👍 Lots of KAB and grenades.
Relatively high on tanks, good pressure on artillery as well. And personnel losses remain high despite decreasing number of attacks.
👍🏻
Always skeptical but often more or less in line with reality @Tatarigami_UA: “Rubio isn’t wrong. So far, we’ve had plenty of talks and promises, but little action. Security arrangements that don’t include a kinetic response to a new Russian aggression are ultimately meaningless. Europe isn’t ready, and I’m skeptical we’ll make real progress anytime soon.”

The mobilization of Ukrainian children into the Russian army is human trafficking. This was stated by the Save Ukraine team at a meeting at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna.
Russia commits a double crime against our children under international law: they are abducted and then used for military purposes.
We have rescued 615 Ukrainian children who were abducted by the Russian authorities from the occupied territories and moved deep into Russia. The testimonies of these children confirm three components of child trafficking. First, it is the forced transfer of underage Ukrainians to the Russian Federation, primarily boys from the occupied territories. Secondly, the systematic actions of the Russian authorities – indoctrination and mobilization into the Russian army. Third, the goal is to exploit Ukrainian children as manpower in the war against Ukraine.
Save Ukraine’s approach to classifying these crimes allows law enforcement agencies and international courts to more fully assess the scale of crimes against our children and give them a proper assessment.
That is why our work to rescue children from the occupied territories is extremely important. And we need everyone’s support!

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte:
“Let’s not be naive about Russia. Nobody is naive about Russia… This is not only a European conflict, but with China and North Korea and Iran being involved here, supporting Russia’s war effort, its onslaught on Ukraine, that it is really a global issue.
And that, in the end, there is, as I said before, there is an audience of one watching all of this. This is the first secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping. And he wants to know, at the end, who comes out on top.
Is it the West or is it Russia? And if it is Russia, it will give him thoughts about what he could do in his region, because he also has some territorial claims which he might want then to entertain.”

The German government has released preliminary figures on arms exports in Q1/2025. In total, arms exports worth around €1.47 billion were approved, while more than €573 million, i.e. around 39%, were intended for #Ukraine. Ukraine remains the largest recipient country by far!
@deaidua
I actually thought that Germany’s arms exports were larger. Or maybe it just shows that Sweden has a fairly large export considering our size. Sweden’s arms exports amounted to 29 billion SEK in 2024, up 69% compared to 2023.

Maybe it’s even the case that they intentionally let the Russians capture some of these infected drones 🤫
😄👍
I have some contacts with Americans and Europeans in other forums where we share some common interests in older English items of a certain character. I would like to describe the participants as upper-educated middle class with good economy. It happens that especially Americans buy products from Europe.
Of course, the trade war has come up and the Americans seem to have fully embraced Trump’s narrative. According to them, the tariffs are just a retaliation for the terrible tariffs that the EU imposes on American goods. In reality, they are 3.2%, but they insist with foolish stubbornness that they are 39% because that idiot Trump showed it on TV. They do not want to listen to the fact that VAT is something that also affects products that are produced in the EU. They do not want to acknowledge that they have different VAT percentages in each state and that it is the same as VAT.
International trade is not as common in the USA as in Sweden, which possibly contributes to their ignorance.
But one becomes surprised when people with whom one has shared a common interest suddenly appear as complete brainwashed idiots.
One thinks, how can Trump tell such obvious lies, he just embarrasses himself, but then one misses that people apparently believe in him so it doesn’t matter what he says.
It is obvious that not only poorly educated but also relatively successful individuals are buying his lies. Getting a sense that Trump is trying to gain sympathy by portraying Europeans as evil.
Mel Gibson and Stallone I know. Wasn’t Jon Voight also involved?
I got the impression that Matt Damon is a Republican but not very fond of Trump.
Then all the tech CEOs including the smarmy, fake-smiling hypocrite from Apple. What about Microsoft? Gates?
Don’t think Gates belongs there.
Very interesting. Drastically declining numbers in trust except regarding immigration. Hopeful.
It was the Democrats’ policy in the last area that gave Trump the victory. But if he messes up in all other areas, maybe one can hope for some kind of positive change.
Then a smoother solution would be to apply a 25% VAT on all goods in the USA, it’s almost the same as tariffs, right?
One problem for the USA is that they consume so many goods, and I remember seeing a figure stating that the richest ten percent of the population accounted for 50% of consumption. If that’s true, it means that the wealthy are contributing to a trade deficit for the USA. However, criticizing the population is not possible, just look at the uproar when Musk said that the USA relied on smart people coming there to work. I suspect that part of the criticism towards Europe lies there, justifying their own policies by criticizing Europe.

Europe must agree on roadmap to reduce reliance on US defense, Finnish minister tells FT. Finland’s Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen said that Europe cannot afford a disjointed transition in defense capabilities, which could provide Russia with an opportunity to exploit any gaps in the region’s security.

Wise words.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump wants Europe to buy American defense equipment to balance the trade and then lower tariffs.
The Swedish defense industry needs to scale up, and the state needs to help. That’s the opinion of Göran Mårtensson, Director-General of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, in an interview with Ekot.
“The state may need to provide support to increase the production of the defense industry,” he says.
According to a recent report from FMV, the number of deliveries within the Swedish defense industry that are not completed on time has increased in recent years. In 2022, 97 percent were on time – but in 2024, only 73 percent were delivered as planned.
“The current needs arise as a large-scale war is being fought in Europe, which the defense industry was not sized for before the invasion of Ukraine,” says Göran Mårtensson.
To address the issues, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration proposes that the state provide some form of guarantees to encourage the defense industry to scale up quickly and significantly.
I raised this issue a few weeks ago. It’s time to act NOW. We have high unemployment, trade wars, and an aggressive Russia. We can’t afford to sit idle any longer.
Exactly. In the nick of time.
That should have been started already in 2022, but it’s good if it eventually happens.
Agreed!
Then one would like to know why it hasn’t been done earlier 🧐
“US could earn $300 billion to $600 billion a year in tariffs,” — Treasury Secretary Bessent ❗️This amount reportedly assumes little change in tariff rates in the near term.

The stock markets have dropped $700 billion in two days, and tariffs are estimated to cost each citizen about $2500 per year in duties on goods they consume.
The money is just rolling in 🤡!

Hmm the USA, which allocates 3.5% to defense, including healthcare, pensions, etc., which we in Europe do not count, is planning to cut by 20% while wanting Europe to increase to 5%.
The punishment for several European countries consistently falling below the previously agreed upon 2%?
I think it would have been right if it had been about a normal dialogue between the USA and Europe where they reached an agreement on this and everyone understood why. Not like now when it is more or less a threat and extortion, and Trump is supposed to show that he is saving money for his easily fooled flock.
They should be renamed to BAAAAAAAD!
It is a bit strange that NATO agreements have not specified how much each member should contribute and what sanctions will be imposed if the requirements are not met.
Maybe that’s what happens when it’s an intergovernmental rather than a supranational organization?
At the major NATO summit at the end of June, they will decide on each country’s capabilities. The country affected by the decision is not allowed to vote.
Is it certain that all the figures are soldiers? Previously, there has been talk that primarily other personnel will be fired. Today, there is a shortage of about 40,000 soldiers after many quit due to the requirement for COVID vaccination.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but have seen figures showing that the EU spends 4 times more money on defense than Russia. Is that correct?
It’s difficult to compare apples and pears. A Russian soldier is cheaper than a Swedish one. A Russian truck is cheaper than a Swedish one. Is the quality better in the Swedish truck to justify the higher cost? One should probably focus on firepower and not on the money.
Yes, absolutely. But if it’s true, it points towards some form of reality.
Russia continues to bomb playgrounds and other places intended for children.

On my way to successfully invest in a bottle of Leyenda here 👍
Didn’t end up with much of a Friday night out yesterday, so I need to catch up so I don’t fall behind. If you start falling behind, it’s easy to become gloomy and negative, and then a downward spiral begins where you never catch up again.
Legend What is it?
For too long sobriety is not good. Yes, even serious. The depression is looming. A decent dose of alcohol at regular intervals is necessary to find harmony!
