The links to the Ukrainian counteroffensive, like the first day when we discussed the Ukrainian military, we said that the war would be won by group combat with anti-tank weapons and machine guns, right? I see well-trained soldiers with communication down to the group level moving individually but overall in platoon and company. It is a dynamic battle, fire and movement, and on the surface maybe a battalion or so is moving forward. Russian armor standing on the road or in temporary firing positions doesn’t stand a chance. If it gets stopped, the group leader uses the radio and calls in artillery. This is different from the Ukrainian army in 2014.

I say it again, Ukraine will throw Russia out of its territory, it’s just a matter of time. Of the hyped Russian offensive, absolutely nothing came of it and Ukraine went on the offensive immediately. Now civilians are being arrested and shot in captured cities, so of course Ukraine will take back everything including Donbass which has suffered since 2014.

Reserves will be deployed when they come forward in some kind of trickle and will be shot down on a conveyor belt by intact Ukrainian units at brigade size.

Then there has been a purely absurd discussion about Ukrainian refugees where those who want to accept them have been accused of being racists by immigrant writers in various forums for supposedly treating Ukrainians better than other refugees.
Poland got a slap too and they have taken in an almost incredible 1 million refugees…

My wife says that Sweden always does the opposite of what it should and there is some truth in that, I think. We have a unique ability to end up on the wrong side of history. For example, we ended up paying a large war reparations after WW2 because we supported Germany and now we don’t want to ”provoke Russia” when they are ethnically cleansing Ukraine.

Also a slow debate from left/immigrant debaters (or racialized, I don’t really know what the correct term is anymore) that it is racist to want to accept Ukrainian women and children when one has been critical of men pretending to be children. Poland apparently racists who have taken in 1 million Ukrainians. The immigrants/racialized who have aired their dissatisfaction seem to have done very well as debaters in the media or well-paid jobs.

I am really boiling over things like this. Sure, one should have pros and cons, but giving a Kremlin-paid organization space during prime news time to spread its poison is deeply disturbing. Sure, a report can justify this, but when Ukraine is bleeding out, one should have some moral compass.
