Ukraine has attacked the Russian city of Voronezh – Russian losses

Ukrainian drones have attacked the Russian city of Voronezh, and the drones are said to have hit a shopping center, causing several fires in the city. Reports mention multiple explosions in the city and thick smoke rising from several locations. Residents of the city have reported that they did not hear any air raid sirens despite the ongoing attack. The Voronezh region borders eastern Ukraine directly, but the city of Voronezh is about 200 kilometers from Ukraine. Read more here.

In Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic finally loses power as he was defeated by the Student List. I am not well versed in Serbian politics or what the Student List stands for, but Vucic being voted out can only be positive, especially for Ukraine since he is close to Russia. Read more here.

Lula defeated Bolsonaro in Brazil’s election, where the difference in support for Ukraine is minimal as neither of them has wanted to engage much but tried to remain neutral. They seem to prefer maintaining good relations with the USA, China, and Russia rather than taking a stand. Bolsonaro is, of course, closer to the USA, and that is still better than Lula, who wants to move closer to BRICS and, as mentioned, neither of them cares much about Ukraine.

Russian losses

The enormous losses of Russian soldiers continue, although I think they could round up so that we again have 2k KWIA. Other losses are at a somewhat lower level. Looking at artillery losses, they rose sharply earlier but have started to decline since spring. Whether this is because supplies are finally running low, or because Russia has replaced artillery with drones, cannot be answered.

  • 1990 KWIA
  • 1 Tank
  • 4 AFVs
  • 18 Artillery systems
  • 2 MLRS
  • 1 Air defense system
  • 1656 UAVs
  • 1 UGVs
  • 322 Vehicles and Fuel tanks
  • 2 Special equipment

  1. ** With Kyiv’s air defense crews as they race to keep up with Russia’s jet-powered drones

In a cornfield north of Kyiv, pieces of blackened metal are scattered among rows of dried stalks. They are all that remains of a Russian Geran attack drone, shot down by Ukrainian fighter jets as it flew toward the capital during one of Russia’s mass aerial assaults.

“Last year we had so many of them,” says Halyna Prykhodko, deputy director of the Branytsia division of the agricultural company Zemlya i Volya. “We found three, four, even five in the fields.” **

  2. Off-Topic, Oljepriset

  3. Off-Topic, Trump i högform

    1. Good that the Russians are using their resources here instead of where they are needed.

Maybe after all it’s a good opportunity for UA to visit so that even more towers get built here.

    2. One can wonder what the crews on these systems say behind closed doors about Putin’s priorities?
Apart from the fact that they are probably grateful not to have ended up at the front.

  4. ** 🚨🇷🇺 Russia’s shadow fleet is taking AIS deception to a new level. At least 12 sanctioned tankers have reportedly used new AIS spoofing techniques in the Black Sea, with six transmitting two conflicting positions simultaneously. 📡🛰️‼️

The suspected objective: concealing actual movements from 🇺🇦 Ukrainian surveillance and drone attacks. Rather than simply going dark, these vessels can maintain false positions while navigating elsewhere, raising serious concerns about maritime tracking and safety. ⚠️ **

  5. It has been a long time since we heard anything from jockesoft.
Hope everything has gone well, that the bathtub is still there and that DenGamle continues to send barrels of weak beer.

      1. Speaking of bathtubs. Many years ago, I had a personal ad placed in the local newspaper where I live. It was under the heading “Bargain Market” and read something like this:
Reclining bathtub with 33 years behind it seeks interested user.
Well-maintained, no small leaks, easy-to-use connection.

  6. Off-topic Brazil and Serbia

That Serbia gets rid of its Russian scarecrow is good. Hopefully, the student list is EU-friendly.

If nothing else, Brazil’s result is a middle finger to Washington.

    1. Ah, looked around a bit.

They don’t seem to be much more pro-Ukraine, no promises of increased support, etc., but at least they acknowledge Ukraine’s territorial integrity. It doesn’t seem to be the case that just because you are against Vucic, you are automatically against Russia and for Ukraine.

Unfortunately, for example, they do not intend to impose any sanctions against Russia.
      https://n1info.rs/english/news/student-list-declares-stance-on-sanctions-against-russia-we-are-keeping-our-own-historical-experience-in-mind

The majority of them still seem to be more positive towards the EU than towards Russia, but far from all.
Of course, it is positive that there is a majority in favor of the EU, and in the long run, it might also get them to change their attitude towards Ukraine.

Fighting corruption and maintaining democracy seem to be their biggest issues. That is, of course, completely right, but we probably cannot expect any major changes regarding their relationship with Ukraine.

But it still feels like a step in the right direction.

  7. Off-Topic, nonsense from Trump

“US President Donald Trump claims that he called Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai to discuss renaming the Atlantic Ocean in the Google Maps service. According to Trump, Pichai put his foot down and said: ‘Please, don’t ask us to do that.’

The story has been told humorously by Trump at a series of campaign rallies recently. The president says he proposed the name ‘The Trump Sea.’

Google has not confirmed that the call actually took place, according to the Washington Post.

Google has previously accommodated Trump by changing the names of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario in Google Maps. For users in the US, they are now shown as the American Gulf and America’s Lake, respectively.”

  8. Off-Topic, the election in Israel

Netanyahu seems to feel a bit pressured.

“Before the Israeli election tomorrow, incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked U.S. President Donald Trump to show more support for him. This is reported by an American source to Axios.

The White House reportedly sees the appeal as a sign of Netanyahu’s desperation in the fight for political survival, and a sign that the Prime Minister himself believes his power is threatened.

The source states that Netanyahu has spoken with Trump twice in the past three days and asked him to show more support. Netanyahu is said to have even suggested wording that Trump could use.

As recently as Sunday evening, Trump showed renewed support for ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu in a post on Truth Social.

“The cries ‘Death to America, death to Israel’ should no longer be heard around the world, and they will not be. Vote for Bibi Netanyahu as Prime Minister. We must finish what we have started!””

  9. Off-Topic, the US Midterm Elections

“Expectations for Democratic successes in the midterm elections are growing, and opinion polls indicate that the party has good chances of taking the majority in the Senate. But it is not certain that the optimism reflects reality, writes New York Times’ Lisa Lerer in an analysis.

Control of the Senate depends on victories in states where the Democrats have not won for several decades, and which Trump won by a significant margin in the 2024 presidential election, she points out. In addition, the Republicans have pumped enormous sums into the election campaigns in these states.

“All this has led people within both parties to wonder: Could the much-talked-about blue wave actually be more of a ripple on the surface?” writes Lerer.

The Democrats have resorted to means other than money to win over states – including former President Barack Obama. He has already visited Ohio and Michigan, and is expected to speak in Georgia this week.

“Once again, Obama emerges as the messenger of hope, appealing to voters to realize that they have the power to create change in troubled times,” writes CNN’s Stephen Collinson in an analysis.”

  10. ** Russia Has No More Money to Throw at Its War in Ukraine. Its 2027 Budget Shows Why

Russia’s war machine spends more than $200 billion annually on its war against Ukraine. And this appears to be the maximum Moscow and the broader Russian economy can currently afford, as long as sanctions remain in place and prevent Russia from earning more. **

  12. ** Zelenskyy names three conditions under which Ukraine could cease strikes on Russian refineries

Ukraine could stop strikes on Russian oil refineries under three conditions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with journalist Alla Mazur, published on Oct. 25.
Mazur recalled that strikes on refineries were the “main complaint” of U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced a diesel deal with Russia on Oct. 9.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian strikes did not actually affect the rise in world oil prices, because Russian diesel makes up an insignificant share of exports.  …**

  14. Not that anyone cares and Trump is playing dirty, but Russia has, as far as I know, had an export ban on refined products for a very long time?

  15. Yes, they have a war machine on foot that requires large amounts of oil and diesel. Add to that UA’s attacks on depots and refineries. There probably won’t be much to export.

  16. Russian military channels have raised an alert of a potential Ukrainian British supplied storm shadow attack on Russia today, Britain has recently supplied Ukraine with a large amount of more missiles. /WarMonitor3

  17. ”The border between Sweden and Finland was redrawn in 1982

Since the Märket lighthouse according to the old border line was on the Swedish side of the island, it was decided in 1982 to redraw the border so that the Märket lighthouse now lies on the Finnish side of Märket. Since Sweden was compensated in connection with the new border drawing, it is today possible on the island to stand in Finland and look east towards Swedish territory and vice versa. Interesting considering that Finland is otherwise located east of Sweden.”

    Donetsk against: Alaska?

  18. It now seems that UA has taken the center of Torske in northern Luhansk.

This means that Zherebets is comfortably passed.

It also seems to confirm what we previously wrote, that UA was probing several crossings but that RU conducted counterattacks to try to stabilize the Zherebets line.

So now another bulge has formed between Torske – Yampil where 4-5 RU brigades are on the wrong side of Zherebets.

It is also VERY empty behind the front lines in northern Luhansk, no elite units as rapid response forces and most brigades are engaged in combat.

The next line is Krasna but for it to hold, RU must bring down more units from other areas.

It is an interesting flank battle for UA to now have Donets on their right flank and then can open an attack vector northwards between Zherebets – Krasna.

Since UA has now shifted to offensive operations, the Russian small wedges are no longer threatening to UA but a threat to the Russian units located in them.

  19. ETR and C gave up quite quickly it seems – “there is no support for a center” seems to be the quote that makes the rounds?

Has the Speaker decided on the continuation?

Now it should still go to M, right?

But the last attempt – should S get one more chance or will it then be SD?

If M fails, all parties presumably have the same chance to form a government?

I don’t quite understand the process and have gotten the impression that it should go in order of size, or is that wrong?

Then I’ve picked up that the one who gets the last chance when everyone is worried about a re-election has a greater possibility to force a government coalition.

The Speaker must be perceived as impartial, so he has quite a delicate balancing act to perform.

    —

It became EXACTLY the political deadlock one was most worried about 😐
