  1. Now 1000 KWIA feels like a bad day at work, can’t even remember when it was below three digits. But for some perspective, it’s like three fully loaded X2000 trains crashing straight into a mountainside.

Very reassuring that high-level air defense systems continue to be taken out, as my Ukrainian colleague said, “Russia is big, we can hurt them in so many ways.”

    1. One also wonders what the reason is. Of course, we hope that it is because the Russian soldiers are running out, so it is not because Ukraine cannot hold out.

However, the losses are still incomprehensibly high.

      1. There is a lot of talk about Russia still managing to fill its mobilization quota and build new divisions outside of the war, which are supplied with new equipment. At the same time, they are holding the lines in Ukraine and are on their way to retake Kursk. The new divisions could be used to open a new front against the Baltics. In 2024, Russia recruited close to half a million soldiers. High-precision robots are also increasing in production in Russia by 1.2 – 1.5 times compared to 2024.

I listened to the radio program “GrΓ€ns” today. Russia is expected to manufacture 4 million artillery grenades by 2025. Europe will at best reach 900,000. The rearmament in Europe is progressing slowly, and it will take years before the capacity is hopefully expanded to meet the needs. Can Ukraine hold out while Europe is arming itself? I hope so!

        1. I believe that Europe must purchase equipment from, for example, South Korea to speed up the rearmament. Otherwise, it is progressing too slowly.

        2. Westley Richard

Much of the grenades that UA uses come from South Korea. UA has announced that they produce 30-50% of all military equipment in the country and expects to become self-sufficient in terms of artillery by 2025.
We should also not forget that the Russians use everything they produce and have in stock in the war. Europe has large stocks that they are currently increasing.

Europe should of course increase its production since we cannot factor in a Russian collapse, it will probably result in some form of peace/ceasefire, but until then we should give UA priority over Korean and other potential suppliers.

          1. Difficult to see Ukraine becoming self-sufficient in artillery SHELLS by 2025. However, they are able to manufacture artillery pieces, which is good and relieves the EU. Since the EU can’t even produce a million shells, it will be difficult to supply Ukraine unless the EU buys from other countries. Germany aims to supply Ukraine with 340,000 shells in 2025. They can’t manage more.

Does Ukraine order anything from South Korea or are all purchases, including artillery, made through intermediaries?

The EU, including Sweden, has set plans for the rearmament to be completed by 2030. If Russia stabilizes the situation in Ukraine, there is a window here that could be exploited, for example, for an attack in the Baltics. The EU is aware of this and is now trying to speed up, but it takes time to build capacity. Ukraine must resist and endure.

The EU talks about an Air Shield over western Ukraine. How difficult can it be? Get started. The Gripen is already in Poland.

    2. Mats – the problem is that those who were mobilized believed there would be peace.

They have zero plans to fight.

      It could get lively.

      1. Russia plans to mobilize 340,000 men in 2025. Of course, not all are volunteers, but the compensation is extremely high and many Russians are poor. A bit ironic that the war makes Russians poorer, making it easier to attract them with money. The point is that the meat waves show no signs of ending in 2025.

  2. ⚑️Update: 11 killed, 30 injured in Russian attack on Dobropillia in Donetsk Oblast.

The casualty count has risen in Dobropillia following a Russian attack late on March 7.

11 people have been killed and at least 30 have been injured, the State Emergency Service reported.

  3. Russia carried out a β€œdouble tap” attack in Dobropillya in Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine, targeting firefighters and EMS workers trying to control spreading fires caused by cluster munitions and incendiary warheads.

One firetruck was damaged, no information on casualties.

  4. My oldest son has apparently been accepted for conscription, which is great because he really wants to do military service.

Most of the guys in his circle of friends seem to want to do military service (it’s mostly guys in the circle), I think there is a large selection for available positions than there used to be.

It’s a bit funny that the conscription agency’s server crashed when all the teenagers simultaneously logged in to check the results.

This could hit Zelensky’s popularity in UA if they are cornered. UAF must ensure to resolve this and, in the worst case, withdraw from Kursk.

  8. Update from 08:00 08.03.2025 on the Russian invasion

In addition, the AFRF πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί conducted more than five thousand three hundred artillery attacks, including 157 from MLRS, and used 2696 kamikaze drones.

    2. Sorry for the poor translation:

“A total of 124 combat engagements were registered in the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, the enemy launched three missile attacks against Ukrainian units and settlements using 72 missiles, as well as 103 air strikes, in particular releasing 166 KAB. Additionally, over five thousand three hundred grenades were launched, including 157 from jet systems of salvage fire, and 2,696 kamikaze drones were involved for collision.”

    3. In the Kharkiv sector, the AFU πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ repelled four hostile attacks in the Vovchansk area and towards the village of Krasne Pershe.

In the Kupyansk sector, four attacks by the AFRF πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί took place yesterday. The AFU πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ repelled attacks near Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, and towards Kupyansk.

The AFRF πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί launched 17 attacks in the Liman sector. They attempted to advance near Hrekivka, Torske, Yampolivka, and towards Novyi and Novomykhailivka.

In the Siverskyi sector, the AFRF πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί made two attempts during the day to attack our units’ positions near Bilohorivka, but the attacks were repelled.

Nine firefights were recorded in the Kramatorsk sector in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Chasovyi Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, the AFRF πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί carried out 26 attacks near Diliyivka, Druzhba, Dachne, and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the AFU πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ stopped 24 Russian attacks in the areas of Yelizavetivka, Tarasivka, Nadiivka, Promin, Lysivka Oleksiivka, Andriivka, Ulakly, and towards Nova Poltavka and Pokrovsk.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the AFU πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ thwarted seven attacks against its troops’ positions near Kostiantynopil and Burlatske.

In the Orikhivsk sector, the AFU πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ successfully repelled four hostile attacks against the settlements of Stepove and Pyatikhatky.

In the operational area in the Kursk region, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 26 attacks from Russian invaders in the past day. Additionally, the enemy carried out 31 air raids with 42 guided bombs and fired 444 artillery shells at Ukrainian troops’ positions and locations, including 20 from MLRS.

    4. During the past 24 hours, the defense forces’ air, missile, and artillery units have taken out 12 areas with a concentration of personnel and equipment, a command post, an electronic warfare station, five artillery pieces, and an air defense facility belonging to the Russian attackers.

  9. Westley Richard

Ukrainian drone operators have become so skilled that they are following Russian motorcycle scouts back to command bunkers, then calling in artillery or sending FPV drones in to destroy officers and troop concentrations hidden inside.

The scale of Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russian targets has helped reduce Kremlin ordered assaults in the Pokrovsk sector by 80%. The fall off is due to troop shortages resulting from massive casualties and difficulties in signing up new recruits as news of impending ceasefire talks depresses interest in enlisting.

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2025/03/06/ukrainian-drones-followed-russian-bike-troops-back-to-their-dugout-and-then-the-drone-operators-called-in-artillery/

    1. If China were to stop the deliveries of all drones and drone components to Russia, it would probably be enough for Ukraine to win.
Ukraine is probably one step ahead now when it comes to drones, but the Russians also make full use of them and probably wouldn’t be able to manage without them.

      1. Westley Richard

It is important that the EU and the US scale up drone production even more so that the Russians have to hide in the basements of the ruined cities they have conquered. Add some EW to that so they can’t communicate with their leadership, and their motivation will surely hit rock bottom.

  10. That Trump favors Putin in his so-called peace negotiations and throws mud at Zelensky and UA is unfortunately something we have seen. But the least action should still be to demand from Trump that Putin stop constantly attacking civilian targets, right? Not even this do we hear coming from Trump. Russian bombs likely fell on civilians while Vance and Trump scolded Zelensky in the White House.

    1. Putin already knows what he’s doing, and if it’s pointed out, he will lie and say it must have been Ukraine because RU could never do such a thing. What Trump wants is to get Putin to the negotiating table, otherwise he will impose further sanctions on RU (he threatened to do so just yesterday) and arm Ukraine to the teeth.

It’s the same with Ukraine, if they don’t come to the negotiating table, the support for them will decrease/withdraw, the chaos in the White House led to just that.

Will Trump succeed in brokering peace? I am doubtful.

    2. The fact is that right after Trump removed early warnings for the United States, a robot rain came down that must have been prepared for weeks 🧐

  11. Have you recovered – yesterday was to say the least wild.

We have been exploring schools here until the summer – they want 60,000 SEK for three months of school and then it’s the only one that can be a little flexible with a start now type 😲

Time to go back to the employer and increase the ceiling for expenses in the country they are going to pay for…

Trump has made a whole battery of statements that are uninteresting. However, a Russian robot rain came EXACTLY after the US stopped everything to Ukraine and we all know that such efforts are planned at least two weeks in advance – there’s a nail in Trump’s coffin for you. And then the threat in Kursk that you hear about is a nothing burger – there will be a lot of dead North Koreans from that alone.

Then a little more came – Lukashenko has boasted that he helped stop the vodka run and that Western security services thanked him for it. Maxar also confirms that they have cut off access to Ukraine – a COMMERCIAL SERVICE IN THE FREE MARKET THAT TRUMP STOPPED – the man who wants capitalism, right?

And then Putin now refuses peace in several statements – what has Trump done to Putin now in sharp measures? He should at least try to overthrow Putin or something if it’s supposed to be fair treatment, but we already know that it’s not. Also, beware of hot air from Trump now where he says he will do things against Putin that are just words.

And then Trump has come out and wants to give Transnistria some kind of special status or similar, he is really interested in the strangest countries 🧐

      1. Simply choose to homeschool each other for a few years with material from YouTube πŸ‘

Imperial has some real gem that I’m going to try in a week, I thought.

  12. A lot of hot air. Mirages and illusions. Dense clouds but no rain. But the media have something to write about. The wise man bides his time.

  13. At the same time as Trump is trying to force Ukraine to peace, North Korean soldiers have now for the first time crossed the border into Ukraine in Sumy.
Does it feel like Putin is de-escalating at all here?

Putin is now escalating everything he can with North Koreans and robots – everything he can.

      1. Russians are careless, and they get away with it. I don’t think they act particularly consciously. But Ukraine can probably deploy some Poles in Ukraine. A few at first and then more. A bit like Russians do.

  14. Westley Richard

The daughter’s comments are as follows today.

“Dad, now it’s time for Sweden to acquire nuclear weapons as it is the only thing the Russians fear.”

That was her most important wish on International Women’s Day, that we should defend the freedom that women have in Sweden against the degrading view that the Russians have.

  15. Arm the entire Swedish population! Yes, I knooow, criminals, nutcases, and all sorts of other nuts… they shouldn’t be allowed to have weapons, right?!?
No, okay. I’m a bit (to put it mildly) upset… but anyway, all the hunters and other organized shooters that exist?! Immediately establish a female shooting corps, can surely be organized within the Women’s Voluntary Defence Service or something… Set up a drone corps, all FPS-playing youths (and even older ones who play FPS) qualify… (FPS = First Person Shooter)
We CANNOT sit and wait for someone else to take the initiative…
Personally, I have started trying to get my fitness in order (which is downright embarrassing), and learning to program in Python (probably faster progress with fitness, but at least I’ve started…), it can be used for drones, etc.
Everyone should create both a food/water supply for at least 4-6 months. Also, plan for evacuation, what to bring, where to go, how to get there.
Excuse the rant, but I’m so frustrated!

Unfortunately, gun owners have been fighting headwinds for many years. Authorities have done their utmost to counteract legal gun ownership while at the same time missing one of their most important tasks: ensuring that those who, due to illness, do not have their licenses revoked or paused. I do not mean that everyone should have a gun, but once approved as a gun owner, there should be more open doors.

In addition to this, significant and costly demands have been placed on shooting ranges, causing many of them to close down.
