Some disaster warning here –
The Kurds are now fighting for Kobane, google it – Rojava is about to fall.
There are plenty of videos showing joyous ISIS terrorists who have captured female peshmergas that they will defile, torture, and kill.
Just like with Iran, there is a lack of demonstrations on our streets and the Palestine gang is quite silent – I know what I think about this and time and time again we have been shown that they are not entirely honest. Not because peace in Gaza is not an honorable thing because it is, but for the simple reason that they have sympathies for Hamas, Hezbollah, and ISIS in their ranks. When Kurds or Iranian opposition want to overthrow the mullahs, they become completely silent.
In fact, in Stockholm, two demonstrations clashed – pro-Palestine and pro-Kurds – what more do you need to see to understand who is hiding behind the good cause for Palestine?
Our youngest environmental activist and she who rhymes with Gadd are completely silent, and they are our biggest Middle Eastern megaphones standing at the forefront.
Turkey reached Trump and of all the crap he has done, this is the worst for me because he has given the green light to a massacre without hesitation, which was also completely unnecessary.
The Kurds are the most stable and rule-abiding group in the MENA region who have been absolutely loyal to the West – even God would see throwing them under the bus.
This mass murder is not yet on anyone’s radar for the simple reason that the opposition-building machinery has not started yet – and above you know why.
But it is also an excellent example that Europe cannot protect its friends when needed – because if the US withdraws, couldn’t we in Europe assist with airstrikes?
We have the satellites, we have the aircraft that can operate from bases in southern Europe, we have the air tankers, and it would not take more than 2-3 days of carpet bombing for the desire for mass murder to leave the ISIS terrorists.
It is Turkey that is leading this – believe nothing else.
Europe needs to start acquiring the ability to assist countries under attack in clear violation of international law and the legal order we claim to support – of course, we should have prepared to help the Kurds, but considering that it took us four years to get organized with Ukraine, the likelihood is low.
Turkey will pay for this, I’m quitting kebab 😡
I have a post in progress about Davos, but Macron wanted China to come to us instead, the solution to a bad USA is NOT China, I don’t know if Macron maybe just provoked because he is a bit of a troublemaker that drives you crazy, but in any case, bad.
Rojava is ¼ of the Kurdish territories – they are in SE Turkey, northern Iraq, and NW Iran, but since Turkey went after them in Syria, the Turkish territory is guaranteed to be planned for mass extermination.
And then maybe Iraq will get the urge again and move north?
In the MENA region, the Kurds are a reliable ally who absolutely stands on the right side of history.
Just the fact that most people reading my posts about the Kurds have not yet noticed it is so damn telling of who we have with us in the MENA region – when Hamas is beaten, the streets are filled with demonstrators, and on October 7, 2023, it was a public celebration and jubilation on the same day.
When the Kurds are wiped out or 300,000 Iranians are injured, silence echoes. Our media probably has “Middle East experts” who bring in what they think the media should report on, and they obviously do not feel for the Kurds and Iranians.
I come across anti-Kurdish posts on X and the videos and images are horrifying.
Now, I don’t think it will happen, but IF the US decides not to assist Iran with an air operation, then I almost give up hope.
I think it depends on Israel being genuinely afraid of Iranian retaliation, their Iron Dome wavered considerably last time.
But I guess that if the regime slowly falls, the last thing they will do is rain rockets over Israel anyway – a quick intervention would be better for everyone.
Anyway, we are back to ISIS and genocide in Syria, as soon as the regime takes over prisons from the Kurds, tens of thousands of ISIS terrorists and their families are released – this is one of the most illogical things I have seen in the last four years – they have gladly given everything back to ISIS that the West took from them with tremendous effort.
I don’t actually know where Russia stands in all of this, they liked Assad and the US helped to bring him down.
The worst part is that it is happening in silence, the West has turned over and fallen back asleep.
But hope is not entirely lost – the Kurds are also among the world’s best soldiers, and now they apparently already have a decent drone weapon, I saw – reinforcements are pouring into Syria right now, and the final word has not been said in this epic betrayal 😡
Don't forget to donate, Ukraine's cause is ours! Support Ukraine!

Russian losses in Ukraine 2025-01-22:

AFU reports:
“Ukrainian forces destroyed two Russian air defense systems — Buk-M2 and Buk-M3. A surveillance drone tracked them to their parking positions and coordinated the strike. Both targets were taken out of action. Estimated value: ~$70M.”

The silence regarding the Kurds is unfortunately very telling.
It’s not as quiet as Johan No.1 wants to make it, but I agree that it’s a bit strange that there isn’t more interest.
The Kurdish diaspora in Sweden is quite large, estimates point to between 100-150,000. That’s more than when it comes to the Palestinians. This should mean that many Swedes have also had contact with Kurds and should be aware of and interested in their situation.
However, the fact that there is still a lukewarm interest probably has its explanations.
To some extent, it may be because they don’t have their own state or country and are scattered in several countries, as well as being in conflict with several parties and also internally divided.
So, it’s quite complex. Not as easy for the media to write about in a simple and easily packaged way.
Another problem may be that Turkey is a member of NATO, they are supposed to belong to the good side, and even the EU tries to be diplomatically cautious towards Turkey.
The Palestine/Israel conflict has been internationally relevant for many years, and the conflict is geographically clearly limited, as are the two main parties involved.
I do not agree that it is “revealing” that it is quiet (implying that pro-Palestinians and Swedish media are ISIS supporters).
Third post about the Kurds and now you commented on them but in the context that the Palestinian issue should not be criticized 😀
I have commented before as well, but have been quite stressed in the past few days. Also, I’m not very well-versed in the Kurds’ situation so I don’t have much to add.
You are allowed to criticize the Palestinian movement and many of them deserve it, but do it in the right way, not with strange logic that doesn’t hold up!
Although I realize it was a mistake to criticize you, now there will be four hundred comments where you will do everything to prove that you are right! 😄
Now you are putting words in my mouth. I believe that it is indicative because I think that the media is:
So I do not believe that the media or the pro-Palestinians (except for a small group of extreme Islamists) are ISIS sympathizers, but rather that they are more anti-Israel (and Netanyahu has not exactly worked to change that) and the enemy’s enemy etc.
Ok, forgive me! I interpreted it as you being more inclined towards Johan’s track, that everything is controlled by HAMAS and ISIS-loving pro-Palestinians and that’s why it’s so quiet.
Then we agree a bit. Your first point is probably a big part of the reason why the quality of media feels like it’s getting worse and worse. In simplified terms, media chases clicks, readers don’t want to pay and don’t have the energy to read anything other than easy-to-read headlines.

Johan No.1, good that you bring up the Kurds (again). 👍
Something needs to be done, once again the EU is passive (we really seem to be afraid of conflict).
However, I can’t help but offer some criticism.
If someone is Pro-Palestinian but doesn’t protest on behalf of the Kurds, does that automatically make them a supporter of ISIS, a lover of HAMAS, and just generally rotten? I don’t see any Pro-Israelis, or anyone from the right (or for that matter any climate activists) demonstrating either. By your logic, everyone who doesn’t demonstrate must be a supporter of HAMAS and ISIS.
Having opinions and taking a stand in a conflict doesn’t mean that one automatically has to get involved in everything that happens in the world. Not getting involved doesn’t automatically make someone a bad person. Personally, I have only contributed to Ukraine in recent years, but that doesn’t mean that I think the war in Sudan is okay and that we shouldn’t care about people starving to death there.
Your rhetoric, where you try to demonize those you don’t like, is full of logical fallacies. I think it would be better if you stayed away from that kind of poor argumentation. It makes otherwise well-written texts lose credibility. Although I guess it might resonate with a large part of your audience.
I don’t deny that there are HAMAS and ISIS supporters among the pro-Palestinians, it would be strange otherwise since they partly have the same goals. Just as there are actually a few Nazis in Ukraine fighting against the Russians. However, that doesn’t mean that all pro-Palestinians are ISIS lovers and it doesn’t mean that all pro-Ukrainians are Nazis. You are using the same kind of rhetoric that the Russians use when they try to undermine support for Ukraine.
I agree that the media is not really keeping up, even though there is actually some coverage. Here is what I found quickly from the past few days:

Anti-Israel/pro-Hamas sentiment has a clear connection to the regime in Iran, which finances Hezbollah, a sister organization to Hamas. The Iranian regime finances both.
“The spider in the web is Iran, which provides these groups with money, training, and weapons.”
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/hamas-hizbollah-och-huthirebellerna-sa-hanger-grupperna-ihop
Iran, which finances the terrorist-classified Hamas, also clearly takes a stand against Israel.
The protests, led among others by the representatives Johan mentions, do not distance themselves from Hamas. Therefore, wouldn’t it also be strange to distance oneself from the regime in Iran that finances the group Hamas?
Instead, those behind and participating in the protests, where there has been no distancing from Hamas at all, but rather legitimization of the group, are likely concerned that the financier Iran might somehow lose influence, regardless of the civilian cost this may require?
“At a climate demonstration in Amsterdam in November, Greta Thunberg handed over the microphone to a person, Sara Rachdan, who on stage chanted slogans questioning Israel’s right to exist and who praised and defended Hamas’ massacre of Israeli civilians. The slaughter of children, youth, women, and the elderly was called “resistance” and Israel’s warfare was equated with Nazi Germany’s genocide of Europe’s Jews.”

Now you’re both exaggerating, surely to make a rhetorical point.
It’s better that we agree that there are MANY hidden agendas here. Above all, it’s concerning that the EU population accepts (= doesn’t care about) Russia’s, Iran’s, and the USA’s influence operations and propaganda wars (listed in order of importance).
I believe that we should use all the tools we have to bring the hidden to light and fight back, including shaming. However, the most important thing is to bring hidden things to light, just as Johan usually does. Keep it up! Nevertheless, it may be important to keep it clean and not get stuck in the militant quagmire, you’re absolutely right MXT.
Yes, I know that you can’t accept that the Palestinian issue is infiltrated and a political weapon 😀
They are infiltrated but hardly the entire movement.
You took the words right out of my mouth MXT 👍
What I think is missing in the interpretation of who takes a stand against what is the class perspective. The left is against capital and thus against the stronghold of capital, the USA. The USA has clearly taken a stand in Israel/Palestine and the enemies of my enemies are my friends –> the left supports Palestine. Add to that the clear distinction between a strong/rich and a weak/poor party in the conflict (without taking a stand on who is right or wrong) and the left will take a stand for the weak/poor party. Parts of the left will also in an unhealthy way connect Israel and Judaism to capital.
In other MENA conflicts, this dynamic is not as pronounced –> hence, activists for Palestine and the rest of the left do not take a stand as clearly.
To criticize someone for taking a stand on one issue but not another will only backfire on oneself as long as one does not have an opinion on absolutely everything.
Personally, I reserve the right not to take a stand on the Israel/Palestine issue (which may upset some people). It is far too complex while being filled with individuals who have an extremely black-and-white interpretation, regardless of which side they support.

“😔 About 7,000 Ukrainian civilians left Donetsk region in a month As of today, 190,000 people remain in the territory of Donetsk region under Ukrainian control, 12,000 of whom are children.”
Several board members of the Civic Assembly are leaving their positions in protest. This is reported by Dagens ETC.
The resignations come after party leader Daniel Sonesson tried to finance the operations through contacts with controversial politicians in Brussels. In internal emails that the newspaper has had access to, he claimed to have contact with the Italian government party Brothers of Italy and the Polish Law and Justice party. However, instead, he met with Fernand Kartheiser from Luxembourg.
Kartheiser has a background as a double agent for the Soviet Union and the CIA. He has made several pro-Putin statements and also said that Europe should approach Russia. Last spring, he was expelled from the European Parliament’s conservative ECR group.
In an internal email, one of the resigned Civic Assembly politicians writes that the contacts with Kartheiser “should actually be reported to the Security Service”.
“It was a thoughtless, careless, and power-hungry behavior,” the person writes.
Sonesson confirms to Dagens ETC that the meeting took place but also states that the party “fully and clearly stands behind Ukraine.”
That party never amounted to anything.
“Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky are set to meet in Davos, as reported by Politico.
At 09:30, Zelensky’s staff could confirm that he has landed in Switzerland, and that the meeting is scheduled for 13:00 local time.
The meeting is to take place after the signing ceremony for Trump’s so-called peace council, writes Politico. Trump is also scheduled to have bilateral meetings with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and leaders from Poland, Belgium, and Egypt.
At the same time, Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff is planning to travel to Moscow tonight to meet with Vladimir Putin. Witkoff stated that discussions on peace boil down to ‘one question’.”
Greenland
“Donald Trump says he agrees with NATO on a framework for a new agreement regarding Greenland. According to sources in several media outlets, it includes, among other things, the US having priority access to all extraction of rare earth minerals on the island.
It’s “absolutely crazy,” says Malte Humpert of the American think tank The Arctic Institute to CNN.
– The idea that you could turn Greenland into the US’s factory for rare earth minerals is science fiction. You might as well extract them on the moon. In some ways, it’s actually harder than on the moon.
According to CNN, Greenland has been trying for decades to attract foreign investors to their mineral resources. However, there are plenty of issues. Thick ice, lack of workforce, and nonexistent infrastructure in large parts of the territory would require massive investments for companies wanting to start mineral extraction.
– It’s simply an incredibly challenging environment to conduct mining in, says Ian Lange, former Trump advisor and professor at the Colorado School of Mines.” https://omni.se/trump-vill-utvinna-gronlands-mineraler-experter-kallar-det-helknappt/a/k0R759
“Many of the USA’s European allies breathed a sigh of relief after Donald Trump on Wednesday evening said that he does not plan to take over Greenland by force and that he has started working on a draft agreement together with NATO.
The Greenlanders are not necessarily as happy. On Facebook, the Greenlandic parliament member Aaja Chemnitz raged against the negotiations.
‘NATO has no mandate to negotiate anything at all without us from Greenland. The idea that NATO would have anything to say about our country and our minerals is completely absurd,’ she writes.
The Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen also seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, pointing out that Trump’s ambition to take control of Greenland still seems to stand.
‘Of course, it is positive in itself what the president said about using the military, but it doesn’t make the problem disappear,’ Rasmussen said according to Deutsche Welle.”

“With the help of sources in American media, a picture is beginning to emerge of the contents of the new framework agreement on Greenland between Donald Trump and NATO.
The Wall Street Journal writes that the exact outlines are unclear, but European sources say that the ongoing discussions will revolve around several themes. More American soldiers in Greenland and increased European efforts in the Arctic are on the table. In addition, the US should be given veto power in matters concerning Greenland’s minerals, as a way to prevent Russia and China from investing, according to the sources.
The framework agreement also includes the principle of respecting Denmark’s sovereignty over the island, according to two sources for Axios. At the same time, the “Greenland Defense Agreement” between the US and Denmark from 1951 is set to be refreshed. According to the sources, the agreement also includes provisions for the US to build “the golden dome,” the complex missile defense system that Trump dreams of, in Greenland.
Sources from Deutsche Welle describe the agreement as consisting of four parts: abolished tariffs, updated Greenland agreement, American influence on investments, and increased European presence. But several key details are still to be discussed, according to correspondent Misha Komadovsky.
According to sources from The New York Times, the possibility of Denmark handing over control of smaller Greenlandic land areas to the US was also discussed.”

“What we know about a potential deal is very limited. An official who spoke to my colleagues on condition of anonymity likened the idea of giving the United States sovereignty over small parts of Greenland to Britain’s military bases in Cyprus, considered British territory. (The officials said they did not know if that idea had inspired the framework announced by Trump.)”
— Katrin Bennhold, NYT
“A couple of European correspondents are harshly criticizing Donald Trump after the Greenland issue and subsequent U-turn. The President will now pretend that he has accomplished something, which is completely nonsensical, writes Sky News correspondent Mark Stone.
Trump backed out as soon as he had the chance, and the only thing he has managed to do is cause permanent damage to NATO cooperation, Stone continues.
BBC’s Europe correspondent Nick Beake describes Trump’s actions as the “mother of all retreats.” In his text, he highlights the efforts of NATO chief Mark Rutte. Previously, Rutte has been mocked for praising Trump and calling him “Daddy,” but this time he actually seems to have made Trump back down.
“The tensions have eased now, but this is far from resolved.”
Even German and French media are filled with analyses of Trump’s U-turn. The German TV channel ZDF’s political commentator Diana Zimmermann and Die Tageszeitung’s writer Leon Holly agree that the threat to Greenland remains, despite Trump’s explicit promise not to use military force.
“As is well known, one cannot take Trump at his word. Furthermore, the bully confirmed his imperialist ambitions in the next breath,” writes Holly.”

At least he’s wrong – the USA will strengthen its military presence in Greenland according to current agreements and then start buying land from Greenlanders that no one can stop.
Kuba
“Sources tell the Wall Street Journal that the USA is actively working to overthrow Cuba’s communist regime before the end of the year.
There is still no concrete plan on how to end Cuba’s seven-decade-long communist rule, but Americans believe the time is right. They see Cuba as significantly weakened since their ally Nicolás Maduro was ousted in Venezuela.
Trump officials have met with Cuban exiles and civil groups in both Miami and Washington. The goal is to identify someone within Cuba’s government willing to turn their back on colleagues, similar to Venezuela, where an insider was helpful when the USA overthrew the government.
However, identifying a clear plan for Cuba’s future is more difficult, say the sources, as it is a one-party state that essentially lacks civil society and opposition.
“This is a much tougher nut to crack. There is no one enticed to work on the side of the USA,” says Ricardo Zúñiga, who worked on the Cuba issue during the Obama administration.”
https://omni.se/kallor-usa-jobbar-aktivt-for-att-storta-kubas-styre-i-ar/a/j0BR9L
As mentioned – the USA does what benefits them now.
Getting all the Cuban cigars is a huge win.
Should the USA take Cuba? Will it be the 7th attempt?
Just like with Venezuela, now if you get an insider it’s more like cutting off one head of the hydra than breaking a communist regime. The USA has regressed to the 1970s, democracy is completely uninteresting as long as the dictator is not a socialist. A right-wing dictator is even better than a democratically elected socialist.
Trump’s Peace Council
“Vladimir Putin is open to transferring one billion dollars from the Russian assets frozen by the international community to Donald Trump’s new so-called peace council, writes Moscow Times.
One billion dollars is also the price that Donald Trump has mentioned for countries wishing to buy a permanent seat on the council. It is unclear if Putin means that the money should be used in that way.
The rest of the frozen Russian assets could be used to rebuild Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement, according to a statement from Putin on Wednesday.
The proposal to establish Trump’s peace council is expected to be formally signed on Thursday. The vast majority of the around fifty countries invited have not yet indicated their intention to join.
On Thursday, Russia and the US envoys are also expected to meet for a meeting.
Russia cannot access the frozen assets without the consent of the countries that froze them.”

USA starts moving IS prisoners out of Syria
USA announced yesterday that they had moved 150 IS fighters from a detention facility in northeastern Syria to Iraq and that they may eventually move up to 7,000 more.
The transfer came amid concerns that thousands of former IS fighters and their family members could escape detention as the Syrian government and Kurdish-led forces vie for control of the area. The 150 fighters were taken to an unspecified “safe location in Iraq,” the US Central Command said.
Good! 👍
I hope not too many will get away.
More about IS
“Swedish IS members may have been released when Kurdish forces were pushed back in northern Syria, reports Aftonbladet.
The Kurdish self-government has for years held IS members and their relatives in several different detention camps, but during the escalating clashes with Syrian government forces, the Kurds have abandoned several of the camps.
Malena Rembe, an independent analyst in terrorism and security policy issues and former chief analyst at the Swedish Security Service, says that there is also a risk that the investigations against the European IS travelers who have been detained in the camps will be destroyed when the Kurds are forced to retreat.

I don’t understand how the world in any way exhaled yesterday around Greenland. Since when can Rutte negotiate about Greenland? Frederiksen wasn’t even present in Davos. I think this smells like the Ukraine war from a mile away, where the USA and RU are making deals over the heads of other states, but this time it’s the USA and NATO.
Sure, Rutte can talk about military reinforcement, but parts were also about mineral extraction, etc. It’s completely crazy how NATO can come up with such proposals without consulting with DK/Greenland (just like in the negotiations between USA/RU).
The world is still heading straight to hell.
As mentioned…
https://omni.se/a/BxlgP0
Frederiksen shoots down the new agreement: “The NATO chief has no mandate to negotiate”
Agree that NATO engages in such agreements..
At the same time, it’s difficult to know what applies..
“NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte rejects the information in several media outlets claiming that American veto rights over potential mineral extraction in Greenland are part of the agreement being negotiated. This is reported by Reuters.
According to Rutte, no agreements regarding minerals have been discussed at all. However, NATO countries will need to increase their military presence in Greenland.
According to Reuters, Rutte was asked whether it is really possible to trust what Trump says, and he replied:
– You can always take Trump at his word.”
https://omni.se/rutte-gronlands-mineraler-inte-en-del-av-avtalet/a/JOJj0P
Completely absurd that there should be uncertainties about things like this…
Agree, it’s well the new era where rumors and inaccuracies spread faster than the truths so in the end one doesn’t know what is true.
Rutte is rotten, Trump must have had a hand in it when he was appointed as NATO chief.
Time for the comment field to understand that the USA/Trump will now lean on previous agreements and significantly strengthen its presence in Greenland – without anyone being able to say a word.
Then over time, they will buy land from the Greenlanders completely legally.
Well, there is so much that is strange. Usa and Trump have not suddenly become nice and on our side even though they have backed down in the Greenland issue.
They haven’t really backed down, it’s just like with Ukraine, they negotiate behind Greenland and Denmark’s back, and then Denmark becomes the scapegoat if they don’t agree to the generous conditions Trump has set.
And why should he negotiate with the NATO chief, well, because Rutte has his tongue up Trump’s ass. It’s just like when Witkoff negotiates with Putin, they are both on the same side.
I wonder why the agreement from -51 is not enough, is it just because Trump didn’t sign it?
Could it be that in the new agreement it doesn’t say that NATO should have troops there, but that Usa should have troops there, and then there’s the thing with the minerals, which Trump wants as a bonus/bribe.
I’m going to be a bit contrarian as usual….
It is claimed that the USA has played war games with China as the opponent and concluded that they lack a path to victory.
If this is true, it would be natural for the USA to want to focus its resources on creating a position where there are paths to victory.
Considering the already strained state finances of the USA, there are obvious budget constraints to reach such a position.
Considering that the European part of NATO has de facto underfunded its defense for decades, it is reasonable for the USA to demand that we step up. For example, maybe by taking on a greater responsibility for common security in the Arctic.
I’m not familiar with the details, but the overall need described by Trump doesn’t sound unreasonable. It also doesn’t sound unreasonable that Trump believes Europe should step up its share of responsibility and costs. It also doesn’t sound unreasonable that Europe has lagged behind in this area for years despite repeated assertions. In the end, maybe forceful statements are needed to make something happen? One could even think that European leaders need to be subjected to this external pressure to justify to their voters investing money in this area instead of various other things like engaging in self-harming behavior in their energy supply and donating billions to “green” subsidy entrepreneurs.
So… the only thing Rutte has done and possibly had some kind of mandate for is perhaps to point out a way for Europe to start taking action instead of bullshitting on the issue.
“If this is true, it would be natural for the USA to want to focus its resources on creating a position where there are paths to victory.
The first thing to do in this situation would probably be to build alliances. Instead of making strong efforts to break existing alliances.
The threat from Russia provides a clear and well-motivated opportunity to eliminate for a long time to come, together with partners. However, today’s USA does not seem interested at all.
As it stands now, it appears that we (in Europe) will never be able to trust that the USA is our friend again. (To paraphrase a respected writer on this blog.)
Otherwise, there is a lot of truth in what you write.”

I’m not particularly well-versed, but with that caveat, I agree that the betrayal of the Kurds seems to be very significant.
Then there’s Europe. Ideas that revolve around Europe saving humanity and the entire planet from all evil by being good have been very dominant here for decades. More often than not, this goodness has mostly served as signaling. It’s one thing to demand things from others or everyone in the form of the state and to make some sacrifices or take risks oneself in the pursuit of making the world a better place.
In any case, one cannot spread good values and rule of law if one renounces the possibility of using power/violence. Europe has long chosen not to acquire the power that would be required. Just the combined GDP of the Nordic countries is larger than Russia’s. The EU could have acquired a military force that would be completely superior to Russia’s. Including European nuclear weapons, formally owned by France or the United Kingdom (European governments have chosen to invest money in showcasing goodness instead).
There is an old proverb that says: “The law sits at the tip of a spear” (1). It still applies. If one does not accept this, one cannot claim to be in favor of the rule of law.

Yes, exactly, without the ability to fight, it doesn’t matter if you have the right to self-defense on your side when a gang breaks into your house.
And if it happens to your neighbor and you do nothing in your eternal signaling of goodness, you are not a winner either.
A small detail – if Europe were to pool together what we have, it is a lot, but it is divided among 28 countries, each with different opinions.
As soon as we solve it by giving power to the EU and its own army, some group will immediately work to persuade Africa to give us everything we need cheaply.
My 10-point list that Kristersson now, admittedly, asked for, and Macron too, did include SUPPORT UKRAINE and ARM UP as two very important points.
I have a post coming tomorrow that, in addition to proving that the Palestinian movement has capsized and is fighting with pro-Kurds in Stockholm and that the Green Party is completely infiltrated, discusses it.
We no longer get anywhere with the USA/Trump other than to note that they are doing what is good for them now and it is not good for us.
Half of Europe, of course, came to the conclusion that we should turn to China instead – a double mistake.
Yes, exactly. Since the USA started acting as the world’s police, we have functioned more as the world’s conscience. We have neglected our defense because we have been buddies with the police, and the Police has of course enjoyed having the monopoly on violence.
We have also had a good time, when we haven’t needed to spend a lot of money on defense, but instead been able to think about how to save the world without needing to fight.
Now that the world police has a police chief who has gone completely bananas, many have probably realized that the old times are over.
As the Prime Minister of Canada said, “if we are not at the table, we are on the menu.” This means that we must ensure that we stick together in Europe, alone we are too weak. Semi-dictatorships like Hungary and Slovakia that try to divide us from within should choose whether they are with us or against us.
We should also have a common defense, the old world police no longer exists, it has now become a “gun for hire”, and even though I believe that the US army does not agree to everything, at least the heyday of the USA is over, as Trump has ensured with his “America first” agenda. Even if a sensible president comes in the future, we can no longer rely on the USA, that time is over.
So, we should have a defense, this defense should defend Europe’s borders, and ensure that the dictatorships in the east and west do not think they can threaten advantages. We should not use the defense to threaten advantages for ourselves, but to defend ourselves, and also help where people need help, not as the USA has often done, replacing leaders with USA puppets, but helping the people. If we had a common defense, we could now decide to help the Kurds, for example, and not sit and wait for the USA.
We can hardly continue to rely on the US nuclear umbrella. I am not familiar with the details of the UK’s and France’s capabilities in that regard. If necessary, a natural step here would be for other countries to participate in the development and financing of weapon carriers.
I saw that MXT covered above that the USA will strengthen Greenland militarily within the existing agreement and start exploiting the country.
Is it a way to secure rare earth metals?
Why Europe hasn’t done it already is hard to understand?
Well, not easy at all but the fact that China can cut off the tap should make it a security issue.
Budanov says that they are far along in a peace agreement already.
Since you all know that a ceasefire is bad, this is bad, but Ukraine is under just as much pressure as Russia.
Everything boils down to whether Europe is doing enough or not, and if Ukraine is truly interested in a ceasefire, then Europe is not doing enough at all.
We already knew this because UA has an acute shortage of LV ammunition…

The list of newspapers above that describe the Kurds’ struggle right now –
they write quite neutrally in my opinion?
What is happening is a massacre of Kurds and Rojava is soon overrun unless the Kurds themselves can resist – for those who want, there are hundreds of films of beheaded children, raped and tortured women and raped and tortured men.
Then they are fighting completely alone against Turkey and Syria.
Did the listed newspapers describe the situation at all, I didn’t think so.
Our newspapers should reasonably be shouting about a boycott against Turkey and Syria?
Palestine activists or left-wing party members could be recognized from afar in the 60s/70s. Often the family arrived, 2 adults and several children crammed into a Citroën 2, also called a desert rat or lingonberry picker. He wore a green loden coat, baggy brown corduroy pants, and sturdy heavy shoes. Long hair and round glasses, she in a home-knitted skirt, Palestinian scarf, and beak shoes. Both adults were probably radical medical students.
Both surely changed political allegiance from left to right when they received their first paycheck.
Like most young radicals, they grow up to become well-paid accountants, bank clerks, and lawyers, and suddenly it was more interesting to lower marginal, capital, and capital gains taxes. 😂
By the way, was batik pattern common as well?
Hahahaha – I had a total far-left radical extremist in my class in high school who was against everything.
Met him 10 years later at some class reunion and he arrived driving an expensive BMW motorcycle in designer clothes and the latest phone while I was still trying to get through university back then, I had borrowed an old Toyota Corolla to get there…
He had stumbled into finance through some math job and turned out to be a genius at it and made millions – he was now just as annoying but from the position of standing and laughing at us poor folks. It was easier when he was the champion of the working class, I thought.
Had another classmate who was in the nerdy group and started an IT company in 1993, and when he was already financially independent he bought Bitcoin early. He even married a Korean woman and has been traveling the world ever since.
Then we had the super-feminist in high school who never missed a chance to tell us guys how bad we were, she married an abuser and didn’t leave him for 15 years but became skilled at covering up black eyes with makeup – tragic.
Desert rat or Lingonberry picker 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Time to get tough, HAMAS is classified as a terrorist organization in Sweden (via EU) and it is forbidden to support them.
Freedom of speech is important, but this is pure propaganda aimed at promoting the organization. It should be possible to stop it, but I guess no one dares to try because they are afraid of not getting justice in court. Which I think is wrong if a terrorist classification has been made. It is not okay to spread racism publicly, it is not even okay to defame someone, so that shouldn’t be okay either.
Yes, they write quite neutrally about the Kurds.
Perhaps the journalists want the opportunity to go on vacation in Turkey without being arrested…?
It may partly be related to what I wrote earlier.
Here it is quite clear, but the Kurds as a whole are quite complicated so maybe they simplify it for themselves and just report.
The party Nyans now publicly announces that they support Hamas.
I support Hamas ✊✊✊
What? They must really be desperate to get votes..
The Kurds are not really that complicated except that they need to be given some land.
When Syria collapsed, there was the possibility of giving an area to Alawites, Kurds, Druze, and ISIS.
PKK has been involved in some terrorist attacks and is classified as a terrorist organization by the EU, which might make it difficult to decide for or against?
Similar to Palestine, if they had consisted only of a peaceful civilian population, it would have been an easy conflict to take a stand on.
Who is eager to give up land? Most people seem to rather want to expand their “lebensraum” no matter the cost.
Airplane hijackings are good, Laila Khaled is a hero ✊✊
For me, PKK (possibly with others) are skilled at, among other things, smuggling drugs (opium/heroin) from Afghanistan to Europe. There are surely others who want that income…
Have you seen this 😶

If Ukraine chooses the US after all this, it is such a resounding failure for Europe and we deserve it.
By mistake, I have emailed out the Swedish version of tomorrow’s post, but it will be available here at 07:00.
And the English version will be available tomorrow morning.
Jacobus V11 –
I certainly think that the USA will be able to access land in Greenland according to Google AI?
Or did you get stuck on the word “buy”?
Yes, the Greenland Home Rule Government (now Self-Rule) manages land and can effectively “lease” it by granting long-term site allotments, as private land ownership doesn’t exist; all land belongs to the people, but you can get rights to use plots for specific purposes (residential, commercial) through the government/municipalities, similar to a lease, with buildings transferable but the land itself remaining public.
Or this one – they have already tried, but that was before China stopped selling to the USA.
Although Greenlandic officials have approached dozens of Canadian and Australian mining companies, many are hesitant. The Kvanefjeld dispute may dissuade the American investors that the government also welcomes. Because of the lack of infrastructure, all mining projects are greenfield land and investors need to build new roads, ports, and power plants. As of March 2025, the island has only two active mines: one for gold that is being commissioned, and one owned by Lumina Sustainable Materials for anorthosite. A ruby mine closed in 2024 after bankruptcy. “Investing in Greenland is not for the faint of heart,” CEO Brian Hanrahan of Lumina said, stating that the anorthosite mine was more complex than any of the 270 worldwide sites he oversaw at another job. Greenlandic governments have welcomed increased US interest and investment as long as it is respectful of sovereignty and Greenland’s right to self-determination.
Saw that you replied further up Jacobus.
I’m starting to have difficulty finding positive angles on how this is developing 😐
Ukraine resisted Russia and all Europe needed to do was wholeheartedly support Ukraine so that they could/would continue to fight.
According to Zelensky, we have not done that and he should have firsthand information?
That means we will have a US-brokered peace that will give Russia the way out they needed.
Which, according to our previous analyses, will be round two for Russia.
Just buying the dip in SAAB…
Well, then it will be dip and the rocket of the year when full war breaks out in a few years 😶
Wondering if this is what I have warned about, that Russia’s massive nightly terror attacks will finally start to have an effect. Without energy infrastructure, it becomes extremely difficult. It may be much worse than we know, so Zelenskyy feels like he has to choose between the lesser of two evils.
I agree, a huge failure for Europe if it’s Trump who manages to land a peace deal that Putin agrees to. If Putin agrees to it, we know that it won’t be a good deal for Ukraine.
Wow, it’s going to sting for you to praise Trump’s peace agreements for a few days 🤣
I know exactly how this is going to end – in the end, I (and you) will be sitting alone saying that Ukraine should continue to fight and comment after comment will be that it was probably for the best…

I still have some things to fix with the shop, and production will take some time, but soon it will be possible to place orders.
I was thinking of holding a vote on where the raised funds should go, but I have (which fits well with today’s post) decided that it will be Power Up Ukraine.
I am afraid Ukraine will need all the support they can get for a long time to come when it comes to energy supply.
You have my Swish for the shop, right – everything goes to Ukraine 👍👍
I’m really starting to get resigned here.
Unfortunately used the same terminology in tomorrow’s post as already posted but you might as well have a Carlsberg to calm down 👍👍
If one cannot do right when it is considerably easier than doing wrong – and the consequences of doing wrong are sky-high and known to all, then we have a serious systemic flaw built into the EU.
Financial crisis 2008. Refugee crisis 2015. Pandemic 2018. Ukraine 2022. When it mattered, the EU has failed.
But as someone wrote here in the thread: We have avoided war between Germany and France. And war is terrible so we should be satisfied with this. But it will hurt badly if Ukraine gets a bad peace.
Where is the strong leader who can speak for the entire EU, who can point with the whole hand….Von der Leyen?, don’t think so. We should have a European Churchill.
The European leaders just look at each other and wait for someone else to make the decision for them.
Where did Merz go?, he went silent after withdrawing the soldiers from Greenland after the exercise.
The only one I can think of is Alexander Stubb.
Dual language: add Sanna Marin👍
