Kyiv Independent reports that Ukraine has, among other things, attacked a chemical industry in the Samara region. Images and videos on social media show smoke rising from the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant in Tolyatti. The information has not yet been confirmed, and there is also no information about the extent of the damage. Read more here.
Ukraine has also carried out attacks on the Russian-occupied Luhansk, with reports indicating hits on a transformer station and a “metallurgical plant” (e.g. could be a smelter, steel mill, or other type of industrial facility). Posts can be found here and here.

Good. When they start to get tired, something might eventually happen.
About time to say the least.
Fast ersätter de putte med putte2?
Are they replacing putte with putte2?
Of course, there is that risk, especially early in the war I know that it was written that the USA, among others, probably do not want to see Putin removed because there were even more “arrogant” ones who then risked taking over.
Many high-ranking military officials apparently advocated for attacking Ukraine with significantly larger forces than what was done.
So, it could actually get significantly worse with someone else, but my guess is that most people in Russia are starting to realize that they are digging their own grave and that the best course of action would be to withdraw.

Iran
“Donald Trump envisions a scenario where the USA takes control of Iran’s oil production in a similar way to Venezuela, he says in an interview with the Financial Times.
– Honestly, my favorite thing would be to take the oil in Iran, but some stupid people back home in the USA say: ”Why should you do that?” But they are stupid people, says the president.
Iran’s important oil island Kharg, located further up in the Persian Gulf, could be easily taken by the USA, he continues.
– I don’t think they have any defense.
During the night flight from Florida to Washington, Trump also spoke with several media outlets aboard Air Force One. He then said, among other things, that Iran has expanded its ”gift” to the USA and will now allow more ships through the Strait of Hormuz.” https://omni.se/trump-min-favoritgrej-vore-att-ta-oljan-i-iran/a/8ppvad
“American assessments that the Iran war could soon be over are rejected from an Iranian perspective, writes CNN, which has spoken with an anonymous security official in Tehran. The source claims that Iran has enough missiles and drones to continue.
‘This is our war, and we will not stop defending ourselves until we have taught Trump and Netanyahu a historic lesson.’
As the markets prepare for a fifth week of war, the Bank of New York Mellon writes in a customer letter that there has been a ‘clear shift towards preserving capital.’ The analysis from strategist Wee Khoon Chong is that investors want to take profits in assets that have performed well, but it is unlikely that the capital will move to interest-bearing investments.”

Two consecutive auctions, including 5-year (US5Y) and 2-year (US2Y) notes, drew some of the weakest demand in years, with traditional buy-and-hold investors stepping back and primary dealers forced to absorb larger shares of issuance.
Wallerstein, in a post on X, said the decline reflects a pullback by large institutional “direct” bidders, which typically anchor Treasury demand, highlighting growing vulnerabilities linked to the role of oil-exporting economies in financing U.S. deficits.
As energy infrastructure disruptions threaten export revenues, these investors may need to liquidate U.S. Treasuries to raise dollar liquidity, echoing dynamics seen during the COVID-19 shock.
Interesting, could be a first sign that the interest in US treasury bonds is starting to weaken. We’ll see how the 2, 5, and 7-year bonds perform in the coming months.
“The President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his advisors believed that the Iran war would lead to a quick regime change and a situation that would quickly stabilize, similar to what happened in Venezuela. This is written by James F. Jeffrey in an analysis in Foreign Affairs.
Instead, the war is starting to resemble more and more the war in Ukraine.
“The harsh Iranian response has led to a war of attrition and a possible stalemate, similar to the conflict in Ukraine. Like Russia, the USA has no clear path to a decisive victory and risks getting stuck in a protracted war,” he writes.
To avoid this, the USA may need to compromise in negotiations.
At the same time, the war risks making the USA less secure, writes Sarah Yerkes in an analysis from Carnegie earlier this week. Trump has justified the war by claiming that Iran posed an immediate threat.
“Instead of creating a world more favorable to US interests, the war risks disrupting US alliances, strengthening a regime that is more hostile to the USA than the one Trump wanted to overthrow, and fueling anti-Americanism,” she writes.”

“Donald Trump is considering a complex military operation where he sends soldiers into Iran to extract close to 450 kilograms of uranium, sources tell the Wall Street Journal. One advantage is that it would help him achieve the goal of disabling Iran’s nuclear capacity and ability to develop nuclear weapons, which is why the president is open to the proposal.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi has stated that the uranium is likely stored in two to three different locations.
Many similar source reports have leaked to American media in recent weeks, all with the common denominator that American ground troops are to carry out various missions in Iran. Each time, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responds the same:
”It is the Pentagon’s job to make preparations to provide the commander-in-chief with maximum flexibility. That does not mean the president has made a decision.””

Analyst Note: Day 31 rings like a quiet echo — every chip tracked, every concern voiced across the past month is converging toward what will either be an explosive catalyst for violence unseen in the Middle East for decades, or a decisive blow so shocking the world is left reeling. The war Iran planned for is arriving on schedule: the interceptors are thinning, the tankers are burning, the second front is open, and Iran’s Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles have still not fired. Washington and Tel Aviv bet on a war Iran never intended to engage on those terms. The Viper’s jaws are poised to snap shut.

Wondering if it’s the high altitude that makes him intoxicated. Many of the most sensational statements come when he gives interviews on Airforce One.
Maybe he should try trains, like the role model Putin?
Maybe you are onto something there, more railroad for Trump!

China has been strangely quiet. After all, they are the largest importer of Iranian oil, over 80% of Iran’s oil went to China by 2025, according to Reuters. I don’t think they would be particularly happy about Trump having control over their oil supplies.
They filled up their oil reserves at the end of last year, so they probably had an idea of what was coming, but sometimes the breaking point comes for them too.
It seems like the weapons they delivered to Iran didn’t have such a great effect, or maybe they are saving them for a possible invasion. Of course, we don’t know exactly what they have delivered.
Iran is releasing some ships, China may not have been hit so hard yet, but as you write, it would seem that the USA is planning to snatch Iran’s oil, maybe China will not stand by and just watch.
Now a lot of deliveries went to Iran from China even though no one really knows what they consisted of, but regardless, it would not surprise me if China is already trying to find ways to support them further to counteract the USA.
Midterm election
“A new political group in the USA aims to promote deregulation of artificial intelligence and plans to spend over 100 million dollars ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in the USA. This is reported by Axios.
The group, Innovation Council Action, is linked to Donald Trump’s advisor on AI matters, tech mogul David Sacks. It is led by Taylor Budowich, a former senior White House official and Trump campaign manager.
In addition to looser legislation regarding AI, the group’s purpose is to support political candidates who align with Trump’s policies in this area.
Axios writes that this initiative is taking place at the same time as more tech-financed actors are mobilizing for the midterm election, indicating that the AI issue may play a significant role.”

I have a bit of difficulty understanding Japan and that they allow this.
I really hope it doesn’t end with them ending up on Russia’s side. Considering that Trump has been tough on them regarding tariffs, apart from China, it was probably them and South Korea who faced the toughest levels, especially in terms of car exports and the car industry, which is one of their major export industries. So maybe this contributes to them considering finding other partners to cooperate with. Unfortunately, money seems to outweigh everything.

Approaching Russia, I believe, is an impossibility for Japan. The countries have not yet signed a peace treaty after World War II. Japan claims that the four islands in the south of the Kurils belong to Japan but receives no support from the Russians who took the entire island chain. A thorn in Japan’s side. But Japan can approach Australia and/or Europe.
Hope you are right! 👍

“I have a friend who works in oil shipping logistics in the Baltic region. He told me yesterday: “We’ve never seen anything like this. Three strikes on the same terminal in seven days. Buyers are panicking. Tankers are sitting empty. Nobody knows when loadings resume.”
That’s when I knew the headlines weren’t telling the full story. Here’s what you need to understand:
→ Ukraine hit Ust-Luga — Russia’s 2nd largest oil export terminal — for the THIRD TIME this week
→ 700,000 barrels per day capacity — OFFLINE
→ Primorsk — Russia’s LARGEST terminal — also suspended loadings
→ Combined: 40% of Russia’s total oil export capacity GONE
→ Repair timeline: 18 to 24 MONTHS. Not weeks. Not months. YEARS.
→ Russia was making $270,000,000 PER DAY from oil exports — that money funds every missile hitting Ukraine
→ India gets 80% of its Russian crude from these two ports — global ripple effect is ALREADY starting
Three days ago Russia dropped its budget cut plans because the money was pouring in.
Today the ports that generate that money are on fire. 400 drones.
That’s all it took to cripple 40% of a superpower’s oil exports. Most people won’t see this. RT to change that.”

Thank you 205. On the way down, or what do you see?
It’s too early. Currently, there is a protracted but still slowly declining offensive. As Johan has pointed out and as mentioned in, among others, DN, a larger offensive is expected. Apparently, Konstantinivka is a main target, where they have slowly gained ground but have a long way to go, according to the article in DN, with significant losses.

SPJUTSKAFTET
When it comes to Spjutskaftet, I had set a goal of 50,000, but lately I have noticed that the interest has decreased.
Instead of waiting until we reach the goal when it seems to be progressing slowly, I thought it would be better for me to submit the money that has been received so far to Power Up Ukraine so that they can be put to good use.
On Thursday, I plan to sum up all the income and expenses to see how big the actual surplus is so I can contribute the remaining amount and then make a payment to PUP.
Right now, we have collected 33,270 SEK.
If you want to help improve this further, you are welcome to: http://spjutskaftet.se
NOTE! Of course, I will not shut down the site, the coin will be available for purchase as long as there is interest.
Thanks to everyone who supports Spjutskaftet and who has helped so far!
