Got my card cloned, when I don’t know, but they opened a new account and Apple com /bill/…. payments started showing up. It’s a card I use internationally that goes to an account where we transfer a few thousand SEK at a time, if even that, so the maximum loss is low.
It started on December 28 and I didn’t think much about it for a few days but emptied the account in early January after checking all purchases, my son got an iPad for example, but there were no purchases that matched the amounts.
Then when I managed to log in to Apple’s website and checked all purchases I realized something was fishy, called the bank and blocked the card.
Then I realized I can’t use the alternative card down here that goes to the account with all the money on it and regret not listening to the banker who suggested I block all internet payments on the card but allow in-store purchases – probably the best thing that happened to my health, a dry quarter 😭
Very clever of them to wait until Christmas when you buy all sorts of things and have other things on your mind – they got a few days of peace and quiet. I seem to remember someone writing in the thread about something similar, LW?
