Thank you for this post Lars, very interesting.

Any thoughts on why the Ukrainian tanks were grouped in the middle of the road?
Exposed to absolutely everything?

I guess I have to start the day like every day by saying that Ukraine has won the war, it’s just a matter of time. Zelensky said this himself yesterday, “the tide has turned we will throw them out”. I guess the local counteroffensives are like a hot knife through butter.

Film 1 –

The Russians are turning their backs to the attacker and the armored vehicles “rear”.

It’s completely unbelievable. You are supposed to face the front towards the fire and open up with everything you have, suppress the shooting and move forward until it stops.

Then the rest of the battalion attacks obliquely “from above” and tries to run over the Ukrainian platoon.
None of this happened, first shot and they fled, incredible to have seen this on film.

The Ukrainians have courage, a fire assault against a mechanized battalion with a platoon under 100m distance.

They probably mined the terrain well between themselves and the road?

Film two is the textbook example of how to direct artillery 😀

Ukraine down to platoon or company level thus has contact with artillery fire control and prepares coordinates as part of the planning for the fire assault. They are well functioning.

Considering how badly the mechanized battalion fought in the previous post, I understand Zelensky’s cocky statement that they will defeat Russia.

In all their counteroffensives I guess they have chased the Russians into retreat quite quickly.

Do the Russians have better units than this, the simple answer is probably no. They might improve their command a bit but if they have planned for two years and it went this badly, I don’t see how command under pressure can go better.

Russia has lost.

Exactly what I guess as well.

Ukraine has probably lost 10% of its armor and has captured many times more.

Aircraft and tanks are surely smuggled in and weapons probably flow in faster than they can be distributed.

Western special forces fight in the international legion with their own weapons (smart) and the queue for a place in the army is long.

The Russians field shabby units that are deployed directly and knocked out immediately.

I expected more offensive from UA this week but maybe they needed to defeat the Russian attack first. A Ukrainian offensive can’t be far off though, Zelensky sounded confident and it is very urgent to liberate Mariupol.

Don't forget to donate, Ukraine's cause is ours! Support Ukraine!
