who should become Minister of Energy because he described how we should have required that all electric cars could function as batteries, I’ve forgotten the name but you have my vote 😃

It takes a very long time to build up prosperity and all countries go through their cycles, but actively accelerating a downturn is a bit exciting, somewhat like Venezuela.
It goes quite fast to bring down a country, but it doesn’t show for quite a long time. Now we are starting to see the results of decisions made quite a few years ago. There are many to blame for this mess over the past 15 years, and we all probably have our pet theories about what is the worst.
For me, energy supply is the worst, not because of indoor temperature and the electricity bill, but because citizens are now stopping spending and companies are starting to close – solely due to the electricity price.
If we had our 6 shut down reactors, this would never have happened and the state could have kept its target price at 75 öre.
Everything else would of course have happened, but a reasonable electricity bill would have softened the blow.
My guess is that due to the electricity situation, the recession is being strongly reinforced, right or wrong.
If we start talking about acute power shortages, my money is on rolling brownouts causing absolute chaos. Shutting down probably always goes according to plan, but when the party is to be restarted, then many things will not work and the outages will be longer than planned – right in the middle of the freezing cold winter.
Consider here that active efforts have been made so that we would no longer have gas, wood heating, and in many houses you are not allowed to improve energy efficiency as you want. All this went well until electricity prices multiplied tenfold…
Add everything else that is starting to roll into the country, so yes, the discussion at home is definitely about whether it might be time to move to Portugal.
